Florida State Women's Basketball Coach Sue Semrau Announces Retirement.
March 21, 2022
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Sue Semrau, the longest-tenured head coach in the ACC and Florida State's all-time winningest coach, announced Monday that she is retiring as head women's basketball coach at Florida State University. The Associated Press, WBCA and ESPNW National Coach of the Year in 2015, Semrau guided the Seminoles to 16 NCAA Tournaments, Elite Eight appearances in 2010, 2015 and 2017, and was voted ACC Coach of the Year four times over her 24 seasons.
"It's been a joy and a privilege to be the head coach at Florida State University," Semrau said. "Thank you to the amazing players and the talented and diligent members of our staff, you have given me millions of moments to cherish, and friendships for a lifetime. The countless supportive and hard-working administrators, faculty and staff have enriched my life.
"Our precious fans embrace us, fight with us and represent this great university with passion. The excellent camaraderie of the coaches I worked with at FSU shaped me. I still remember on my interview Coach Bowden sitting with me and telling me that we could do this; and that he would help me. And he did. More than I could have imagined.
"I walk away eternally blessed by the life I lived while being the head coach of Florida State. I am Nole Blooded and am proud to be a Seminole forever."
Over her last 10 years of coaching alone, FSU averaged nearly 25 wins per season and 10 players were selected in the WNBA draft and another 12 played professionally overseas. Under Semrau, 20 players have been drafted, signed or have played for a WNBA team since the league began in 1997.
Semrau's record at FSU was 470-271 and she led the Noles to 14 20-win seasons, including a string of eight straight from 2012 to 2020. She was elected president of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association in 2013 and served until 2015.
"It is hard to put into a few words just what Sue Semrau has meant to our athletics program, our university and the women she has inspired over her career," said FSU Vice President and Director of Athletics Michael Alford. "I know I speak for the FSU athletic directors who had the opportunity to work with her over her long career in saying that you couldn't find a better representative of Seminole athletics or women's basketball than Sue.
"She instilled in her student-athletes the qualities that allowed them to be successful on the court, in the classroom and in life. She was also a tremendous mentor not only to the assistant coaches who served under her but to both head and assistant coaches in our other sports.
"Sue has represented Florida State
masterfully for the last 25 years and we will always be grateful."
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State University Vice President and Director of Athletics Michael Alford announced Tuesday that women's basketball Associate Head Coach Brooke Wyckoff has been named the Seminoles' head coach replacing the recently retired Sue Semrau.
Wyckoff, who is one of the finest players in Seminole history and a 2001 All-American, has been a member of the coaching staff for the past 11 seasons and served as the Noles' interim head coach during the 2020-21 season.
"Brooke Wyckoff is an excellent choice to lead the women's basketball program," said FSU President Richard McCullough. "She's a highly sought-after coach, and we're fortunate to keep her in the FSU family. Not only has she proven to be a capable leader with a track record of success, she is an amazing role model for our student-athletes."
In her year as interim coach, the West Chester, Ohio, native led the Seminoles to the 2021 NCAA Tournament and a fourth-place finish in the ACC despite being picked eighth in the conference preseason poll. Since the league expanded to 15 teams in 2014-15, Wyckoff's 2020-21 Seminoles were the first team to be picked as low as eighth and earn a Top 4 seed in the ACC Tournament.
"Brooke has the qualities that make a successful head coach and I am very excited about the future of our program," said Alford. "She has been a very important member of our staff over this historic period which established our basketball program as a perennial NCAA Tournament team and ACC title contender.
"She brings great energy and enthusiasm to the position. She is excellent at building relationships with her players. It is a great day for our women's basketball program."
Wyckoff is credited with skillfully navigating the Covid-impacted 2020-21 season that included 15 schedule changes, the loss of 65 percent of the team's scoring from the season prior as well as being the only team in the nation to play a schedule consisting of all Power 5 opponents. She earned ESPNW National Coach of the Week honors after leading the Noles to a win over No. 3 Louisville in the regular season.
"It is hard to put into words what a humbling honor it is to be the next head coach at Florida State," said Wyckoff. "When I stepped onto campus as a student-athlete 25 years ago, Coach Sue (Semrau) took me under her wing and showed me what it means to build something impactful and lasting here at Florida State.
"It is my great honor to be a part of the legacy of excellence at this university and with a program with a tradition built over the years. It is truly a full-circle moment for me and I am committed to serving our current and future players, alumni, community and university to the best of my ability every single day. Go Noles!"
As a senior, Wyckoff led the Seminoles to a 19-12 record and a berth in the 2001 NCAA Tournament, FSU's first appearance in 10 years. She averaged 14.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game from her power forward position and was one of the nation's top defenders.
Wyckoff was a standout player in the WNBA for nine seasons and brought a winning culture to Florida State where the Noles have reached three NCAA Sweet 16s and two Elite Eight since 2012.
Wyckoff is one of four FSU women's basketball players whose jersey is retired. She was also inducted into the Florida State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2011.
Her experience and knowledge in coaching post players has produced All-America careers for Cierra Bravard, Natasha Howard, Adut Bulgak and Shakayla Thomas. Being fluent in Spanish, Wyckoff also attracted a strong pipeline of Spaniards in Leticia Romero, Leonor Rodriguez and Maria Conde - all of who have been Olympians in either 2016 or 2020.
Wyckoff is known as a strong recruiter, developing an FSU connection in her home state of Ohio and also attracting key players elsewhere. She has contributed to several Top 15 recruiting classes in her time at FSU, most recently securing the 13th-ranked class in 2021 in current freshmen O'Mariah Gordon, Makayla Timpson and Mariana Valenzuela.
Wyckoff has one daughter, Avery, and is married to Jose Ramon Esmoris. She is a founding
member of Moms in Coaching, a group of mothers who coach basketball that meet every year at the NCAA Women's Final Four.

Timpson were each recognized heavily by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Tuesday, with both players earning several postseason awards following tremendous regular-season performances. Latson has
been named the ACC Rookie of the Year, selected to the All-ACC First Team and is a member of the ACC All-Freshman Team. Timpson won ACC Most Improved Player, earned a nod on the All-ACC Second Team
and was chosen to the ACC All-Defensive Team. Latson is the first Seminole to earn ACC Rookie of the Year honors. She is a front-runner for National Freshman of the Year as well, leading all
freshmen across the country with 21.3 points per game. The other FSU freshman to earn rookie of the year honors was Chantelle Dishman, who was the Metro Conference's Freshman of the Year in 1990.
The Miami, Fla., native broke the conference record with 10 ACC Rookie of the Week awards this season. She became the first ACC freshman to lead the conference in scoring during the regular season,
and led the ACC from start to finish. Latson owns an ACC-leading 18 20-point games as well as seven 30-point games this year. She held an incredible streak of 14 consecutive 20-point games, the
second-longest ever in NCAA Men's or Women's Basketball behind 18 straight from Trae Young at Oklahoma. Timpson is FSU's first recipient of the ACC Most Improved Player award, more than doubling
her scoring and rebounding production from a season ago. The Edison, Ga., native ranks 11th in the country with 67 blocked shots and is second in the league with 13 double-doubles - which is tied for
the second most in a season at FSU. Timpson is the eighth Seminole to earn ACC All-Defensive Team honors, leading the ACC for the majority of the season in blocked shots per game and currently
sitting in second place. The other talented names that Timpson joins on FSU's defensive list include current head coach Brooke Wyckoff, Alicia Gladden, Brittany Brown, Natasha Howard, Jacinta Monroe,
Christian Hunnicutt and Morgan Jones. Virginia Tech senior center Elizabeth Kitley was selected by the league's coaches and Blue Ribbon Panel as the ACC Player of the Year. Duke senior guard
Celeste Taylor is the league's defensive player of the year, while NC State sophomore guard Saniya Rivers was chosen as the sixth player of the year. 2022-23 All-ACC Women's Basketball

