Seminoles Land ACC Men'S Outdoor Coach of the Year, Men's Performer of the Year, Women's Freshman of the Year Awards.

June 23, 2021

by Chuck Walsh

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State's Bob Braman, who led the Seminole Men's Track and Field Team to its 13th ACC Outdoor Championship, has been named the ACC Men's Outdoor Coach of the Year while Seminole senior Isaac Grimes was named the ACC Men's Outdoor Field Performer of the Year and freshman Ruta Lasmane was named the Women's ACC Freshman of the Year. Florida State led all schools with three honorees among the eight awards that were voted on by the league's head coaches.

Braman led the Seminole men to a first place finish in the 2021 ACC Outdoor Championships with a 20-point victory over runner-up Virginia Tech and a 44-point win over third-place Virginia. He then led Florida State to a 10th place finish in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships.

"The Coach of the Year honor is truly a program of the year award," said Braman. "All six of our coaches contributed to our great men's season. I'm proud of our staff, and especially our student-athletes, and humbly accept this award for them."

Braman's Men's Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year honor is his 27th overall coaching accolade in track & field (indoor and outdoor) and cross country at Florida State. The Seminole men won their 13th team championship in 2021 and first since 2018 this season. Braman has led Florida State 11 of its 13 outdoor ACC Championships. The Seminoles piled up 136 team points, the most by any men's team since the Seminoles scored 149 in 2013.

Following a record-setting indoor season during which he led the Seminoles to a third place ACC championships finish, Grimes (Moreno Valley, Calif.) continued to perform well on the outdoor stage. He won the long jump gold medal at the ACC Outdoor Championships (7.75 meters), earned the bronze medal at the NCAA East Regional Championships (8.02 meters) and earned the silver medal at the NCAA Championships (8.35 meters).

Lasmane (Latvia) was spectacular throughout her freshman season as she performed well in each of the Seminoles' four biggest events of the season. She finished in first place in the triple jump at the ACC Indoor Championships (13.53 meters), third in the NCAA Indoor Championships (14.15 meters), first in the ACC Outdoor Championships (14.20 meters) and fifth in the NCAA Championships (13.91 meters). Lasmane's gold medal winning jump at the ACC Outdoor Championships ranks as the ACC record and the facility record at the Paul Derr Track and Field Facility at NC State University.

CLEMSON, S.C. - The Florida State track and field team wasted no time on day one of the Bob Pollock Invitational. With five wins and many personal record performances the FSU team has made it clear that they have no desire to step back from their indoor success.

"Great opening day for us. I was really pleased with our focus and effort, especially for so early in the year," said Florida State head coach Bob Braman.

Jumps
Isaac Grimes and Jeremiah Davis once again dominated the men's long jump. Grimes made an enormous jump of 8.18m to take the win with a distance that was not just a huge PR and national leader but also No. 2 in FSU history behind Seminole legend Ngoni Makusha (8.21m). Davis took second by jumping a massive distance of 7.99m to beat his previous 7.86m PR. Not to be outdone Alonie Sutton and Ruta Lasmane also took first and second in the women's long jump by both jumping a distance of 6.14m.

"Our jump ladies continue to impress. For them to go 1-2 and jump 6.14 meters is a strong statement for a couple of Triple Jump specialists," said Braman.

Distance
The Nole's also dominated in the women's mile. Maudie Skyring led from the gun to finish in first position with a blistering time of 4:40. She was followed by Alyson Churchill and Jennifer Lima. Churchill clocked a time of 4:43 to take third position in her first ever indoor meet whilst Lima ran took a massive 15 seconds of her previous time to finish in a time of 4:44 in a huge PR. Their weekend is not over yet as Skyring, Churchill and Lima will be back on the track tomorrow to run in the women's 3k.

Sprints and Hurdles
The Nole's took two more victories in the men's and women's 60m dash. Jayla Kirkland successfully opened up her 2021 indoor season by winning the women's 60m in a time of 7.25. Ka'Tia Seymour followed her in fifth position with a time of 7.44. There was a similar story on the men's side. Don'drea Swint took the victory in a PR of 6.63 starting his indoor track season on a high in his first ever race as a Seminole. Darryl Gay followed him in third position with a time of 6.76. In the 60m hurdles Tyson Williams took third in a new PR of 8.02, improving his effort from his season opener two weeks ago.

