Noles Split Opening Day Doubleheader in Puerto Vallarta.

PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico - The Florida State softball team (1-1) kicked off its 2025 season on Thursday at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. FSU defeated Northern Colorado, 7-1, in game two of the day after they fell to No. 4 Oklahoma State, 9-6, in the first game of the day.

Game One (Florida State 6 Oklahoma State 9)

In game one of the day, it was the Cowgirls who jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings, but Jaysoni Beachum picked up right where she left off in her freshman season with a bomb down the left field line to get the Noles on the board. Oklahoma State got a run back in the bottom of the fourth, but the Noles responded as Kerr led off the inning with a walk before Harp put two runners in scoring position with a double. Widra picked up an RBI on a sacrifice fly to cut the lead to two, but the Noles were unable to bring any more runs across.

Oklahoma State scored five runs in the fifth and sixth inning to push its lead to 9-2. FSU did not go down without a fight as Harp and Beachum each hit two-run home runs to cut the lead to three, but the rally stopped there.

Beachum and Harp led the way with five RBI and two hits apiece. Harp recorded two hits as well for the Seminoles. Harp ended the day going 6-for-7 from the plate.

Game Two (Florida State 7 Northern Colorado 1)

The Noles got off to a hot start in game two against Northern Colorado as the Noles scored two runs with two outs thanks to back-to-back singles from Isa Torres and Michaela Edenfield which allowed Katie Dack to bring them home on a double.

Jahni Kerr led off the second inning with a triple, and Kennedy Harp brought her home on a single. Harp advanced to third thanks to an error by the Northern Colorado outfield and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly from Annabelle Widra to make it 4-0.

The Bears scored an unearned run in the bottom of the third to cut the lead to one, but freshman Jazzy Francik shut down the Bears in her first-ever collegiate start. Francik went six innings without allowing an earned run while striking out four and allowing just one walk.

The Noles added some insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning thanks to a RBI single from Kerr and two-RBI double from Harp to give the Noles a commanding 7-1 lead.

Widra came in to pitch the final inning and struck out the final batter to finish off the Bears.

Harp finished 4-for-4 against the Bears with three RBI. Isa Torres was 3-for-4 while Kerr was 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Noles Use Hot Start to Roll Past Bulldogs.

PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico - Katie Dack hit a grand slam in the first inning to help the No. 12 Florida State softball team (2-1) roll past Louisiana Tech (1-1), 6-3, on Friday afternoon in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

The Noles got off to a great start as Isa Torres beat out a throw to lead off the game with an infield single. Jaysoni Beachum and Michaela Edenfield drew back-to-back walks to set the stage for Dack. Dack smashed a 2-0 pitch deep to left field to give the Noles a 4-0 lead before the Bulldogs could record an out. The Noles kept the scoring going with an Amaya Ross single. Hallie Wacaser hit into a fielder's choice and stole second then Kennedy Harp scored her on a triple where the left fielder lost the ball in the sun.

Starting off with a 5-0 lead, Annabelle Widra got her first start as a Seminole was fantastic, retiring the first six batters over the course of the first two innings. Widra finished her outing after 2.2. innings, allowing just one hit with one strikeout without surrendering a walk.

The Noles added another run in the top of the third as Wacaser led off the inning with a single. Freshman Addie DeLong came in to pinch run for Wacaser and immediately stole second and advanced all the way home thanks to a couple of errors from the Bulldogs to give the Noles a 6-0 lead.

LA Tech cut the lead in half with three unearned runs in the bottom of the fourth.

The Noles got great bullpen outings from Julia Apsel and Jazzy Francik as the two threw the final three innings and allowed just two hits while striking out seven. Apsel earned her first win as a Seminole while Francik earned her first collegiate save.

Softball Run Rules No. 4 Oklahoma State and Louisiana Tech.

PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico - The No. 12 Florida State softball team (4-1) ended the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge on a high note on Saturday as they picked up two run-rule victories over No. 4 Oklahoma State (2-2), 8-0, and Louisiana Tech (2-3), 9-1, both in five innings on Saturday evening in Puerto Vallarta Mexico. FSU's win over No. 4 Oklahoma State was the Noles' second run-rule win over a top-five team in school history and the first since beating No. 1 Alabama, 8-0, five years ago to the date.

Game One (Florida State 9 Louisiana Tech 1; 5 innings)

The Noles got off to a great start once again against the Bulldogs as Katie Dack continued her hot weekend with a solo shot out of the park with two outs in the first inning to give the Noles the early lead.

The Noles stayed with the long ball as Jahni Kerr hit her first home run of the season with a rocket to right field to make it 2-0 in the second.

The Noles added another run with two outs in the third when Kennedy Harp tripled for the second consecutive game to score Katie Dack who reached base on a walk.

Krystina Hartley who had a huge night off the bench as she came in and hit a three-run bomb in her first at-bat of the season to increase the lead to 6-0. It was Hartley's second career home run and her first since Feb. 19, 2023, against Louisiana.

Louisiana Tech's only run of the night, came as an unearned run as Makenna Reid shut them down in 4.1 innings, only giving up three hits and one walk before being replaced by Ashtyn Danley who finished off the final inning. Reid was credited with the win to improve to 26-1 in her career.

In the fifth inning, Hallie Wacaser homered to left field scoring Harp. To seal the deal and forcing a run rule, Hartley had a sacrifice fly to score Addie DeLong, who entered the game as a pinch runner for Ross on second base after Ross doubled to left field.

Game Two (Florida State 8 Oklahoma State 0; 5 innings)

The Noles used some timely hitting and a great pitching performance from Annabelle Widra and Jazzy Francik to dominate the Cowgirls in the rematch.

