TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Link Jarrett, a two-time National Coach of the Year at Notre Dame and a 1994 Florida State graduate, was named the 10th head baseball coach in FSU history Friday by Vice President and Director of Athletics Michael Alford. The Tallaha Jarrett will be formally introduced at a press conference Monday, June 27 at 10:30 a.m. Fans will be able to view a stream of the press conference live on Seminoles.com.
"I think that Link is the finest coach in the game today, and that opinion is held by many in college baseball. We could not be more pleased that he will be leading our program," said Alford. "He has been a proven winner at each of his coaching stops.
"He's a Seminole through and through and there is no question that he will dedicate himself to the success of our student-athletes and his team. I know he is excited to be returning home and we are just as excited to welcome him and his family."
Under Jarrett, Notre Dame went 86-32 (.729), the second-best winning percentage in the country in that span. Notre Dame's 44-21 record in the Atlantic Coast Conference was the best in the league.

FSU is a special place to our family and I'm excited to be the next leader of Seminole Bas "We're thrilled to welcome Link Jarrett back to his alma mater," said FSU President Richard McCullough. Baumeister, Smith Earn All-ACC Honors. May 22, 2023 TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Starting pitcher Jackson Baumeister and third baseman Cam Smith earned
All-ACC recognition Monday as the league announced its end-of-year honors. Baumeister, a sophomore pitcher, was a third-team starting pitcher, while Smith was named to the All-Freshman Team.
Baumeister, from Jacksonville, finished 5-5 with a 5.09 ERA and 95 strikeouts in 69.0 innings. Baumeister started all 14 weekends and finished third in the league in strikeouts and was second in the
ACC and 21st nationally with 12.39 strikeouts per nine innings. He was named the ACC and National Pitcher of the Week for his 14-strikeout performance against Clemson, leading the Noles to the
series-opening victory. In his final appearance of the year, Friday at Louisville, Baumeister overcame an early deficit and pitched a career-high 8.0 innings as FSU rallied from a 4-0 hole to a 7-4
win. Baumeister's 14 strikeouts were the most in a game for an ACC pitcher this season, and tied for eighth-most nationally. No Seminole pitcher has thrown more in a game since 2006. Smith, from
Lake Worth, Florida, hit .258 with eight doubles, a team-high five triples and 12 home runs. He finished second on the team in home runs, runs (39) and walks (21) and was third on the team in hits
(54) and RBI (36). Smith's five triples were the most for a Seminole freshman since 2014, and his 12 home runs were the most for a freshman since 2004. He is the first Seminole since Dylan Busby in
2016 with at least five triples and 12 home runs in a season. He became the first FSU player since Buster Posey in 2008 with back-to-back multi-home run games, when he did it against North Florida and
Virginia Tech last month. Against the Ospreys, Smith was 4-for-6 with two home runs, three RBI and five runs scored, the most runs in a game for a Seminole since Taylor Walls in 2017. Smith tied a
school record with two triples against No. 4 Florida in Jacksonville. Twice this season Smith had at least three RBI, three hits and three runs in a game - against North Florida and at Jacksonville in
his first career road game. Smith started 51 of 54 games at third base.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State (1-0) began the 2023 season with a 7-3 win over James Madison (0-1) on Friday night in Link Jarrett's first game as the head coach of the Seminoles. Wyatt Crowell took his eighth career win as he struck out four in 2.2 innings, while freshman DeAmez Ross and junior Jordan Carrion combined for six hits, five RBI and four runs scored.
Ross, making his collegiate debut, finished 3-for-5 with three RBI, three runs and two stolen bases. Carrion had three hits - including two doubles and a three-run single - two RBI and scored a run.
Carson Montgomery took the mound to start the game and pulled through 4.0 innings of work conceding three hits and one run. Sarasota native David Barrett came in relief and sent the first two batters packing on swinging strikeouts.
Brennen Oxford checked into the game to calm the storm with two runners in scoring position and one out. He walked Mike Mancini before Crowell stepped onto the mound where he pitched a double play with Smith collecting the grounder and tagging at third before lacing the third out to James Tibbs III.
Crowell then took command of the mound shutting down the Dukes side with four punchouts in the next two innings.
Cam Smith, a highly-touted freshman, started at third base and laced a triple 406 feet of the center field wall, just inches from his first career home run. Smith had four assists at third base and FSU turned three double plays to support its pitching.

Vincent, Whittaker Lift Noles Past James Madison.
by Jack Oliaro
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State (2-0) took their first weekend series win of the season over James Madison (0-2) in a 5-1 victory on Saturday afternoon at Dick Howser Stadium. Connor Whittaker earned his third career win as he worked the final five innings while Colton Vincent broke a 1-1 tie in the sixth inning with his first career home run.
Jackson Baumeister, a Jacksonville native, took the mound to start the game and kept the James Madison bats quiet during his start. After two runners came into scoring position with one out in the first, he struck the next two batters out swinging to leave the Dukes stranded.
He then retired the next four batters to make it six straight and finished the start with 4.0 innings of work on 60 pitches, striking out five hitters and conceding one run on two hits.
Whittaker pitched the remaining 5.0 innings on 72 pitches with four swinging strikeouts to notch his first win at home since April of last season against Florida.
Vincent chose a great time for his first career home run as he launched the 2-2 pitch up and over the right field fence and into Chieftan Way to give the Noles a one-run lead. FSU extended the lead with Jaime Ferrer's single up the middle that brought the top of the lineup home as DeAmez Ross and Cam Smith in. Ferrer scored the final run of the game after reaching on a single and scoring on Jordan Carrion base hit.

