Five Noles Tab All-ACC Honors. November 28, 2022 By Tim Hofmann TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Five members of the Florida State volleyball team were given
All-ACC honors on Monday afternoon. Emma Clothier, Audrey Koenig, Khori Louis and Emily Ryan were each named to the All-ACC Second Team while Audrey Rothman was named to the All-ACC Freshman Team. The
Noles tied with Louisville, Pitt and Georgia Tech for most All-ACC honorees with five selections. "I'm really proud of all of these young ladies. They have worked hard this year and have all had
impact performances during the season. I'm excited to see all five of them rise up this week and play their best volleyball of the season," Head Coach Chris Poole said. Clothier picked up her
third-straight All-ACC honor in her career. The senior captain tallied 205 kills while adding 78 blocks for the Seminoles. Clothier was one of the best servers in the league this year with 37 aces
which ranks ninth in the ACC. Koenig was phenomenal this season for the Seminoles and led the team with 314 kills this season on her way to her second All-ACC honor after being named to the All-ACC
Freshman Team in 2021. After not serving last season, Koenig had a great season behind the service line with 35 aces. Being a six-rotation player, Koenig was second on the team in digs with 245.
Louis was one of the most efficient hitters in the conference this season and was a key piece for the Seminoles this season. Louis is fourth in the conference with a .365 hitting percentage with 229
kills. Louis added 99 blocks during her sophomore campaign. Ryan was a terrific addition to the 2022 team in her first season with the Seminoles. Ryan leads the team in blocks with 105 and is 10th
in the conference with 1.08 blocks per set. Ryan was terrific this season from both the middle and the right side, tallying 228 kills while hitting .323.

Noles Take Down Illinois State in Season Opener.
CINCINNATI, Ohio - After dropping the first set, the Florida State volleyball team (1-0) bounced back to take the final three sets to beat Illinois State (0-1) in four sets (21-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-14) Friday evening at Fifth Third Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio. This is just the second time since 2017 that the Noles have won their season-opening match.
"First matches of the season are always tough because you are just trying to get back in the swing of things, but I was really proud of the girls because we really got better as the match went on," Head Coach Chris Poole said. "We had a lot of people contribute which is great to see. We just need to find a way to be more consistent which we were able to do towards the end of the match." Down 1-0, the Noles found their backs against the wall in set two down 23-21, but two errors by the Redbirds and a pair of kills from senior middle-blocker Emma Clothier gave the Noles the final four points to even the match.
The Noles found themselves in another tight battle with the Redbirds in set three, as the two teams went back and forth. With the Noles down 19-18, a kill by Khori Louis sparked a 4-0 run for the Noles to put them in control where they would go on to take a 2-1 match lead.
The Noles jumped out to a 9-2 lead in set four and never looked back, leading by as much as 13 in a 25-14 match-clinching victory. In set four, the Noles held the Redbirds to a staggering -.125 hitting percent whereas the Noles were able to hit an impressive .474.
Audrey Koenig led all Seminoles with 12 kills, while freshman Audrey Rothman and Emily Ryan each added 11 and 10 kills in their debut for the Garnet and Gold. The Noles held the Redbirds to just a .136 hitting percentage throughout the match, while recording 11 blocks, five of which came from Ryan.

Noles Improve to 2-0 with Win Over Dayton.
CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Florida State volleyball team improved to 2-0 Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 (25-17, 23-25, 25-15, 25-23) victory over the Dayton Flyers (1-1) at the Fifth Third Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The Noles got off to a bit of a slow start in set one being down 7-3, but the Noles bounced back and ultimately took over the set thanks to a 6-1 run to build an 18-13 lead, and the Noles wouldn't look back in set one.
After Dayton was able to prevail in set two, the Noles got out to a phenomenal start in set three behind a great performance by Khori Louis who had four early kills. The Noles would cruise to a 25-15 to take a 2-1 set lead where the Noles hit .424.
The fourth set saw Dayton in command for most of the set, but the Noles took their first lead of the set at 20-19 and extended it to 23-20. The Flyers bounced back taking three out of the next four points but a service error by the Flyers ended the threat with a service error to clinch the match for the Seminoles.
Louis had a phenomenal afternoon, tying her career high with 15 kills while adding four blocks for the Noles. Audrey Koenig had another good day with 12 kills for the second consecutive game. The Noles had a great day at the service line with 10 aces including five from freshman Audrey Rothman.