It was a pitcher's duel in the first two innings as neither team recorded a hit. The Seminoles broke through in the third inning as Hartley started things off with an infield single and advanced to second on a groundout. Back-to-back walks loaded the bases for FSU, and Harp stepped in with two outs and delivered once again with her third triple of the week to clear the bases to give the Noles a 3-0 lead.

The Cowgirls had their best chance to get on the board in the top of the fourth inning with a couple of two-out singles, but Widra shut the door and got the flyout to end the inning.

FSU's offense went right back to work in the bottom of the fourth inning as Amaya Ross was hit by the first pitch she saw. Kerr laid down a beautiful bunt, and without hesitation, Ross rounded second and headed to third. The throw to third went wide allowing Ross to score and Kerr to advance to third. Hartley hit a fly ball deep enough to score Kerr to give the Noles a 5-0 lead after four innings.

Francik came in and retired the Cowgirls in order, and the Noles quickly loaded the bases with no outs. Kerr singled up the middle to score two more runs, and Isa Torres ended the game in walk-off fashion to give the Noles the run-rule victory.

Widra and Francik combined to allow just two hits without walking a batter. Widra picked up her first win as a Seminole.

Harp earned MVP honors for the tournament. Harp finished the week going 10-for-15 (.667) with three triples, two doubles, one home run and 10 RBI. Dack and Francik were also named to the All-Tournament Team. Dack finished the tournament with four hits, two home runs and seven RBI. Francik did not allow a single earned run in eight innings and walked just one batter compared to seven strikeouts. Francik picked up a win and a save in her first two collegiate appearances. She joins Bailey Schinella in 2012 as the only other Seminole to accomplish that feat.

Florida State 9, Missouri 1
02/13/2025, Shriner Children's Clearwater Invitational, Clearwater

Seminoles Dominate No. 16 Missouri From Start to Finish in 9-1 Win.

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The No. 9 Florida State softball team (5-1) kicked off the Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational Thursday in dominating fashion as the Noles defeated No. 16 Missouri (4-2), 9-1, in six innings in the opening game of the tournament. This the first time FSU has ever run-ruled a ranked opponent in back-to-back games in program history. FSU run ruled No. 4 Oklahoma State last Saturday.

Isa Torres opened the game up with an infield single, and Jaysoni Beachum drew a walk to put runners on first and second for Michaela Edenfield. The redshirt senior blasted a no-doubter over the left field fence for her first home run of the season to give the Noles a 3-0 lead.

In the bottom of the first, Missouri answered back with a leadoff home run, but Annabelle Widra settled in and retired the next eight batters to keep the Missouri offense at bay.

Katie Dack led off the top of the third inning with a double, and Edenfield again came through with a single to bring Dack home to make it 4-1. The reigning ACC Player of the Week in Kennedy Harp blasted her second home run of the season to give the Noles a 6-1 lead.

Torres led off the fourth inning with her second hit of the day as she laid down a great bunt and beat out the throw. Beachum delivered with a double into the gap to score Torres to make it 7-1. On the very next pitch, Dack hit her third home run of the season over the left field fence to put the Noles one run away from run-rule territory. Torres would give the Noles the eight-run lead with her first home run in the top of the sixth.

The Noles had a great pitching outing with starting pitcher Annabelle Widra only giving up one run and two hits in four innings and striking out four. Jazzy Francik came out of the bullpen and was great, giving up no runs, no hits, and striking out two in two innings. WIdra was credited with the win to improve to 2-0.

Noles Bash Four Home Runs in 9-1 Win Over Ohio State.

CLEARWATER, Fla. - A series of home runs in the second inning helped the No. 9 Florida State softball team (6-1) run rule its fourth opponent in a row, Ohio State (4-1), in a 9-1 win in five innings on Friday afternoon at the Shirners Children's Clearwater Invitational in Clearwater, Fla.

The Buckeyes got on the board first, but Ashtyn Danley got a ground ball to force a double play to help the Noles get out of the inning. The Noles came back from the early deficit in the bottom of the first when Kennedy Harp doubled and scored Jaysoni Beachum and Michaela Edenfield, who reached on base with a single and double, respectively. Harp scored on a Hallie Wacaser single, improving the score to 3-1. Harp has recorded a hit and a RBI in all six of the Seminoles' games this season.

The Noles added six more runs in the second with a solo home run from Jahni Kerr, a two-run shot by Isa Torres that scored Danley. Another two run shot by Edenfield, scoring Beachum who was put on base by a walk, and a solo home run by Harp, increasing the lead to 9-1. FSU has hit four home runs in each of its last three games. In all of 2024, FSU hit four or more runs four times. FSU's four home runs in the inning tied a school record for most home runs in a single inning. FSU hit four home runs last season against Purdue and in the 2019 Tallahassee Regional against USF.

After giving up four hits in the first inning, Danley settled in and allowed just one more hit in the next two innings to prevent the Buckeyes from gaining any momentum. Julia Apsel entered the game with a 9-1 lead in the fourth. Aspel closed out the game not giving up a run and striking out four of ten batters faced.

No. 9 Softball Scores 14 Unanswered Runs In Two Innings to Blow Past Wichita State.

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The No. 9 Florida State Softball team (7-1) used an offensive onslaught in the fifth and sixth innings where they scored 14 unanswered runs in the two innings to blow past Wichita State (6-3) in a 15-5 win in six innings on Saturday night at the Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational. The Noles have now run ruled their last five opponents which is the program's longest streak since 2019.

The Noles opened up the scoring in the first inning as Kennedy Harp extended her hitting streak to eight games with a single. Harp stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch to put herself in scoring position for Michaela Edenfield with two outs. Edenfield delivered with a ground ball that drove the second baseman into the outfield, and Edenfield beat out the throw to give the Noles the lead.

Wichita State answered back to take the lead 2-1 in the top of the second and added two runs in the third and one run in the fifth to take a 5-1 lead.