Fifteen Hits Lead Noles Past Jacksonville.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Florida State's (4-0) offense continued to shine Tuesday, recording 15 hits and scoring 11 runs in an 11-2 victory over Jacksonville (1-3) Tuesday night at John Sessions Stadium. Freshman DeAmez Ross tallied his second three-hit game of the season, while Cam Smith and Jordan Carrion both had three hits and three RBI in the evening.
The Seminoles are now averaging 11.3 runs per game this season. After the Dolphins took a 2-0 lead on a home run in the bottom of the second inning, FSU responded with five runs in the third and three more in the fourth inning. The only hit allowed by FSU freshman Ben Barrett was Chandler Howard's home run, and he struck out a batter in 2.0 innings in his collegiate debut.
Brennen Oxford (1-0) held Jacksonville off the board after FSU took the lead, working around an error in the third and a double in the fourth to strand runners. Along with Ross's three-hit day, Smith had a two-run double and solo home run, his second of the year; James Tibbs III tied the game on a two-run double; Carrion had three hits to improve to 10-for-16 on the year; and Jordan Williams had his first two hits of the season, including a two-run home run.
Williams is the fifth different Seminole with a home run this year, and four of them hit the first of their FSU careers. Smith is the only Nole with multiple homers.
Behind Oxford, FSU turned to David Barrett, Andrew Armstrong and Ryan Denison to close out the final four innings. The trio combined to allow just one hit and strike out six Dolphin hitters. FSU's three hits allowed were a season low.

Noles Clinch Series at No. 8 TCU.
FORT WORTH, Texas - The Florida State bats stayed hot Saturday, mashing 13 hits and 10 more runs to beat No. 8 TCU, 10-8, for the second consecutive game to clinch the series. Jaime Ferrer hit a pair of home runs and led FSU with three hits and four RBI, while Andrew Armstrong earned his first career save with 2.0 innings of one-run baseball.
Ferrer continued his torrid streak against the Horned Frogs and is hitting 6-for-10 with two doubles, a triple, two home runs, six runs scored and six RBI in two games against TCU. The sophomore hit a pair of two-run home runs Saturday, the first Seminole since 2021 with a multi-home run game.
Freshman Cam Smith had his second three-hit game of the season and connected on his third home run, most on the team. After TCU cut the lead to 5-4 in the sixth inning, Smith's home run started a five-run top of the seventh for the Noles that provided FSU's final runs.
TCU took an early lead against FSU starter Jamie Arnold, a freshman making his first career start on the road. The Horned Frogs' first three batters of the game reached base, taking a 1-0 lead on Kurtis Byrne's single. Arnold got out of the inning with a triple play off the bat of Luke Boyers, the first FSU has turned since 2009.
TCU doubled its lead in the second inning on Karsen Bowen's RBI single. Arnold pitched 2.2 innings before leaving in the third inning with the bases loaded. Conner Whittaker (2-0) entered and forced a pop out to escape the inning unscathed.
In the fourth, James Tibbs III reached on a walk and Ferrer doubled before Jordan Carrion's two-run single tied the game. Carrion leads FSU with 13 RBI on the season and is hitting .500 (12-for-24) with six extra-base hits.
FSU took the lead for good in the fifth inning against Luke Savage (0-1), who allowed four runs in 4.1 innings.
Behind Arnold and Whittaker, Doug Kirkland and Brennen Oxford pitched 1.2 innings before Armstrong entered in the eighth inning. After allowing a double and RBI single, Armstrong got out of trouble with a double play and pitched a perfect ninth inning for the first save of his career.

De Sedas's Walk-Off Double Leads Noles Past USF.
TALLAHASSEE, Florida - Down to its final out in the bottom of the 13th inning, second baseman Nander De Sedas plated two runs on a double to lead FSU (7-1) to a 7-6 victory over USF (3-6) Wednesday night at Dick Howser Stadium.
The Seminoles led for most of the game, taking a 2-0 lead just three pitches into the contest, on a Jaime Ferrer single and James Tibbs III's second home run of the season. The Noles tacked on a third run against Nolan Hudi when Cade Bush blooped a two-out double to score Jordan Carrion.
Freshman Jamie Arnold struck out four batters and did not allow a hit in 3.0 innings. He stranded a runner in the first two innings and FSU turned its first of two double plays to end the third inning. The Bulls got two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning against David Barrett, but Brennen Oxford struck out Bobby Boser looking to strand a runner and maintain the 3-2 lead.
After USF tied the game in the sixth inning, De Sedas singled and scored Treyton Rank to again retake the lead. The Bulls pulled even in the eighth inning and took their first lead in the 13th on RBI singles from Jackson Mayo and Daniel Cantu. Andrew Armstrong (1-1) relieved Conner Whittaker and struck out the one batter he faced for his first career win.
In the 13th, Treyton Rank walked with one out and scored on Carrion's triple that got past USF's diving right fielder. Pinch hitter Gunnett Carlson was hit on the final pitch from Chandler Dorsey (1-1) and was relieved on the base paths by Connor Moore. With two outs, De Sedas blooped a double off the shortstop's glove, allowing Carrion to score and Moore to slide in under the tag for the win.
The win was the third career walk-off hit for De Sedas at FSU - he had an RBI double vs. North Florida as a freshman and a two-run home run vs. North Carolina in 2021.