Noles Suffer First Loss to Bearcats.
CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Florida State volleyball team (2-1) dropped its first match of the season Sunday afternoon to the Cincinnati Bearcats (1-2) in four sets (24-26, 23-25, 25-9, 23-25) at the Fifth Third Arena.
"Today was a disappointing loss for us. We had too many errors at the net that gave them some free points. It was a good first weekend, but we will need to clean some things up moving forward," Head Coach Chris Poole said.
In set one, the Seminoles trailed early, but used a 7-1 run to take a 22-19 lead. The Bearcats responded with a run of their own to take the first set. Audrey Rothman was strong for the Noles with five kills in the first set while Emma Clothier added three kills. The second saw the Bearcats get out to another hot start in set two to build an eight-point lead. Down to set point, the Noles battled off five set points to cut lead to one, but the Bearcats were able to get the final point to put the Noles away.
The Noles bounced back by dominating the third set from start to finish. The Noles jumped out to an early lead then went on a 16-1 run to win the set 25-9.
The two teams contested a very tight fourth set with each team trading leads. The Noles were able to tie the set up at 20 thanks to back-to-back blocks, but the Bearcats scored three out of the next five points to hand the Noles its first loss of the season.
Rothman was a bright spot for the Noles, as the true freshman led all players with 16 kills while Emma Clothier added 10 kills.

Volleyball Sweeps Yale in First-Ever Meeting.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State Seminoles (5-1) made quick work of Yale (2-1) in their first-ever matchup in Tully Gym on Saturday afternoon, sweeping the Bulldogs in three sets (25-15, 25-10, 25-25-11). In just six matches, the Seminoles have swept the three last opponents.
Head coach Chris Poole praised the team stating, "It was a really clean game. We did a good job handling everything they threw at us. I was really proud to see the way we played. It was the cleanest match that we played so far this season."
The Noles came out with power in the first set, leading through every point. The offense was dominant, earning 12 kills on 25 swings and only one attack error. Five different Seminoles recorded a kill in the first set, led by Audrey Koening with five. The Bulldogs were unable to respond to the strength of the Seminoles, ending the set 25-15 with a kill from Emma Clothier.
The second set proved to be even more successful for the Seminoles as the team held the Bulldogs to only 10 points. Seven different Noles recorded a kill and four recorded three apiece. Audrey Koenig served three-straight aces against the Bulldogs after Yale called a timeout.
The sweep was secured with a 25-11 win in the third set. Emily Ryan propelled the Seminoles' offense, recording the first four kills against the Bulldogs. Ryan led the Noles in the third set with five kills. Once again, seven different Seminoles tallied a point for Florida State in the third set.
Ava Pitchford recorded 22 assists in today's match followed by Andjelija Draskovic with 14. Defensively, Koenig led the team with eight digs and Ryan and Khori Louis put up a brick wall at the net with four blocks apiece. The Seminoles recorded 41 kills on 74 attacks (.527) throughout the three sets.

Noles Hot Start Continues with Victory Over Austin Peay.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - In the first-ever matchup between these two teams, the Florida State Seminoles (6-1) defeated the Austin Peay Governors (2-3) in four sets (25-12, 23-25, 25-17, 25-18) on Saturday evening at Tully Gym. The Noles' 6-1 record to begin the year is their best since 2017 and their fourth straight win at home. Audrey Koenig, Khori Louis and Emily Ryan were each named to the Seminole Volleyball Invitational All-Tournament Team.
"It was a great weekend. I'm extremely proud of our entire team but especially for Audrey, Khori and Emily who led the way with their performances. It was a great team effort, but now we have to take it on the road to Omaha," Associate Head Coach Jeff Hulsmeyer said.
The Noles took zero time to get things going as they started the first set with five straight points, forcing the Governors to take an early timeout. Florida State wouldn't look back, leading by as many as thirteen points and taking the set 25-12. The depth of the Seminoles was on display as eight different players recorded kills en route to a monstrous .520 hitting percentage. The Noles' defense was equally stellar, holding the Governors to a minuscule -.115 hitting percentage.
The second set was a different story as Austin Peay jumped out to an 8-4 advantage due in part to FSU's three consecutive attack errors. The Noles' first lead of the set didn't come until 15-14 and they couldn't pull away as both teams went back and forth. The Governors fought back as they claimed a 19-18 lead and wouldn't relinquish it, winning the set 25-23.
The Noles rebounded in the third set, taking an early 13-6 lead. Austin Peay got the deficit down to three on a few occasions, but the Seminoles kept the pressure on and emerged with a 25-17 victory. FSU's hitting attack was on point once again as they posted a .433 hitting percentage for the set.
Austin Peay held the lead early in the fourth set, but FSU mounted a comeback thanks to a 5-0 run that gave them a 9-6 advantage. The Governors refused to go away once again, tying things up at 15. The Noles maintained their composure though, winning the set 25-18 and the match 3-1.
The quartet of Emma Clothier, Audrey Koenig, Audrey Rothman, and Emily Ryan accounted for 42 of FSU's 56 kills, led by Koenig and Ryan who had 11 each. The Noles recorded a solid .369 hitting percentage while holding the Governors to .152. Lauryn Burrows led the team with 12 digs while Rothman added ten as well.

