Women's Golf: Wallin And Heath Earn Golfweek All-American Honors.

June 14, 2021

by Chuck Walsh

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Beatrice Wallin and Charlotte Heath, who helped lead Florida State to one of the top seasons in school history in 2021, have been named as All-Americans by Golfweek. Wallin was named as a First-Team All-American, while Heath was named as an Honorable Mention All-American by the editors of one of the nation's top golf publications.

Wallin has now earned All-American honors from Golfweek in each of her first three seasons as a Seminole - First Team in 2021 and Honorable Mention in 2019 and 2020. She has earned five different All-American citations during her career (three from Golfweek and two from the Women's Golf Coaches Association). Heath earned All-American honors for the first time in her career from Golfweek in 2021.

Florida State, Duke, Wake Forest, and Louisville were the only ACC teams who had at least one player named to the First, Second, Third or Honorable Mention All-American Teams by Golfweek. With Wallin earning First-Team honors and Heath earning Honorable Mention honors, the Seminoles were one of only three teams from the ACC with multiple players named All-Americans by Golfweek.

Wallin, who was named as the 2021 ACC Golfer of the Year, was the only player from the ACC named to the All-American First-Team by Golfweek.

Wallin and Heath both earned All-ACC Honors in 2021; Wallin for the second time and Heath for the first time in her career. Both Wallin and Heath earned All-ACC Honors as freshmen - they are two of the five freshm2n in school history who have earned All-ACC honors.

Wallin finished as the ACC Championship stroke play runner-up with a 7-under par score of 209. She won her first two individual championships in 2021 — at the Florida State Match-Up with career-best scores for a three-round tournament (204) and a three-round tournament vs. par (-12) and at the Pinetree Collegiate. Wallin tied the school record for a single round with a career-best score of 65 in the second round of the Pinetree Collegiate. She finished her junior season with a career-low stroke average of 70.72 - the second-lowest single season scoring average in school history.

Wallin will return for her senior season as one of the nation's top players and will compete for every national award in 2022.

Heath was a member of Florida State's NCAA Louisville Regional Championship winning team and the Seminoles' NCAA Championships Final team. She helped lead the Seminoles to a ninth place finish in the NCAA Championship Finals - the highest NCAA Championships finish in school history while earning three top-5 finishes - tied for second at the Florida State Match-Up, tied for third at the Pinetree Women's Collegiate and fifth place at the Moon Invitational in her first season as a Seminole. Heath was Florida State's leading golfer with a fifth place finish at the Moon Invitational. Heath averaged 72.58 strokes in 24 rounds during eight tournaments in the first season of her Florida State career.

"I'm really happy to be on the list with so many other great players," said Heath. "Being named an All-American was not something I expected as a freshman, but it makes me really excited for the next few years at Florida State."

Seminole Head Coach Amy Bond, who was a finalist for the WGCA National Coach of the Year Award in 2021, is very proud of all of her golfers.

"Having two Golfweek All -Americans is a great accomplishment for our program," said Head Coach Amy Bond. "Beatrice enjoyed a great year and to cap it off as a First-Team All-American is outstanding. For Charlotte to be named as an Honorable Mention All -American is a great honor and adds an exclamation point to a good freshman year. I am proud of their hard work and dedication. This is a wonderful way to end the golf awards part of our season."

Florida State has had at least one player earn All-American honors in six consecutive and seven of the last eight seasons under 2017 ACC Coach of the Year Amy Bond. Since 2014, six different Seminoles have earned 16 different All-American distinctions.

Williamson Leads Women's Golf At Moon Invitational.

February 14, 2021

by Chuck Walsh

MELBOURNE, Fla. - Florida State junior Amelia Williamson shot a career-low 66 and is in second place in the individual standings, and the Seminole Women's Golf team is tied for third place in the team standings after the first round of the Fourth Annual Moon Invitational at the Duran Golf Club. Williamson carded the best round of her Seminole career with six birdies and the first eagle of her Florida State career. She begins played in Monday's second round just three strokes behind Pauline Roussin-Bouchard of South Carolina who shot a blistering 9-under par score of 63.

Florida State is playing in its first event since March of 2020 when spring sports competition was cancelled by the NCAA because of the COVID pandemic.

The Seminoles are in third place in the team standings with two rounds and 36 holes remaining to be played in the three round event. South Carolina, the team-leader after the first round, holds a four-shot lead over the Seminoles while UCF is one stroke ahead of Florida State in second place. The Seminoles are the highest ranked of the five ACC teams in the 18-team field with Virginia (tied for third), Louisville (eighth), Miami (tied for 13th) and North Carolina (tied for 13th) all battling in the season-opening tournament.

"For the first round of the year, I am very excited that we shot under par as a team especially considering there are nerves among all players early in the season," said Head Coach Amy Bond. "The wind picked up in the middle of the round and I think each of our players handled it very well. We are looking to putting up more birdies (and eagles) tomorrow."

Florida State totaled 16 birdies and one eagle among the players in the lineup in the first round.

Williamson was on fire from the beginning of the round with three birdies on her first six holes. She would get to as many as six strokes under par during the round courtesy of the first eagle of her Seminole career on the par four hole No. 5. Williamson totaled a team leading six birdies during the round including her final birdie on her final hole of the day to finish her best collegiate round at six under par.

Williamson bettered by one stroke her third round score of 67 in the third round of the 2018 ACC Championship tournament. Her score of 66 marked the fifth time she has shot a score in the 60's as a Seminole.

Junior Beatrice Wallin, who will play in the Second Annual Augusta Women's Invitational, is in a tie for 32nd place with a first round score of 73. The All-American totaled two birdies and 15 of 18 holes at par or better in finishing at one over par.

The Seminoles are playing with three freshmen who all earned their positions in the Seminoles' opening weekend lineup. Bond was very happy with the strong starts of the trio as they combined to finish the first round at a total of four over par with scores of 72 by Charlotte Heath and 74 by Taylor Roberts and Alice Hodge.

"I'm very pleased with the way each of the three freshmen played in the first round," said Bond. "I have no doubt that they were all nervous on the first tee; however there were all very composed through throughout the round."

Williamson Continues To Lead Florida State Women's Golf Through Moon Invitational.

February 15, 2021

by Chuck Walsh

MELBOURNE, Fla. - Led by three players in the top 20 of the individual standings, the Florida State women's golf team is in fifth place in the team standings with one round remaining in the Moon Invitational at the Duran Golf Club. Seminole junior Amelia Williamson and freshman Charlotte Heath are both tied for seventh place while junior All-American Beatrice Wallin is in a tie for 20th place with 18 holes left.