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - It hasn't been close. And The Athletic made it known. Florida State Women's Basketball freshman guard Ta'Niya Latson was selected as a near-unanimous pick by the national
publication as the NCAA Women's Basketball Freshman of the Year on Friday morning. Five of the six panelists chose the Miami, Fla., native as the unquestioned best freshman in the country. Latson's
eye-popping feats and statistics throughout the season include owning an FSU single-season record seven 30-point games this season, which is more than half of the ACC's 13 total as a conference. She
also established the ACC's single-season scoring record by a freshman, which is currently at 659 total points through her 31 games played. Per the publication: "The Athletic's list of freshmen of
the year candidates is filled with players who made instant imprints, filling roles that ascended their programs. But none did so more than Florida State's Ta'Niya Latson. She set records, took the
Seminoles to another level and makes us eager to see what's next for her in women's college basketball. For those reasons, Latson was a near-unanimous pick for our winner." Latson's awards this
season are endless: She is a finalist for both the John R. Wooden Award and the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award. She was named the ACC's Freshman of the Year as well as to the All-ACC First Team. She was a
three-time USBWA National Freshman of the Week, a record-setting 10-time ACC Rookie of the Week and was put on the Wade Watch List. She is the first freshman ever to lead the ACC in scoring at 21.3
points per game. March 15, 2023 by Stephen Stone TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State Women's Basketball freshman guard
Ta'Niya Latson has earned honorable mention All-America honors by both the Associated Press and the United States Basketball Writers Association, announced on Wednesday. The Miami, Fla., native

Women's Basketball's Ta'Niya Latson has won the 2022-23 Tamika Catchings Award as the U.S. Basketball Writers Association's National Freshman Player of the Year, announced on Tuesday by the USBWA.
The USBWA has presented a women's National Freshman Player of the Year Award since the 1991-92 season. Two seasons ago, the award was named in honor of Tennessee legend Tamika Catchings, the USBWA's
1997-98 national freshman of the year and a three-time All-American. DePaul's Aneesah Morrow won the award last season. Latson will receive the award at the USBWA College Basketball Awards Banquet
in St. Louis on April 12, which is hosted by the Missouri Athletic Club. The Miami, Fla., native recorded one of the best freshman seasons in collegiate basketball history, averaging 21.3 points, 4.5
rebounds, shooting 45.5 percent overall and 36.2 percent from 3-point range. Latson became the first freshman ever to lead the ACC in scoring and set the single-season scoring average record by a
freshman in the conference with 659 total points. Latson also shot 85.9 percent (171-of-199) from the free throw line, the second-most free throws made in a season at FSU and the most since Carla
Williams' record-setting 189 made free throws in the 1995-96 season. Latson and the Seminoles earned a No. 7 seed to their 10th consecutive NCAA Tournament, and finished 12-6 in the ACC this
season. Florida State's 79.3 points per game this season is ranked 10th nationally. The U.S. Basketball Writers Association was formed in 1956 at the urging of then-NCAA Executive Director Walter
Byers. With some 900 members worldwide, it is one of the most influential organizations in college basketball. It has selected a women's All-America team since the 1996-97 season. March 28, 2023 TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State Women's Basketball student-athlete Ta'Niya Latson has earned the honor of WBCA NCAA
Division I Freshman of the Year presented by adidas, announced by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association on Tuesday morning. The Freshman of the Year award honors the best NCAA Division I
women's basketball freshman or redshirt freshman. All conference freshman players of the year in NCAA Division I are considered for the award. If a conference does not select a freshman player of the
year, the conference office can nominate one player to be considered. "Energy, enthusiasm, effort and effectiveness - these are hallmark pillars that each coach hopes their first-year,
student-athletes will contribute to the team," said WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew. "The WBCA and adidas recognize the important contribution of first-year student-athletes. I am pleased to
present the WBCA NCAA Division I Freshman of the Year award to Ta'Niya Latson. "Ta'Niya most certainly contributed to Florida State's success and we recognize and applaud her immediate impact this
season." "Adidas has been providing innovative products for the world's best athletes for more than 65 years, from past legends to today's superstars as well as top collegiate basketball programs
around the country. The WBCA and adidas are pleased to recognize the important contribution of first-year student-athlete and to present the WBCA NCAA Division I Freshman of the Year award to Ta'Niya
Latson," said Jonathan Sims, assistant sports marketing manager, NCAA south, at adidas. The Miami, Fla., native was unquestionably the nation's top freshman in 2022-23, also earning the Tamika
Catchings Award given by the United States Basketball Writers Association, as well as The Athletic National Freshman of the Year. Latson averaged an ACC-leading 21.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists,
1.6 steals and 0.7 blocks per game this year. Latson is also a finalist for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Shooting Guard award. The 5-foot-8 freshman guard produced one of the finest first seasons in
collegiate basketball history, becoming the first freshman in ACC history to lead the league in scoring. She was the conference's greatest scoring threat, producing an ACC-leading 18 20-point
games. Latson proved to be a scoring threat who also put up impressive field-goal percentage numbers. With a very high usage rate, Latson shot 45.5 percent from the floor and 36.2 percent from
3-point range. She was rewarded as the ACC Rookie of the Year as well as getting the nod for All-ACC First Team honors. Latson set an FSU single-season record with seven 30-point games this
season.

Noles Pile Up 113 Points in Season-Opening Win.
by Stephen Stone
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State Women's Basketball got off to a soaring start in regular-season play on Monday, toppling Bethune-Cookman, 113-50, on Education Day at a loud and entertained Donald L. Tucker Center.
Five Seminoles recorded double-figure point totals in the victory, including freshman guard Ta'Niya Latson (28), sophomore forward Makayla Timpson (23), graduate guard Taylor O'Brien (19), redshirt senior forward Erin Howard (15) and senior guard Sara Bejedi (14).
Florida State's 113 points scored are its second-most in program history, only surpassed by their 114 scored vs. Stetson on Feb. 6, 1991. It is FSU's most points ever in a season opener.
The Seminoles jumped out to a 29-8 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back. FSU generated 22 fast-break points and out-scored the Wildcats (0-1) 38-10 in points off turnovers.
Timpson's 23 points marked a career high, far surpassing the 13 she scored in her freshman season vs. Wake Forest.

Latson Drops 34 in Win at Kent State.
KENT, Ohio - Freshman guard Ta'Niya Latson proved to be unstoppable again, piling up 34 points to lead Florida State Women's Basketball in a hard-fought road win at Kent State, 80-71, on Thursday night at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center in Kent, Ohio.
It was the most points by an FSU player since Morgan Jones had 36 in double overtime vs. Clemson on Jan. 21, 2021. Latson went 13-of-24 from the field and nailed four 3-point field goals in the comeback win for the Seminoles, who clawed back from an 11-point deficit.
Big plays were made down the stretch by Taylor O'Brien and Sara Bejedi. O'Brien's 3-point field goal gave FSU a late two possession lead at 70-64, and Bejedi helped ice the game away with free throws toward the end of the game while taking a commanding presence with the ball in her hands.
FSU out-scored Kent State 21-9 in a defensive-dominated fourth quarter, holding the Golden Flashes (0-1) scoreless through much of the frame. O'Brien finished with 11 points and Bejedi added 12 for the Seminoles (2-0).
Latson dropped 12 more points in the third quarter as FSU let Kent State get out to a run early but clawed back to make it a 62-59 deficit through three. She fouled out midway through the fourth quarter, but her teammates prevailed and put the game away.
FSU held a 39-38 lead at halftime, aided by a key 11-2 run that included two 3-point field goals by Bejedi and consistent stops on the defensive end. Latson had 17 of FSU's 39 points at the break as the Seminoles out-scored Kent State 22-1 in points off turnovers. Kent State responded right before the end of the half with an 8-0 run of its own, as Lindsey Thall led the Golden Flashes with 12 points at the break.
Some early foul trouble hurt the Seminoles in the first quarter, as they were whistled for seven fouls and trailed 18-17. Latson scored eight of FSU's 17 points early, getting to the basket at will. Mariana Valenzuela played big minutes off the bench with five points in the opening frame, including a 3-pointer from the right wing.

By Jared McFarlane, FSU Sports Information intern
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State Women's Basketball (3-0) remained undefeated after taking down the Georgia State Panthers (1-2), 75-70, on Sunday afternoon at the Donald L. Tucker Center.

The Seminoles used a key 28-14 advantage in the third quarter to help put the game away, although not without a fight from Georgia State. The Panthers cut their deficit to five points with 54 seconds, but the next possession a steal by Latson with 15 seconds left essentially ended the game at its 75-70 final score.
Florida State jumped out to a seven-point lead in the first quarter as Latson put up seven points and Howard knocked down two three-pointers. The next frame saw both teams going back and forth at each other, with six ties occurring and the lead changing hands twice. The Seminoles managed to head into the half with a 38-36 advantage.
The Noles came out with a vengeance to start the third quarter, going on a 22-5 run to give themselves a commanding 19-point lead. Georgia State wouldn't go away though, getting the Seminoles' lead down to seven after a 9-0 run two minutes into the fourth before Latson's eventual clutch steal.
The Seminoles did some strong work on the offensive glass, grabbing 19 to Georgia State's 13 despite being out-rebounded for the game. FSU was able to get 17 fast-break points and came up with 15 steals, out-scoring the Panthers 26-14 in points off turnovers.
Mikyla Tolivert led the way for Georgia State with 16 points and five assists.