Noles Increase Win Streak to Five.
OMAHA, Neb. - The Florida State volleyball team (7-1) took home its fifth-straight victory Thursday night with a 3-0 win (25-21, 25-21, 25-23) over Nebraska-Omaha (4-2) in the first game of the Omaha Invite at Baxter Arena.
In the first set, the two teams battled back and forth with the Mavericks taking a 14-11 lead. Back-to-back kills from Khori Louis got the Noles within one then an Emma Clothier kill gave the Noles the 18-17 lead. The Noles would outscore the Mavs 7-4 to take the first match with a Sydney Conley kill putting the finishing touch on the set.
The Noles jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but the Mavericks climbed back to take an 8-7 lead. That would be the last time the Mavericks would have the lead for the rest of the set as the Noles scored four out of the final five points to take a 2-0 match lead.
The Noles had to claw back in the third set as they were kept at distance for the majority of the set. Down 19-17, the Noles rattled off five-straight points thanks to two aces by Audrey Koenig to take a 22-19 lead. The Mavericks tied the set up at 23, but a kill by Khori Louis and a block from Audrey Rothman ended the threat to give the Noles the sweep.

Noles Drop Five-Set Thriller to No. 17 Creighton.
OMAHA, Neb. - The Florida State Seminoles (7-2) fell to the No. 17 Creighton Bluejays (6-2) in five sets (19-25, 25-19, 27-29, 27-25, 12-15) on Friday night at Baxter Arena in Omaha, Neb.
"That was a disappointing loss. I loved our fight," Head Coach Chris Poole said. "We proved that we can play with this caliber of a team, and we are going to move on and learn from this."
It was back and forth to begin set one, but Creighton took the lead at the 9-8 mark and held their advantage for the rest of the set. The Noles kept the deficit at three to four points for most of the set but were unable to mount a comeback against the Bluejays, falling 25-19. Audrey Rothman led the offensive attack with four kills and Emery Dupes added six digs.
Florida State came out strong in the second set, taking an early 5-1 lead. Creighton would fight back though, tying things up at 13. The Noles responded with a crucial six-point run to set up their 25-19 set two victory. FSU posted a match-high .364 hitting percentage while holding the Bluejays to .143.
The third set started similarly to the second as the Noles got out to a 13-7 lead, but the pesky Bluejays wouldn't go away, tying the set at 17. It was a nail-biter down the stretch as there were eight ties and three lead changes, but the Bluejays would prevail with a 29-27 win.
FSU had their backs against the wall in the fourth set as they found themselves down 24-25. The Noles rallied for three-straight points to take the set thanks in part to kills from Rothman and Sydney Conley in the closing points.
The fifth and final set was a close fight in the beginning as the teams were knotted up at six. The Bluejays found their stride though and went on a six-point run to take a 12-6 lead. Florida State made a comeback attempt with a four-point run to cut the deficit to two but fell short in the end, losing the set 12-15 and dropping the match 2-3.
Audrey Koenig led the Seminoles in kills with 17 and Emily Ryan tied her career mark with 12. Dupes and Rothman both posted career-highs in digs with 31 and 26.

