Beach Starts the Season With 5-0 Sweep of ULM.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The second-ranked Florida State beach volleyball team (1-0) started the season off with a bang as they earned a 5-0 sweep of ULM Friday afternoon.
The Seminoles took it to the Warhawks with five two set wins and another one coming on the exhibition court. Freshmen Maddie Anderson, Keara Rutz and Liz Waters-Leiga, along with junior Alice Zeimann all won their first matches in the Garnet and Gold.
Pairs four, five and the exhibition pair went off first as the Noles quickly jumped out to a 2-0 lead. Redshirt senior Payton Caffrey and Waters-Leiga got things started for the Noles with a 21-14, 21-11 win out of the four spot. Sophomore Lexi McKeown and Rutz gave the Noles a 2-0 lead heading into the second wave with a huge 21-7 first set win and backed that up with a 21-11 win in the second set.
Florida State jumped out fast in the second wave of matches as well, not allowing ULM to earn more than 13 points in a set. Sophomore Kate Privett along with Anderson clinched the match for the Seminoles with a 21-11, 21-10 win on court three. Senior Molly McBain and junior Alaina Chacon extended the lead to four with a 21-9, 21-13 win on court one. Zeimann and junior Madison Fitzpatrick capped off the sweep for the Noles with a 21-12, 21-12 win on court two.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The second-ranked Florida State beach volleyball team (4-0) continued their fast start to the season with three wins, including a 4-1 win over No. 9 Stetson and a 5-0 win over No. 16 TCU.
The Seminoles have swept three of their four matches this season with 5-0 wins over Houston Baptist and TCU.
The Seminoles got the day started with their second sweep in as many matches against Houston Baptist. The Noles played the same five pairs that started the season.
Sophomore Kate Privett and freshman Maddie Anderson got things rolling for Florida State with a 21-10, 21-13 win on court three. Senior Molly McBain and junior Alaina Chacon quickly followed things up with a dominating 21-8, 21-9 win on court one. Senior Payton Caffrey and freshman Liz Waters-Leiga clinched the match for the Noles with a 21-10, 21-19 win on court four.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State earned their first ranked win of the regular season as they defeated No. 9 Stetson 4-1. The Seminoles had one change to the lineup as sophomore Jenna Johnson entered on court five.
Caffrey and Waters-Leiga improved to 3-0 as a pair as they won 21-15, 21-13 to get the Seminoles on the board. McBain and Chacon quickly followed suit earning a 21-14, 21-18 win on court one. Rutz and Johnson clinched it for the Noles with a 21-18, 21-13 win on court five.
Privett and Anderson extended the Seminole lead to 4-0 with a 22-20, 21-16 win on court three. The Seminoles then surrendered their first point of the season on court two as Zeimann and Fitzpatrick won the first set before losing the next two.

Privett and Anderson continued to dominate, remaining perfect with a 21-15, 21-14 win on court three. Johnson and Rutz earned their second win as a pair with a 21-14, 21-13 win on court five to give the Noles a 2-0 lead. McBain and Chacon clinched the win with a 21-10, 21-17 win on court one for their fourth win together in the early season.
Fitzpatrick and Zeimann extended the lead to four with a 21-14, 21-15 win on court two. Caffrey and Waters-Leiga capped off the match with a three-set win on court four that saw the pair killing some shots in the final set on the way to a 15-8 win.

Beach Improves to 7-0 With Perfect Opening Weekend.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The second-ranked Florida State beach volleyball team (7-0) stayed unbeaten with three more wins on the final day of the Seminole Beach Bash. The Noles earned ranked wins over No. 7 Cal Poly and No. 13 South Carolina. FSU finished off the tournament with their fifth sweep of the early season over Tampa.
Florida State started day two with yet another ranked win, their third of the season and second over a top-10 team. Florida State improved to 4-0 all-time against Cal Poly with the 4-1 win Sunday morning.
Senior Payton Caffrey and freshman Liz Waters-Leiga improved to 5-0 on the year with a 21-10, 21-13 performance on court four to give the Noles their first point. Senior Molly McBain and junior Alaina Chacon continued to show why they are on court one with a 21-12, 21-18 win.
Cal Poly Narrowed the lead as they go their only point of the match on court two with a 21-15, 21-18 win. That did not phase the Noles as sophomore Kate Privett and freshman Maddie Anderson clinched the match with a 21-17, 22-20 win on court three.
With the match already clinched sophomore Jenna Johnson and freshman Keara Rutz showed fight after losing the first set 21-19. They went on to take the second set 21-17 before falling behind in the final set 6-2. They battled their way back to take the final set 15-9.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Ranked win number four for the Noles also came as their fourth sweep of the season after a 5-0 win over No. 13 South Carolina.
Like clockwork Caffrey and Waters-Leiga were the first pair off capturing a 21-17, 21-9 win on court four. It was the fourth time this weekend that they were the first pair off. Privett and Anderson gave Florida State a 2-0 lead with a 21-15, 21-10 win on court three. The match was then clinched by McBain and Chacon on court one with a 21-14, 21-11 win on court one.
Johnson and Rutz kept pilling the points on as the earned a 21-17, 21-17 win on court five. Zeimann and Fitzpatrick rebounded from their loss earlier in the day with a 22-20, 24-22 win on court two to complete the sweep.