"It was good to see our top two ladies (Kirkland and Seymour) healthy and competing again. Their times weren't fast but they won their heats and advanced to the final. So, mission accomplished," said FSU head coach. "The men's short sprinters did a nice job, winning three of the heats. Swint was the top qualifier and looked really strong."

Grimes Earns Silver on First Day of NCAA Indoor Championships.

March 13, 2021

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Florida State Track and Field team completed day one of the 2021 NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The Seminoles recorded three lifetime bests, four season bests, two heat winners, two new school records and the men earned 17 big points putting them in 3rd place heading into the final day.

"The men had a fantastic day one at indoor nationals," said Head Coach Bob Braman. "The men are well positioned for a Top 5 finish tomorrow. That would be a really great result for this team considering we're missing our Ace, Kasaun James, due to injury. I'm really proud of these guys. Out of 7 guys, only Trey has competed at Indoor Nationals before. That's impressive."

In the first event of the day, Isaac Grimes jumped a personal best jump in the men's long jump to take the silver medal. His jump of 8.35m (27-4 ¾) ranks him No. 6 in collegiate history and is the best silver performance seen in NCAA Indoor Championship history. However, the Noles were not done there as Grime' teammate Jeremiah Davis jumped 7.87m (25-10) to take 5th place in his first Indoor National Championships. Together Davis and Grimes scored an impressive 13 points for the men in the long jump.

In the men's 5000m, Adriaan Wildschutt put on an impressive performance for his first ever NCAA Indoor Championship. In a race where 11 out of 16 competitors ran personal records, Wildschutt took 4th with a time of 13:30.55. His time beats his personal best and the FSU school record by nine seconds. That's not all, his performance also earns him the South African National Record for the indoor 5000m.

Trey Cunningham continued his storied collegiate career by winning his heat in the 60m hurdles with a time of 7.57 to automatically qualify for tomorrow's final. He will compete at 3:30 p.m. EST for the Indoor National Championship in this event.

"Trey continued his undefeated season and was the boss of his heat today," said Braman. "He'll need to step it up even more if he is to win his first national title."

In the men's 60m dash prelims both Taylor Banks and Don'drea Swint just missed out on the final. Banks' time of 6.66 was an equal seasons best effort that placed him in the unlucky position of being the first man out of the final. On the women's side, after battling injuries all season, Jayla Kirkland put up a strong fight to finish 11th with a time of 7.28.

To close out day one, the women's distance medley relay topped all others in Florida State history. The squad of Alyson Churchill, Edidiong Odiong, Yasmine Abbes, and Maudie Skyring ran a time of 10:59.16. The Noles took home the bronze which is the highest finish at the National Indoor meet in program history.

Cunningham and Lasmane Take Bronze at The NCAA Indoor Championships.

March 14, 2021

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Today the Florida State Track and Field team competed in the third and final day of the NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville Arkansas. The Noles finished the day with some magnificent performances, two of which earned bronze medals. The men racked up a total 23 points to end the meet in 6th while the women scored 13 points to finish in 16th.

In the men's 60m hurdle final Trey Cunningham took third with a time of 7.53 which was a season best. Cunningham came through the second half of the race strong and with a terrific charge through the line found himself just two hundredths of a second behind the winner. The race was extremely close with only three hundredths of a second separating the top four competitors. Cunningham's bronze medal earned the Seminole men's team an important six points.

After watching the men's impressive long jump display the day previous it was now the women's turn, but this time in the triple jump. Freshman Ruta Lasmane concluded her standout indoor season by jumping another personal best distance of 14.15m (46-5 1/4). This huge jump earned her third in her first ever Indoor NCAA Championship meet. Her teammate Alonie Sutton put together a stellar performance to finish ninth in the nation with a jump of 13.29m (43-7 1/4). Her final position was a full seven places above her seed going into the event.

Maudie Skyring and Alyson Churchill rounded out the day for the Seminoles in the women's 3000m. Coming hot off of yesterday's DMR success the senior and freshman ran an excellent race to take eighth and 11th in a scrappy race. Skyring's time of 9:09.05 was good enough to score the Noles their final point of the meet.

Megan Cook set the tone for the day in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 52.43m. Not only is this a personal best but she also ranks No. 8 on the FSU All-Time Top-10 list.

Cook wasn't the only Seminole thrower earning a top-10 mark. Caisa-Marie Lindfors, making her outdoor debut in the Garnet and Gold, threw a 16.09m PB and a No. 6 all-time throw in the women's shot put. Teammate Amani Heaven also earned a PB with the mark of 15.60m. Milton Ingraham added on a personal best of his own in the men's shot put with an 18.08m.

