September 26, 2025
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State swimming and diving team began the 2025-26 season with 16 wins on the first day of the FSU Invite on Friday night at the Morcom Aquatics Center.
The Seminoles were victorious in 16 of 22 events to open the two-day meet, with four 1-2-3 finishes and another four 1-2 finishes.
Both the FSU men and women are in first place by at least 40 points at the halfway point of competition. The men (185 points) lead Purdue (120), West Virginia (101) and Tampa (80), while the women (175 points) are ahead of Rice (130) and WVU (101.5).
"We had a great first day," FSU head coach Neal Studd said. "We came out and really nailed some great relays, we won all four relays which was amazing, that's huge points. Our divers were amazing, we won every board. We're excited, they leaned into the fun events and hopefully we can come back tomorrow morning and finish the job."
Sophomore Logan Robinson and freshman Martina Fanunza both won two individual events, and Fanunza added a relay victory in her collegiate debut. Sophomore Maryn McDade also won three events, one individually and two relays.
The Seminoles started the night off with a sweep in the 200 medley relay. The women took first and second place, with the A team finishing in 1:38.22 to win by nearly four seconds thanks to sophomore Alice Velden, Fanunza, McDade and senior Kiara Caamano. The men's team won behind seniors Max Wilson and Marcos Egri-Martin, sophomore Michel Arkhangelsky and senior Sam Bork with a time of 1:25:22.
In her first collegiate race, Fanunza won the 50 breaststroke in 28.78, just ahead of sophomore Amelia Marek in second place in 29.22.
Egri-Martin held on to win the 50 breaststroke in 24.37 for two early wins on the day, and sophomore Mathias Christensen took the crown in the 400 individual medley in 3:47.38.
Robinson's first victory of the day came in the 100 butterfly, leading a 1-2 finish in 46.70. His second win was in the 100 individual medley in 49.40.
The Florida State women went 1-2-3 in back-to-back events. The first was the 50 freestyle, led by McDade (22.72) and followed by freshman Antonina Biegajlo (23.45) and Caamano (23.48). One event later was the 200 breaststroke, where Fanunza (2:17.24) was followed by freshmen Caroline Agee (2:17.79) and Izzy Phifer (2:18.16).
Coming off a historic freshman year and ACC individual championship, Arkhangelsky took home his first individual event win of the year in the 50 freestyle with a time of 19.54.
Senior Tommaso Baravelli was first in the 200 breaststroke (1:59.60) before Velden (53.42) and senior Sarah Evans (53.84) went 1-2 in the 100 backstroke.
Meanwhile, the divers posted 1-2-3 finishes in both events. Sophomore Evelyn Hall (282.35), freshman Brooklyn Markusson (261.15), and redshirt senior Kayleigh Clark (257.20) led the women on three-meter and sophomores Noah Turner (282.15) and Carlos Vargas (269.10), and freshman Jack Sparks (260.65) took the podium for the men.
FSU finished the night by sweeping the 100 freestyle
relay. The women got it started in 41.00 behind McDade, Caamano, Evans, and Velden and the men capped it off in 35.14 thanks to Bork, Arkhangelsky, Wilson, and junior Gustav Olsson.
September 27, 2025
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State swimming and diving team concluded the season-opening FSU Invite in winning fashion with first-place team finishes on Saturday morning at the Morcom Aquatics Center.
The Seminoles recorded 32 event victories in 44 total events at the two-day meet. The women scored 360 points to defeat Rice (255) and West Virginia (205.5), while the men totaled 365 points to finish ahead of Purdue (239), West Virginia (186.5) and Tampa (167.5).
"This was a really great day," FSU head coach Neal Studd said. "We came out and got the job done and had some really fast swims across the board. I feel like we're ahead of where we need to be, which is really exciting. The last two years this meet has been canceled because of hurricanes, so it's really great to get it in, and I think everybody had a great time and competed well."
FSU won 16 of 22 events again on Saturday morning, with a pair of 1-2-3 finishes and another two 1-2 showings. Sophomore Michel Arkhangelsky won four total events, two individual and two relays, while fellow second-year Maryn McDade added two individual victories along with a relay win.
After notching 16 wins on Friday night, Florida State carried that momentum into the second day by sweeping the first event, the 100 medley relay. The women's team behind sophomore Alice Velden, freshman Martina Fanunza, McDade and senior Kiara Caamano finished with a time of 45.52, followed by the men's team of seniors Max Wilson and Marcos Egri-Martin, Arkhangelsky and senior Sam Bork in 37.74.
McDade notched her first individual victory in the 50 butterfly in 23.98 before Arkhangelsky posted his first individual win in 20.77. Bork (20.85) was second as the Seminoles went 1-2 in the event. Both McDade and Arkangelsky returned later in the day to sweep the 100 freestyle, in 50.03 and 42.75, respectively.
After winning two individual events on Friday night in her collegiate debut, Fanunza collected her third individual victory of the weekend in the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.99 to lead a 1-2-3 FSU finish alongside fellow freshmen Avery Vassil (1:04.07) and Caroline Agee (1:04.18).
Senior Sophie Freeman recorded her first individual win of the season in the 200 butterfly in 2:00.62, while sophomore Logan Robinson secured his third win of the weekend in the 200 butterfly to complete another Seminole sweep in 1:43.83.
On the springboard, sophomore Evelyn Hall earned the win on 1-meter with 252.00 points, while the men had a 1-2-3 finish on 3-meter. Sophomore Hayden Schroeder led the way with 288.75 points, followed by junior Jack Bessire (282.95) and freshman Jack Sparks (277.25).
Velden (24.52) and senior Sarah Evans (25.42) went 1-2 in the women's 50 backstroke and Wilson (22.05) won the men's race. Agee added a victory in the 200 IM (2:02.79) for her first collegiate victory.
The Seminoles closed the meet with sweeps in the 200 freestyle relay. The women's team of McDade, Evans, Caamano, and junior Maysa Ratiu took first in 1:31.68, and the men joined them in victory in 1:17.63 with Bork, junior Gustav Olsson, Wilson, and Arkhangelsky.