Fitzpatrick and Zeimann got the Noles on the board first with a dominant 21-11, 21-9 win on court two. Waters-Leiga and Caffrey capped off their perfect weekend with a 21-15, 21-14 win on court four. Junior Ashley Robert and sophomore Lexi McKeown clinched the match for the Noles in their first match together with a 21-14, 21-15 win on court five.
Privett and Anderson extended the lead to four with a 21-9, 21-19 win on court four. McBain and Chacon were in a battle on court one. They lost the first set 22-20 but came back to take the second set 21-15. They trailed early in the final set but continued to battle back and take the third set and the match 15-9.

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The third-ranked Florida State beach volleyball team (9-0) went 2-0 on day one of the Hilton Head Island Invitational. FSU defeated two ranked teams, including a 4-1 win over No. 10 Grand Canyon (4-1) and a 5-0 win over No 17 South Carolina (1-4).
Florida State started the weekend off with a hard-fought 4-1 win over No. 10 Grand Canyon. The Noles took points from pairs one through four.
The match started with pairs four, five and six on court first. The Noles jumped out to early leads from pairs four and six in the first sets. Those then turned into the first points for the Noles. Sophomore Lexi McKeown and junior Ashley Robert grabbed the exhibition court with a score of 21-13, 23-21. Senior Payton Caffrey and freshman Liz Waters-Leiga were the first pair to get the Noles on the board. They dominated Natalie Honzovicova and Katie Hess of Grand Canyon, winning 21-9, 21-11.
Grand Canyon bounced back taking the point from the fives pair of Jenna Johnson and Keara Rutz 21-18, 21-18.
The second wave of matches began as all three courts were highly contested. Senior Molly McBain and junior Alaina Chacon got the lead back for the Noles as they took court one in straight sets, 21-19, 21-17.
The rest of the match would not go without some drama as juniors Madison Fitzpatrick and Alice Zeimann would go on to three sets. They would lose the first set 21-18 before coming back to take the second set in extra points 22-20. The third set would be more of the same as FSU and GCU exchanged points until Fitzpatrick and Zeimann would clinch the match for the Noles with a 16-14 third set win.
Court three was a lot of the same. Sophomore Kate Privett and freshman Maddie Anderson got out to an early lead with a 21-13 first set win. They would not be as fortunate in the second set, losing 26-24. They were then forced into extra points in the final set as well, before going on to win 17-15.

The duo lost the first set 21-17 before taking the final two sets 21-14, 15-13.
Anderson and Privett would go on to be the first team to finish in the second wave of matches and clinch the match for Florida State. They took the first set 21-12 and the second set 21-19 to give FSU a 3-0 lead. Chacon and McBain earned the Seminoles' third straight-set win of the match with a 21-16, 21-15 win on court one.
Zeimann and Fitzpatrick capped off play for the day on court two. They took the first set 21-16 and battled to a 22-20 second set victory.

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The third-ranked Florida State beach volleyball team (10-1) split their two matches on the final day of the Hilton Head Island Invitational. The Noles opened the day with a 5-0 win over College of Charleston before coming up just short against No. 4 USC 3-2.
The Seminoles started the day with their seventh sweep in the first 10 matches of the season. The Noles totally dominated College of Charleston, allowing no more than 10 points in five of the 10 sets played.
Florida State performed well in the first wave of matches taking courts four and five in straight sets. Sophomore Morgan Chacon and freshman Keara Rutz put the Noles on the board first with a dominant performance on court five. They took the first set 21-12 and improved on that in the second set, taking the set 21-8 and the match. Senior Payton Caffrey and freshman Liz Waters-Leiga gave the Garnet and Gold a 2-0 lead heading into the second wave of matches with a 21-15, 25-23 win on court four. In the second set the Seminole duo fell behind 20-17 before tying it up at 20. After exchanging points with College of Charleston, the FSU pair pulled ahead and won the second set 25-23.
With today's win, Payton Caffrey moves into sole possession of first place for most wins at FSU on court four.
Wave two got underway with total domination from the Seminoles on courts one, two and three. The three pairs did not allow more than eight points in the first set and allowed a combined 21 points on three courts. Sophomore Kate Privett and freshman Maddie Anderson clinched the match on court three. After dominating the first set 21-7 they did not ease off the gas, winning 21-10 in the second set.
With the match already in hand, senior Molly McBain and junior Alaina Chacon cruised to a win on court one. The pair only allowed 15 total points, winning 21-6, 21-9. Juniors Madison Fitzpatrick and Alice Zeimann capped it off with a 21-8, 21-14 win on court two.