Noles Drop First Home Contest of 2023.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State (7-2) dropped its first home contest of 2023 Friday, falling 10-8 to FGCU (9-1) in front of 4,422 fans at Dick Howser Stadium. James Tibbs III hit a two-run home run for the second straight game, but baserunning and defensive miscues cost the Seminoles.
After taking an early 2-0 lead in the first inning on Tibbs' 13th career home run, the Eagles scored seven runs over the next two frames, including three unearned on a defensive error in the second. Jackson Baumeister (1-1) was tagged with the loss, allowing six runs on five hits in 2.1 innings.
FGCU pushed its lead to 8-2 after five innings before the Noles mounted its comeback bid in the sixth. FSU plated five runs against the Eagles' bullpen and had runners on second and third with no outs, but a double play nabbed the lead runner at the plate and a fly out ended the inning. Freshman Ben Barrett had a two-run RBI in the inning, his second hit of the game in his first appearance in the lineup. Freshman Gunnett Carlson also had an RBI single as a pinch-hitter in the frame.
The teams traded runs in the eighth inning and, down 10-8, Treyton Rank drew a leadoff walk before LJ McDonough retired the next three Seminoles in order. Connor O'Hara (1-0) earned the win for the Eagles, pitching 2.0 innings in relief, while McDonough earned his second save. Jason Woodward, the Eagles' starting pitcher, exited after 2.2 innings with an undisclosed injury.
At the plate, FGCU had 14 hits, with nine going for extra bases. The Eagles had an extra-base hit to start an inning five times.

Noles Drop Another Slugfest.
TALLAHASSEE, Florida - For the second straight game, Florida State (7-3) dropped an offensive slugfest to FGCU (10-1), falling 11-10 in front of 5,038 fans at Dick Howser Stadium. The Seminoles had 16 hits in the contest - including three from McGwire Holbrook, making his FSU debut - but a ninth-inning home run for the Eagles broke a 10-10 tie and proved to be the winning run.
Holbrook, a transfer from West Virginia, saw just 10 pitches over his five at-bats, finishing 3-for-5 with an RBI single and a two-run double. Colton Vincent extended his hitting streak to 14 games with two hits, and Treyton Rank had a pair of singles from the leadoff spot. Vincent and Rank both singled in the ninth inning, but LJ McDonough earned his second save of the weekend by forcing a fielder's choice to end the contest.
Edrick Felix hit two solo home runs for the Eagles, including in the ninth-inning against Ryan Denison (0-1). Denison pitched a career-high 3.1 innings, allowing two earned runs. Connor O'Hara got the win for FGCU with a scoreless eighth inning.

Vincent, Crowell Lead Noles Past FGCU.
TALLAHASSEE, Florida - Catcher Colton Vincent tied a career-high with three hits and had four RBI, while Wyatt Crowell pitched 5.2 innings in relief as Florida State (8-3) beat FGCU (10-2) 14-8 Sunday at Dick Howser Stadium.
Crowell's 5.2 innings were a career high, and his seven strikeouts also tied a career best. Doug Kirkland allowed one inherited runner to score in the ninth inning.
Vincent increased his hitting streak to 15 games, the longest for a Seminole since 2018. He was 3-for-3 with four RBI, the final three of which came on a bases-clearing double in the eighth inning and capped the Seminole scoring. During his hitting streak, Vincent is hitting 22-for-53 and he leads FSU with a .421 batting average this season.
Florida State scored three runs in the first inning, on three consecutive hits from James Tibbs III, Jaime Ferrer and Ben Barrett. Tibbs' double tied the game after Harrison Povey hit a solo home run for the Eagles in the first inning; Barrett scored Tibbs with an RBI single, and Ferrer scored on a throwing error from the FGCU second baseman.
For the series, FSU scored eight total runs in the opening frame: three Saturday and Sunday and two Friday evening.
The Eagles answered on Brian Ellis's three-run home run in the second inning. Carson Montgomery allowed seven runs in 2.1 innings before Crowell kept the Eagles off the board until the ninth inning.
FSU responded with seven runs on eight hits in the bottom of the second, including a two-run home from Nander De Sedas and a three-run blast from Jaime Ferrer. De Sedas's blast chased Jacob Lojewski from the contest; FSU answered with six consecutive hits against reliever Tyler Tipton for the seven-spot, its most runs in an inning this year.
Justin Henschel pitched 5.2 innings in relief for FGCU, keeping FSU off the board from the third through eighth innings.

Noles Top Wildcats, Prepare for ACC Play.
TALLAHASSEE, Florida - Florida State (9-3) was all business with 17 hits in a 10-1 midweek win over Bethune-Cookman (8-5) on Tuesday evening at Dick Howser Stadium. Ryan Denison (1-1) earned his first career win, coming in relief for 2.0 innings while James Tibbs III and Cam Smith each hit a home run and accounted for half of the runs on the night.
Tibbs III had 15 hits coming into the game and continued his superb offensive performance, drawing two walks to start before doubling into right to score a run then crushing a 2-2 pitch into deep center. Smith had a homer in his first plate appearance for the game's first run and later hit a single to push his hit count to 14, leading the Seminole freshmen.
David Barrett made his first career Seminole start on the mound off a strong relief outing against South Florida. The Sarasota native flew through the first few innings, retiring seven straight batters to begin the game. He finished his start after 2.1 innings with two strikeouts and conceded no hits. Andrew Armstrong finished off the third inning.
Denison came in for his fifth appearance of the season and worked a strong 2.0 innings. He forced a multitude of fielding putouts and allowed just two hits on 24 pitches. Taking the pitching reins next was another freshman making his fifth appearance in Jamie Arnold. Just like his fellow freshman, he worked 2.0 innings himself and struck out three Wildcats.
Brandon Walker and Drake Flowers split the final two innings to close out the rout. Walker made his second appearance this season and struck out one en route to a comfortable inning while Flowers made his first collegiate appearance on the mound and finished with two punchouts.
Smith gave the Seminoles the lead on the second at-bat of the game and never looked back with an offensive explosion of ten singles, three doubles, a triple, and three home runs. Not only did they provide high output but were also consistent, knocking a hit in all eight innings.
This is the eighth game out of 12 where Florida State has racked up double-digit runs. The 17 hits stand as the second-most hits in a game by the team this season.