FSU Tops Army, Falls to NC State on Day One of Dual Meet Tournament.
ATLANTA, Ga. - The No.18/RV Florida State swimming and diving team opened the Dual Meet Tournament on Friday with a win over Army before falling to NC State in the second round on Friday at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta.
The Seminoles started the day with a win over Army, claiming the 547-231 combined-score victory. The team controlled the meet from start to finish, winning 18 of 22 events and collecting eight 1-2 finishes. In the second-round winner's bracket, FSU posted seven individual event wins but fell to NC State 453-322.
"It was an amazing day with some outstanding swimming and diving," FSU head coach Neal Studd said. "The team performed really well, and we are looking forward to taking on Auburn tomorrow."
With today's results, Florida State advances to face Auburn in Saturday's third-place event to conclude the Dual Meet Tournament.
Sophomore Maryn McDade highlighted the day with a time that ranks No. 4 in FSU's record books in the 50 freestyle. Redshirt senior Kayleigh Clark earned three wins in four springboard events, while sophomores Michel Arkhangelsky and Mathias Christensen each won two individual events in the pool and sophomore Hayden Schroeder registered two diving titles.
FSU set the tone early against Army with a sweep in the 200 freestyle relays. McDade, freshman Antonina Biegajlo, sophomore Nika Steigerwald and senior Kiara Caamano led the way for the women (1:30.88), while senior Sam Bork, junior Andrew Rich, senior Max Wilson and junior Gustav Olsson also took first (1:18.82) on the men's side to complete the sweep.
From there, the Seminoles kept the momentum rolling. Senior Sarah Evans opened the individual events with a win in the 200 backstroke (1:58.84). Arkhangelsky followed to win the 100 butterfly (45.82), part of a 1-2 finish with Logan Robinson (46.91).
McDade added an individual win in the 50 freestyle, finishing in 22.33. It's the fourth-fastest time in FSU history.
Christensen earned a win in the 200 individual medley (1:45.73) and senior Utku Kurtdere took home the 200 freestyle title (1:36.60).
Senior Julia Mansson recorded her first individual victory of the year in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.82), while junior Maysa Ratiu (4:57.61) and freshman Ioana Stirbu (5:01.54) led a 1-2 finish in the 500 freestyle on the women's side. The men matched, with sophomore Fred Lindholm (4:29.35) and senior Jaka Pusnik (4:30.27) going 1-2 in their 500 freestyle.
Arkhangelsky added another win in the 50 freestyle (19.60) to cap off a two-victory meet. Freshman Caroline Agee picked up her second collegiate win in the 200 individual medley (2:02.58) to lead another 1-2 finish with the help of freshman Avery Vassil (2:04.46).
The Seminoles were just as dominant on the boards, sweeping both the men's and women's 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. Clark led the women with wins in both events and Schroeder did the same for the men.
Florida State closed the dual with another sweep in the 400 medley relays. The women's team of sophomore Alice Velden, Mansson, senior Sophie Freeman and McDade finished in 3:37.38. Wilson, senior Tommaso Baravelli, Robinson and Arkhangelsky secured the men's win in 3:10.97.
After defeating Army, the Seminoles advanced to face NC State in the second round.