Timpson got the overtime going for FSU with two consecutive baskets underneath, followed by an O'Mariah Gordon coast-to-coast layup to make it 74-70 FSU with 3:49 left in overtime. Latson then delivered on the next possession to give the Seminoles a 76-70 cushion with 3:21 remaining, which ended up being more than enough.
Timpson had a good look from 15 feet to possibly give the Seminoles a buzzer beating win, but the shot rimmed out to force overtime at 68-68.
The Noles shot 69 percent in a helter skelter first quarter as they got out to a 22-12 lead. Bejedi led FSU with eight points while Timpson added six points. FSU shot 69 percent from the floor in the opening quarter and withstood Houston's pressure right away, using a 12-2 run in the quarter to get itself going.

Noles Fall to Oklahoma State in Nail-Biter.
CANCUN, Mexico - Despite out-scoring Oklahoma State, 42-30, in the second half, Florida State Women's Basketball absorbed its first loss of the season in an entertaining game against the Cowgirls. The Seminoles (5-1) fell 79-77 in their first game of the Cancun Challenge at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya in Cancun, Mexico.
With 13.1 seconds left, Florida State rebounded a missed free throw from The Cowgirls (5-1) and called a timeout trailing by two. A well-drawn up play out of the timeout was nearly executed, but FSU could not convert on the layup attempt as time subsequently ran out following the miss.
Despite putting itself in a 49-35 hole at the half, FSU chipped away in the second half. Freshman guard Ta'Niya Latson scored 16 of her 20 points in the second half and helped spark the Seminoles' comeback.
Both teams played a back-and-forth fourth quarter where they were going shot for shot, as Oklahoma State always seemed to have a response to a big bucket made by FSU. Sophomore forward Makayla Timpson played big for the Seminoles and got good touches down the stretch of the game, recording 15 points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots.
FSU shot 10-of-19 in a critical fourth quarter where they trailed 59-52 at the start. With 2:20 left in the game Claire Chastain of Oklahoma State hit a shot in the paint to give OSU a 76-70 lead with 2:20 left. Latson then scored FSU's next five points with a couple free throws and a big 3-pointer from the corner to leave the Noles trailing 78-75 with 1:07 remaining.
A key stop by FSU was followed by Timpson getting one to go underneath to cut the deficit to 78-77 with 13.1 seconds left. The Noles then fouled and despite OSU hitting 1-of-2 from the line, the Seminoles couldn't finish.
Two other double-figure scorers stepped up for FSU in senior guard Sara Bejedi (13 points) and sophomore O'Mariah Gordon (11 points). FSU out-scored OSU off the bench, 17-11, and had 13 fast-break points against OSU's eight.
Oklahoma State's Naomie Alnatas led four double-figure scorers with 19 points.

Women's Hoops Gets Past Purdue, 76-75.
CANCUN, Mexico - A fourth quarter full of big plays helped guide a resilient Florida State Women's Basketball team to a 76-75 win over Purdue in game two of the Cancun Challenge on Friday afternoon at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya.
Trailing 59-54 to begin the fourth quarter, the Seminoles executed on both ends of the floor and stole momentum away from the Boilermakers (5-1), handing them their first loss of the season. Sophomore forward Makayla Timpson had her second double-double of the season with 14 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. Timpson had eight points and six boards in the final frame, with her offensive board and putback giving FSU a 60-59 lead with 7:45 left in the game - its first lead since the first quarter.
Purdue continued to respond, getting a 3-point field goal by Lasha Petree with 5:01 left to retake the lead at 66-64. FSU graduate guard Jazmine Massengill came up with another clutch 3-ball of her own, hitting one from the left wing to put FSU back on top 67-66 with 4:48 left.
Massengill would come through again after Purdue cut its deficit to 71-70. She came down the floor and hit a pull-up jumper in the paint to give the Seminoles some needed cushion at 73-70 with 1:10 left. A critical stop on the defensive end followed and FSU would put the game away with late free throws.
Ta'Niya Latson led the Seminoles with another 20-point performance, scoring 21 points on 10-of-17 shooting with three rebounds. She has six 20-point games in her first seven games this year.
Sophomore guard O'Mariah Gordon came up big off the bench, earning crunch-time minutes and finishing with 15 points, six rebounds and drawing six fouls. In a tightly contested game, FSU was +5 with Gordon on the floor.
The Noles climbed back from a 10-point deficit in the first quarter to pull out their sixth win of the season. FSU out-scored a physical Purdue team in the paint, 40-24, and had 24 points off the bench. Graduate forward Valencia Myers gave the Seminoles some strong minutes with five points and two rebounds.
FSU was able to escape with a win despite allowing 12 3-point field goals to the Boilermakers, who were led by 15 points each from Petree and Madison Layden. FSU adjusted well in the second to help limit Purdue's threat from beyond the arc.

Valenzuela Sparks Noles to 88-57 Win vs. Harvard.
CANCUN, Mexico - Mexican-born sophomore forward Mariana Valenzuela totaled a career-high 19 points off the bench to spark Florida State Women's Basketball to an 88-57 win over Harvard in its final game of the Cancun Challenge on Saturday at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya.
The Seminoles (7-1) finish the tournament 2-1 with wins over Purdue (76-75) and Harvard and a close loss to Oklahoma State (79-77).
Valenzuela played a huge role in Florida State's breakaway third quarter that ignited Saturday's win. The Mazatlan, Mexico native delivered 11 of her 19 points in the third as FSU out-scored the Crimson 27-13 to create the cushion it needed. The 14-0 run that helped to seal the game was highlighted by Valenzuela's back-to-back 3-point field goals that helped FSU run out to a 70-42 advantage.
Valenzuela finished 7-of-10 from the floor and 4-of-5 from 3-point range with plenty of friends and family watching in the stands.
Her 3-point field goal with 2:04 left in the third that gave FSU a 65-42 lead came off graduate guard Jazmine Massengill's 400th career assist. While Massengill's career totals do not count in the FSU record books, by comparison's sake the Seminoles have just four players whom have crossed the 400-career assist line.
Freshman guard Ta'Niya Latson continued to dominate, scoring 20 points on 6-of-11 shooting with four assists. Over her three games played at the Cancun Challenge, Latson averaged 20.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, shot 48.9 percent (23-of-47) from the floor and 44.4 percent (4-of-9) from 3-point range.
Sophomore forward Makayla Timpson picked up her second straight double-double with 15 points and a career-high tying 14 rebounds. Timpson averaged 14.7 points, 11.7 rebounds and 2.3 blocked shots at the Cancun Challenge.
Senior guard Sara Bejedi added 13 points and four assists with no turnovers. As a team the Seminoles generated 13 assists and turned the ball over just 11 times.
FSU shot 49.3 percent (33-of-67) from the floor and drained nine 3-point field goals while shooting 47.4 percent from deep. Harvard was held to just 29.7 percent shooting and was led by Harmoni Turner's 23 points.
The Seminoles made it a point of emphasis to create easy chances in the paint, outscoring Harvard 44-20 inside. The bench continued to shine as well, scoring 30 points to Harvard's 11.

Latson Delivers in 92-87 Win at Wisconsin.
MADISON, Wis. - Florida State Women's Basketball freshman guard Ta'Niya Latson came up big for the Seminoles down the stretch, recording 27 points as FSU hung on for a 92-87 win at Wisconsin on Thursday night at the Kohl Center.
The win marks the Seminoles' (8-1) 10th straight in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, currently the longest streak between schools from either conference. FSU improves to 13-2 in the challenge.
The Badgers (3-6) were down by 24 points late in the third quarter but made a furious comeback in the fourth. Wisconsin drilled 10 3's in a frantic final quarter and cut the FSU lead to one possession on several occasions. However, Latson managed to make big buckets when her team needed her most, scoring 10 in the final quarter to help put Wisconsin away.
She finished with 27 points, seven assists and five rebounds. Sophomore Makayla Timpson recorded her third straight double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Graduate forward Valencia Myers had a very impactful game with 15 points, seven rebounds and several key hustle plays during the most crucial points of the ballgame.
The Seminoles shot 51.6 percent from the field and out-rebounded Wisconsin 44-32. Julie Pospisilova totaled 32 points for the Badgers, with many coming in their hot-shooting fourth quarter.
Florida State raced out to a 49-31 halftime lead courtesy of 30 points scored in the second quarter. Latson and Jazmine Massengill each had five assists at the break as FSU shot 83.3 percent (10-of-12) in the second quarter. Balanced scoring highlighted the big period, with Erin Howard leading the way with nine points on three 3-point field goals. Wisconsin got its offense going as well with 21 points scored in the second.
Timpson was already halfway toward her double-double with six points and five rebounds as FSU got out to a 19-10 lead at the end of the first quarter. A late scoring lull from the Badgers helped the Seminoles as Wisconsin went 0-of-5 down the stretch while FSU made 3 of its last 4 shots. FSU did strong work on the glass in the opening quarter, out-rebounding Wisconsin 15-8.