Williamson continued to lead the Seminoles through the first two rounds and has a two-round total of 3 under par 141. Her score of 141 is the second-best 36-hole total of her Florida State career. Heath and Wallin led the Seminoles through the second round with identical 2-under par scores of 70. Heath, who is playing in the first tournament of her collegiate career, has a two-round total of 142. She has earned scores of par or better in each of her first two collegiate rounds. Wallin is at 1 under par with a two round total of 143.

South Carolina is in first place in the team standings with a two-round total of 576. The Lady Gamecocks hold the team lead over LSU, Virginia, USF and Florida State. Pauline Roussin-Bouchard of South Carolina shot a 4-under par score of 68 and increased her lead in the individual standings to six strokes over Latanna Stone of LSU. Roussin-Bouchard carded one eagle, three birdies and all 18 holes at par or better in Monday's second round.

Florida State finished with a 1 under par team total in the second round and is one of four teams in the tournament - Florida State, South Carolina, LSU and Virginia - which has finished both of the first two rounds of the event under par.

"The second round of the year and the second round of the year under par - I'm happy with that," said Head Coach Amy Bond. "We are all really looking forward to tomorrow and making a run. The girls are all playing well and I hope to see us playing even better tomorrow."

Heath played the best round of golf for the Seminoles in the second round as she finished with a 3-under par score of 69. She totaled four birdies and only one hole scored over par. The newcomer from Bailiff Bridge, England was never above par and was three strokes under par during her entire back nine. Included in her 141 total in her first two collegiate rounds are seven birdies and 32 holes played at par or better.

"Charlotte put together a really consistent round golf today," said Bond. "She hit a lot of greens, and when she missed, she chipped really well. She is making good decisions, making good swings and making the most of her opportunities."

Williamson continued to play well in her first tournament as a junior and enters Tuesday's final round looking to earn her first career top-10 finish. Her best career finish came at the 2019 ACC Championship when she finished in a tie for 20th place in leading the Seminoles to a school-record tying second place team finish.

Wallin played sub-par golf as she carded a 2-under par score of 70. Coupled with her score of 73 in Sunday's first round, she has a two-round total of 143. Wallin is just one stroke behind the top-12 in the individual standings and just two strokes out of seventh place.

Heath Leads Women's Golf To 4th Place Finish At Moon Invitational.

February 16, 2021

by Chuck Walsh

MELBOURNE, Fla. - Florida State freshman Charlotte Heath shot a four under par 68 in the final round and finished in fifth place in the individual standings, and the Seminole Women's Golf Team finished in fourth place in the team standings as play in the Moon Invitational at the Duran Golf Course came to a close. Heath carded scores of 72-69-68 and finished as Florida State's leader with a seven under par total of 209 for the three round tournament. Heath (fifth place) and teammate Beatrice Wallin (tied for sixth) allowed Florida State to finish as one of only three teams in the tournament with two players in the top 10 of the individual standings.

The Seminoles also finished with an eight under par team score of 856 and were one of only four teams in the event to finish below par in each of the three rounds. Florida State finished with the second best team score in the third round - a score of four under par 284.

South Carolina won the team championship with a six-stroke victory over LSU. The Lady Gamecocks led the event wire to wire and finished 24 strokes under par. Pauline Roussin-Bouchard won the individual championship with a 13 under par score of 203. She carded a personal best 63 in the taking the lead in the first round - a lead she never relinquished.

"I challenged our team to shoot the best round of the third rod and they came pretty close," said Head Coach Amy Bond. "We finished fourth in our first event in 11 months - and in a very good field - I am extremely happy about our finish. Our players shot scores of 66-67-68 and each player counted at least one of their scores.

"We certainly have some things to work but for our first event in nearly an year, I'm thrilled with how each of the girls played."

Heath played magnificent golf throughout the tournament and finished as one of only nine golfers in the 93-player field who carded scores of par or better in each of the three rounds. Playing in her first collegiate tournament, Heath earned scores of 72-69-68 for a 54-hole total of 209. Heath was never above par at any time during the event after starting par-par-par-birdie-birdie on her first five holes of the tournament and in her collegiate career.

"All around my game was pretty tidy," said Heath. "I went into the event to have fun and with no expectations. Me and Coach (Amy) Bond worked really well together on the course making every shot count. Finishing fifth is nice but nothing changes; I want to treat our tournament like every event we play in. It will be fun to play at home on our home course."

Heath carded 12 birdies and only five bogeys in the first three rounds of her Seminole career. She was as many as four strokes under par during the tournament and was as many as two strokes under par in each of the three rounds.

Junior Beatrice Wallin, who played in the 2020 U.S. Women's Open, closed the event well as she carded under par scores and was a total of five strokes under par in the final two rounds the event. She carded a five under par score of 67 in the third and final round - she came within two strokes of tying her career best score of 66. Wallin's tournament score of 210 and her tournament score vs. par of minus six both tied her career bests.

Freshman Taylor Roberts played her best golf of the tournament as she carded an even par score of 72 in the final round. She finished her first career tournament as a Seminole with three rounds scored at 75 or better.

Wallin Leads W. Golf Into First Place At Florida State Match-Up

February 26, 2021

by Chuck Walsh

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State junior Beatrice Wallin shot a career-low tying 66 and is in first place in the individual standings, and the No. 11 ranked Florida State Women's Golf Team is in first place in the team standings after the first round of the Eighth Annual Florida State Match-Up at the Seminole Legacy Golf Course. Wallin tied her personal career-best and set the course record for a collegiate player as the 14 teams played on one of the most delightful weather days in the history of the tournament.

Wallin was on fire from the start as she carded seven birdies and 17 holes scored at par or better. She holds the individual lead over Valentina Albertazzi of Kent State by four strokes. With four Seminoles in the top six of the individual standings, Florida State holds a two stroke lead over Kent State and is the highest ranking of the two ACC teams in the field.

Florida State and Kent State finished as the only two teams under par for the round. It marked the fourth consecutive round (each of its rounds this spring) that the Seminoles had finished with an under par team score.

"I am very happy with the way the team played today in the first round of the Match Up," said Head Coach Amy Bond. "They really did a great job of managing the course and their emotions as we were all excited to have excellent tournament conditions. Bea's 66 is the official women's tournament record score. I am excited to have two more days of nice weather and great golf."

Wallin, who finished in a tie for sixth place at the season-opening Moon Invitational two weeks ago, continued to play the stellar golf that her coaches and teammates have become accustomed to from the third-year collegian.

"Today's front nine was a lot of fun," said Wallin. "My approach shots were really good; I gave myself a lot of good opportunities to make some putts which I guess I did. I had so much fun out there today and I'm looking forward to playing tomorrow again."