The jumps squad was not to be outdone as Jacore Irving went on to finish first in the long jump with the mark of 7.50m. Alonie Sutton, after coming off an incredible indoor season, made her outdoor debut in style as she went 6.43m in the women's long jump earning her a personal best and the No. 6 spot on the FSU All-Time Top-10 list.

While jumping with two different shoes due to one of them being torn during the first jump, Jordan Wesner made his Seminole debut with incredible grace. He went on to take first in the high jump at the height of 2.12m.

Closing out day one of the FSU Relays was Jodie Judd in the women's 5,000m. To say she had an incredible race is an understatement. Judd went on to win the event clocking in at 16:47.96 and a whole 200m ahead of the pack.

Noles Honor Seniors On Final Day of FSU Relays.

March 26, 2021

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State Track and Field team honored the 24 seniors on the final day of the 41st FSU Relays at Mike Long Track.

"We have an awesome group of seniors," said Head Coach Bob Braman. "They have returned all of our programs to greatness. We are winning ACC Championships and chasing NCAA Titles in all six of our sports and this group of seniors is the biggest reason why. The last 12 months have been a challenge. They have stuck with us and led us through the battle. It has been awesome to see them grow and succeed through their time here."

The Seminoles recognized 14 men - Braxton Canady, Ari Cogdell, Steven Cross, Trey Cunningham, Tyler Dau, Fabian Edoki, Darryl Gay, Humberto Friere, Isaac Grimes, Jacore Irving, Kasaun James, Kasey Knevelbaard, Sanjae Lawrence, Jordan Wesner - and nine women - Julia Blankenbaker, Kayla Easterly, Shian Hyde, Jodie Judd, Jayla Kirkland, Shanice Love, Ka'Tia Seymour, Micaela Torres, Blessing Odiong.

Competition

"I was really pleased with our effort this weekend," said Braman. "We had lots of great performances and lots of likely Region marks, but we were really focused across all 19 events. The field events probably enjoyed the most success, but I was pleased with the progress of men's and women's sprints and hurdles."

The FSU throwers but on a spectacular showing once again, leading the way with two event wins, four personal bests and four new additions the the FSU All-Time Top-10 list.

Both the men and the women for discus throw were the first to strike. Milton Ingraham finished second overall with a massive personal best throw 57.90m. This mark moved him to No. 5 on the FSU All-Time list. On the women's side, Shanice Love was the collegiate winner of the event with her season best mark of 58.13m. Freshman Caisa-Marie Lindfors also shined in the discus moving up to No. 7 on the All-Time list with a PB of 55.21m.

The momentum continued for the throwers as we headed into the women's javelin throw. Kelechi Nwanaga took third, finishing with a personal-best throw of 52.92m and it's also the No. 3 mark in FSU history. Teammate Sara Zabarino finished right behind Nwanage in fourth with her final throw of 52.39m. Not only is this a personal-best throw but it also ranks No. 4 on the FSU All-Time list.

Highlighting the track action for the Noles was Trey Cunningham as he dominated the competition in the 110-meter hurdles with a 13.51. Although this was only his second best time in his career, Cunningham's performance is the fastest time in the world in 2021 thus far. It was a fitting way for one of FSU greats to finish his final home meet at Mike Long Track.

Fellow senior, Ka'Tia Seymour had her final showing in the 100-meter dash, finishing third overall with a time of 11.33.

It was just the start for the Noles sprinters as two FSU men's 4×400 relay teams were up next. The relay team of Damarre Martin, Alex Collier, DaeQwan Butler, and Ari Cogdell finished third in 3:09.00. Following right behind them in a time of 3:15.70 was the relay team of Cameron Daniel, Jo'Vaughn Martin, Don'drea Swint, and Cameron Leiba.

Closing out the day was Connor Phillips in the men's 1500-meter run, registering a new 7-second personal-best of 3:49.53.

Noles Start Strong at Florida Relays.

April 2, 2021

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Florida State Track and Field teams are off to a strong start at the Florida Relays. The first day featured three individual wins as well as four top-three finishes and more than 10 personal and season bests on Friday at Percy Beard Track at James G. Pressly Stadium.