Noles Open ACC Play with 12-Inning Walk-Off Win.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - No. 21 Florida State (10-3, 1-0 ACC) opened conference play Friday with a 3-2 win over Pitt (7-7, 0-1) on Jordan Carrion's 12th-inning walk-off single. The Seminoles did not record a hit from the 7th to the 11th innings, but ended the game with three singles and an intentional walk in the 12th inning.
Carrion was 0-for-5 entering the 12th inning, but made two spectacular double plays to end the 11th and 12th innings. Both balls were hit up the middle; Carrion fielded cleanly, stepped on second base and threw to Cade Bush at first base.
Cam Smith was also 0-for-5 before his leadoff single in the 12th inning. James Tibbs III - who drew four walks, one shy of the school record - followed with a single that put runners on the corners, and Jaime Ferrer was intentionally walked. The Panthers brought in leftfielder AJ Nessler as a fifth infielder, but Carrion's single split the shortstop and third baseman for the winning run.
The victory capped a strong pitching performance for the Seminoles - starting pitcher Jackson Baumeister set a career high with nine strikeouts in 5.0 innings, and Conner Whittaker set career highs with 5.1 innings pitched and nine strikeouts. Doug Kirkland forced the 11th-inning double play to his first batter faced; Jamie Arnold (1-0) earned his first collegiate victory by forcing the 12th-inning double play to the only batter he faced.
Both starting pitchers -Baumeister and Pitt's Jack Sokol - held the other team off the board for the first three innings, and each had five strikeouts. The Noles stranded four baserunners in that span, while a pair of Panthers were left on base in the first third of the game.
Pitt took a 1-0 lead in the fourth. Noah Martinez led off the inning with a double and came around to score on Nessler's two-out single.
Florida State had multiple chances to strike against Sokol, but the Noles stranded two runners each frame from the second through fifth innings and 11 for the game. FSU finally capitalized in the sixth inning, chasing Sokol after a Colton Vincent single, wild pitch and an RBI single from Bush. Former Seminole Dylan Simmons allowed an RBI double to Nander De Sedas that plated Bush and gave FSU its first lead.
The Panthers tied the game on a pair of singles and an RBI groundout in the eighth against Whittaker.

Crowell, Seminoles Clinch Series vs. Pitt.
TALLAHASSEE, Florida - Making his first career start, Wyatt Crowell struck out a career-high 10 batters over 6.0 innings as Florida State (11-3, 2-0 ACC) clinched its series with Pitt (7-8, 0-2) with a 5-3 win Saturday in front of a sell-out crowd of 6,300 at Dick Howser Stadium.
Crowell (3-0) allowed three hits in six shutout innings, lowering his season ERA to 0.87. His 10 strikeouts are the most for a Seminole this season, and the junior became the fourth Nole to earn his first career start on the mound this season, joining freshmen Ben Barrett and Jamie Arnold and junior David Barrett.
After retiring Buster Posey's jersey in a pregame ceremony - just the fourth in program history - the Seminoles raced out to a 4-0 lead after an inning of work. Titan Kamaka and James Tibbs III walked, followed by a Jaime Ferrer RBI single; a Jordan Carrion RBI double; and a two-run Cam Smith single. Pitt starter Kyle Mosley (0-2) allowed just two more hits and no more runs over 5.1 innings.
The Panthers best opportunity against Crowell came in the fourth inning, when they had the bases loaded and no outs after a pair of walks and a base hit. Crowell responded by striking out the next two hitters looking and forcing a dribbler to the mound, retiring the runner at the plate and escaping with the shutout in tact.
Pitt got on the board with a pair of runs against the FSU bullpen in the seventh inning, but freshman Jamie Arnold left the bases loaded with a strikeout to maintain the 4-2 advantage. The Noles answered with an unearned run on a throwing error in the bottom of the inning.
The Panthers scored a run and loaded the bases in the ninth inning, but Andrew Armstrong earned his second career save by striking out the final batter of the game.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - No. 21 Florida State (11-4, 2-1 ACC) dropped its first ACC contest of the season Sunday, falling to Pitt (8-8, 1-2) 8-6 in seven innings at Dick Howser Stadium. The game was delayed at 3:30 p.m. before eventually being canceled after two-and-a-half hours due to rain and lightning.

Whittaker Makes First Career Start.
CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Sophomore pitcher Conner Whittaker made his first career start Saturday, pitching 5.0 innings with five strikeouts in Florida State's 3-2 loss at No. 23 Miami. Whittaker became the ninth different Seminole pitcher to start a game this season, and the seventh of those to make his first career start.
The sophomore from Sarasota allowed a two-run double in the second inning to get the Hurricanes on the board. Relief pitcher Andrew Armstrong pitched a career-high 3.0 innings, allowing a solo home run to start the seventh inning.
Florida State had five hits, two coming in the eighth inning when Titan Kamaka doubled and scored on Colton Vincent's two-out single. Vincent had two of FSU's hits; Kamaka was the first Seminole to reach third base this weekend, and Jaime Ferrer's second-inning single extended his hitting streak to 17 games, the third-longest for any Seminole over the past 10 seasons.
James Tibbs III cut the deficit to 3-2 with a two-out home run in the ninth inning, his team-high ninth of the season and 19th of his career.

Ferrer Leads Noles with Three Hits.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State's bullpen allowed just one run over 8.1 innings Tuesday, but Jacksonville's earned a 5-4 win after a first-inning grand slam at Dick Howser Stadium. A solo home run for the Dolphins in the fifth inning proved to be the game-winner.
Down 4-0, Andrew Armstrong came in relief and pitched a career high 4.1 innings, allowing just one run and striking out a career-high six.
Brennen Oxford and Doug Kirkland each pitched 2.0 innings; Oxford struck out five batters, while Kirkland struck out the side in the eighth and faced the minimum.
At the plate, Florida State out-hit the Dolphins, 10-7, with six doubles. Jaime Ferrer led the way with three hits - including a pair of doubles and an RBI single in the ninth inning to provide the final margin. He extended his hitting streak to 19 games, the longest for a Seminole in nearly 10 years.
DeAmez Ross had two hits, his second leading off the ninth inning. Freshmen Titan Kamaka, Ben Barrett and Cam Smith had doubles, as did Jordan Carrion, who now has nine on the season.