In addition to Wallin's tournament leading individual score, three of Florida State's outstanding freshmen - Charlotte Heath, Alice Hodge and Taylor Roberts - are all in a tie for sixth in the individual standings with identical even par scores of 77.

Heath, who was the Seminoles' top finisher at the Moon Invitational, carded one eagle, one birdie and 14 holes scored a par or better as she finished at even par. She has now carded each of her first four rounds as a Seminole at par or better. Heath's eagle came on hole No. 4 and was the first eagle of her Florida State career.

Hodge finished with an even par score as she totaled three birdies in her first competitive round on the newly re-designed Seminole Legacy course.

Roberts scored her even par round of 72 courtesy of one birdie, one bogey and 16 holes scored a par or better.

Sophomore Elle Johnson, who is playing as an individual, carded the first eagle of her collegiate career, also on hole No. 4. She is in a tie for 40th in the individual standings.

Women's Golf Holds Commanding Lead at Florida State Match-Up.

February 27, 2021

by Katie Gould

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 11 ranked Florida State Women's Golf Team remains in first place in the team standings after the second round of the Florida State Match Up held Saturday at Seminole Legacy Club. FSU holds a commanding 20-shot lead over second place Kent State after totaling 12-under through the first two rounds.

Florida State junior Beatrice Wallin shot a 4 under par 72 in the second round of the Florida State Match-Up and has a strong hold on her first-place position in the individual standings. Overall, she is at 10-under for the tournament, seven shots ahead of second-place Nicole Abelar (-3) from Coastal Carolina.

Florida State is the only team in the tournament with a team score under par after two rounds of play. The Seminoles were the only team to score under par in each of the first two rounds this weekend, scoring six under par as a team in both days. This is the fifth consecutive round that the Seminoles have scored under par.

"I thought we played a great round of golf today, especially when the wind picked up," FSU head coach Amy Bond said. "They handled the conditions well and made the shots when they needed to. I am excited to head into the final round with the lead. Our goal for tomorrow is to play each hole and each shot as it comes."

Wallin and Charlotte Heath are two of only four players to score at or below par in the first and second rounds of the tournament. Wallin carded scores of 66-68 and Heath recorded scores of 72-70.

Wallin hit six under par in the first round and four under par in the second round. She totaled six birdies on the front nine of the first round and four birdies in the back nine of the second round.

Heath also played exceptionally well for the Seminoles, currently in third place individually. Heath recorded an eagle in the first round and carded five birdies in the second round to secure her position.

The Seminoles currently have three players tied for fourth place: junior Amelia Williamson and freshmen Taylor Roberts and Alice Hodge. All three players have carded a score of one over par after two rounds of play.

Williamson had three birdies in the second round, shooting a 1-under 71.

Roberts finished the second round with 13 holes scored at par and carded two birdies.

Hodge, who had one eagle and one birdie in the second round, is also currently tied for fourth place.

Women's Golf, Wallin Earn Championships At Florida State Match-Up.

February 28, 2021

by Chuck Walsh

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Junior Beatrice Wallin won the individual championship, and the No. 11 ranked Florida State Women's Golf Team won the team championship as play in the Eighth Annual Florida State Match-Up at the Seminole Legacy Golf Course came to a close. The individual win was the first of Wallin's Seminole career while the team championship was the first of the year and the 19th career tournament win for Seminole Head Coach Amy Bond.

Wallin, who finished with three under par scores for the first time in her collegiate career, finished with a 12 under par score of 204. Her 12 under par score and 204 total set personal best scores for her Florida State career. Incredibly, Wallin was never more than one stroke over par and was as many as seven strokes under par during the tournament.

Wallin's 12 under par and 204 total scores are both tournament records for the Florida State Match-Up. The previous record was 11 under par and 205 by Florida State's Morgane Metraux in 2017.

The Seminoles under Bond won the tournament for the third time in the history of the event to become its first three-time team champion. The win was the Seminoles first since winning the Evans Tiger Derby at Auburn University in the spring of 2019 and is the 11th tournament championship in her 11 seasons as Florida State's head coach. Bond has now coached her teams to 19 tournament victories in her career as a head coach.

"This win was a total team effort," said Bond. "I am extremely proud of the way we handled the course and the conditions. With this being the first collegiate tournament at Seminole Legacy this is a very special win. I will remember and cherish this one for a long time. I am a proud coach!"

Florida State's dominance in its signature home tournament was illustrated in the final individual standings as each of the five members of the Seminoles' starting lineup finished in the top 10 of the final standings.

"My first win and it feels awesome," said Wallin. "I'm very happy that I got to do it at our home event. Winning a collegiate event has been my goal for a while and I am so happy that I finally did it. I'm so happy that the rest of the team played well. I can't wait for our next tournament and playing with this awesome team."

The individual championship was Wallin's second of the season and second of her career after winning the Florida State Match-Up earlier this spring. The team championship was also the second of the spring season after the Seminoles won the Florida State Match-Up.

In finishing as the team champion, Florida State had three individuals (Wallin, 1st, Charlotte Heath, T3rd, and Taylor Roberts, T8th) finish in the top 10 in the individual standings with a fourth (Amelia Williamson, T13th) and a fifth (Alice Hodge, T15th) earning a top-15 individual finishes. It marked the second time this season the Seminoles had won a team championship by at least 25 strokes after winning the Florida State Match-Up by 37 strokes.

"This is the first tournament we've played where we have had the target on our back rather than being the underdog," said Head Coach Amy Bond. "I was pleased because they all handled the situation well. We began the final round with a five shot lead and I wanted to see how we played in that situation. I wanted to see a strong round and instead of losing the lead, we increased it. I was also happy because I saw a lot of enthusiasm from each of the girls this morning. That was very encouraging to our entire group.

"I excited as we begin the month of April," said Bond. "We still have lots of work to do be we are going to take a few minutes to celebrate this victory."

Wallin continued her super-hot play this spring. She carded 13 birdies in the three rounds of play including three in the final round. Wallin's score of 65 in the second round tied the school record for a single round score. Her four-under par score of 212 marked the fourth consecutive event she has finished under par. She is 32 strokes under par during the spring season.

"I played really solid golf and didn't make any big mistakes this week," said Wallin. "I felt like I gave myself good opportunities for birdies. It feels awesome that we were able to bring the trophy home; the team is really doing great, and we have a lot of fun together."

Wallin has earned four top six individual finishes this spring: tied for sixth at the Moon Invitational, first at the Florida State Match Up, tied for fourth at the Valspar Augusta Invitational and now first at the Pinetree Collegiate. She is the first Seminole to win two individual titles in the same season since Morgane Metraux won individual championships at the Florida State Match-Up and the Dickson Intercollegiate in the spring of 2017.