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The third-ranked Florida State beach volleyball team (10-1) split their two matches on the final day of the Hilton Head Island Invitational. The Noles opened the day with a 5-0 win over College of Charleston before coming up just short against No. 4 USC 3-2.
Florida State suffered their first loss of the season in a tightly contested 3-2 match against No. 4 USC. The match came down to a third set on court two which the Seminoles went on to lose 15-13.
The Seminoles got out to a hot start in the first wave, capturing the first point of the match on court four. Caffrey and Waters-Leiga grabbed the first set 21-16 and turned that into a 21-13 second set.
On court five, Chacon and Rutz were down most of the match but tied it up at 19. The match would go to extra points and USC would win 22-20. The Seminole duo would bounce back in the second set taking it convincingly 21-15. With the third set tied at five, the Noles could not get the lead as they would go on to lose the final set 15-13.
Heading into the second wave of matches tied at one, the Seminoles would lose all three first sets. USC would take its first lead of the match with a 21-19, 21-17 win on court three. Florida State would tie it up at two with a big three-set win on court one. McBain and Chacon lost the first set 21-19 but bounced back to take the next two sets 21-17, 15-10.
The fate of the match hinged on court two as Fitzpatrick and Zeimann lost the first set 21-18. They bounced back to take the second 21-15. In the final set the two teams continued to exchange blows. Down 14-12 Florida State was able to narrow it to 14-13 but would lose the final set 15-13.

Beach Volleyball Reaches 200 Program Victories.
The Seminoles are the Second NCAA beach Volleyball program to achieve 200 wins.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - It was a historic moment for the third-ranked Florida State beach volleyball team (12-1) on Saturday afternoon in Jacksonville, Fla. as they became just the second program in collegiate beach volleyball to reach 200 program victories after a pair of wins over UNCW and UNF.
With the wins over UNCW and UNF the Seminoles reached exactly 200 all-time wins in just the programs ninth year of existence. 135 of those 200 wins came from current head coach Brooke Niles. Florida State trails only USC in the win column who entered the weekend with 207 wins.
Along the way to 200 FSU has earned four straight CCSA Conference Championships and has finished NCAA runner-ups twice and AVCA runner-ups once.
Florida State took care of business to start the day with their seventh sweep of the season in a 5-0 win over UNCW.
Senior Payton Caffrey and freshman Liz Waters-Leiga got things started for the Garnet and Gold on court four with a 21-6, 21-11 win. The 21-6 first set marked the third time this season that the Seminole duo held their opponent under 10 points in a set on court four.
Sophomore Jenna Johnson and freshman Keara Rutz once again paired up together on court five to earn their fifth win together. They dominated UNCW's Katie Lanz and Rachel Schaffer 21-9, 21-5. Their win is Florida State's largest win of the season through 12 matches.
The match was finished with three more straight-set wins in the second wave of matches. On court three, junior Alice Zeimann along with sophomore Kate Privett earned their first win together 21-11, 21-14 to clinch the match. Junior Madison Fitzpatrick and freshman Maddie Anderson earned their first win together as well on court two with a 21-17, 21-15 win.
Senior Molly McBain and junior Alaina Chacon improved to 12-0 on the season with a 21-11, 21-17 win to finish off the sweep of the Seahawks.

Senior Sara Putt teamed up with sophomore Lexi McKeown for her first match of the season on court five and won in dominating fashion, 21-17, 21-7. Privett and Zeimann gave the Noles a quick 2-0 lead with a 21-19, 22-20 win on court four.
The match was then clinched by Caffrey and Waters-Leiga, this time on court three. The duo won 21-10, 21-18. With the match already in hand, Fitzpatrick and Anderson extended the lead to 4-0 with a 21-12, 22-20 win on court two.
McBain and Chacon capped off the eighth sweep of the season on court one. They won the first set 21-10 before losing the only set of the day for FSU 21-18. They bounced back to take the final set 15-10.