Baumeister Shines in Win vs. Clemson.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Sophomore Jackson Baumeister struck out a career-high 14 batters Thursday as Florida State snapped its losing streak with a 5-1 win over Clemson at Dick Howser Stadium. At the plate, the Seminoles got three RBI from Jaime Ferrer - who extended his hitting streak to 20 games - and a solo home run from James Tibbs III.
Baumeister, making his eighth start of the season, struck out the side to begin the game and had at least one strikeout in all seven innings pitched. Along with his 14 strikeouts, his 7.0 innings pitched and 110 pitches were also career bests. Baumeister has now accounted for two of FSU's three wins by a starting pitcher this season.
After DeAmez Ross singled against Austin Gordon to start the game, Ferrer hit his fifth home run of the season on the first pitch he saw. Ferrer added an RBI single in the third inning that also scored Ross.
Ferrer's 20-game hitting streak is tied for the 17th-longest in school history, and the longest for a Nole since 2011.
FSU tacked on a run in the fourth inning on Jordan Carrion's RBI double, and Tibbs' 10th home run of the year capped FSU's scoring.
The Tigers scored its lone run in the eighth inning on four walks from the FSU bullpen, but Carson Montgomery got two outs to escape trouble and earned his first save of the season - and second of his career - with a scoreless ninth inning.

Ben Barrett Shines at No. 3 Florida.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Freshman Ben Barrett pitched five scoreless innings and allowed just one hit in FSU's 5-3 loss at No. 3 Florida in front of 7,441 fans at Condron Family Ballpark Tuesday night.
Barrett, from Orlando, allowed just three batters to reach base in his fourth career start. He forced a double play and stranded two other runners.
Neither team scored in the first five innings - and it took under one hour to complete that much - before the Seminoles took a 3-0 lead in the sixth inning. Jordan Carrion, a former Gator, opened the inning with his second hit of the game and scored on DeAmez Ross's RBI double. After Jaime Ferrer reached on a fielding error, James Tibbs tripled FSU's lead with his eighth two-bagger of the year.
The Gators got one back in the bottom of the sixth against reliever Andrew Armstrong, but two fly balls with runners on base kept the score 3-1. After scoring a run on an error, Florida took the lead for good with a three-run home run from Ty Evans in the bottom of the eighth.

Cam Smith Homers at NC State.
RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State scored two runs in the bottom of the 10th inning to beat Florida State, 5-4, Sunday afternoon at Doak Field in Raleigh. Cam Smith had both of FSU's extra-base hits in the contest, including a go-ahead solo home run in the top of the 10th.
Andrew Armstrong pitched four scoreless innings in the contest. He was one of eight Florida State pitchers to appear in the game.
Armstrong entered with the bases loaded and one out in the third inning with FSU already trailing 2-0. Armstrong struck out both batters and proceeded to get an inning-ending strikeout in the fourth and fifth innings as well.
When Armstrong did run into trouble in the seventh inning - the first two Wolfpack batters of the inning reached - Armstrong fielded a sacrifice bunt attempt and threw out lead runner at third base. Ben Barrett entered in relief and needed just four pitches to force a pop up and groundout.
FSU cut the Wolfpack lead in half on Jordan Carrion's groundout in the fifth, scoring Treyton Rank who led the inning off with a single. Jaime Ferrer singled and Cam Smith doubled to being the sixth inning and scored on groundouts from McGwire Holbrook and Titan Kamaka, respectively.
NC State tied the game on a solo home run in the eighth inning and won the game with a bases loaded walk and bases loaded single in the 10th.

Ospreys Win Wild Wednesday Game.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Despite a career-day from freshman Cam Smith - four hits, two home runs, three RBI and five runs - Florida State lost Wednesday at North Florida, 15-14, in 10 innings. It was FSU's third consecutive one-run loss and second straight loss in extra innings.
Smith, from Lake Worth, became the first Seminole since current Tampa Bay Ray Taylor Walls in 2017 to score five runs in a game. It was his second game of the season - and FSU's sixth - that a Nole had at least three hits, three RBI and three runs scored.
FSU pounded out 17 hits, with Smith and James Tibbs III leading the way with four a piece. Jaime Ferrer, pinch-hitter Connor Moore and Jordan Carrion had two hits. Ferrer hit a two-run home run and had three RBI; Tibbs and Moore had two RBI, and Ferrer and Tibbs are now tied for the team lead with 31 RBI on the year.
Moore's two hits were the first of his career.
Florida State trailed 12-8 entering the ninth inning before scoring four runs on five hits and a UNF error. That followed the Ospreys scoring seven runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to take what appeared to be a commanding lead.
Ben Barrett allowed one run in three innings in his fifth start. Florida State used a school-record 10 pitchers in the game, including Carrion, who started at shortstop and made his first appearance on the mound at Florida State. He last pitched in 2021 when he played for the University of Florida.