Heath finished in a tie for third place in the individual standings with scores of 74-73-70 for a three round total of 217. With her score of 70 in the final round, Heath has finished with scores of 70 or better in five or her first 12 rounds as a Seminole.

Her finish marked the second best of her freshman season as Seminole and is her second top-finish in the first four events of her career. GREENSBORO, N.C. - Junior Beatrice Wallin is in second place in the individual standings, and the No. 8 ranked Florida State Women's Golf Team is in third place in the team standings with one round remaining to be played in the 32nd Annual ACC Women's Golf Championship at the Sedgefield Country Club. Wallin is bidding to become the first Seminole to win the ACC individual championship while the Seminoles have put themselves in a solid position to advance to match play following Friday's third and final round of stroke play.

With one round left to be played (beginning at 9:00 on Friday morning), the Seminoles are looking to finish in one of the top four positions in the team standings. Following the conclusion of Friday's third round of stroke play, the top four teams will advance to match play with two semifinals matches played on Saturday and the championship final played on Sunday. It's the first year the ACC has played a stroke play-match play format to determine its champion in women's golf.

The Seminoles played solid golf throughout the day as they finished at par in the first round (288) and just one stroke over par in the second round (289).

The individual champion is crowned following Friday's third round of stroke play. In addition, the individual champion is automatically named to the 2021 All-ACC team. The Seminoles have three players currently in the top 10 of the individual standings - Wallin (2), freshman Charlotte Heath (T5) and junior Amelia Williamson (T10).

Wake Forest is the team leader with a one stroke lead over Duke. The Demon Deacons took the lead late in the second round and hold the slimmest of margins (one stroke) in leading the Blue Devils. Florida State is just 12 stroke behind Wake Forest and 10 behind Duke. The Seminoles are in third and Virginia Tech is in fourth place. The Seminoles are six strokes ahead of the Hokies and 13 strokes ahead of Virginia as the teams play for the four match play spots.

"The girls hung in there really well today," said Head Coach Amy Bond. "It's not easy to play 36 holes; I am very proud of their effort today. We have put ourselves in position to make a run at the lead after stroke play and that was certainly our goal entering the championship. I am really excited about the possibilities for this team during the remainder of the week."

Wallin carded scores of 67-71 and has a two-round total of 138. She is just one stroke behind Duke's Gina Kim with carded scores of 68-69 in the first two rounds. Wallin played strong golf all day with eight birdies and the sixth eagle of her career in the second round. She played with a clean card in the first round as she totaled five birdies and all 18 holes played at par or better.

Wallin's score of 67 in the first round was tied for the lowest score of the day. She was one of four golfers in the 60-player field who carded under par scores in both rounds on Thursday.

"Beatrice played good golf today," said Bond. "She hit 32 of 36 greens - and these greens are Augusta (National) fast. I'm excited to see how she finishes tomorrow - she playing with a great deal of confidence."

Heath carded scores of 72-70 and has a two-round total of 144 and is in a tie for fifth place in the individual standings. In finishing at even par in the second round, she carded five birdies and was never more than one stroke above par during the round. She totaled four birdies in the second round including one on her final hole of the afternoon to drop her back below par for the round. Williamson was three stokes below par with three birdies on her first seven holes of the round and totaled seven birdies in the first two rounds of play.

Williamson will play for the second top-10 individual finish of her career on Friday. She finished in a career-best tied for second place in the Florida State Match-Up in February of 2021.

Playing in her first ACC Championship, freshman Alice Hodge carded a 75 in the second round. She totaled three birdies over the second set of 18 holes and four total birdies through her first 36 holes of the championship.

Women's Golf Advances To Match Play At ACC Championships.

by Chuck Walsh

April 16, 2021

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Junior Beatrice Wallin finished in second place in the individual standings, and the No. 5 ranked Seminole Women's Golf Team finished third place in the team standings as the stroke play potion of the 32nd Annual ACC Championships at the Sedgefield Country Club ended. By virtue of its third place finish in the team standings, Florida State advanced to the championship round and will face Wake Forest in the first of two match play semifinals Saturday beginning at 9:00 a.m. Duke will face Virginia in the second semifinal with the winners meeting for the conference championship Sunday.

Duke outlasted Wake forest and Florida State to finish in first place in the team standings. The Blue Devils defeated the Demon Deacons by three strokes. Florida State maintained its position of third in the team standings while Virginia overtook Virginia Tech in the final round to grab the fourth and final spot in the championship round. Duke's Gina Kim finished with a 10 under par 206 to win her first career ACC Individual championship. She edged Florida State's Wallin by three strokes.

"I thrilled that our girls have moved on to match play at the ACC Championships," said Seminole Head Coach Amy Bond. "We went to this format to put pressure on the teams and have it mirror the national championship - and it certainly worked. We really felt the pressure today and did a decent job of handling it throughout the round. We are looking forward to tomorrow."

Wallin carded scores of 67-71-71 and finished with a 7 under par 209. She played outstanding golf in the final round with four birdies and a 3 under par score over her final 12 holes. Wallin totaled three birdies and all nine holes at par or better on her back nine including a birdie on her final hole of the day to finish at 209. She was one of four players in the field to card three rounds of under par golf in the tournament.

Wallin's score of 209 came within one stroke of tying the Seminoles' ACC Championship record of 208. All-American Caroline Westrup carded an 8 under par 208 in finishing in second place in the ACC Championship in 2008. Wallin is just the seventh Seminole in school history to finish as the runner-up at the ACC Championship (Mary Lee Cobick, 1992; Tiffany Faucette, 1995; Westrup, 2007 and 2008; Maria Salinas 2012 and 2014).

"I'm happy with my finish this week," said Wallin. "I hit my approach shots very well, so all three days were a lot of fun. I'm very excited to play match play and I hope we can bring the trophy home to Tallahassee."

Wallin has now finished in the top 10 in both of her first two career ACC Championship appearances - second in 2021 and tied for 10th in 2019.

Seminole freshman Charlotte Heath finished in a tie for eighth place in the individual standings with scores of 70-72-74 for a three round 216. She totaled three birdies, 14 holes scored at par or better and was 1 under par over her final four holes.

With Wallin finishing in second place and Heath in a tie for eighth place, the Seminoles had at least two players finish in the top-10 of the individual standings for the second consecutive tournament. The last time the tournament was held in 2019, Frida Kinhult finished in a tie for fifth, Puk Lung Thomsen finished in a tie for eight and Wallin finished in a tie for 10th in leading the Seminoles to a second place finish.

Freshman Alice Hodge played her best golf of the championship as she carded a 1 over par score of 73 in the final round. As she became increasingly comfortable on the Sedgefield course, her scores continued to decrease - from a 78 to a 75 to a final round 73. Hodge finished in a tie for 32nd place in the individual standings.