"I was pleased with today's results," said Head Coach Bob Braman. "Our mantra is building momentum from meet to meet, and I believe almost everyone competing today accomplished that. Tomorrow will be another opportunity to improve and hopefully earn some Region qualifying marks."

Wildschutt Shines During Outdoor Season Debut.

April 17, 2021

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. and GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Adriaan Wildschutt made his Florida State outdoor season debut on Friday, posting one of the best 10,000-meter times in the nations and in school history. Wildschutt put on a show at the Virginia Challenge while the other half of the FSU track and field team were battling crazy weather conditions on day one of the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational at Percy Beard Track inside James G. Pressly Stadium.

The South African native competed in his first outdoor competition after coming off one of the most successful indoor track and cross country seasons in Florida State History. Wildschutt's event winning 10,000-meter time of 28:25.11 was not only a personal best but also shattered the FSU, ACC, meet and facility record.

Continuing the trend on the track at Virginia was Ahmed Muhumed who set a new personal best by 7 seconds in the 5,000-meter with a 13:52.25. His performance currently ranks No.7 on FSU's All-Time list.

"Adriaan and Ahmed ran fantastic races today!" said Head Coach Bob Braman. "They really set the tone for the ACC Championships next month."

Tom Jones Memorial Invitational

Due to the weather delay, things were off to a slow start for the rest of the Florida State track and field squad down in Gainesville. However, the Noles didn't let that stop them from having a strong first day showing.

Immediately after the lightning delay, Milton Ingraham headed back out in the men's discus to finish up runner-up with a throw of 56.80m (186'4"). Jordan Wesner also finished out competition in the men's high jump earning fourth place with 2.11m (6'11"). Also taking fourth place was Amani Heaven in the women's discus throw with a distance of 50.05m (164'2").

As the rest of the field events got pushed to later in the day, Maudie Skyring got things started on the track in the women's 1,500-meter, finishing first overall at a PB of 4:11.43 in her outdoor season debut. That time stands as the fifth-best in program history.

"Our 1,500-meter men and women ran well in both Virginia and Florida, so that bodes well for the future," said Braman.

The women's sprinters were next in the 200-meter dash as Ka'Tia Seymour led the pack finishing third overall clocking in at 23.42. Edidiong Odiong was next at eighth with the time of 23.75. Followed by Ashley Seymour in tenth at 23.84 and Shian Hyde in 11th in 24.02.

Florida State Finishes Tom Jones Invite With Unbelievable Performances.

April 17, 2021

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Florida State Track and Field team put on a show during day two of this year's Tom Jones Memorial Invitational, which was highlighted by performances from Jo'Vaughn Martin and Trey Cunningham inside Percy Beard Track at James G. Pressly Stadium.

"We had an unbelievable day today at the Tom Jones meet!" said Head Coach Bob Braman. "I'm so proud of how they dealt with 2 days of rain delays and kept their composure. And to then do so many things on the National level is incredible."

The most newsworthy of the Seminoles performances was Martin's astonishing time of 9.94 in the men's 100 meters. The Houston, Texas native not only recorded a personal best but also his time is currently the world lead, NCAA lead, ACC lead and No. 3 on FSU's All-Time Top 10 list.

Cunningham also shined on the final day in Gainesville earning a 110-meter hurdles personal best time of 13.28. The Winfield, Alabama native took second overall but first collegiately as Olympian Grant Holloway won the event with the fastest time in the world so far with a 13.07. Cunningham's time is still impressive as he moves up in the Florida State record books as the second-fasted 110-meter hurdles performance in school history.

Martin wasn't the only one who recorded a personal best in the 100 meters as the Noles also recorded two other top-10 performances. Taylor Banks finished fourth with his personal best time of 10.23 and Darryl Gay made his outdoor season debut with a personal best time in 10.41 to finish ninth.

The women also success in the 100 meters with Jayla Kirkland taking first place with the personal best time of 11.13. She beat out her own time to remain No. 2 on the FSU All-Time list and she also ranks No. 4 in the NCAA.

The sprinters continued their spectacular day of competition as the Seminoles relay teams put together huge PR's. First, in the women's 4x100, Kirkland teamed up with Shian Hyde, Ka'Tia Seymour and Edidiong Odiong to take first clocking in at 43.70, That time ranks seventh in the nation and it's the ninth-fastest in program history.

Also, in the 4x100, the relay team of Banks, Jhevaughn Matherson, Don'drea Swint and Martin put together a second place finish in the collegiate division with a time of 39.67. This regional qualifying time currently ranks No. 7 in the region.