After the previous five Noles were retired, Isa Torres broke the dry streak in the top of the fifth inning with a single. Jaysoni Beachum roped one off the center field wall for an RBI double to score Torres. Harp kept the party going with her fourth home run of the year, and in just three batters, the Noles were within one. Edenfield continued the rally with a double, and Jahni Kerr picked up a single to put runners on the corners with one out. Amaya Ross was hit by a pitch to load the bases then Katie Dack drew a walk to tie the game. Annabelle Widra then cleared the bases with a triple off the right field wall to give the Noles the 8-5 lead after five innings.

Jazzy Francik shut down the Shockers in the top of the sixth inning, and the Noles got right back to work in the bottom of the sixth inning. Harp led off the inning with a walk, and Edenfield hit a rocket over the left field fence to extend the lead. Hallie Wacaser was hit by a pitch and was relieved on the base paths by Addie DeLong who advanced to second on a wild pitch. DeLong moved to third on a sacrifice bunt from Kerr. Ross scored DeLong on a single to right field to make it 11-5. Dack reached on a fielder's choice, but Ross beat out the throw. Krystina Hartley walked to load the bases, then Torres hit a moonshot into right field for the grand slam which ended the ball game.

Edenfield and Harp led the way for the Noles as they went a perfect 7-for-7 at the plate with two RBI a piece. Harp has now recorded a RBI in every single game this season. With tonight's home run, Edenfield is now tied for third all-time with Kalei Harding for most career home runs in FSU history with 46.

Francik was credited with the win as she went two innings and allowed just one hit while striking out three.

Noles Finish Perfect 4-0 Week with 8-1 Win Over UCF.

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Florida State softball team (8-1) closed out the Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational with an 8-1 win over UCF (7-5-1) on Saturday night. FSU finished a perfect 4-0 in the Clearwater Invitational marking a tournament record third time FSU has finished undefeated in Clearwater in the tournament's history.

Back-to-back singles from gave the Knights the first threat of the game in the bottom of the first inning, but starting pitcher Annabelle Widra made a huge play throwing out UCFs lead runner at third to reach two outs then went on to strike out the next batter to end the inning.

The Noles got back-to-back singles from Katie Dack and Jahni Kerr to lead off the second inning. Dack and Kerr moved to second and third on a throwing error, and Dack scampered home on a wild pitch to give the Noles the lead. Amaya Ross hit a deep fly ball to score Kerr on a sacrifice fly to give the Noles the 2-0 lead.

Kennedy Harp extended her hitting streak to 11 games dating back to last season with a single in the third inning. Michaela Edenfield was hit by a pitch, and both runners moved into scoring position on a wild pitch. Dack smoked a ball to the gap in right field, but a strong wind kept it in the yard and gave time for the outfielder to make the catch, but Harp was able to tag up and score from third.

After a scoreless fourth inning, Jaysoni Beachum and Harp opened up the fifth inning with a pair of singles. Edenfield then hit a hard ground ball to the second baseman that she couldn't handle to allow Beachum to score. Dack got her second RBI of the night on another sacrifice fly. Kerr hit a ground ball deep enough to allow Madi Frey to score to make it 6-0.

Torres laid down a great bunt in the sixth inning, and Beachum reached on an error to put runners in scoring position for Harp. Harp roped one into left field to extend her RBI streak to nine games. Harp is the only player in FSU history to record a RBI in each of the first nine games of the season.

The Knights would put a run on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth to cut down the deficit to 7-1.

The Noles threatened again in the top of the seventh thanks to a walk from Dack, a single from Kerr and drawn hit-by-pitch by Angelee Bueno. Ashtyn Danley picked up her first RBI of the year on a sacrifice fly.

Widra was phenomenal in the circle again for the Seminoles as the senior from Hoover, Alabama, pitched a season-high five innings and did not allow a run while striking out two. Widra improved to 3-0 this season and has allowed just one run in 16.2 innings this season.

Jazzy Francik came on in relief in the sixth inning and did allow a run but bounced back with a clean inning in the seventh including a strikeout for the final out of the game.

Noles Defeat Florida A&M for Ninth-Straight Win.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 8 Florida State softball team (9-1) earned an 11-0 win in five innings over Florida A&M (3-5) on Thursday afternoon. The Noles extended their win streak to 31 against the Rattlers dating back to 2006 and improved to 120-7 all-time against Florida A&M.

In the top of the first, starting pitcher Ashtyn Danley quickly earned two outs from a pop up and a ground out to the infield. After a walk, Danley closed with a strikeout on the Rattlers' cleanup batter to give the Noles offense a chance on the field.

With the bases loaded after three starting walks, Michaela Edenfield hit a line drive to right field to clear the bases and score Jaysoni Beachum, Kennedy Harp and Katie Dack to give the Noles a 3-0 lead after the first inning.

Danley's recorded two strikeouts in the top of the second to sit the Rattlers down in order.

Krystina Hartley stepped up big in the bottom of the third with a double up the right field line to score Danley from second. Shelby McKenzie had a hard hit groundball to second which scored Hartley for her first career RBI to make it 5-0. Edenfield picked up her fourth RBI on a bases loaded walk. Edenfield's four RBI moved her to seventh all-time in FSU history with 165 career RBI. With the bases loaded again, Hallie Wacaser came through with a two-RBI single to right field to make it 8-0.

The Rattlers began the fourth with a double and a walk, but thanks to two strikeouts from Danley and a quick infield play from Beachum, FSU held Florida A&M scoreless.

Harp continued her dominant season at the plate with her 10th consecutive game with an RBI. At two outs in the fourth, she crushed a ball to right center and got to third unchallenged for her fourth triple of the season which is tied for the most in the country.