Noles Bring the Fight to the Irish in Sweep.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State Seminoles (9-3) began ACC play in style on Friday night, defeating the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (5-6) in three sets (25-20, 25-18, 25-17) in front of a packed Tully Gym. The win marks the 17th-consecutive season that the Noles have won its ACC home opener, and the Noles improved to 6-0 inside Tully Gym this season.
The first set's action matched Tully's chaotic energy as points were swapped back and forth the entire set. Seminole highlights included a fantastic middle-of-the-set volley that ended in a Seminole point, multiple potential Notre Dame kills stuffed at the net by FSU middle blockers, and a total of 13 kills. Sydney Conley and Emma Clothier both led the Noles with four kills each. When the dust settled, FSU came out on top, winning the first set 25-20.
The second set was all Garnet and Gold, leading for almost its entirety. The offense was lights out, racking up 13 kills from five different Noles. Audrey Koenig led the set with five kills. The defense was also on full display: multiple long volleys ended in FSU points, along with two team blocks that stuffed Notre Dame. Despite a late-set push from the Irish, it wasn't enough; the Noles won the set 25-18.
The third set started close, with the teams trading the lead between the first handful of points. However, an early-set kill from Conley sparked the Noles to gain momentum, not dropping the lead for the remainder of the set. The Noles offense continued to be lethal, ending the set with 9 total kills from five different Noles. Conley led FSU with four kills. The team ended the match strong, winning 25-17 and sweeping the Irish.
The story of the night was the Seminoles' defense as they held the Fighting Irish to a .000 hitting percentage. Conley led the Noles with a season-high 11 kills on 16 attempts. Koenig added 10 kills while Emery Dupes was great from the service line recording three aces in the match.

Seminoles Win Five-Set Thriller Over UNC.
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - It was all that easy, but the Florida State volleyball team (10-5, 2-2) used a dominating fifth set to defeat North Carolina (9-6, 1-3) 3-2 (25-17, 25-27, 25-22, 24-26, 15-5) Sunday afternoon at Carmichal Arena in Chapel Hill, N.C. The Noles have now won three-straight matches against the Tar Heels dating back to the 2021 spring season.
"I am so proud of our players today. We've been struggling with injuries, and it has caused some chaos. I was so proud of the players who came off the bench today and made a great impact. We were a completely different team than we were on Friday, but it's a good win and we will keep working," Head Coach Chris Poole said.
The Noles dominated set one with a 25-17 victory. The Noles hit .500 in the set and pulled away after the Tar Heels took an early lead.
The Tar Heels jumped out all over the Seminoles taking a 20-12 lead, but the Seminoles then went on a 9-1 run behind the serving of Emma Clothier to tie the set at 21. The two teams traded points, but UNC would come out on top to even the match.
The Noles took complete control in the third set as middle blockers Emily Ryan and Khori Louis began to flex their muscle. FSU took an 18-12 lead and defended a fierce rally from UNC to take the set 25-22.
FSU had their chance to end the match in set four reaching set point at 24-23, but UNC used a 3-0 run to send the match into a fifth set.
It was all Seminoles in set five as they jumped all over the Tar Heels. The Noles led 8-3 then scored the final six points to take the match.
It was a huge day for both Louis and Ryan at the net. The duo each tallied 12 kills and combined for 16 blocks. Ryan hit .500 while Louis hit .348. Audrey Koenig led the way for the Noles with 15 kills on 28 attempts. Andjelija Draskovic tallied 36 assists while Melanie Cuervo saw her first action of the year at setter and recorded 17 assists.