Closing out the day on the track was the men's 4x400 relay squad of Alex Collier, Ari Cogdell, Damarre Martin and DaeQwan Butler who finished with the time of 3:04.27. While competing against the pro division the relay team finished third overall and took home the first place finish in the collegiate division. Once again, this performance ranks in FSU's All-Time Top-10 list at No. 5 and is also No. 7 in the NCAA.

Jumper Ruta Lasmane added to the Seminoles top performances in her outdoor season debut. Finishing first in the triple jump with the fourth-best mark in the nation this year with a leap of 13.81m. She now sits behind Seminole great Kimberly Williams as the second-best mark in school history. Alonie Sutton also had a notable performance in the triple jump with her best jump of 13.17m to take third.

"Our coaches have stayed with their plan all along and now have them coming into form in the heat of the Outdoor Track season," said Braman. "We knew that revving up too much for indoor season would limit our results outdoors and the athletes bought in. Now we go back to work to prepare for the ACC Championships in a month."

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Florida State men are in sixth place and the Seminole women are in 10th place after the first day of the 2021 ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the Paul Derr Track and Field Facility at NC State. Isaac Grimes was a winner on the men's side as he was victorious in the long jump competition.

"The men had a solid day one," said head coach Bob Braman. "We qualified well in the 200m with two of the top four times for Jo'Vaughn (Martin) and Kasaun (James), and Kasey (Knevelbaard) was an easy heat winner in the 1500m. Riley (Ott) had a good first day in the decathlon and is second place going to the final day tomorrow. We were perhaps three points better than projected - our first and fourth places in the long jump were key. Grimes kept his ACC undefeated streak alive and Jacore Irving was fourth placed which was better than projected.

"We'll need to qualify well tomorrow and get our field event points if we're going to be able to win another ACC Championship."

Grimes won the men's long jump competition with a jump of 7.75 meters. For Grimes, four of his five jumps were landed at 7.5 meters or better. Jacore Irving earned points for the Seminoles as he finished in fourth place in the event with a jump of 7.39 meters. Florida State was the only team with two performers in the top-10 of the final standings of the men's long jump.

Riley Ott is in second place after five events in the men's decathlon competition. He finished first in the 100 and 400 meter runs along with the long jump. He finished third in the high jump competition. With five events left to be contested in the event, Ott is only 154 points behind Duke's Evan Lee.

"The ladies had a good day one with three qualifiers in the 200m and two in the 1500m," said Braman. "Ruta Lasmane's lifetime best in the long jump got us three critical points as well."

Led by Jayla Kirkland, Edidong Odiong and Ka'Tia Seymour, the Seminole women will look to score well in Saturday's 200M final. Kirkland finished second in the Thursday's prelim (23.13), Odiong finished fourth in a personal best time of 23.30 and Seymour qualified for the finals in a time of 23.49.

Lasmane finished in sixth place in the long jump with a personal best jump of 6.17 meters. She totaled three or her five jumps at 6.0 meters or better.

Noles in contention for championships heading into final day at ACC's.

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Florida State women are in third place and the Seminole men are in fourth place after two days of the ACC Track and Field Championships at the Paul Derr Track and Field Facility at NC State University. The Seminole women begin Saturday's final day of competition only three points out of the team lead while the men have some ground to make up in order to win the team championship.

The women's squad moved from 10th place in the team standings to third heading into the final day of competition. With 37 points, the Noles trail first-place Notre Dame by two points and second place Virginia Tech by just one point. The men moved from sixth place into fourth place and are only one point out of third place. Virginia Tech holds a commanding lead in the men's competition with Notre Dame in second place.

"On the women's side, Miami is having a great meet and appears to be 10-12 point favorite but we have a chance for the upset if we can win some head-to-head battles in the 100m, 200m, 4×100 relay and the discus," said head coach Bob Braman.

"On the men's side, we definitely maximized our opportunities today."

The most outstanding performance of the day for FSU came on the women's side when Ruta Lasmane won the triple jump with the No. 2 jump in Florida State history of 14.20m. Not only was her jump the second best in the history of the Seminole program, but is also counted as an ACC Championships record and a record in the Paul Derr Track and Field Facility. Lasmane's winning jump of 14.20m bettered the second-place jump by Bria Matthews of Georgia Tech. Matthews' recorded a jump of 13.61m.