"I'm super excited to get the opportunity to move into match play," said Bond. "Anything can happen in match play; it should be a lot of fun."

Women's Golf Faces Duke For ACC Championship Sunday.

by Chuck Walsh

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Florida State will face Duke for the ACC women's golf championship on Sunday after defeating Wake Forest by a 4-1 score in the semifinals of match play at the ACC Championship Tournament at the Sedgefield Country Club. The Seminoles earned victories by Beatrice Wallin, Amelia Williamson, Alice Hodge and Taylor Roberts to defeat the Demon Deacons. Duke defeated Virginia by a 3-2 margin in the second semifinal match.

"I'm happy," said Head Coach Amy Bond following the match. "It was a stressful day. We played some good golf and beat a really good Wake Forest team. Earning four of five wins was big. At the beginning of the week, we wanted an opportunity to play in the finals. Now we have the chance to make history and win our first ACC Championship."

Wallin clinched the Seminoles' victory with a 2 up victory over Wake Forest's Emilia Migliaccio on the final hole of the match. The Seminole All-American won her first hole, extended her lead to four on hole No. 6 and never trailed. Migliaccio won three of four holes (10, 11 and 13) to begin the back nine and lower her deficit to just one. Wallin then countered with two consecutive wins on 14 and 15 to take a three hole lead. After surrendering holes 16 and 17 to Migliaccio, Wallin won the 18th hole to clinch her point and the match for the Seminoles.

"I was very happy with my game today," said Wallin. "The match was great, with great shots and birdies. We are all very excited about tomorrow's matches. I believe we are ready for it, and we will have lots of fun."

Williamson won her first hole and never trailed as she defeated Wake Forest's Siyun Liu by a 2&1 margin. She won four holes while losing only two in the 18 holes she played in gaining the first point of the match for the Seminoles.

"I am very happy with my win and the way I played," said Williamson. "I made three birdies in a row to finish the match which has helped my confidence. I am super excited to get going tomorrow and can't wait to make history."

Hodge won her first hole, was tied after three holes, won the fourth hole and never trailed after hole No. 4 in earning a 4-3 win over Mimi Rhodes of Wake Forest. Hodge won four consecutive holes (3, 4, 5, and 6) to take a commanding four-stroke lead at the turn after nine holes. She held a four stroke lead after winning the 16th hole giving her an insurmountable four hole lead with just three holes to play.

Roberts defeated Wake Forest's Rachel Kuehn in a match that lasted 24 holes before it moved to the Seminoles' side of the ledger. She birdied her final hole to cap off the Seminoles' team victory.

"I couldn't be more excited for tomorrow and the chance to give our coaches their first ACC championship," said Roberts. "Today's match was one of the most exciting matches I have ever played. It was awesome to have my teammates supporting me and Coach Bond was a huge help on the course. We are certainly looking forward to tomorrow. It's going to be a great day."

In gaining the 4-1 win over the Demon Deacons, Seminole freshman Charlotte Heath battled throughout her match before falling Wake's Lauren Walsh, 2 up. She carded birdies on holes 16 and 17 to draw herself within one hole before falling.

Women's Golf Falls To Duke In ACC Championship.

by Chuck Walsh

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Despite their best efforts and playing their best golf of the week, the No. 5 Florida State Women's Golf Team fell to No. 2 Duke, 5-0, in the match play finals of the ACC Championship at the Sedgefield Country Club. The Seminoles finished third in stroke play, advanced to the finals of match play and finished as the ACC runners-up for the fourth consecutive year.

"Our congratulations certainly go to Coach Brooks and each of his players," said Seminole Head Coach Amy Bond. "They played great golf today and are great champions of our league.

"This was a great week for our team and each of our players. We came here knowing that we are a good team, and though we didn't achieve our goal of winning the ACC Championship, we became better golfers and coaches. Each of our five players in this event learned a lot about themselves. As we move into regionals and beyond, we will take advantage of the lessons we learned and be an even better team. I'm not sure if I have ever been more proud as a coach after watching our girls show what an elite group of players they are."

The Seminoles were on the cusp of winning the championship as the final three matches drew to their conclusions. Junior Beatrice Wallin was within one hole in her match against Gina Kim with four holes remaining. Freshman Charlotte Heath was leading her match with two holes to play and freshman Alice Hodge rallied to tie her match with just two holes to play.

"We were right there," said Bond. "Because we were right there in this match, we'll take our experiences and be able to finish of those matches the next time we are in this position."

Among the highlights for the Seminoles were an eagle (score of 2 on the par 4 hole No. 9) and an albatross (a score of 2 in the par 5 hole No. 15) by Hodge who played in her first career ACC Championship.

The pairing that featured the ACC individual champion (Gina Kim of Duke) and the ACC runner-up (Florida State's Wallin) saw some of the best golf of the championship match. Wallin took an early lead with a win on hole No. 2, but Kim responded with three consecutive wins on holes 3-5. Wallin cut the deficit to one with a par on No. 14 before Kim birdied the par 5 15th hole to go back up by two. Kim then parred No. 16 to close out a 3&2 win and secure Duke's third title in the last four championships.

Women's Golf, Williamson In First Place At Louisville Regional Championship.

by Chuck Walsh

May 10, 2021

SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. - Junior Amelia Williamson is in a tie for first in the individual standings, and the No. 8 ranked Florida State Women's Golf Team is in first place in the team standings after the first round of the 2021 NCAA Louisville Regional Championship at the University of Louisville Golf Course. Junior All-American Beatrice Wallin is in a tie for third place in the individual standings. Williamson and Wallin shot scores of 68 and 69, respectively, to lead Florida State through the first of three rounds in the regional championship.

"The key to our success today was staying patient, and sticking to the game plan," said Head Coach Amy Bond. "Our game plan was hitting fairways and greens - those were the keys. We also talked about executing what they saw for their shot selections."

Florida State leads Michigan State and UCLA by five strokes as the Seminoles finished with a 286 team total. The Seminoles were the only squad in the 18-team field that finished at or better than par in the less than favorable cold and blustery conditions. The top six teams in the four regional championships advance to the NCAA Championship Finals May 21-26 at the Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. After the first 18 holes, the Seminoles are 10 strokes inside the current cut line.

Williamson, who led all golfers with seven birdies in the first round, is tied for first place in the individual standings with Emilie Paltrinieri of UCLA. She was stellar on her back nine as she carded four birdies, eight holes at par or better and was three under par on her final six holes of the round. Williamson totaled three birdies on her front nine and four on her back nine to earn a share of the lead.