Smith Homers Twice vs. Virginia Tech.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Freshman Cam Smith hit two more home runs Friday night and now has five in his last three games and 11 on the season. With two home runs Wednesday at North Florida, he is the first Seminole since Buster Posey in 2008 with back-to-back multi-home run games.
Smith hit two of FSU's four home runs, joining James Tibbs III and Nander De Sedas. Tibbs' home run was on the first pitch in the first inning, FSU's first leadoff home run since Taylor Walls in 2017. De Sedas's was his fifth of the season, and the four home runs tied FSU's season high.
Jackson Baumeister struck out nine batters in 5.0 innings, his second-most in a game this year, behind his 14 against Clemson. After a leadoff walk, Baumeister retired the next eight batters as FSU led 5-0 through three innings.
Virginia Tech won, 24-9.

Ferrer Doubles Twice in Close Defeat.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Right fielder Jaime Ferrer doubled twice, his team-high 14th and 15th of the season, in Saturday's contest against Virginia Tech. Ferrer now leads FSU with 56 hits and a .350 batting average.
The teams traded runs in the second inning, with each side scoring courtesy of three hits. The Hokies added a run in the third and fourth innings to take a 3-1 lead against FSU starter Conner Whittaker.
Ferrer doubled to score James Tibbs in the sixth inning and cut the deficit back to one, but the Hokies answered in the top of the sixth against Andrew Armstrong. Pitching in his 24th game of the year - and fifth consecutive - Armstrong allowed one run over the final 4.0 innings.
Virginia Tech's Drue Hackenberg pitched a complete game, striking out 12 batters. DeAmez Ross hit FSU's third single of the ninth inning to score Treyton Rank, but FSU's tying run was stranded on third to end the game.

Bullpen Powers Noles Past Hokies.
TALLAHASSEE, Florida - Jamie Arnold and Doug Kirkland combined for five hitless innings as Florida State beat Virginia Tech, 4-3, Sunday afternoon to salvage the final game of the series. Arnold improved to 2-4 on the year, while Kirkland did not allow a baserunner over the final two innings for his first career save.
At the plate, James Tibbs hit his second home run of the weekend, a two-run shot in the third inning, while DeAmez Ross and McGwire Holbrook provided RBI singles.
Holbrook began the game with a knock to the shortstop and just beat out the throw which allowed Tibbs to score from second for the game's first run. This extended Holbrook's six game hitting streak, all of which were singles.
In his next at-bat, Tibbs unleashed a powerful strike over the right field fence to send himself and Colton Vincent home for a three-run lead. The sophomore finished the series with five hits and took sole possession of home run leader on the team with his 12th of the season.
Ross shot a single down into center field to send Nander De Sedas home from third in the fourth in what ended up being the game winning hit. He also hit another single in the seventh to make it a two hit day for himself.
Starting on the mound for the Seminoles was Carson Montgomery and he cruised through the first three innings with three strikeouts and kept Virginia Tech runless in that time. He finished the day after 4.0 innings, giving up three runs in the fourth but only conceding one extra base hit.

Smith Ties School Record with Two Triples.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Florida State scored a season-high five runs in the first inning, but No. 4 Florida left 121 Financial Ballpark with an 7-5 victory Tuesday evening in front of 8,210 fans.
After Florida scored four runs in the top of the first, the Seminoles responded with five of their own to take the lead. After DeAmez Ross singled, Jaime Ferrer hit an RBI double; James Tibbs hit an RBI single; Cam Smith hit his third triple of the season, tied for the team lead; and Smith scored on a throwing error by the Gators. With two outs, Jordan Carrion singled for the 5-4 lead.
Both bullpens responded with zeroes until the fifth inning, when Florida took the lead with three runs, including two on back-to-back home runs.
Smith tied a school record with his second triple in the seventh inning, the ninth player in school history with multiple triples in a game. He now leads FSU with four triples, is second with 11 home runs and is the first Nole since Dylan Busby in 2016 with at least four triples and 10 home runs.

Baumeister, Kamaka Lead Noles Past Mercer.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Jackson Baumeister allowed a pair of runs in the first inning, but none over the next six as Florida State beat Mercer, 4-2, Friday evening in front of 3,873 fans at Dick Howser Stadium. Baumeister's 7.0 innings pitched matched a career high and he evened his record to 4-4 on the season.
Titan Kamaka had two RBI - a go-ahead home run and a double in the fourth inning - and Treyton Rank had three hits, a run, an RBI and a stolen base. Mercer took the early lead with a pair of runs in the opening frame before Baumeister settled in. The Jacksonville right-hander allowed just three runners over his final six innings; he struck out eight hitters to win his second straight start.
FSU scored a single run in the second, third, fourth and fifth innings to take the lead. Colton Vincent hit an RBI double and drew a pair of walks, while Rank tied the game with an RBI single in the third inning. Rank's RBI came after James Tibbs stole his fourth base of the season, allowing the sophomore to score from second on Rank's hit to center field.
Kamaka's home run gave FSU the lead in the fourth, and his double in the fifth scored Rank to make the score 4-2.
Baumeister stranded a runner in the seventh inning, inducing a pop out on his 104th and final pitch. Andrew Armstrong got one out in the eighth before Doug Kirkland needed just four pitches to force a pop up and a strikeout, stranding a runner.
In the ninth, Mercer earned a leadoff walk - the Bears only base on balls of the game - before Kirkland earned his third save with a game-ending strikeout of a pinch-hitter.