Fast Start Moves Noles to 9-1.
By Alexander Fisher
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - A 23-5 first-quarter run sparked the Florida State Women's Basketball team to an 83-48 victory over Stetson on Sunday afternoon at the Donald L. Tucker Center.
The fast start for the Seminoles (9-1) was coupled with some balanced scoring to improve their record to 4-0 this season at home. Freshman guard Ta'Niya Latson recorded 24 points, meaning she has led or co-led FSU in scoring in every game this season.
Sophomore forward Makayla Timpson rattled off her fourth consecutive double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Senior guard Sara Bejedi helped take command with 12 points, while redshirt senior forward Erin Howard added 10 in the 35-point win.
Bejedi scored the first basket of the game for the Noles, and they never looked back. Florida State led from start to finish in its return to its home court after a near three-week hiatus.
The Seminoles opened the game with a 12-1 run to take a commanding early lead, after only allowing Stetson to score via a free throw. Stetson was held without a made field goal for the first 7:45 of the game, shooting 1-of-10 during that timeframe. Latson led the Noles with nine points in the quarter, making 3-of-4 attempts from the field. Florida State led 23-5 after the completion of the first quarter.
Florida State held a 37-21 lead over Stetson going into halftime. A 3 pointer by Khamya McNeal cut FSU's lead to 16, in a period in which Stetson outscored FSU 16-14. Latson was in double figures before the half, after a layup increased her point total to 11 points. Timpson contributed six points and seven rebounds in the first half.
After the conclusion of the third quarter, FSU led 57-32. Latson and Timpson led the Noles in scoring for the period, scoring eight and six points, respectively. The Noles shot 50 percent from the field, and 86 percent from the free throw line allowing them to extend their lead over the Hatters.
FSU out-scored Stetson in the paint overall, 38-20, and shot 46 percent from the floor against Stetson's 27.6 percent. FSU edged the Hatters (4-5) on the glass, 41-32, with sophomore O'Mariah Gordon getting six boards.

Noles Run Away with 108-51 Win Over Texas Southern.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State Women's Basketball freshman guard Ta'Niya Latson punctuated another high-octane offensive performance for the Seminoles by pouring in 34 points in a 108-51 win over Texas Southern on Sunday afternoon at the Donald L. Tucker Center.
"I'm really proud of our team today," FSU Head Coach Brooke Wyckoff said. "They really responded to the challenge of 'Let's play four quarters.' They did that and they did it in a big way, and we were led by Ta'Niya again with her 34 points. But I thought she did a great job on the defensive end as well, really locking in and creating havoc like she knows she can. That was our big goal defensively - to lock down for four quarters, and we did that."
Latson finished 12-of-19 from the floor and went 9-of-10 from the free throw line in what was her third 30-point game of the season. The Miami, Fla., native picked up her third 30-point performance, the most by a Seminole in a season since Natasha Howard had five 30-point games in the 2013-14 year. She tied her career high of 34 set against Kent State.
"It's been really fun," Latson said postgame. "I feel like I'm picking up where I left off at high school. Obviously, the game is more intense, but I'm just having fun out there and taking what the defense gives me. In practice, I learn from my mistakes. Like coach said, today was a defensive day, and I feel like I have picked up on that and that was a real focal point for me. Scoring-wise on the offensive end, that's how we play."
Fellow Florida Gatorade Player of the Year O'Mariah Gordon had a career performance, registering a career-best 23 points on 8-of-11 shooting while adding two assists in just under 22 minutes of action. Gordon got to the rim at will and also had her mid-range jumper working, providing an instant boost for an FSU offense that shot 52.1 percent from the floor.
Redshirt senior Erin Howard tied her season high with 15 points, while sophomore forward Makayla Timpson added 12 points and six rebounds. Timpson had recorded a double-double in each of her previous four games played.
In the second half, the Seminoles out-scored the Tigers (0-8) 55-16 after taking a 53-35 halftime lead. FSU converted 58 points in the paint and also added seven 3-point field goals. The Seminoles got to the free throw line in their aggressive offense, going 27-of-34 from the charity stripe.
FSU's second 100-point game of the season was highlighted by a smooth-shooting third quarter when it shot 68.4 percent (13-of-19) from the floor. All nine active Seminoles got into the scoring column in Sunday's win.
Taniya Lawson led Texas Southern with 18 points, while Andriana Avent had 16.

By Jay Seibel
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State Women's Basketball (11-1) was paced by six players in double figures on Thursday night in a 98-37 win over Presbyterian at the Donald L. Tucker Center.
Freshman Ta'Niya Latson led FSU in the scoring column with 25 points, and fellow freshman Snoop Turnage punctuated a dominant night with her first career double-double at 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Sophomore forward Makayla Timpson nearly had her sixth double-double of the year with 10 points and nine boards. Sophomore Mariana Valenzuela added 12 points and nine rebounds, while O'Mariah Gordon chipped in with 12 of her own.
Rounding out the double-figure scorers was Sara Bejedi with 10 points and five assists.
After a slow start, the Seminoles went on a monstrous 20-2 run after coming out of an early timeout. The Noles forced 11 turnovers through the first quarter and shot well from the free throw line, going 8-of-10. They commanded the paint and smothered Presbyterian, tallying six blocks and seven steals in the opening frame.
Latson finished with a career-best eight steals. It was the most by a Seminole since Ivey Slaughter had nine steals against Oregon State in the 2017 NCAA Sweet 16.
The second quarter had the Noles remain in firm control. After a slight scoring drought, a turnover and fast-break layup by Latson sparked an 8-2 run to lead into halftime with the Seminoles up 45-14.
The Seminoles came out of the half and continued to swarm Presbyterian, forcing 11 turnovers and converting 16 points off of turnovers. The Noles also made their presence felt in the paint; tallying five offensive rebounds and racking up 14 paint points. The quarter ended with FSU up 71-26.
The Noles were pressuring the Blue Hose throughout the final quarter, forcing ten turnovers and six steals. Latson took over, going a perfect 6-of-6 from the field and tallied three steals.
Florida State forced 34 turnovers by the Blue Hose (3-7), and out-rebounded Presbyterian 52-39. FSU's dominant shot-blocking unit had 10 more on the night.