Beachum made a great diving play at third and made a throw to her knees to get the first out of the fifth inning. Madi Frey then caught a runner stealing for the second out, and Mimi Gooden, who came in for relief at the start of the inning, earned the game-ending strikeout.

Danley's time in the circle was nothing if not stellar. She recorded a season-high seven strikeouts, allowing only one hit and no runs from the Rattlers offense in four innings.

Offensive performances by the top of the Noles lineup propelled them to their victory over Florida A&M. Harp brought her batting average to an impressive .714 with a triple, an RBI and three walks. Edenfield recorded a double and helped earn four of Florida State's 11 runs. As a team, the Noles' drew 14 walks which is a new school record.

Noles Take Down Southeastern Louisiana Doubleheader Sweep.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 8 Florida State softball team (11-1) gutted out two wins over Southeastern Louisiana (9-5) on Thursday evening at the JoAnne Graf Classic at JoAnne Graf Field. FSU won game one 5-0 and took down the Lions 5-4 in nine innings in the nightcap.

Game 1

The Noles got a great pitching performance from Julia Apsel and Jazzy Francik and used some timely hitting to defeat the Lions 5-0 in the first game of the day.

Neither team recorded a hit in the first two innings, but the Noles got things going in the third inning as an Isa Torres single and a walk Kennedy Harp set the stage for Michaela Edenfield. Edenfield delivered with a triple to right field to give the Noles a 2-0 lead.

The Lions threatened in the top of the fifth inning, but Francik came and shut the door to strand a runner at third.

Torres singled up the middle again to lead off the bottom of the fifth inning, and Edenfield and Katie Dack drew back-to-back walks to load the bases for Hallie Wacaser. Wacaser was hit by a pitch to bring the runner home to make it 3-0.

The Lions got some momentum in the top of the sixth as a double and an error put runners on second and third with one out. Francik came through in the clutch again and forced two ground balls to keep the Lions off the board.

Jaysoni Beachum picked up an RBI single to give the Noles some insurance, and Annie Potter scored on a wild pitch to give the Noles a 5-0 cushion. Francik retired the Lions in the top of the order to earn her second save of the season.

Julia Apsel got the start in the circle and was terrific as she went 4.1 innings and allowed just three hits while striking out two. Apsel improved to 2-0 on the season.

The Lions jumped all over the Noles in the first two innings to build a 4-0 lead. Ashtyn Danley came in to relieve Francik and stifled the Lion offense for the final seven innings. Danley pitched seven scoreless innings, allowed just one hit and struck out a career-high nine batters. Danley has recorded 16 strikeouts in her last two outings.

The Noles were unable to get anything going on offense until Amaya Ross singled, and Krystina Hartley reached on an error to put runners on the corners in the bottom of the third inning. Torres reached on a fielder's choice and picked up the RBI as Ross came home to score to give the Noles their first run of the game.

Ross led off the bottom of the fifth inning with a walk, and Torres came through again with a RBI-double to cut the lead to two.

The Noles were unable to get anything going in the sixth, but the rally started with a Hartley walk in the bottom of the seventh. Torres ripped on into left field to score Hartley, and Beachum singled through the left side to put runners on the corners for one of the hottest hitters in the country, Kennedy Harp. Harp delivered with a single to tie the game and ultimately send it into extra innings.

Danley retired eight consecutive batters to end the game to set the stage for a walk off for the Noles.

Much like the seventh inning, Hartley walked to get the rally going, and Torres singled to put runners on first and second with no outs. Both Hartley and Torres moved up a base to put two runners in scoring position for Beachum. Beachum delivered with a base hit to right field to give the Noles the walk-off victory.

Noles Fall to No. 6 Texas A&M on Saturday.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 8 Florida State softball team (11-3) fell to No. 6 Texas A&M (14-1) on Saturday afternoon in the JoAnne Graf Classic. FSU fell 6-3 in eight innings in game one and 10-4 in game two.

Game 1

The Noles got off to a great start in front of a packed crowd at JoAnne Graf Field as Annabelle Widra got the start in the circle and kept the Aggies scoreless in the top of the first.

Jaysoni Beachum walked in the bottom of the first to give the Noles their first baserunner of the day, and Kennedy Harp singled to put Beachum in scoring position. Michaela Edenfield hit a slow ground ball that found its way through the 3-4 hole to bring Beachum home. Hallie Wacaser then continued her solid week with a single that scored both Harp and Edenfield to give the Noles a 3-0 lead after the first inning.

The Noles had another great chance in the bottom of the second as they loaded the bases with one out but were unable to bring any runs home.

Widra continued to stifle the Aggies, but they finally got on the board with a solo home run in the top of the fourth to cut the lead to two. The Aggies added two more runs in the top of the fifth to tie the game at three.

The Aggies threatened again in the top of the seventh and loaded the bases with two outs, but Jazzy Francik came in and got the final out to keep the score tied.

The Aggies broke through in the top of the eighth by scoring three unearned runs with two outs to take a 6-3 lead. FSU was unable to rally in the bottom half of the inning and eventually, fell to the Aggies.

No. 8 Softball Run Rules FGCU in Dugout Club Classic Opener.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 8 Florida State softball team (12-3) opened up the Dugout Club Classic with a 10-2 win in five innings over Florida Gulf Coast (6-14) on Thursday night at JoAnne Graf Field. Seven out of FSU's 12 wins this season have come via run rule.

The Noles wasted no time getting on the board as Isa Torres led off with a solo home run to give the Noles the early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first.

Julia Apsel had two clean innings, and the offense got right back to work in the bottom of the second inning as Katie Dack led off with a single. Shelby McKenzie drew her first of three walks, and Torres hit her second home run in as many at bats to give the Noles the 4-0 lead. Thursday night was Torres' first multi-home run game as a Seminole.

The Eagles struck back in the top of the fourth with two runs of their own, but FSU got one run back as Jaysoni Beachum reached on an error to bring a run home to make it 5-2.