Whittaker's 8 IP Leads Noles to Series Win.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Sophomore Conner Whittaker allowed just three hits and struck out seven over 8.0 scoreless innings as FSU clinched the series against Mercer with a 9-0 win Saturday afternoon at Dick Howser Stadium. Whittaker's eight innings were the most for a Seminole pitcher this season.
At the plate, freshmen DeAmez Ross and Cam Smith hit two-run triples, while James Tibbs hit a three-run home run, his team-high 14th.
After the first two batters of the game singled against Whittaker, only three more batters reached against the right-hander: a third-inning walk, a fourth-inning single and on an error in the eighth inning. Whittaker ended the sixth, seventh and eighth innings with a strikeout.
Ross started the scoring with his first career triple, plating Colton Vincent and Nander De Sedas with two outs in the second inning. Ross has an eight-game hitting streak, a career long and tied with Jaime Ferrer for the longest active streak on the team.
After McGwire Holbrook drew a bases loaded walk in the third, Smith's fifth triple of the season pushed the Noles lead to 5-0 in the fourth inning. His five triples are the most for a Seminole since 2016, and he leads the ACC in three-baggers. Smith scored on Treyton Rank's sacrifice fly.
Tibbs' three-run home run in the eighth inning was his 14th of the season and 24th of his career. With three hits, a walk, two runs and three RBI Saturday, Tibbs is now hitting .329 and leads FSU with 49 runs, 39 RBI and 38 walks.
Brennen Oxford closed out the game with a scoreless ninth inning, his 22nd appearance of the year. The shutout was FSU's first of the season.

Offense Powers Noles to Sweep of Mercer.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Behind seven extra-base hits - including three home runs - and 5.0 shutout innings from Andrew Armstrong, Florida State beat Mercer 13-3 in eight innings Sunday afternoon to complete the series sweep.
The Seminoles never looked back after scoring five runs on five hits in the first inning, all with two outs. Every Seminole starter had a hit against Mercer, led by James Tibbs' 3-for-3 performance with two doubles and two walks. Tibbs now leads FSU with a .341 batting average, 51 runs and 39 walks.
Titan Kamaka also had three hits to match his career high, and his three RBI and three runs were a career high. Kamaka hit his second home run of the weekend and got FSU on the board with a two-run single in the first inning; he is the sixth different Seminole this year with at least three hits, runs and RBI in a game.
Colton Vincent had three hits and three RBI - including his second career home run - while Cam Smith hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning. Smith's 12 home runs match Ryne Malone in 2004 for the most by Seminole freshman over the last 20 years.
After Mercer cut the deficit to 5-2 with a home run in the second inning, Armstrong (2-3) entered in relief and allowed just two hits with five strikeouts over a career-best 5.0 innings. Both batters to reach after the second inning were retired on double plays.
FSU scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, with McGwire Holbrook's walk-off single scoring Kamaka to end the game.
The sweep was FSU's second of the season and first since opening with a sweep of James Madison in mid-February.

Ross Leads Noles Past Jacksonville.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - DeAmez Ross tied a career high with three hits, including a leadoff home run and the go-ahead single in the eighth inning, to lead Florida State to a 6-4 victory Tuesday evening over Jacksonville. The Seminoles four-game winning streak is its second-longest of the season.
Ross finished with a solo home run and two singles, scored three runs and had two RBI in the leadoff spot. His home run on the second pitch from Jacksonville starter Blake Barquin was his second of the season, and FSU's third leadoff home run of the year. Ross tied the game on Cam Smith's double in the fifth inning, and gave FSU a 5-4 lead on a two-out single in the eighth.
Jaime Ferrer added three more hits and now leads FSU with 68 on the season; his 20th double of the year tops his freshman season total and provided the final margin in the eighth inning, scoring Ross.
The Dolphins countered Ross's leadoff home run with a two-run home run from Hogan McIntosh in the second inning.
After a walk with one out in the fourth inning, starting pitcher Jamie Arnold was replaced by Ben Barrett, who stranded the runner with a pair of groundouts. Tommy Joseph hit a leadoff double in the seventh inning off Barrett; pinch runner Cam Ridley advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly for the Dolphin lead. Doug Kirkland recorded three outs in the seventh in relief of Barrett.
Kirkland pitched the final 3.0 for his second win of the season.

Wake Silences Seminole Bats.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Hosting the No. 1 ranked team for the first time in five years, Florida State could not cross the plate in Wake Forest's 10-0 win Friday night at Dick Howser Stadium. Delayed an hour due to lightning, the game was played in a light drizzle for much of the night.
Wake Forest starter Rhett Lowder improved to 11-0 with seven shutout innings. FSU managed just four hits against the projected first round pick, lowering his season ERA to 1.52.
The Demon Deacons scored two runs in the second inning against Jackson Baumeister before a three-run home run in the fourth inning. Brennen Oxford pitched 2.2 innings against his former team, allowing just one run on one hit. He has allowed only three hits and a run over his last six appearances, spanning 9.2 innings. Wake Forest tacked on four runs in the eighth inning for the run-rule victory.

Late Innings Lead Wake Past Noles.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - No. 1 Wake Forest clinched its weekend series against Florida State with a back-and-forth 7-3 victory at Dick Howser Stadium Saturday afternoon. Conner Whittaker extended his scoreless inning streak to 14.0 before the Demon Deacons managed to score all seven runs over the final three innings.
Neither team scored over the first five innings, which took just one hour to complete. The Seminoles took a 1-0 lead in the sixth when Jaime Ferrer tripled and scored on Cam Smith's single.
The Demon Deacons tied it on a solo home run in the seventh inning by Justin Johnson, his 13th of the year. The Noles countered in the bottom of the inning when Colton Vincent reached on an error, Jordan Carrion walked and DeAmez Ross gave FSU a 2-1 lead with a two-out single. Ross's hit extended his hitting streak to 12 games, the longest for an FSU freshman since 2013.
Wake Forest took its first lead with a two-run home run in the eighth inning on Whittaker's final pitch. The sophomore left-hander - and most of Dick Howser Stadium - thought he had struck out Nick Kurtz looking two pitches prior to the lefties 20th home run of the season.
James Tibbs earned his first hit of the weekend with a leadoff home run in the bottom of the eighth against Wake reliever Michael Massey to again tie the score at 3-3.
In the ninth, Wake Forest sent nine batters to the plate and scored four runs on three singles, a walk, two bases-loaded HBPs and an RBI fielder's choice.
Nander De Sedas and Vincent were recognized pregame in a Senior Day ceremony; the pair has combined to play in 297 games over the last five seasons.