Noles Hang Tough But Fall at No. 9 UConn.
UNCASVILLE, Conn. - Despite out-scoring No. 9 UConn 42-32 in the second half, Florida State Women's Basketball came up just short in an 85-77 loss to the Huskies at the Invesco QQQ Basketball Hall of Fame Women's Showcase at the Mohegan Sun Arena on Sunday.
The Seminoles (11-2) showed resilience in battling back from a 23-point deficit to take control of the rest of the game, although it wasn't enough at the end. Freshman guard Ta'Niya Latson led FSU with 24 points in just under 27 minutes, fouling out midway through the fourth quarter of a game that became tight.
Redshirt senior forward Erin Howard added 18 points and buried four 3-point field goals, highlighting a Seminole unit that refused to go away. Sophomore Mariana Valenzuela stepped up with 11 points off the bench while sophomore Makayla Timpson added 11 points but fouled out late in the game.
Midway through the fourth quarter, Howard hit a 3-pointer that cut FSU's deficit to 76-71 with 5:08 remaining. She then hit another one from downtown to leave FSU trailing by just four at 80-76 with 3:19 left in the game.
The Huskies (8-2) were able to execute down the stretch and get stops defensively, thwarting FSU's promising comeback. After allowing 53 first-half points, the Seminoles buckled down in the second half and surrendered just 32 to UConn's high-scoring squad.
Latson continued to get to the free throw line, proving why she has the most made free throws in the country. The Miami, Fla., native was a focal point of UConn and continued to attack, going 9-of-10 from the charity stripe. She now has 12 20-point performances in her first 13 games played.
FSU capitalized on points off turnovers all game, out-scoring UConn 21-11 in the category. The Seminoles generated 14 fast-break points while limiting the Huskies to eight. FSU's high-ranked shot-blocking department added seven more blocks on Sunday.
UConn's Aaliyah Edwards led all scorers with 26 points, while Lou Lopez Senechal added 23.
UConn jumped out to a 26-11 first-quarter lead, using a 10-0 start before Latson's block and fast-break basket gave FSU its first field goal of the game. A 3-pointer by Sara Bejedi cut FSU's early deficit to 19-9 with 1:31 left in the first, but UConn respond with a quick 7-0 run. Timpson ended the first on a positive note when she banked in a mid-range jumper right before the buzzer.
Latson led the Seminoles with 11 points at the break, hanging with UConn in the second quarter in what was a high-scoring 27-24 frame. Valenzuela had some effective minutes off the bench as well, carrying eight points at halftime, but the Seminoles trailed by 18 going into the locker room.
FSU had a tremendous third quarter, out-scoring UConn 27-18 which included a key 9-0 run. Latson got up to 22 points score in the third frame, although the Seminoles were hurt by eight fouls called against them that put them in foul trouble heading into the fourth.
FSU ended the game with 27 personal fouls, while UConn committed 19.

Timpson Powers Florida State to Rivalry Win Over Miami.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - A dominant second half by sophomore forward Makayla Timpson powered Florida State Women's Basketball to an ACC-opening 92-85 win over rival Miami on Wednesday afternoon in front of an enthusiastic crowd at the Tucker Center.
The Seminoles' (12-2, 1-0) 54-point outburst in the second half was aided by Timpson's 19 points, five rebounds and four blocked shots in the game's final 20 minutes. The Edison, Ga., native finished the game with a career-high 25 points, nine rebounds, four blocks while going 10-of-13 from the floor.
Timpson was unguardable all afternoon, using an array of post moves and showing off her finishing from 15 feet in. She scored in a variety of ways and continues to ascend as one of the ACC's best post players.
"Just being able to box out and be physical with my player...I have to in order to save the team and not let them get second-chance shots," Timpson said of her style of play. "We've been doing a good job of enforcing that in practice."
She fell just shy of her sixth double-double of the season. Her play was much needed against a physical Miami team that out-rebounded FSU 40-31 and was relentless until the very end, shooting 50 percent (10-of-20) in the fourth quarter when FSU was trying to put the game away.
Freshman guard Ta'Niya Latson scored 15 of her 21 points in the second half, plagued by early foul trouble that prevented her from setting foot on the court in the second quarter. Latson went 10-of-10 from the free throw line, becoming the ninth Seminole ever to make all of her free throws on a minimum of 10 attempts.
Senior guard Sara Bejedi gave the Seminoles the physicality and scoring they needed, scoring 15 points, going 6-of-6 from the free throw line, drawing six fouls, dishing five assists and defending at a very high level.
FSU finished the game 23-of-25 from the free throw line, an area where they've thrived all year.
"I'm very proud of that number," Wyckoff said of going 23-of-25 from the line. "The focus, especially KK, she's come so far and I'm so proud of her being able to shoot so well and with confidence. Sara going 6-for-6, Ta'Niya 10-for-10, Taylor 2-for-2, it's just really big time. I'm proud of them."
Florida State shot 51.7 percent from the floor while Miami went 42.5 percent for the game. Miami's Destiny Harden (20 points) and Lashae Dwyer (23 points) gave the Hurricanes strong scoring production.
A key point in the game came following Harden's 3-pointer that cut FSU's lead to 68-62 with 7:31 left in the game. The Seminoles used a 10-0 run to take their largest lead of the game at 78-62 with 4:43 left, capped by a layup from Valencia Myers. Bejedi sparked the run with four points. In that span, Miami committed two turnovers and missed five straight from the floor, enough for FSU to capitalize and turn into a double-digit lead.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Down by six at halftime, Florida State Women's Basketball used a strong second half where it out-scored No. 13 North Carolina, 43-30, to pull out a 78-71 victory on the road in front of a raucous Carmichael Arena crowd on Thursday night.
For the first time since the 2019-20 season, the Seminoles (13-2, 2-0) move to 2-0 in ACC play. It was FSU's highest-ranked win since defeating second-ranked Louisville, 68-59, on Feb. 21, 2021, under the guidance of then-Interim Head Coach Brooke Wyckoff.
Like last game vs. Miami, sophomore forward Makayla Timpson had another dominant second half and finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season. Timpson made several big buckets in a back-and-forth fourth quarter, often being the go-to player down the stretch. The Edison, Ga., native also had five blocked shots.
Freshman Ta'Niya Latson added 21 points along with six assists and eight rebounds. She paired with Timpson to form a dynamic duo late in the game, and was a big part in FSU out-scoring UNC 20-10 in a dominant third quarter.
FSU out-rebounded the Tar Heels (9-3, 0-1), 51-41, on the glass and had 20 offensive rebounds. FSU had 37 second-chance points and out-scored UNC off the bench, 21-4.
Graduate forward Valencia Myers was part of that inner toughness for the Seminoles, making big hustle plays and finishing with seven points and nine rebounds in 13 minutes.
UNC started hot in the second quarter and wound up taking a 41-35 halftime. FSU trailed 32-23 with 4:26 remaining before the half, but the Seminoles responded with a 10-2 run that included several hustle plays by Myers to get FSU extra possessions. Despite some key players battling two-foul situations, FSU hung in right before the half.
Both teams played a highly entertaining first quarter that ended at 22-22, spurred by a late run from the Tar Heels. Timpson proved to be a tough matchup 1-on-1 and had six first-quarter points along with four rebounds. FSU held a 14-8 advantage on the glass and out-scored UNC 12-2 in second-chance points to start. A layup by Mariana Valenzuela gave the Seminoles a 17-10 lead with 4:23 left, but the Tar Heels finished the quarter on a 12-5 run.
FSU came out a different team in the second half, holding UNC to just 4-of-18 from the field in the third quarter. While both teams often traded buckets in the fourth, the Seminoles got the stops they needed late in the game to seal up the program's 31st Top 15 win.

Noles Put on Offensive Clinic in 99-58 Win at Georgia Tech.
ATLANTA, Ga. - A season-high 13 made 3-point field goals was just one of the many bright spots for Florida State Women's Basketball as it cruised to a 99-58 win at Georgia Tech on Sunday afternoon at McCamish Pavilion in Atlanta, Ga.
The Seminoles (14-2, 3-0) move to 3-0 in ACC play for the first time since the 2008-09 season. Their 13 3-point field goals made were the third-most in program history and the most since making 14 at UIC on Nov. 23, 2019.
Freshman guard Ta'Niya Latson amassed her fourth 30-point game of the season, scoring 32 points with eight rebounds and four assists. Latson set the FSU single-game record for most free throws made without a miss, going a perfect 13-of-13 from the line. She broke the previous record held by Chantelle Dishman against Tulane, who went 12-of-12 on Jan. 28, 1991.
Latson's four 30-point games this season are the most by a Seminole since Natasha Howard had five 30-point games in the 2013-14 year.
Florida State's 99 points scored were its most against the Yellow Jackets (9-5, 0-3) in the 54 meetings between the two teams.
Snoop Turnage, a Westlake High School product in Atlanta along with Latson, had a strong homecoming with 11 points. Sophomore Makayla Timpson nearly had her seventh double-double of the season with 10 points and nine rebounds.
FSU locked down the Yellow Jackets defensively, holding them to 27.3 percent from the floor.
One of several sparks off the bench was graduate guard Taylor O'Brien, who had seven points, four assists and played solid defense all afternoon in nearly 19 minutes. All 10 of FSU's active players made at least one field goal.
The Seminoles had an extraordinary fourth-quarter outburst, scoring 37 points on 14-of-20 shooting. Overall, FSU shot 13-of-23 (56.5 percent) from 3-point range and 22-of-25 from the free throw line.
FSU out-rebounded Georgia Tech 13-6 in the second quarter and went into halftime with a 39-21 lead. Latson led FSU with 11 points at the half including 6-of-6 from the free throw line. The Seminoles out-scored Georgia Tech 19-16 in the quarter despite a 9-2 run by the Yellow Jackets. Timpson was an active presence in the second quarter, contributing four points and three rebounds. The Seminoles were rock-solid on defense in the opening quarter, taking a 20-5 lead over the Yellow Jackets. O'Brien had a strong start with five points, including a 3-point field goal to put FSU ahead 15-5 late in the frame. Georgia Tech was held to 13 percent shooting to start the game, while FSU made 7-of-8 from the line in an aggressive and attacking opening quarter.