Ashtyn Danley relieved Apsel in the top of the fourth inning and faced the minimum to keep the Eagles in check and pick up her first save of the season.

Four walks pushed a run across for the Noles in the bottom of the fifth, and with the bases loaded with two outs, Annabelle Widra smoked a ball to center field for a triple and advanced home on a poor throw to end the game. In two at bats with bases loaded this season, Widra has hit two triples with six RBI.

Apsel picked up the win to improve to 3-0 as she went 3.1 innings and struck out two. Danley allowed just one hit but forced a double play to leave the bases empty.

No. 8 Softball Powers Past FGCU and Mercer.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 8 Florida State Softball team (14-3) picked up two more run-rule victories on Friday afternoon as they defeated Florida Gulf Coast (6-16) 10-2 in six innings and Mercer (8-7) 14-0 in five innings on Friday at the Dugout Club Classic.

Game 1

The Noles used a six-run fourth inning to pull away from the Eagles for their second consecutive run-rule win in the first game of the doubleheader.

After a scoreless first two innings, the Eagles got on the board first with two runs in the top of the third. The Noles responded in the bottom half of the inning as Angelee Bueno led off the inning with a single, and Jaysoni Beachum doubled to bring her home to put the Noles within one.

The Noles got the scoring going in the bottom of the fourth inning as Katie Dack hit a two-run moonshot for her fourth home run of the season to give the Noles the lead. The Noles took an advantage of Eagles' error which allowed Annabelle Widra to triple to give the Noles another run. After a walk from Isa Torres, Beachum hit her third home run of the season to give the Noles a commanding 7-2 lead.

The Noles took advantage of another error as Katie Dack reached second because of it, and Shelby McKenzie drove in Dack with a single up the middle for her third RBI of the season in the bottom of the fifth inning.

The Noles got right back to work in the bottom of the sixth, needing just two more runs for the run rule. The Noles got two immediate baserunners thanks to a hit-by-pitch and a walk. Amaya Ross and Isa Torres each moved into scoring position on a wild pitch, and Beachum picked up the RBI on a groundout to give the Noles the 9-2 lead. Madi Frey ended the game with a single to left field to give the Noles another run-rule victory.

The Noles got another great outing in the circle as Jazzy Francik and Widra combined for the six innings. Francik got the start and struck out a season-high seven batters in 3.2 innings. Widra got credit for the win and allowed just one hit in 2.1 innings while striking out three. Widra improves to 4-0 this season in the circle.

Game Two

The Noles used another big inning to run away in a 14-0 win over Mercer for their largest margin of victory since a 14-0 win over Pitt on May 9, 2021.

Annie Potter got the scoring going in the bottom of the third inning with her first home run in the Garnet and Gold and just her third career home run to give the Noles the 1-0 lead. Beachum reached on an error, and Harp hit her fifth triple of the season to score Beachum and would go on to score on a groundout from Michaela Edenfield to give the Noles a 3-0 lead.

The offensive power came alive in the bottom of the fourth inning as the Noles scored 11 runs on 13 hits with 17 different batters coming to the plate. FSU's 11 runs in an inning is tied for the fifth-most in school history.

The offense started with Beachum and Harp who hit back-to-back no-doubters to bring four runs across. Two singles and a walk loaded the bases for Jahni Kerr who delivered with a single to bring home Shelby McKenzie and Addie Delong. Delong picked up her first career hit earlier in the inning on a bunt single.

Ross, Potter, Torres and Ashtyn Danley hit four consecutive singles to bring three more runs across and keep the bases loaded for Frey who singled down the left field line to bring home two more runs to extend the lead to 14-0.

Julia Apsel picked up the win as she started and went four innings and allowed just one hit while striking out four. Danley and Mimi Gooden combined to throw the last three outs as each recorded a strikeout.

10 different Noles recorded a hit on Friday night and eight different players recorded a RBI.

No. 8 Softball Powers Past FGCU and Mercer.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 8 Florida State softball team (16-3) continued its domination in the Dugout Club Classic on Saturday with a 19-1 win over Mercer (10-8) and an 8-0 win over Charleston (4-13), both in five innings. FSU finished the Dugout Club Classic a perfect 5-0 and outscored its opponents 63-5 in five-consecutive run-rule victories. FSU has now won 11 out of its 19 games via the run rule.

Game 1

The Noles scored twelve runs in the first inning never looked back on their way to a 19-1 five inning run-rule victory over Mercer in the first game of the doubleheader.

After the Bears scored their only run in the top of the first, Isa Torres led off the inning with a triple and immediately scored on a groundball from Jaysoni Beachum to tie the game. Kennedy Harp hit her sixth triple of the season and beat out the throw home on a fielder's choice hit by Michaela Edenfield. Katie Dack scored Edenfield on a single to make it 3-1. The Noles loaded the bases through an error and a walk, and Ashtyn Danley was walked to make it 4-0. The offensive onslaught continued as Torres, Beachum, Harp, Dack and Hallie Wacaser each recorded hits to drive in eight more runs to make it 12-0. FSU's 12 runs in the inning are tied for the third-most in school history. Going back to last night, FSU scored 23 runs in back-to-back innings as they scored 11 in the fourth inning last night and 12 in the first inning this afternoon.

In the second inning, the Noles loaded the bases through a single by Ashtyn Danley, a double by Anabelle Widra, and a bunt by Torres. Beachum picked up another RBI on a fielder's choice, and Edenfield doubled to right center to make it 15-1.

Harp hit her second triple of the game to score Madi Frey who reached on a fielder's choice. Harp became the first Seminole since Dani Morgan in 2017 to hit two triples in a game. Harp has now hit seven triples this season which is already tied for the 10th-most ever in a single season.