Williams' Walk-Off Beats No. 1 Wake.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Jordan Williams' fourth hit of the season - and first at Dick Howser Stadium - was a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning to lead FSU to a 4-3 win over No. 1 Wake Forest Sunday afternoon. The Noles rallied from a 3-0 deficit after six innings with three runs in the seventh and Williams' RBI in the ninth.
The Seminoles used five pitchers to beat the Demon Deacons, with Jamie Arnold pitching a career-high 5.1 innings with six strikeouts. Andrew Armstrong pitched 2.1 innings with four strikeouts and just one hit, while Doug Kirkland improved to 3-3 on the year by notching the final two outs in the top of the ninth.
After Wake Forest hit a two-run home run in the first inning - Brock Wilken's 23rd of the year - neither team scored again until the Demon Deacons plated a run on a wild pitch in the sixth.
FSU's first hit came in the bottom of that inning, but the FSU offense really came to life in the seventh, when the Noles tied the game against the Wake bullpen with two walks, an RBI double from Colton Vincent, an RBI single from Jordan Carrion and a game-tying sacrifice fly from McGwire Holbrook.
Carrion tied a career-high with his third walk in the ninth inning. He was thrown out trying to reach third on Nander De Sedas's single, but the throw allowed De Sedas to get to second base and score on Williams' hit into the left-centerfield gap.

Tibbs Homers Twice at Louisville.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - James Tibbs and Ben Barrett combined for six hits and four RBI in Florida State's 7-4 loss at Louisville in Jim Patterson Stadium Thursday night.
Tibbs led off the game with his team-high 16th home run for the early FSU lead. Tibbs has three leadoff home runs in just eight games in the leadoff slot; as a team, FSU has hit four leadoff blasts after not having one between 2018 and 2022.
Trailing 3-1, Tibbs hit another solo home run to start the third inning for his first career multi-home run game. Tibbs was intentionally walked to load the bases with two outs in the fourth inning, a move that worked out for the Cardinals when Titan Kamaka ended the inning with a groundout.
Junior Andrew Armstrong - fourth in the country with 32 appearances - made just his second start of the season, allowing three runs in a career-high 6.0 innings. Louisville took the lead on a pair of hits and two hit batters in the first inning, and added a run on a wild pitch in the third.
Barrett gave FSU a lead with a two-run single in the fifth inning that held until an infield single tied the game for the Cardinals in the seventh. Jack Payton hit a three-run home run in the eighth inning that secured Louisville's win.

Noles Complete Comeback at Louisville.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Florida State scored three runs in the ninth inning - and the final seven runs of the game - to complete a 7-4 comeback victory over Louisville Friday night at Jim Patterson Stadium. Jackson Baumeister pitched a career-high 8.0 innings, and Brennen Oxford earned his first career save with a perfect ninth inning.
Louisville took the lead with a pair of home runs in the third inning - a leadoff home run from Logan Beard, and a three-run shot from JT Benson - to take the 4-0 lead.
FSU cut the lead in half with Williams' single in the seventh inning, scoring Ben Barrett and McGwire Holbrook. Barrett led off the inning with a walk - FSU's first of the game - and Holbrook pinch-hit and singled, his first pinch-hit of the season. Williams' matched his career RBI high with the two-run single.
After Baumeister posted another scoreless inning in the bottom of the seventh, Jaime Ferrer led off the eighth with a single and scored on Colton Vincent's game-tying, two-run home run, his third of the season and first from the right side.
FSU took its first lead of the game in the ninth on Cam Smith's RBI single; Smith was 0-4 with four strikeouts prior to his single, which came on an 0-2 count. Ferrer followed with a two-run double that scored James Tibbs and Smith.
Baumeister faced two batters in the ninth inning, allowing a walk and a single before Oxford entered in relief. Oxford struck out a Louisville pinch hitter before forcing a ground ball to Nander De Sedas, who started the 4-6-3 double play to end the contest. The win was FSU's largest comeback win of the year, topping a three-run deficit against No. 1 Wake Forest last Sunday.

Noles End Season With Series Win at Louisville.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Ben Barrett had three more hits Saturday, including his first career triple and a pair of RBI doubles, as Florida State wrapped its 2023 season with a 6-2 win at Louisville Saturday afternoon.
Barrett notched his second three-hit game of the weekend after hitting three singles Thursday night. The Orlando native wraps his freshman season hitting .359 with 16 runs, 21 RBI and 28 hits in just 21 games.
Conner Whittaker allowed two runs in 6.0 innings, and the Seminoles consistently got out of trouble thanks to spectacular defense. The Noles ended the fifth, seventh and eighth innings with a double play, and also turned one in the first inning. The four double plays tied a season high and were one shy of the school record.
After Louisville took a 1-0 lead in the second inning, FSU responded with a Cam Smith RBI single in the third. Jaime Ferrer gave FSU the lead in the fifth with a two-run double, his team-high 22nd of the year. Barrett's first RBI double came in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 4-1, and Jordan Williams followed with an RBI single later that same inning.
The Cardinals added an unearned run in the sixth inning on an FSU error. Louisville looked to add more in the seventh inning, when Brennen Oxford allowed a pair of walks, but Doug Kirkland forced a 6-4-3 double play on his first pitch to silence the Patterson Stadium crowd and get the Noles back in the dugout. After Nander De Sedas walked to start the eighth, Barrett doubled again to left-center field to give FSU a 6-2 advantage.
Kirkland walked the first batter in the ninth inning before Jamie Arnold entered and struck out two of the next four batters to close out FSU's first ACC road series win of the year.