Noles Run Out to 4-0 ACC Start in 93-62 Win Against Clemson.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Five double-figure scorers helped Florida State Women's Basketball continue its running ways once again, earning a 93-62 win over Clemson on Thursday night at the Donald L. Tucker Center.
"Just once again, really proud of our team," FSU Head Coach Brooke Wyckoff said. "Just the focus they came out with to start the game, and played all four quarters against a tough Clemson team that came in with a lot of confidence and a lot of weapons on both ends of the floor. I'm really proud of our group effort, and we had a lot of great individual performances as well. We have different people stepping up every game. I'm really excited to be 4-0 in the ACC."
The Seminoles (15-2, 4-0) are off to their first 4-0 start to ACC play since beginning 6-0 in the 2008-09 season. Freshman guard Ta'Niya Latson sizzled once again, dropping 31 points, going 15-of-15 from the free throw line, grabbing eight rebounds and adding five assists.
Latson re-set her own school record by going 15-of-15 from the line, the best single-game free throw performance in school history. She previously set the record going 13-for-13 vs. Georgia Tech last game.
Latson became the first Seminole since Natasha Howard to record five 30-point games in a season, with Howard reaching the feat in 2013-14. With one more 30-point game, Latson will already hold the single-season school record for most 30-point performances in a season, currently being tied with Howard (2013-14) and FSU all-time scoring leader Sue Galkantas (five in 1980-81).
"I feel like we had to come out attacking the basket and getting the right shots," Latson said. "Our mentality is to attack even if the defense is pressuring, and take care of the ball, play good defense and get stops."
Latson's 15-point third quarter helped to cool down a Clemson squad that went 5-of-10 from 3-point range in the third and got to near single digits in deficit.
Graduate guard Jazmine Massengill had her second double-figure scoring game of the season with 10 points and added nine assists in an efficient game. Massengill's 9/1 assist-to-turnover performance was a microcosm of FSU's efficient offensive day, where it totaled 20 assists as a team to just nine turnovers.
Graduate forward Valencia Myers came off the bench to record 12 points and seven rebounds in nearly 25 minutes. Redshirt senior Erin Howard added 10 points, four rebounds and two assists, while sophomore Mariana Valenzuela was another of FSU's five double-figure scorers with 11 points.
Clemson's pressure defense allowed FSU to get out in transition again, as the Seminoles generated 22 fast break points while Clemson had six. FSU also had 22 points off turnovers to Clemson's eight.
FSU held the Tigers to just 31.6 percent shooting from the floor, while the Seminoles shot 42.9 percent (30-of-70).
Clemson held strong in the third quarter and cut FSU's lead to 56-45, but Latson scored FSU's final 11 points of the quarter as the Seminoles out-scored the Tigers, 11-5, in a key stretch of play.

Seminoles Fall in Overtime at Boston College.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - A hard-fought, physical contest against Boston College did not go Florida State's way on Sunday, falling to the Eagles, 77-71, in overtime at Conte Forum.
The Seminoles (15-3, 4-1) got the stop they needed in regulation to set up a possible game-winning bucket tied at 66-66. FSU, however, was unable to convert its attempt on what was a good drive to the basket. The possession prior, senior guard Sara Bejedi tied the game on a 3-point field goal from the corner.
Bejedi recorded a career-best 26 points on Sunday, going 7-of-12 from the floor, 4-of-7 from beyond the arc and 8-of-10 from the free throw line. Bejedi kept FSU in the contest with a 12-point third quarter that helped erase a seven-point halftime deficit.
The Eagles (13-5, 3-2), who were coming off a big win on the road at No. 10 NC State, got plenty of scores and stops in overtime. Dontavia Waggoner led B.C. with 21 points and 14 rebounds. It was Boston College's third win against FSU in 21 tries.
Sophomore forward Makayla Timpson was forced to do much of her damage in the second half after early foul trouble, picking up her seventh double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman guard Ta'Niya Latson chipped in with 10 points and five assists.
Florida State went 14-of-16 from the free throw line, while Boston College missed several free throw opportunities but went 20-of-36. Waggoner's 15 free throw attempts were nearly as much as FSU's team total.
Florida State and Boston College had a defensive battle in the opening quarter, with FSU taking a 16-11 advantage after a long 3-pointer by Erin Howard beat the buzzer. Jazmine Massengill carried FSU in the first, scoring six of its 16 points. The Seminoles held B.C. to just 3-of-19 to begin the game.
Massengill would finish with eight points and nine rebounds before fouling out.
The Eagles gained momentum going into the half by finishing the second quarter on a 13-0 run and leading 34-27 at the half. It was FSU's second halftime deficit in ACC play, also trailing UNC 41-35 at the half. Bejedi aided the Seminoles with six points while shooting 2-of-2 from downtown in the first two quarters. FSU was held to 34 percent from the field going into halftime.
Timpson (eight) and Bejedi (12) combined to score 20 of FSU's 24 points in the third quarter before both teams went even in the final frame, setting up B.C's overtime win.

Seminoles Make Statement in Win Over No. 11 NC State.
By Jack Oliaro
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Ta'Niya Latson and Sara Bejedi led Florida State Women's Basketball to a resounding 91-72 victory over 11th ranked North Carolina State on Thursday at the Tucker Center, breaking a five-game losing streak to the Wolfpack and bouncing back from their first conference loss last weekend to remain in the upper echelon of the ACC.
"I can't say enough of how proud I am of this group," FSU Head Coach Brooke Wyckoff said. "The way they came out at the beginning of the game and competed, and they really made a statement on the defensive end. They knew going into this game they had to be great defensively and rebounding-wise, and they were. These two (Sara Bejedi and Ta'Niya Latson) were complete warriors on both ends of the floor and attacking like crazy. They carried our team in a lot of ways, and I'm super proud of them and our entire team."
Ta'Niya Latson continued her sensational first collegiate season with an efficient night of shooting, converting 13 of her 16 shots for 31 points. The guard earned her sixth 30+ point game of the season and is currently on pace to shatter the single-season scoring record set by Sue Galkantas in the 1981-82 season with 710 points. Latson would finish with around 740 if she continued her pace.
Latson's six 30-point games this season also established a new single-season record at FSU.
"After the last game I felt like I was out of whack, so I just tried to come out here in attack mode," Latson said. "It was a reset button for me and the team. We just had to focus on the details and we did that."
Florida State exceeded the challenge and did so convincingly to start, opening the game with a 14-5 run in just the first few minutes and shooting over 70 percent from the field forcing Coach Wes Moore's Wolfpack side into an early timeout. Seven of the available 10 Seminoles scored in the first quarter as Bejedi led the way with eight points.
Latson and Bejedi led the FSU offense with double-digit figures in the first half while North Carolina State found some offensive rhythm and chipped into the Seminoles' lead to make it a one-possession game before the Noles closed out the half with two momentum-shifting three-pointers. Mariana Valenzuela nailed her long-range effort before Bejedi's shot from the logo beat the buzzer to put the Noles up 43-33 at the half.
The Seminoles had another offensive avalanche to start the second half with 22 points in the opening five minutes of the quarter to push their lead to a game-high 27 points. Latson had a near perfect quarter as she didn't miss a shot on six attempts for 15 points that ultimately put the game out of reach.
The final quarter saw Makayla Timpson make a tough turnaround with six points and five rebounds to finish with her second-straight double-double. The Wolfpack outscored FSU in only the fourth quarter by a slim margin of 18-17 that ended in a 19-point loss.
One of the most versatile pieces of Wyckoff's team includes graduate guard Jazmine Massengill, who filled up multiple categories of the stat sheet w/ six points, eight rebounds, and six assists. She currently sits fifth in the ACC in assists per game.
Bejedi continued her excellent form with 21 points and shooting 60 percent from beyond the arc. This is her second straight 20+ point game as she scored a career-high 26 points in the loss to Boston College.
Timpson shined further with her second straight double-double as she contributed 14 points and 10 rebounds, her eighth time this season.