Williamson played her best golf as she grew comfortable with the course. She totaled five birdies on her final 10 holes of the round, which allowed her to move from even on the scoreboard just before the turn and finish at 3 under for the day. Her score of 68 ranks as her fourth score in the 60's this season and is her best career regional championship single round score. She totaled scores of 75-72-73 in helping Florida State to a second place finish at the NCAA Auburn Regional Championship in 2019.

"My iron play and ball striking were solid today which is crucial around this course, especially hitting the fairway off the tee," said Williamson. "I made seven birdies and birdied every par 5 which definitely helped. I'm excited to enjoy another challenge tomorrow."

Wallin, the 2021 ACC Golfer of the Year, continued her stellar season as she carded a 3 under par score of 69. Her total included five birdies and her final 15 holes played at par or better. Wallin was 5 strokes under par on her final 15 holes including birdies on two of her final three holes of the afternoon.

Wallin has now carded eight scores in the 60's this spring including two in her last four rounds. She is averaging 69.50 strokes in her last four rounds in the ACC and NCAA Regional Championships. Wallin's score of 69 marked her best score in four career NCAA Regional Championship rounds after carding scores of 71-73-73 at Auburn in 2019.

Williamson and Wallin are the only two teammates in the top three of the individual standings. They finished as one of two pairs (Ana Palez and Mathilde Claisse of South Carolina) in the field of 96 golfers who both carded under par scores. Only 10 golfers finished the first round with scores under par.

"It was a bit windy and cold today, so it was a little challenging," said Wallin. "But after the first three holes I felt like I started hitting the ball better and started giving myself some good opportunities for birdies. I tried to make good decisions from the tee and left myself some good lies which helped a lot."

Florida State counted each of its scores towards it team total at 75 or better as freshman Alice Hodge carded a 74 and freshman Charlotte Heath finished with a 75.

The Seminoles are looking to continue a remarkable run of success in the NCAA Regional Championships as they play to earn the fifth consecutive trip to the NCAA Championship Finals under Bond. The Seminoles have finished in third place or better - second in 2016 at the Shoal Creek Regional, third at the 2017 NCAA Columbus Regional, second at the 2018 NCAA Tallahassee Regional, and second at the 2019 NCAA Auburn Regional - in each of their last four regional appearances.

"Overall, it was a good day of golf," said Bond. "I would say the wind was blowing 10-15 and the starting holes aren't all that easy. The back nine was played into the wind, but the sun was out which was a help."

Women's Golf Continues To Lead Team Standings At Louisville Regional.

by Chuck Walsh

May 11, 2021

SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. - Florida State juniors Beatrice Wallin and Amelia Williamson are in a tie for third in the individual standings, and the Seminole Women's Golf team is in first place in the team standings with one round remaining to be played in the NCAA Louisville Regional Championship at the University of Louisville Golf Course. The Seminoles enter the Wednesday's final round looking to maintain their first place position. If they keep their lead, they will win a regional championship for the first time in school history.

Both Wallin and Williamson, who have both carded par or better scores in the first two rounds, begin play in the final round only two strokes out of the lead. The leader heading into the final round is Christin Eisenbeiss of North Florida who has carded scores of 71-67 for a two-round total of 138. Mathilde Claisse of South Carolina is in second place with scores of 71-68 for a total of 139. Only two Seminoles have won individual regional championships - Maria Salinas in 2012 and Matilda Castren in 2016.

"We didn't have our best stuff early, but they did what they needed to do coming in," said Head Coach Amy Bond. "I was very pleased with how we finished. That's the play we need to have at the end of our rounds. We finished the final four holes of the day under par and that's a really good finish."

Florida State maintained its lead and holds a four shot lead over Arkansas and South Carolina with 18 holes remaining to be played. The top six teams in the regional championship are Florida State (577), Arkansas (581), South Carolina (581), Louisville (582), Texas (584), and Michigan State (585). The top six teams in the region after the third round of play advance to the NCAA Championship Finals May 21-26 at the Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.

"Anytime you have a lead it's good," said Bond. "But, with that being said, we still have a lot of work to do. Tomorrow is a very important day."

Wallin carded her second consecutive sub-par round of 71 and has a two-day total of 140. Her round of 71 was achieved with a stellar back nine as she totaled three birdies and was 3 under par after making the turn. Wallin carded four birdies on the day including three on her last four holes and birdies on her final two holes of the afternoon. Wallin went from 2 over par after 14 holes to 1 under par following a birdie on her last hole of the round.

"Tomorrow is an important day for us," said Wallin. "We have to stay confident and execute our game plan. "And of course have some fun out there."

Wallin has now carded under par scores in three of five career NCAA Regional championship rounds and averages 71.40 strokes in regional play. Wallin finished in a tie for 13th place in the individual standings at the 2019 NCAA Auburn Regional Championship.

Williamson carded an even par score of 72 and is in a tie for third place in the standings with a two-day total of 140. She has carded scores of 68 and 72 - the two best regional championship scores of her career. Williamson was never above even par during the round as three birdies helped her stay below par for much of the afternoon. She has totaled a tournament-leading 10 birdies.

Wallin and Williamson of Florida State are tied with Emma Spitz of UCLA in the individual standings with scores of 140.

Florida State's trio of freshmen continued to play well and are collectively a major reason for the Seminoles' success in this event. Alice Hodge and Taylor Roberts totaled scores of 74 while Charlotte Heath carded a 76. Hodge has carded back-to-back scores of 74.

"I'm pleased with how the girls are playing," said Bond. "The great thing about this team and these girls is that they don't think that they have played our best golf yet.

Women's Golf Wins NCAA Louisville Regional Championship.

by Chuck Walsh

May 12, 2021

SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. - The Florida State Women's Golf team won the NCAA Louisville Regional Championship and has advanced to the NCAA Championship Finals for the school-record fifth consecutive time as play in the event at the University of Louisville Golf Course came to a close. The Seminoles earned a three-stroke victory over Texas and UCLA to claim the first regional championship in school history. In winning the title, the Seminoles outdistanced South Carolina - the No. 1 overall seed in the 2021 NCAA Championship - by seven strokes.

Florida State junior Amelia Williamson finished in a tie for second place in the individual standings. She finished with a 3-under par score of 213 (68-72-73) in becoming just the third player in school history to finish in second place or higher in the individual standings of an NCAA Regional Championship. Williamson's 3 under par score of 213 ranks tied for the fourth-lowest NCAA Regional Championship score in Florida State history.

Florida State will play in the NCAA Championship Finals for the school-record fifth consecutive championship. The event will be played at the Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., May 21-26.

"Winning the first regional championship in school history is pretty special," said Head Coach Amy Bond. "In the beginning of the year, I really didn't know what we were going to have with two juniors and three freshmen. To be where we are in the season, and for them to win a regional for the first time is huge. The golf course was hard and weather was not good by any means. The girls handled a tough golf course and took control early."