Christensen led the team in the dual, winning both the 200 breaststroke (1:56.34) and the 200 individual medley (1:44.86). Robinson added his first individual victory of the day in the 200 butterfly (1:34.01).

"It was a really good day," FSU head coach Neal Studd said. "Obviously, any time on the men's side, when you beat an SEC opponent like that, it's a great day. The women really stepped up, they have a very strong team, and I thought we did really well, a little bit better than I thought we would. Overall, I'm really happy. There are still some areas to work on, but we'll work on that and keep moving forward for LSU and Alabama."
Sophomore Logan Robinson took first in the 200 freestyle (1:35.78) while Wilson (47.41) and junior Andrew Rich (47.86) went 1-2 in the 200 backstroke.

November 18, 2025 ATHENS, Ga. - The No. 16/NR Florida State swimming and diving team opened the
Georgia Invite with a pair of school records and a victory in the men's 800 freestyle relay on Tuesday. FSU totaled four top-10 times in school history to begin the four-day meet that featured four
top-20 teams. Sophomore Michel Arkhangelsky, juniors Andrew Rich and Gustav Olsson and sophomore Logan Robinson combined to win the 800 freestyle relay, setting a program record with a time of
6:10.65. It also is an NCAA qualifying mark. Arkhangelsky also set a school record in the 200 freestyle while leading off the relay in 1:32.71. "It was just an amazing first night for us," FSU
head coach Neal Studd said. "Everybody across the board was excited and had great energy. Obviously, qualifying relays to NCAAs this early in the season is awesome. We had some amazing swims across
the board, the milers did great, some incredible relay splits, and I'm just excited about an amazing start. I'm looking forward to seeing what we can do as we get through this meet." The four-day
meet at Georgia's Gabrielsen Natatorium includes five programs, four of them being top-20 opponents: host-No. 8/18 Georgia, No. 14/16 Alabama, No. 4/7 Florida, Georgia Tech and No. 13/11 LSU. In
the women's 200 medley relay, sophomore Alice Velden, senior Julia Mansson and sophomores Maryn McDade and Mary Leigh Hardman posted a time of 1:36.41 to place fourth, recording the seventh-fastest
performance in school history. Florida State added another standout 200 medley relay performance on the men's side, as seniors Max Wilson, Tommaso Baravelli and Sam Bork and Arkhangelsky finished
second in 1:22.23. The time also is an NCAA qualifier and the second-fastest in program history. November 19, 2025 ATHENS, Ga. - The No. 16/NR Florida State swimming and diving team continued its strong showing at the Georgia Invitational on Wednesday with another school
record. Highlighted by sophomore Logan Robinson setting the FSU record in the 200 yard freestyle, the Seminoles notched seven top-five finishes and posted five top-10 times in school history on the
second day of the four-day meet. The meet at Georgia's Gabrielsen Natatorium features five other programs, four of which are ranked inside the top 20 nationally. "Our team came in ready to race
today," FSU head coach Neal Studd said. "To see records fall on back-to-back nights is a credit to how hard this group has worked. We're excited to keep building through the rest of the meet."
Robinson swam the 200 freestyle in 1:31.77, breaking the school record just 24 hours after sophomore Michel Arkhangelsky set the previous mark at 1:32.71 to begin the week. The duo topped a
five-year-old record of 1:32.76, set by Peter Varjasi in 2020. Senior Tommaso Baravelli placed second in the 100 breaststroke final with a time of 51.68. His NCAA-qualifying time is the
second-fastest in program history and a personal best. On the women's side, Julia Mansson also produced an NCAA-qualifying time of 1:00.17 in the 100 breaststroke final. Four divers advanced to
championship rounds in their respective events. Sophomore Evelyn Hall (279.25) and redshirt senior Kayleigh Clark (274.45) finished third and fourth respectively in the 1-meter final. On the men's
side, junior Jack Bessire placed seventh in the 3-meter final with a score of 322.60, followed by sophomore Noah Turner in eighth with a score of 309.80. In prelims, sophomore Mathias Christensen

the top-eight championship rounds. "It was another great day for us," FSU head coach Neal Studd said. "I'm excited to see another school record go down with Max Wilson. He's been working really
hard and doing great things every day. The men now have four NCAA relay A cuts, which we're super excited about. The divers are also doing great things, and across the board, I'm just excited to be
ahead of a couple of big SEC teams on the men's side and excited to see how we can close it out tomorrow." In the team standings, the No. 16-ranked FSU men are in third place with 486.5 points,
ahead of No. 13 LSU (372.5), No. 14 Alabama (325) and Georgia Tech (203), while No. 4 Florida (605) and No. 8 Georgia (526) are in first and second. The women are in fifth place (294.5 points) behind
