The Noles will look ahead to this upcoming week as they will split up to several different meets in one weekend.

"We had limited events today, but we had some strong performances." said Bob Braman "That was a great opener by Agnes McTighe in the one mile. I thought the women's sprinters were really good and it was really good to see the women's squad run well in the one mile."

"I think we had some really strong performances" said Matt Kane, "Andre showed really nice consistency and that's says a lot for a freshman. Liana Tyson had a great run that resulted in a new personal best. She's proving she has a very bright future."

Kane believes that competing at a two-day meet like the RAAD Sports Invite will benefit the team in the long run. "That's the format we're going to have during championship time, so it's good to get one under our belt so we can get used to it. This is just momentum heading into next weekend.

"We're chasing marks this upcoming weekend and moving forward. Each group has one goal in mind and that's continue to keep picking up marks. We always talk about chasing the National qualifying marks at the end of January. That's the time you really want to be good, so the momentum is going in the right direction.

"We're going to three different meets to face the best of the best for competition. It's the best way to get the marks we're looking for as we hope to have more people in the top ten NCAA marks."

Davis Takes Home NCAA Silver.

March 8, 2024

BOSTON, Mass. - Jeremiah Davis highlighted the No.19/NR Florida State indoor track and field teams on Friday at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Boston.

Davis earned silver in the men's long jump with a measurement of 8.20m, capturing his third consecutive first-team All-America honor in the event for his indoor career. Jordan Turner placed 13th with a leap of 7.31m, earning second-team All-America.

"I'm really proud of Jeremiah," said FSU track and field head coach Bob Braman. "He had his best competition of the year and gave himself a chance for a national title. He will compete in the triple jump tomorrow, where he's one of the favorites to win. Jordan had two jumps that would have placed in the top five, but they resulted in fouls."

For the first time since 2019, two Seminoles competed in women's 60-meters on the national stage. Shenese Walker punched her ticket to the final round on Saturday with the eighth-fastest overall time at 7.23.

Dajaz DeFrand placed behind Walker in ninth, nearly missing the final with a time of 7.24. DeFrand capped off her weekend placing 11th in the 200 with a time of 23.08, earning second-team All-America.

"Strong races for both Shenese and Dajaz in the 60-meter," Braman added. "Dajaz missed qualifying by one spot, but still a good season for her in the 60. I'm excited to see what Shenese does in the finals tomorrow."

The 19th ranked men's team currently stands in eighth place with eight points. Davis will compete in the triple jump on Saturday and David Mullarkey will race the 3,000, looking to add to the team total.

Noles Conclude NCAAs with All-America Honors.

March 9, 2024

BOSTON, Mass. - No.19/NR Florida State indoor track and field teams concluded the NCAA Indoor Championships on Saturday in Boston by capturing three All-America honors.

Jeremiah Davis added his second first-team All-America honor of the meet by placing third in the men's triple jump with a measurement of 16.60m.

"Jeremiah did a lot of heavy lifting for us" said FSU track and field head coach Bob Braman. "Jeremiah is the only jumper to record two top three finishes. He's an incredible athlete who is an Olympian in the making."

David Mullarkey placed 11th in the 3,000 meters (7:55.42), establishing second-team All-America after being seeded 14th coming into the event.

Shenese Walker finished fifth with a lifetime best, tying the sixth-fastest time in school history at (7.19), securing first-team All-America for the first time in her career. It was the highest finish for a Nole since 2019 when Ka'Tia Seymour placed third.

"Spectacular race for Shenese," Braman said. "Top five in her first ever National Championship. She saved her best races for the championship season. Really proud of her performance and development."

The 19th ranked men's team tied for 15th place with 14 points.

"We've finished in the top 15 two years in a row for the men's side," added Braman. "That's big for a program that doesn't have an indoor facility. I thought we competed hard during postseason, but we need to take that next big step during the outdoor season to be one of the top four teams to return to the podium. We've had success in recent years to do that."

Davis Wins NCAA Silver.

June 5, 2024

EUGENE, Ore. - The 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships opened on Wednesday at Hayward Field with Florida State student-athlete Jeremiah Davis winning silver in the men's long jump.

Davis secured his second career NCAA runner-up finish in the event with a season best of 8.07m (26-5 2/4), capturing his third consecutive outdoor first-team All-American honors.

"I'm really proud of Jeremiah," said FSU track and field head coach Bob Braman. "He's been dominating the field and was runner-up at Hayward two years ago as well. "I'm hoping the jumping gods shine on him in his final collegiate jump competition on Friday. He's a true warrior."

In addition to Davis, Jordan Turner placed 16th with a mark of 7.52m (24-8 1/4). Curtis Williams rounded out the event, placing 21st with a mark of 7.33m (24-3/4).

Tyson Williams concluded his season in the 110-meter hurdles, placing 17th with a time of 13.66.

"Really strong race for Tyson," added Braman. "He nearly missed second team All-American by two one-thousandths of a second."

The men's team currently stands in fifth place with eight points.

DeFrand, Webster Qualify for NCAA Finals.

June 7, 2024

EUGENE, Ore. - The No.20 Florida State women's outdoor track and field began the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday at Hayward Field with Alexandra Webster and Dajaz DeFrand advancing to finals on Saturday.

Webster clocked the first automatic qualifying time for the Noles in the 100-meter hurdles, placing fifth at 12.71.

"That was truly a gusty race for Alexandra," said FSU track and field head coach Bob Braman. "Ended up fifth-fastest overall and was only one-hundredth of a second off her lifetime best."

DeFrand and Shenese Walker both earned second-team All-American honors in the 100-meter, with DeFrand leading the Noles in 12th place with a time of 11.19. Walker followed in 13th at 11.23.

"One and five one-hundredth seconds out of the final," said Braman. "Both second team All-Americans but I know they wanted more."

Suus Altorf concluded her season in the 1,500, placing 18th with a time of 4:12.74.

"Great season for Suus, especially being the fourth fastest all-time for the Noles during the championship season," added Braman.

Tyra Wilson competed in the 400 hurdles, placing 18th with a time of 57.57.

DeFrand concluded her evening in the 200, advancing to Saturday's final with the ninth overall seed at 22.71.

"Dajaz had one of the fastest 200 and she will be going to battle in the final on Saturday," Braman added.

Davis, Tatham Earn All-American Honors.

June 8, 2024

EUGENE, Ore.- The Florida State men's outdoor track and field team concluded the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Friday at Hayward Field with Jeremiah Davis and Kyvon Tatham earning All-American honors.

Davis added his second first-team All-America honor of the meet by placing fourth in the men's triple jump with a measurement of 16.62m (54-6 1/2). It was his third All-American finish in the event in his career.

"Jeremiah is a warrior, "said FSU track and field head coach Bob Braman.

Tatham finished seventh with a lifetime best, tying the eighth-farthest jump in school history at 16.30m (53-5 3/4), securing first-team All-American for the first time in his career.

"Kyvon had a huge lifetime best to earn All-American honors, working his way up the standings today is incredible." Braman said.

David Mullarkey concluded his season in the 5,000-meters, placing 18th with a time of 14:05.77.

"I'm really proud of the men to rally up and finish top 20," Braman added. "Our kids and coaches kept focus and kept fighting."

DeFrand Captures All-American Honors.

June 8, 2024