Florida State led the event wire to wire after taking hold of first place in the team standings early in the first round. The Seminoles led by five strokes after the first round, four strokes after the second round and increased its lead to 10 strokes during the third round of the tournament. The dominant Seminoles carded an under par score in the first round.

"This (the final round of regionals) is the most stressful day of the year for everybody," said Bond. "I'm extremely proud of the way they played. They really stuck to their game plan and made the putts when they needed to."

The tournament championship marked the third of the season for the Florida State. Bond and the Seminoles have now won championships at the Florida State Match Up, the Pinetree Collegiate and the NCAA Louisville Regional Championship.

Williamson (tied for second) and teammate Beatrice Wallin (tied for seventh) finished in the top 10 of the final individual standings. Both Seminole juniors finished under par with a 3 under par score of 213 for Williamson and a 1 under par score of 215 for Wallin. It marked just the fourth time in school history a pair of Seminole teammates finished in the top 10 of an NCAA Regional Championship. Most recently, Morgane Metraux and Amanda Doherty finished tied for fourth in the individual standings in leading the Seminoles to a second place finish in the NCAA Tallahassee Regional in 2018.

Williamson carded a 1 over par score of 73 in the final round and finished with a three round total of 213. She played her best golf on the back nine where she was 2 under par with three birdies and eight of nine holes played at par or better. After making the turn at 3 over, Williamson gained momentum with birdies on the first two holes on her back nine.

Williamson tied her career best finish with her tied for second placing and earned the second top five finish of her career. She also finished in a tie for second place in the Florida State Match Up in February. Williamson tied her career best score vs. par (-3) which she earned at the Jim West Challenge during the fall of 2019.

Williamson enters the 2021 NCAA Championship Finials with a career-low 72.81 stroke average.

Wallin continued her brilliant play this spring as she finished 1 under with a 215 total and in a tie for seventh place in the individual standings. She totaled three birdies with two coming on her front nine.

Wallin is a total of eight strokes under par during the postseason with two top-10 individual finishes. She was 7 strokes under par in finishing in second place in the ACC Championship and 1 under par in finishing in a tie for seventh in the NCAA Louisville Regional Championship. Wallin has finished under par in six of seven collegiate events and is a total of 28 strokes under par this spring.

Freshman Charlotte Heath led the Seminoles' trio of first-year players with a final round score of 73. She totaled three birdies in finishing with her lowest single round score of the tournament. Alice Hodge carded a 74 and Taylor Roberts and 78 in the final round.

Williamson (13 birdies) and Wallin (12 birdies) finished 1-2 in the tournament in birdie putts made during the three round event. Hodge led all tournament participants with 45 of her 54 holes (.833 percent) played at par. As a team, Florida State totaled 180 holes scored at par - second only to Tennessee, which finished with 182 holes scored at par.

"Going to the National Championship Finals for the fifth consecutive year is extraordinary," said Bond. "It's a big deal because getting to the finals is difficult. To be one of the 24 teams left standing is unreal. It's pretty cool to be able to say that this is our fifth straight trip. I am wowed. That we have put together those teams and had the players come in and really commit to our philosophy is awesome."

The regional championship is the 14th win of Bond's career at Florida State and ties her for first in school history for team championships by a head coach.

Wallin Leads Women's Golf Through First Round Of NCAA Championship Finals.

by Chuck Walsh

May 21, 2021

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Seminole All-American Beatrice Wallin is in a tie for 19th place in the individual standings, and the Florida State Women's Golf Team is in 11th place in the team standings after the first round of the NCAA Division I Championships at the Grayhawk Golf Club. Wallin is only four strokes out of the individual lead and the Seminoles are just 10 strokes behind Texas with three rounds remaining to be played. The top 15 teams after three rounds of stroke play advance to the final round of stroke play before the field is cut to the final eight for match play that begins Tuesday. The national champion will be crowned on Wednesday after three rounds of match play.

Texas is the team leader after the first round with a 1 over par team total of 289. The Longhorns have two players inside the top five of the individual standings after 18 holes. Oregon is just one stroke behind Texas. Rachel Heck of Stanford, one of only four golfers in the field of 132 to card a sub-par score in the first round, is the individual leader with a 3 under par score of 69.

"The wind was brutal today, but I thought all five girls handled the course pretty well," said Head Coach Amy Bond. "We missed a few opportunities, but overall I thought we played good golf. The eagles (by Alice Hodge and Taylor Roberts) were fun, but we just didn't mark enough birdies today. The team is looking forward to tomorrow - we are going to look to turn the tables and make our move up the leaderboard."

Wallin, who was named to the WGCA Player of the Year Watch List earlier in the day, carded a 1 over par score of 73. Following a bogey on her second hole of the day, she played even par golf over the final 16 holes. Wallin scored a par on each of her final 10 holes of the round.

Wallin's score of 73 tied her career best score in two NCAA Tournament appearances. She carded a 73 in the second round of the 2019 NCAA Championship finals. She has now carded 21 of 22 rounds at 75 or below and is averaging a career-low 70.59 strokes in 22 rounds this spring. Wallin's career-low scoring average is currently the lowest for a season in school history.

The Seminoles also counted scores of 75 by junior Charlotte Heath, Hodge, and Amelia Williamson. Both Heath and Williamson carded two birdies each. Hodge carded one birdie and one eagle during her round. Heath and Hodge are making their NCAA Championship debuts this week at Grayhawk.

Hodge (on hole No. 4) and fellow freshman Roberts (on hole No. 7) both carded eagles during the first round. For Hodge it was the third eagle of her Florida State career; for Roberts it was the first of her career as a Seminole. There were a total of three eagles counted in the first round - two by Florida State players - and all three by players from the ACC. Miami's Nataliya Guseva carded an eagle during her first round of play.

Women's Golf In 4th Place At NCAA Championship Finals

by Chuck Walsh

May 22, 2021

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Junior All-American Beatrice Wallin is in a tie for 11th place in the individual standings, and Florida State is in fourth place in the team standings after the second round of the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship at the Grayhawk Golf Club. Wallin finished the second round well as she birdied her final two holes to finish with a 1 under par score of 71 and a two round total of 144. Florida State made the second biggest move up the leaderboard on the second round as they moved up seven positions in the team standings.

Florida State enters the third day of stroke play in a solid position to qualify for the fourth and final round of stroke play. After Sunday's third round, the top 15 teams will advance to the fourth round of stroke play on Monday. The top eight teams after stroke play will qualify for match play which begins on Tuesday. The national champion will be determined on Wednesday after three rounds of match play.