"The highlight for our women was the 1-2 sweep in the javelin," said Braman. "They beat their entry seeds and kicked the day off strong. Ruta's meet record in the triple jump led the way to three scorers and a plus four points for the event (versus our projection). We qualified three for the 100m final which is key for tomorrow's title chase."

Also earning gold for the Seminole women was Kelechi Nwanaga in the javelin with a personal-best throw of 54.93m. Nwanaga's first-place winning throw came on her first attempt of the competition. Teammate Sara Zabarino finished second in the event with a personal-best throw of 54.48m.

"The men qualified four of the top six spots in the 100m - that was certainly the highlight of the day for the men. But Riley Ott's second place (in the decathlon) and Jacore Irving's third place (in the triple jump) were key as well. Trey (Cunningham) dominated as expected, and DeaQwan (Butler) and Damarre (Martin) gave us two qualifiers for the 400m final."

Ott finished in second place in the men's decathlon with 6,674 points. He placed first in three of the 10 events contested - the 100m, 400m, and the long jump. He placed in the top four in nine of the 10 events and finished no lower than sixth in any competition in the two-day event.

Cunningham finished first in the second heat of the 110m hurdles preliminaries and is the top seed in Saturday's finals. He finished with a time of 13.67 - just ahead of Clemson's Devon Brooks who ran a time of 13.84.

Butler is seeded fourth and Martin (sixth) in Saturday's championship final of the 400m. He ran a time of 46.52, winning his heat in the preliminaries.

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Florida State men captured the outright ACC Championship and the Seminole Women finished as the Co-ACC Champions as the three-day ACC Championship Meet at the Paul Derr Track and Field Facility at NC State University came to an exciting conclusion. The Seminole men rallied from a fourth place standing after Day 2 to win its championship while the Florida State women charged back from third place to heading into the final round to finish as the co-champions with Duke.

"Our men were nearly perfect today," said head coach Bob Braman. "We left virtually no points out there, and even overachieved in most events. Virginia Tech made us work as they always do. I am very proud to be a double champion program."

The Florida State men won their 13th team championship and first since 2018. The men's title was the Seminoles' 11th while the women's crown was the fifth under Braman.

In the men's competition, FSU piled up 136 points, the most by any men's team since FSU scored 149 in 2013. Virginia Tech finished second (116.5), while Virginia placed third (92). On the women's side, Virginia took third with 92 points to follow Duke and Florida State.

Florida State's Kasaun James earned ACC Championship Men's Track MVP honors after picking up 20.5 points by winning the 200m dash, taking second in the 100m dash and running on the 400m relay team that took first place. The Seminoles' Jayla Kirkland won ACC Championship Women's Track MVP laurels. She racked up 20.5 points after winning the 100m dash, taking second in the 200 dash and being part of the winning 400m relay team.

The Seminole men scored points in virtually every event of the day on Saturday.

Florida State earned gold medal performances in the 4x100m relay (38.95) and individually by Adriaan Wildschutt in the 5000m (13.29.03), Trey Cunningham in the 110m hurdles (13.43), and James in the 200m (20.36). Silver medal winning performances came from Jo'Vaughn Martin in the 200m (20.41), James in the 100m (10.17), Jordan Wesner in the high jump (2.27m), and DaeQwan Butler in the 400m (45.83). The Seminoles ran a 38.95 and held off Clemson in the final 100 meters to earn the gold medal in the 4x100m relay. Clemson took second (39.17) and NC State (39.57) third. Florida State's James, Swint and Taylor Banks took second through fourth, respectively in the 100m. The Seminoles claimed the top two spots in the 200m James winning and Martin taking second.

In the 5000m race, Wildschutt grabbed an early lead and never relinquished it as he shattered the meet record in a time of 13:29.03. Wake Forest's Zach Falconi was on his heels until the final 200 meters when Wildschutt pulled away.

The women's team competition went down to the final race. Florida State held a seven-point edge heading into the 4x400m relay. Duke picked up 10 points with the relay win, while the Seminoles notched three with a sixth-place finish.

"This was the best ACC women's meet ever," said Braman. "Both in quality and competitiveness. Duke had an amazing meet but so did we. Honestly this was a just outcome. Neither team deserved to lose."

"I couldn't be more proud of the fight of our ladies. We came back from 29 points down in the final six events to become ACC champs - shared or otherwise."

The Florida State women claimed points in virtually every event to finish tied of the conference crown.