Following Harp's triple, Edenfield hit a home run over the center field wall, and two batters later, Wacaser hit her second home run of the weekend over the left field wall.

Starting pitcher Makenna Reid faced nine batters over two innings, striking out one before she was relieved by Ashtyn Danley. Danley, who was credited for the win, three innings and allowed just one hit while striking out five. Combined, the two pitchers allowed only three hits.

Edenfield led the way with a season-high five RBI in the game. The Noles recorded 18 hits which was the second-most ever in a game in program history. FSU's 19 runs were the third-most in school history and the 18-run scoring margin was the third-largest margin of victory in program history.

Game 2

The Noles started off hot with a five-run first inning to earn their fifth consecutive run-rule win of the series with an 8-0 victory over Charleston.

After a clunky start to the first inning due to an illegal pitch review, Julia Apsel struck out three out of the four batters she faced to keep the Cougars off the board.

Torres started off the bottom half of the inning with a walk, and Beachum single to put runners on the corners for Harp. Harp hit a groundball deep enough to pick up the RBI to give the Noles a 1-0 lead.

With runners still on the corners, Edenfield stole second which allowed Beachum to advance home. Shelby McKenzie doubled to score Edenfield, and Kerr and Potter hit back-to-back RBI singles to give the Noles a 5-0 lead after one inning.

Edenfield led off the bottom of the third inning with a double, and McKenzie picked up another RBI on a single up the middle to make it 6-0.

Beachum hit her third home run of the week to put the Noles in run-rule territory with an 8-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. Francik came in and finished the job with a game-ending strikeout in the top of the fifth inning.

Apsel was phenomenal as she struck out a season-high nine batters in four innings to improve to 5-0 on the season. Apsel allowed just two hits and had a stretch where she retired six of the eight batters she faced via strikeout.

No. 9 Softball Picks Up Two Wins in Jacksonville.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The No. 9 Florida State softball team (18-3) began its eight-game road trip with two wins over Jacksonville (11-8) and UNF (18-7) on Wednesday evening at the UNF Softball Complex. FSU defeated Jacksonville, 9-1, in the first game of the day and UNF, 5-3, in the nightcap. FSU has now won seven-straight games.

Game 1

The Noles used some timely hitting and took advantage of Jacksonville's errors to take down the Dolphins 9-1 in the first game of the day.

Isa Torres opened the game by advancing all the way to second on a throwing error and moved to third on a groundout. Kennedy Harp brought her home on a sacrifice fly to put the Noles up 1-0.

The Noles got right back to work in the second inning as a Hallie Wacaser single, an error by Jacksonville and a single by Shelby McKenzie loaded the bases for Annabelle Widra. Widra delivered with her first of two RBI of the day to make it 2-0. Jaysoni Beachum and Harp drew back-to-back walks with the bases loaded to make it 4-0.

The Noles continued its scoring in the top of the third inning as Katie Dack hit her fifth home run of the season to left field to extend the lead to 5-0.

The Noles took advantage of another Dolphins' error as Harp advanced all the way to third and scored on a sacrifice fly from Michaela Edenfield.

Widra hit her fourth triple of the season in the top of the fifth inning to make it 7-0, and the Noles added two more runs in the top of the seventh as Angelee Bueno picked up her first RBI of the season on a double, and Torres singled to right field to put the Noles up 9-0.

Julia Apsel got the start for the Noles in the circle and was terrific as she only allowed two hits in four innings with five strikeouts to earn the win. Jazzy Francik came in relief and struck out three batters in three innings to pick up the save.

Game 2

The Noles blasted three home runs and made some clutch defensive plays late in the game to hold on to a 5-3 win over UNF.

After a scoreless first inning, Amaya Ross got on base on a single, and Widra blasted a two-run home run over the right field fence to give the Noles a 2-0 lead.

The Ospreys got a run back in the bottom of the second, but Harp worked a full count and hit her sixth home run of the season to extend the lead to two in the top of the third. Edenfield reached on an error, and Dack doubled to center field to score Edenfield to make it 4-1.

The Ospreys wouldn't go away as they cut the lead to one again in the bottom of the fourth.

Dack hit her second home run of the day on the second pitch she saw in the top of the fifth inning to extend the lead to 5-3.

The Ospreys threatened again in the bottom of the fifth and had a runner on third, but Hallie Wacaser fired a throw from left field to get the runner out at home to keep the lead at two. Widra went on to retire the last six batters of the game to keep UNF off the board. Widra got credit for the win as she went four innings and did not allow an earned run. Danley got the start in the circle and did not allow an earned run either in three innings.

No. 9 Softball Splits Doubleheader on Friday.

EUGENE, Ore. - The No. 9 Florida State softball team (19-4) split a doubleheader on the first day of the Jane Sanders Classic in Eugene, Oregon. FSU beat Oregon State (9-11), 8-0, in five innings in the first game of the day and fell to No. 12 Oregon (21-1), 2-0, in the nightcap.

Game 1

There was no sluggish start for the Seminoles in game one against the Beavers as they run ruled Oregon State 8-0 in five innings.

Jaysoni Beachum was the first baserunner aboard for the Seminoles in the top of the first as she drew a four-pitch walk. Kennedy Harp hit her nation-leading eighth triple on the first pitch she saw to give the Noles the early 1-0 lead.

Shelby McKenzie led off the second inning with an infield single, and Amaya Ross doubled to put two runners in scoring position for the Noles. Annabelle Widra hit a fly ball to center field to score McKenzie, and Isa Torres hit a double to score Ross to make it 3-0. Harp picked up her second hit of the day on a little pop up that squirted away from the second baseman to allow Torres to score. Harp stole second to move into scoring position, and Michaela Edenfield brought her home on a single up the middle to make it 5-0.

Hallie Wacaser led off the top of the third inning with a no-doubt home run to left field to make it 6-0. Wacaser picked up two more RBI in the top of the fourth to give the Noles the 8-0 lead.