Stanford, which carded the best score of the second round (10 under par 278) is in first place in the team standings heading into the third round of play. The Cardinal leads Duke by four strokes and Texas by eight strokes. Stanford and Duke are the only teams under par after the first two rounds. Stanford freshman Rachel Heck holds the individual lead with a two-round total of 136. She has carded scores of 69-67 and holds a five stroke lead over Gina Kim of Duke and Lauren Hartlage of Louisville.

"All of the girls played well, really well," said Head Coach Amy Bond. "I'm super-proud of the way they hung in there all day long. And, we made some birdies today. The conditions were much better for us today than they were yesterday. We took advantage of what the golf course gave us, and with little to no wind, which was the opposite of yesterday."

Florida State carded 15 birdies in the second round as compared to seven in Friday's first round. The Seminoles totaled more birdies on their front nine on Saturday (eight) than they did during their entire round on Friday (seven).

Wallin led the Seminoles in the second round with five birdies after earning only one birdie in the first round in shooting a 2 over par score of 73. In the second round, she birdied five of her final 14 holes. She moved from 3 over par after five holes to two under par at the conclusion of the round. Wallin has now carded 17 of her 23 rounds this season at par or better.

"It was windy yesterday, so that made the first round more difficult," said Wallin. "Today we didn't have that much wind. I made more putts than yesterday and that was helpful."

Wallin's round of 71 ranks as the best NCAA Championships score of her career. In two appearances in the NCAA Finals during her career, Wallin's top three rounds have been carded as 71-73-73.

Florida State's best round of the day was turned in by freshman Alice Hodge who carded a 2 under par score of 70 - a score which tied her career best for a collegiate round. She totaled four birdies, was never above par and closed her round with her fourth birdie of the day on hole No. 18. Hodge played the back nine as well as she has played any side this season with three birdies and five holes scored at par to finish at 2 under par on the back nine and for the round.

"I was definitely more comfortable out there, especially with less wind in the morning," said Hodge. "I hit fairways and greens consistently, and a couple more putts fell today."

Hodge tied her career-low of 70, which she also carded in the first round of the Pinetree Collegiate in March. Her two-round 145 is the second-best 36-hole total of her career. Hodge boosted her score with four birdies after carding one eagle and one birdie on Friday.

Freshman Charlotte Heath was the third member of the Seminoles to finish under par as she carded a 1 under par score of 71 - a four-stroke improvement for her score of 75 in the first round. She was perfect with two birdies and nine holes scored at par or better on her front nine and was as many as three shots under par for the round. Heath was never above even par in carding her 12th round at par or better on the season.

Junior Amelia Williamson continued her solid postseason play as she carded a 73 in the second round. Her two-round 148 has her in a tie for 40th place in the individual standings. Freshman Taylor Roberts carded a second round total of 74 as she counted two birdies.

All five players in Florida State's lineup improved their scores in the second round as compared to the first round. Both Hodge (75-70) and Roberts (79-74) achieved five shot improvements, while Heath improved by four shots (75-71). Wallin (73-71) and Williamson (75-73) improved by two strokes. The Seminoles improved their team score by 13 strokes - tied with Stanford for the second-best team improvement of the day.

"We are going to keep doing what we are doing tomorrow," said Bond. "The more we see this golf course, I think we are going to get better and better. We are getting more used to the course and knowing where to hit the ball."

Through two rounds of play, the Seminoles are ranked second of the 24 competing teams with 118 birdies and fifth in par five hole scoring (4.83).

Women's Golf In 8th Place At NCAA Championships; Advance In Stroke Play.

by Chuck Walsh

May 23, 2021

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Freshman Alice Hodge is in a tie for 13th place in the individual standings, and the Florida State Women's Golf Team is in eighth place in the team standings after three rounds of the 2021 NCAA Championship Finals at the Grayhawk Golf Club. The Seminoles, as one of the top 15 teams in the standings after the first three rounds, have advanced to the fourth and final round of stroke play that begins at 1:11 ET on Monday. The top eight teams at the end of the fourth round of stroke play advance to the match play quarterfinals and semifinals on Tuesday. The national champion will be crowned on Wednesday.

Stanford, which shot a tournament-best 277 in the third round, is the team leader heading into the fourth of stroke play. The Cardinal holds a 20-stroke lead over Duke and a 22-stroke lead over Oklahoma State. Rachel Heck, a freshman at Stanford, is the individual leader with a 206 total after three rounds.

"We didn't get off to the best of starts," said Head Coach Amy Bond. "However, they showed a lot of grit and heart by finishing well. The round could have gotten away from us but this group didn't allow that to happen. The scratched and clawed to finish well and that is what I am the most proud of from today's round.

"We hung in there and have given ourselves a chance to be in the final eight to move on to match play. We need to go out tomorrow, play our game and focus on one shot at a time."

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Florida State finished in a tie for 9th place in the final standings of the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship Finals as stroke play in the event at the Grayhawk Golf Club came to a close. The Seminoles fell one stroke short of qualifying for the match play championship round. Florida State's ninth team place finish marks the best NCAA Championships finish in school history.

It marked the school-record fifth consecutive NCAA Championship Finals appearance, the third consecutive final round NCAA appearance and third consecutive top-12 national finish for Amy Bond's Seminoles.

With three freshmen and two juniors in their lineup throughout the season, Florida State was ranked No. 1 nationally for two weeks, won three tournament championships (including the first NCAA Regional Championship in school history), finished as the ACC runners-up, and placed two golfers on the All-ACC team as the Seminoles solidified themselves as one of the nation's top programs.

Florida State was three strokes under par with six birdies on its final four holes of the round. Each of the five Seminoles birdied hole No. 7 (the Seminoles started on hole No. 10) as they made their charge towards match play. Florida State carded 14 birdies during the round as they scored their second best round of the championship.

Florida State's Beatrice Wallin, the 2021 ACC Golfer of the Year, finished in a tie for ninth place in the individual standings with scores of 73-71-76 and 68 in the fourth and final round of the championship. Wallin finished the championship with a four-round total of 288.

As a finalist for every major award in women's collegiate golf, Wallin completed one of the greatest seasons in school history with her play in her second career appearance in the NCAA Championship Finals. She set the school stroke record for a single season with a 70.72 stroke average and will begin her senior season in September with the second-lowest stroke average (71.96) in school history.

In Monday's final round, Wallin was nearly perfect as she carded five birdies, 13 holes scored at par and only one bogey. She was four under par on her final nine holes with four birdies and five holes played at par.

"It certainly stings right now," said Bond. "I couldn't be any prouder of a group of girls for the way they played the back nine - and for how they played throughout the entire season. Every single girl gave everything they had today. We leave the National Championship disappointed, but with our heads held high. When we do look back, we know that we had a great year."