Noles Fall to No. 8 Pitt.
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Florida State volleyball team (12-7, 4-4) fell in three sets (19-25, 18-25, 22-25) to No. 8 Pitt (18-2, 8-0) at Fitzgerald Field House in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Sunday afternoon.
After the Panthers led from start to finish in set one, the Panthers jumped out to a 10-5 lead in the set two, but the Seminoles battled back to take their first lead of the match at 14-13. The teams were tied at 16-16 before the Panthers went on a 9-2 run to end the set.
Set three proved to be the most competitive set of the match as the two teams went back and forth with the Seminoles taking an early 10-8 advantage. The Panthers were able to create some space to take a 21-18 lead, but the Noles took the next two points to cut the lead to one. Noles Handle Hokies in Three Sets.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State Seminoles (13-7, 5-4) snapped their two-game losing streak at the Paint It Pink game Friday night, beating the Virginia Tech Hokies (9-11, 2-7) in three sets (28-26, 25-17, 25-13) at Tully Gym. The Noles improved to 9-1 inside of Tully Gym and are now 19-0 against the Hokies in Tallahassee.
The first set began close, with teams exchanging points back and forth. After falling behind, the Noles clawed back into the set through team blocks and an offensive onslaught, tallying 14 kills. Khori Louis led with four. The end of the set was a nail biter, with teams swapping set points. A Sydney Conley ace, her first of the season, sealed the first set for the Noles.
The Noles used that momentum to ignite them in the second set. FSU never lost the lead and flexed their offensive muscles with several aces and 10 kills, led by Emma Clothier and Louis with three each. Despite a late surge from VT, it wasn't enough. FSU capped off the set in style, winning with a team block to take the second set 25-17.
The third set proved to be much of the same with the Noles jumping out to an early lead and not letting it go. FSU continued their attack, with more aces and 14 kills. FSU was in complete control for the whole set, not allowing the Hokies to chain together points. The Noles finished off the set with an ace to win it 25-13.
Louis led the way with 11 kills on 14 attempts to hit an impressive .718. Emma Clothier added 10 kills. The Noles were very impressive on the service line recording a season-high 12 aces with Clothier and Audrey Koenig each recording three.

Noles Stay Perfect Against Syracuse with 3-1 Win.
by Tim Hofmann
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Florida State volleyball team (15-7, 7-4) used some fierce serving on Friday night to defeat the Syracuse Orange (10-11, 6-5) in a four-set win (25-19, 25-15, 20-25, 25-21) at Women's Gym in Syracuse, N.Y. With the win, the Noles improved to 14-0 all-time against Syracuse.
The Seminoles were great behind the service line all night, but it proved to be the biggest difference in the first set. The Orange led the Noles in nearly every category, but the Seminoles won the serving battle in the first 6-0 and were able to win the set 25-19.
Holding a 11-10 lead in set two, the Seminoles flexed its muscle once again with a 9-1 run to lead 20-11 and eventually took the second set 25-15.
Syracuse bounced back in the third set and led 23-17. The Seminoles scored three-straight points to make the score 23-20, but the Orange were able to close out the set.
The Noles jumped out to an early 12-6 lead over Syracuse, but that lead slowly diminished with the Orange taking a 19-17 lead. The Seminoles rallied back behind three kills from freshman Audrey Rothman to take a 22-20 lead. Emma Clothier tallied her sixth ace of the night to end the match for the Seminoles.
The Seminoles 15 aces is a season-high and only 13 teams in the country have had more aces in a four-set match this season. In the past three matches, the Seminoles have tallied 39 aces, the most in the ACC. Emma Clothier's six aces is tied for seventh all-time in school history. Khori Louis continued her great play with 12 kills and a hitting percentage of .478.

Volleyball Falls to Boston College in Four Sets.
by Tim Hofmann
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Florida State volleyball team (15-8, 7-5) fell to Boston College (16-10, 4-8) in four sets (17-25, 25-23, 20-25, 21-25) Sunday afternoon in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
The Eagles came out firing in the first set, hitting .406 and tallying 16 kills while also adding four aces on its way to a first-set victory.
The Noles responded in set two taking a 5-4 lead and never giving that lead up. The Noles fought off a late rally and a big block by Emily Ryan and Emma Clothier ended the set.
The Eagles were once again in control in the third set and kept the Noles at distance to win a pivotal third set 25-20.
Set four proved to be the most competitive set of the afternoon. The Eagles held a 15-12 advantage before the Noles tallied three-straight points to tie the set at 15. The Noles looked to keep the momentum going taking a 17-16 lead, but an inadvertent whistle took the point back. The Eagles went on a 4-0 run from that point to take a commanding lead and held on to take the match.
Audrey Koenig led the Noles with nine kills while Khori Louis added eight kills. Clothier played in her 100th consecutive match on Sunday and added eight kills for FSU.