Freshman Jazzy Francik was terrific in the circle for the Noles as she pitched five scoreless innings and allowed just three hits while striking out six. Francik improved to 3-1 on the season and became the first Nole this season to pitch a complete game.

No. 9 Softball Downs Oregon State on Saturday.

EUGENE, Ore. - The No. 9 Florida State softball (20-4) picked up its 20th win of the season on Saturday as they defeated Oregon State (9-12), 8-2, at Jane Sanders Stadium in Eugene, Oregon.

Jaysoni Beachum opened the scoring for the Noles right out of the gate as she hit her sixth home run of the season via a solo shot to left field to put the Noles up 1-0. Oregon State tied up the game in top of the second inning.

The Beavers threatened again in the top of the third as they put a runner on third with no outs and had runners on the corners with one out. Julia Apsel picked up a huge strikeout then recorded a popout to end the inning unscathed.

Jahni Kerr led off the bottom of the fourth inning with a bunt single followed by a single from Ashtyn Danley. An error on a fielder's choice loaded the bases for the Noles, and Kennedy Harp delivered with a two-out double to give the Noles a 3-1 lead.

The Beavers responded with a run in the top of the fifth inning, but the Noles got right back to work in the bottom of the inning as Hallie Wacaser drew a walk, and Shelby McKenzie doubled down the left field line to score Wacaser to make it 4-2. Angelee Bueno pinch ran for McKenzie and eventually scored a sacrifice fly from Annabelle Widra.

The offense carried over into the bottom of the sixth inning as Harp led off the inning with a single and immediately advanced to the third on a stolen base and an error and scored on a Michaela Edenfield sacrifice fly. Katie Dack and Bueno hit back-to-back doubles to extend the lead to five, and Amaya Ross hit blooped one into left field to make it 8-2.

Apsel picked up the win to improve to 7-0 on the season as she went 4.1 innings and struck out three. Jazzy Francik was phenomenal out of the bullpen as she retired all eight batters she faced to pick up her fourth save of the season.

No. 10 Softball Completes Series Sweep Over Pitt on Saturday.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 10 Florida State softball team (25-5, 3-0) picked up two wins on Saturday as they defeated Pitt (10-16, 0-6) 13-0 in five innings in game one of the day and 3-1 in the series finale.

Game 2

The Noles used three clutch solo home runs and a phenomenal pitching performance from Jazzy Francik to defeat the Panthers in the series finale.

Pitt got on the board first with a solo home run in the top of the first then a pitcher's duel broke out as neither team could get anything going until Edenfield hit her fifth home run of the season in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game.

After both teams went down in order in the fifth, Harp broke the tie in the bottom of the sixth with a solo home run down the left field line. Two batters later, Hallie Wacaser hit a solo shot to give the Noles some insurance.

After Ashtyn Danley got the start and went two innings, Francik entered the circle for the Noles and pitched a gem. Francik earned her fourth win of the season as she went five innings, allowed just one hit and struck out seven.

No. 9 Seminoles Rally Back to Defeat No. 24 Alabama on the Road.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - A three-run home run from Katie Dack and a bullpen masterclass from Julia Apsel helped the No. 9 Florida State Seminoles (26-5) storm back to pick up a 5-2 ranked road win against No. 24 Alabama (21-10) on Wednesday night in front of over 3,800 fans at Rhoads Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. FSU has now won four of the last five matchups between the Seminoles and the Tide at Rhoads Stadium and has won seven out of the last nine meetings with the Tide.

The Tide got out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but Ashtyn Danley got a groundout to leave the bases loaded to prevent any further damage. Danley settled in and allowed just two hits in the next three innings to keep the Crimson Tide off the board.

With just one hit through three innings, the Seminole offense made some great adjustments the second time they saw starting pitcher Jocelyn Briski. Michaela Edenfield and Dack picked up back-to-back singles in the top of the fourth to put a runner in scoring position for Jahni Kerr with two outs. Kerr delivered with a double to left center field to score both Edenfield and Dack to tie the game at two. The Tide threatened in the bottom of the fifth inning as they got two runners on with one out, but Apsel came in to relieve Danley and got back-to-back strikeouts to end the inning.

The Noles' offense used the momentum in the top of the sixth inning as Kennedy Harp singled up the middle, and Edenfield walked to put two runners on for Dack. Dack delivered a with her eighth home run of the year over the left field wall to give the Noles a 5-2 lead. Dack now has three home runs eight RBI in her last 10 games.

Apsel shut down the Crimson Tide in the final two innings as she did not allow a baserunner and struck out the final two batters to end the game to improve to 10-0 on the year.

No. 9 Softball Blasts No. 18 Duke In Five Innings.

DURHAM, N.C. - A seven-run fifth inning helped the No. 9 Florida State softball team (27-5, 4-0) run past No. 18 Duke (21-10, 4-3) in a 12-4 win in five innings on Friday night at Duke Softball Stadium. Friday marked FSU's 15th run-rule victory of the season, and the Noles' second ever run-rule win against Duke and their first run-rule win against Duke since April 26, 2019. FSU is also off to its best start since 2022.

The Noles wasted no time putting pressure on the Blue Devils as Isa Torres drove the first pitch of the game right up the middle to give the Noles an immediate baserunner. Kennedy Harp singled, and Michaela Edenfield walked to load the bases for Katie Dack with one out. Dack hit a fly ball just deep enough to score Torres from third to give the Noles a 1-0 lead. Jahni Kerr singled into left field to give the Noles a 2-0 lead after the top half of the first. Kerr has recorded a hit in six out of her last seven games and is 8-for-12 with five RBI in her last five games.

Duke got one run back in the bottom of the first on an error and hit two two-run home runs in the second and third innings to take a 4-2 lead.