Bejedi's Big Game Not Enough vs. Louisville.
By Jack Oliaro
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Sara Bejedi's monster effort wasn't enough on Sunday afternoon as Florida State Women's Basketball fell to Louisville, 82-75, to mark their first home loss of the 2022-23 season.
Bejedi recorded her third consecutive 20-point game with 25 points (8-of-17) and nine fouls drawn, but the Cardinals (14-6, 5-2) used a 31-point fourth quarter full of tough shot-making to get past the Seminoles (16-4, 5-2).
Both defenses came to play as the game began with nine total missed shots before Bejedi hit a beauty of a 3-ball to open the scoring. She provided the game's opening five points, eight in the quarter. This was her second-straight game with double-digit scoring in the first half.
Louisville found some offensive rhythm toward the end of the first quarter that carried into the second, allowing them back into the game and even briefly taking the lead before Ta'Niya Latson laid in a tough shot under the basket, earning the foul and converting the three-point play. The Noles held on to take a 33-29 lead into the half.
Sunday's game marked the first time FSU lost when leading at halftime, now showing a 13-1 mark this season.
The start of the second half saw plenty of back-and-forth with Florida State holding onto a one-possession lead throughout most of the period but unable to create separation. O'Mariah Gordon checked into the game midway through the third quarter and her first touch was a textbook corner three that got the Tucker Center roaring into life. Maria Valenzuela hit a three of her own and the Noles had some of their energy back and a 57-51 lead heading into the final 10 minutes.
Louisville answered the Noles strong end to the third with a 7-0 run to take the lead and force an FSU timeout. Florida State caught their breath and a three-point lead with two jumpers by Latson and Makayla Timpson. From there, the Cardinals found success in the paint with numerous layups and pull-up shots to extend their lead to seven.
Bejedi again attempted to will the Noles to victory with a clutch three pointer and sunk her free throws to make it a one-point game. Former Seminole Morgan Jones and Hailey van Lith followed with timely shots to put the game out of reach in the final seconds. The two combined for 45 points, 18 rebounds, and nine assists.
Bejedi led the Seminoles in scoring with 25 points, shooting 8-for-17 from the field, and achieving three straight 20+ point games. She has averaged 24 points over her past three games.
Sophomore Makayla Timpson was just shy of achieving her third-straight double-double with 12 points and seven rebounds in the loss. She led the team in total rebounds and offensive rebounds with three along with converting over 50 percent from the floor.
Graduate Jazmine Massengill was once again key in the performance, the swiss army knife putting up four points, four rebounds, and three assists. Mariana Valenzuela shot over 60 percent from beyond the arc in the defeat, improving her team leading three-point percentage to 59 percent on 49 attempts. The forward shot sparingly, but made her shots count with six pivotal points.

Noles Get Comeback Win Over Virginia.
by Stephen Stone
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Florida State Women's Basketball earned its largest comeback win of the season on Thursday night at John Paul Jones Arena, defeating Virginia, 77-68, after trailing by 13 points near the end of the third quarter.
The Seminoles' (17-4, 6-2) comeback win eclipses the 11-point deficit they overcame when defeating Kent State on the road this season. Senior guard Sara Bejedi delivered 12 of her 15 points in a decisive fourth quarter where FSU out-scored the Cavaliers (14-5, 3-5), 27-8.
Near the end of the third quarter, FSU trailed 60-47 before O'Mariah Gordon hit a much needed 3-point field goal to cut the deficit to 60-50 heading into the fourth.
That's when Bejedi stepped up for the Noles, hitting a few dagger 3-point field goals and salting the game away with free throws. In the last 4:16, she hit one from downtown to put FSU ahead 66-62, hit a runner in the lane on the next possession, and iced the game away with a 3-point field goal from the top of the key to put FSU up 72-64 with 2:18 left.
Bejedi had a scoring stretch of 11 consecutive points for the Noles, who used a game-ending 27-6 run. Makayla Timpson secured her ninth double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Ta'Niya Latson had 15 points and became the fastest player in FSU history to reach 500 points in a season, doing it in 21 games played.
FSU out-rebounded Virginia 42-41.Camryn Taylor led the Hoos with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Florida State utilized a 12-2 run to its advantage in the first quarter, and despite Virginia hitting a buzzer-beating transition 3, the Noles held a 17-16 lead. Snoop Turnage gave FSU a spark off the bench, as the Seminoles scored 10 of their 17 points from the bench. Mariana Valenzuela stayed hot shooting to give FSU a 15-11 lead with 2:41 remaining. UVA's Yonta Vaughn had a late steal and long 3-pointer on the break to give the Hoos some life heading into the second, beating the buzzer.
Latson began heating up in the second quarter, scoring seven points in the period as FSU clung to a 38-37 halftime lead. Virginia was proficient from beyond the arc, going 6-of-12. Timpson also aided the Noles with eight points and four rebounds at the break.
Despite being out-scored 23-12 in the third, FSU turned on the jets in the final frame and responded to adversity. The Seminoles are 6-2 in ACC play for the first time since the 2018-19 season.

High-Powered Second Half Lifts Noles Past Pitt.
by Stephen Stone
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - A 30-point third quarter and a dominant second half lifted Florida State Women's Basketball to a 74-37 victory over Pitt on Sunday afternoon at the Donald L. Tucker Center.
"We really took care of business on the defensive end," FSU Head Coach Brooke Wyckoff said. "(It was) against a Pitt team that knows who they are defensively and are going to make things tough for us offensively. They certainly tried to do that in the first half. We didn't let that deter our defensive focus and our ability to get rebounds."
The Seminoles (18-4, 7-2) held the Panthers (7-12, 0-8) to just 15.8 percent shooting and only 15.4 percent from the outside. For the second consecutive game, sophomore forward Makayla Timpson recorded six blocked shots, raising her season total to 54 on the season to tie for ninth in program history.
"Today's game plan was to stay in the paint, and I just had to help the guards and be a rim protector for the team," Timpson added.
Freshman Ta'Niya Latson and senior Sara Bejedi co-led the Seminoles with 19 points apiece, as Latson added 10 in the second half and Bejedi heated up with 12 in the game's final 20 minutes. In each of the last two games, Bejedi and Latson have co-led FSU in scoring after each recorded 15 on Thursday in the comeback win over Virginia.
The Seminoles led 29-14 at halftime but really got going in the third quarter, out-scoring Pitt 30-9. Carrying over from late in the second quarter, FSU extended its 11-0 run into the third when Latson scored five quick points on her first two touches of the half.
FSU would finish the third on a 17-3 run, and then finished the Panthers in the fourth. The Seminoles out-rebounded Pitt, 55-49, and collected 12 blocked shots, tied for the second-most in a game in program history.
Sophomore Mariana Valenzuela stayed hot from the floor, scoring 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting and 3-of-6 from 3-point range. Valenzuela is now shooting 51.3 percent overall this season and 57.9 percent from downtown.
Graduate forward Valencia Myers added five points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots in quality minutes off the bench.
The Seminoles out-scored Pitt, 24-4, in fast-break points as well as 22-12 inside the paint.

No. 7 Notre Dame Pulls Away from 24th-Ranked Seminoles.
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Despite holding a one-point lead at the half, No. 24 Florida State Women's Basketball could not hang on as it fell to No. 7 Notre Dame, 70-47, on Thursday night at Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center.
The Seminoles (18-5, 7-3) were out-scored 27-10 in a decisive third quarter where the Fighting Irish (17-2, 8-1) ended the frame making eight of their last nine shots from the floor.
Sophomore forward Makayla Timpson led FSU with 13 points and 11 rebounds along with four blocked shots, marking her 10th double-double of the season. Over her last three games, Timpson now has 16 blocked shots and has 15 games this year with multiple blocked shots.
Notre Dame was led by Sonia Citron's 19 points and the Irish out-rebounded the Seminoles 55-37. FSU was out-scored 48-24 in the second half.
It was a defensive first half as FSU held a 23-22 lead heading into the locker room. Ta'Niya Latson led FSU with seven points at intermission, including a basket and foul at the 6:33 mark of the second quarter to give the Seminoles a 19-12 lead.
Notre Dame countered with a 10-0 run to knot the game at 22-22 late in the second quarter. FSU was able to hold the Irish to just 24 percent shooting in the first two quarters, including 0-for-7 from 3-point range.