Noles Overpower Tar Heels in Home Finale.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State volleyball team (18-9, 10-6) showed great resilience in their home finale on Friday night at Tully Gym, pulling out a hard-fought four-set victory (14-25, 25-18, 25-23, 25-18) over the North Carolina Tar Heels (15-12, 7-9). The win marks the Seminoles' 12th victory at home, the most since 2015.
The Noles held a slight 10-9 advantage early in the first set, but the Tar Heels were able to rattle off 11 consecutive points to take a commanding lead. UNC would go on to take the set 25-14, led by Mabrey Shaffmaster's six kills.
Florida State shook off its early struggles and went on a five-point run to take a 5-1 lead to begin the second set. North Carolina battled back to tie things up at 1,1 but the Noles could not be denied. FSU utilized an 8-1 run to claim a 25-18 victory. Emily Ryan and Khori Louis combined for nine of the Noles' 14 kills.
Set three saw both teams deadlocked at 13 before a five-point run from the Seminoles gave them a lead that they would not relinquish. A kill from Emma Clothier put the finishing touches on the 25-23 win.
North Carolina fought back in set four, jumping out to a 14-9 lead as Florida State's offense struggled with attacking errors. The Noles found their stride down the stretch though, finishing the set with six unanswered points en route to a 25-18 match-clinching victory.
Audrey Koenig was a machine in the back row, shattering her career-high in digs (19) while Emery Dupes added 15 of her own. The Noles featured a balanced offensive attack as Koenig, Ryan and Louis contributed 11 kills apiece and Clothier tallied 10.

Noles Dominate Miami on the Road in Straight Sets.
CORAL GABLES, Fla. - The Florida State volleyball team (19-9, 11-6) made a strong case for a NCAA Tournament bid Wednesday afternoon with a sweep (25-20, 25-16, 25-22) over the Miami Hurricanes (19-10, 12-6) in Coral Gables, Fla. This is the first time the Seminoles have swept the Hurricanes in Coral Gables since 2016 and it is also the first time the Noles have beaten Miami twice in the same season since 2019.
"I'm really proud of our team today," Head Coach Chris Poole said. "They did a great job following the game plan and were focused all match. Miami is always a tough place to play. It's a great time to play our best match of the year against a top 30 team."
Miami jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the first set, but then the Seminoles took over the match. The Noles used a furious run to take a 15-14 lead and went on to take 10 out of the final 16 points to take the first set. The Noles dominated every aspect of the set hitting .265 while holding the Hurricanes to a .091 hitting percentage.
The Seminoles used that momentum from the first set and jumped out to a 15-7 lead and never looked back in a 25-16 second set victory.
The third set started the same way as set one with the Noles jumping out to a 8-2 lead. The Noles used a fierce 7-0 run to tie the match at 10. The two teams traded points, but the Noles used a quick 3-0 run to create some separation and went on to clinch the match.
After not playing in the first match against Miami due to injury, freshman Audrey Rothman made her presence known with a game-high 13 kills on just 19 attempts. Audrey Koenig added 11 kills for the Noles.

Noles Fall at No. 13 Georgia Tech.
ATLANTA, Ga. - The Florida State volleyball team (19-10, 11-7) fell in three sets (19-25, 14-25, 22-25) at No. 13 Georgia Tech (20-7, 13-5) Saturday afternoon in front of a packed and loud O'Keefe Gym in Atlanta, Ga.
The Seminoles struggled to get anything going offensively in the first set as the Yellow Jackets used a key 8-2 run in the middle of the set to create separation. Georgia Tech would go on to win the set 25-19.
The second set saw a similar path to the first set as the Yellow Jackets pulled away again in the middle of the set to dominate the second set 25-14.
The third set was the most competitive as the Seminoles were able to find some rhythm offensively. Unlike the first two sets, the Seminoles were able to use a run of their own in the middle of the set to take a 16-15 lead. Noles End the Season at NCAA Tournament.
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Florida State volleyball team's (19-11) season came to a close on Friday night with a three-set loss (24-26, 19-25, 21-25) to Northern Iowa (27-7) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Maturi Pavilion in Minneapolis, Minn.
The first set was tight from start to finish with no team being able to take more than a two point lead. The Seminoles looked to be on its way to a first set victory, holding a 24-22 lead, but the Panthers roared back with a 4-0 run to take the first set.
The second set saw a similar path to set one with both teams tied at 15, but the Panthers went on another run to take a 19-15 lead and would close out the set to take a 2-0 match lead.
The Panthers used another run in the middle of set three to gain some separation from the Noles, but FSU fought back to cut the Panther lead to one at 18-17. The Panthers rallied back taking four out of the next five points and were able to hold off the Seminoles.
Emily Ryan and Khori Louis each had eight kills while Audrey Koenig added seven kills.