The Noles got back to work in the top of the fourth inning as a Hallie Wacaser single and a bunt single from Annabelle Widra put runners on the corners for the Noles with two outs. Torres was hit by a pitch to load the bases for Jaysoni Beachum who delivered with a huge double into the game to clear the bases and give the Noles a 5-4 lead.

Duke threatened again in the bottom of the fourth, but Jazzy Francik got a groundout to end the inning to keep the lead with the Noles.

The Noles continued its success on offense in the fifth inning as they recorded seven runs on six hits with 12 batters coming to the plate. Edenfield drew a leadoff walk, and Katie Dack hit her ninth home run of the year and her second in as many games to put the Noles up 7-4. Addie DeLong was hit by a pitch, and Wacaser smoked one over the left field fence to extend the lead to five. The onslaught continued as Widra doubled and singles from Torres and Harp put two more runs on the board. Harp eventually scored on a wild pitch to put the Noles up 12-4.

Francik retired the side in order to end the game to give the Noles the run-rule win. Francik picked up the win in the relief performance as she pitched three scoreless innings, recording a strikeout and allowing just two hits. Francik improved to 5-2 this season with the win.

Eight different Noles recorded a hit on the night with Torres, Harp, Edenfield, Kerr, Wacaser and Widra each had multi-hit nights.

No. 9 Softball Takes Series from No. 18 Duke in 12-11 Thriller.

DURHAM, N.C. - The No. 9 Florida State softball team (28-5, 5-0) fought off a fierce rally from No. 18 Duke (21-11, 4-4) in a 12-11 win on Saturday afternoon at Duke Softball Stadium.

After a scoreless first inning, the Noles opened up the second inning with a couple of free passes to put Michaela Edenfield and Katie Dack on base. Jahni Kerr laid down a phenomenal bunt that squirted its way all the way to the outfield to score Edenfield. Hallie Wacaser singled to left field to bring home Dack, and the Noles were up 2-0.

Duke responded with a two-out single to cut the lead to one in the bottom of the second, but Ashtyn Danley stranded the bases loaded to keep the lead.

Edenfield and Kennedy Harp hit back-to-back singles, and with runners on second and third, Kerr laid down another great bunt to score Harp to start the two-out rally. Wacaser singled again to score Edenfield to make it 5-1. Angelee Bueno and Ashtyn Danley hit back-to-back singles for Isa Torres who delivered with a bases-clearing double to give the Noles an 8-1 lead.

Danley retired the side in order in the bottom of the third, and the FSU offense got right back to work as Jaysoni Beachum led off the inning with a double, and Harp hit an infield single to put runners on the corners for Edenfield who hit her 50th career home run to right center to give the Noles an 11-1 lead.

The Blue Devils started its rally in the bottom of the fifth inning as they hit a three-run home run to cut the lead to 11-4 and hit another two-run home run in the sixth to cut the lead to five.

The Noles added an insurance run in the top of the seventh as Beachum doubled to right center to score Torres to make it 12-6.

The Blue Devils had one more rally in them as a two-run home run cut the lead to four. The Blue Devils used two errors, a single and a fielder's choice to cut the lead to one with runners on second and third with two outs. A walk loaded the bases for the Blue Devils, but Danley forced a groundball to Beachum at third who was able to keep it in front of her and step on third base to end the game and give FSU the series win.

Danley picked up the win after pitching the first four innings and coming back to get the final two outs in the seventh. Danley allowed just one earned run on four hits while striking out two.

Torres led the way offensively with three hits and three RBI. Wacaser and Edenfield each picked up three RBI on three hits. FSU tallied 17 hits on the day with 10 different players recording a hit.

No. 9 Softball Sweeps No. 18 Duke; Finishes Week 4-0 Against Ranked Foes.

DURHAM, N.C. - The No. 9 Florida State softball team (29-5, 6-0) capped off a great week as it completed the series sweep against No. 18 Duke (21-12, 4-5) with a dominating 9-2 win over the Blue Devils on Sunday afternoon at Duke Softball Stadium. This is FSU's first road sweep over an ACC ranked team since they swept No. 18 Virginia Tech on Apr. 20-22, 2023. FSU finished the week 4-0 against ranked opponent and outscored its opponents 38-19 in the four games.

Jaysoni Beachum got things started with a moonshot of a home run in the top of the first inning to give the Noles a 1-0 lead. Beachum now has 10 home runs and 33 RBI on the season.

Annabelle Widra got the start in the circle and was terrific as she retired 9 out of the first 10 batters she faced to keep the Blue Devils' offense in check.

The Noles' bats stayed hot in the third inning as Angelee Bueno singled and advanced all the way to third on an error to immediately give the Noles a runner in scoring position. Isa Torres doubled up the middle to put the Noles up 2-0. Beachum was intentionally walked and a after a couple of fielder's choices, Katie Dack hit an infield single, and Jahni Kerr singled through the left side to put FSU up 4-0.

Hallie Wacaser and Amaya Ross hit a couple of singles in the fourth inning, and after Ross stole second, Torres picked up her second and third RBI of the day on a single to center field to give FSU a commanding 6-0 lead.

Duke responded with a couple of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to cut the lead to four, but FSU responded with another run in the fifth inning as Ashtyn Danley singled up the middle to extend the lead to five. The Noles added two more runs in the top of the sixth as Dack picked up her second and third RBI of the day on a single to give FSU a commanding 9-2 lead.

Danley had another great outing in the circle as she relieved Widra in the fourth inning and threw four scoreless innings to pick up her sixth win of the season to improve to 6-1. Danley pitched 8.2 innings against the Blue Devils and allowed just one earned run on the weekend.

Torres led the way with a 3-for-5 afternoon with three RBI. Bueno, Dack, Danley and Kerr also picked up multi-hit games for the Noles.