Timpson's Big Game Powers No. 24 Noles Past No. 16 Duke.
by Stephen Stone
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Proving to be the biggest mismatch on the court, sophomore forward Makayla Timpson produced her 11th double-double of the season as she powered No. 24 Florida State Women's Basketball past 16th-ranked Duke, 70-57, on Sunday afternoon at the Donald L. Tucker Center.
"Obviously a huge win today for us against a very good Duke team," FSU Head Coach Brooke Wyckoff said. "I've said it all season, but the way this group responds to any kind of adversity or down moment, like the Notre Dame game, they always find a way to respond and do exactly what's needed to bounce back. I'm really proud of our defensive effort and what we were able to hold Duke to shooting-percentage wise and overall points."
The Blue Devils (18-3, 8-2) entered the matchup as the league's top defensive team allowing just 51.2 points per game. But Timpson found a way to get her numbers with 21 points and 10 rebounds while also altering several shots underneath defensively and aiding a Seminoles (19-5, 8-3) squad that allowed Duke to shoot just 26.4 percent (19-of-72) from the floor.
It was Timpson's fourth 20-point game of the season. Her 11 double-doubles tie for the seventh-most in a season in program history. Natasha Howard's record of 15 double-doubles in a season is within reach.
"I didn't like the Notre Dame game at all. I said 'We gotta win today,'" Timpson said. "The coaches were pretty great at coaching us and we played as a team, which allowed us to win today."
Between the end of the second quarter and the start of the third, FSU strung together a game-changing 15-0 run that gave it a 37-22 lead. Freshman guard Ta'Niya Latson, who recorded 15 points, hit a buzzer-beating runner to end the first half and put the Seminoles ahead 30-22.
The FSU lead ballooned to 20 points at 47-27 on a jumper by Sara Bejedi, who had 11 points and drew eight fouls. The third quarter performance included out-scoring Duke 21-12, sealing FSU's momentum in the game.
The Seminoles out-rebounded Duke, 48-46, and won the battles on the defensive boards, 34-27. With Timpson's monster game inside, FSU out-scored Duke in the paint 34-24. In the big third quarter, the Seminoles shot 64.3 percent (9-of-14).
The win gives FSU its first Triangle sweep of the regular season since the 2018-19 year, with all three being ranked wins. FSU defeated No. 13 UNC on the road (78-71), No. 11 NC State at home (91-72) and the 16th-ranked Blue Devils on Sunday.
FSU's three AP Top 25 wins this year are its most since having six in the 2019-20 season.
Duke guard Shayeann Day-Wilson led the Blue Devils with 14 points.
Prior to the game, Florida State Athletics celebrate former head coach Sue Semrau with a public reception that filled up the Tucker Center's Exhibition Hall, with several former colleagues saying many kind words about the 25-year FSU legend. Semrau was also honored with a raucous celebration at the end of the first quarter on the Tucker Center court.

No. 23 Seminoles Get 20th Win in Dominant Victory over Wake Forest.
by Jack Oliaro
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 23 Seminoles use a dominating second quarter to bury Wake Forest for their 20th win this season, earning a 72-44 win on Thursday night at the Donald L. Tucker Center.
"I'm very proud of this entire team effort," FSU Head Coach Brooke Wyckoff said. "Every person contributed today scoring-wise, rebounding-wise and most of all on the defensive end where a lot of that doesn't show up on the stat sheet. They defended collectively, finished playing with rebounds - we didn't give up an offensive rebound in the second half."
It marks FSU's first 20-win season since the 2019-20 season and its fastest to that mark since the 2014-15 season. The win also extends Florida State's win streak to seven straight wins over the Deacons at the Tucker Center.
Ta'Niya Latson had another terrific night scoring 19 points and shooting over 50 percent while also making her presence felt on the defensive side with three steals and two blocks. The Miami native is now just nine points from tying Wanda Burns for sixth in the FSU single season scoring record.
Forward Makayla Timpson had an efficient game with 16 points and 5 rebounds. She leads the team in rebounds, averaging nine boards a game and 225 on the season.
Mariana Valenzuela completed a double-digit rebounding night, the second in her collegiate career and first against a conference opponent. Her 10 rebounds were accompanied by five points and a team-leading four assists as she filled up the stat sheet. The sophomore continues to stay above 55 percent shooting in the past 19 games.
Senior Erin Howard sparked the Seminoles in the first half and her dual threat ability allowed her to finish with 9 points and 7 rebounds. The Wisconsin native now has scored from beyond the arc in 18 straight games and was just shy of her eighth game of the season in double-figures.
Florida State's offense shared the ball well to start as five Seminoles notched a basket in the opening frame. The defense did some attacking themselves with three blocks and a steal to force a couple turnovers. The bench did their part in the slower frame, contributing eight points to hold a slender 14-13 lead.
The Seminoles found their footing and began to accelerate past the Demon Deacons (13-10, 4-8) in the second frame. The defense suffocated the Wake Forest offense allowing just one field goal on 17 attempts and conceding only four points. Their offense complemented their defense as Erin Howard began the quarter with two tough 3-pointers and a layup to force an early Deacon timeout. The break didn't slow the offense down and was capped off when Latson hit a 3-point buzzer beater to give the Noles an 18-point lead at the half.
The offense kept humming as Latson stole the ball, pushed down the floor and hit a textbook layup on the fast-break attempt to make it a 20-point game, and then did the exact same thing again but with the and-one. Makayla Timpson did plenty of work inside the paint and hit a pretty jumper toward the end of the frame. The Noles went into the final 10 minutes with a 25 point lead.
The defenses tightened up in the final frame but FSU finished on a 6-0 run to build on their large lead and firmly finish off Wake Forest in a commanding victory. The win means the Noles have defeated all four of the ACC North Carolina teams (Duke, North Carolina, North Carolina St, Wake Forest), the first time they've accomplished that since 2019.

No. 19 Noles Fall to Hurricanes.
by Stephen Stone
MIAMI, Fla. - No. 19 Florida State Women's Basketball was unable to close out an important rivalry game on Thursday night as it fell at Miami, 86-82, behind a 27-point fourth quarter from the Hurricanes.
Taking a 65-59 lead into the fourth quarter, the Seminoles (20-6, 9-4) battled until the end, but Miami's Haley Cavinder took over down the stretch with a 33-point effort and a 10-for-10 performance from the charity stripe. Her desperation 3-point field goal with 2:10 remaining gave the Hurricanes (16-8, 9-4) the late lead at 75-73.
One of the best free throw shooting teams in the country, Florida State went just 10-of-20 from the line on Thursday night. Miami out-rebounded the Seminoles 47-28.
Sophomore forward Makayla Timpson nearly reached her 12th double-double of the season with 19 points and nine rebounds on 9-of-12 shooting. Senior Sara Bejedi added 13 points with six rebounds while drawing seven fouls. Ta'Niya Latson and Jazmine Massengill added 12 points apiece.
The Seminoles were able to cross past the 70-point mark for the 25th time in 26 games this season. Timpson helped the Seminoles own the paint, 32-24, while O'Mariah Gordon's nine points off the bench allowed FSU to out-score the Hurricanes 20-10 in bench points.
FSU and Miami split their season series at 1-1 after the Seminoles defeated Miami, 92-85, in the conference opener on Dec. 21.
Bejedi bolstered the Seminoles in the second quarter, scoring eight points as FSU shot 52.9 percent in the period to take a 44-33 halftime lead. Miami turned around and scored 43 second-half points as the Seminoles were unable to get consistent stops to try and close out the game.

Tough Start Hurts No. 19 Noles in Loss at No. 11 Virginia Tech.
BLACKSBURG, Va. - The No. 19 Florida State Women's Basketball team endured back-to-back losses for the first time this season as it fell at 11th-ranked Virginia Tech on Sunday, 84-70, in Cassell Coliseum.
The Seminoles (20-7, 9-5) allowed a season-high 14 3-point field goals to Virginia Tech and were hurt by a 34-11 first-quarter deficit. For the next three quarters, FSU out-scored the Hokies (20-4, 10-4), 59-50, including 45 second-half points.
Sophomore forward Makayla Timpson recorded her 23rd double-figure scoring game of the season with 12 points while adding seven rebounds and a blocked shot. Freshman Ta'Niya Latson added 15 points and became the 10th Seminole to surpass 200 made field goals in a season.
FSU was able to out-score Virginia Tech in the paint, 40-24, as well as contain reigning ACC Player of the Year Elizabeth Kitley with 11 points and four rebounds. Guard Georgia Amoore was Virginia Tech's primary scorer on Sunday, scoring 25 points include six 3-point field goals.
Senior guard Sara Bejedi chipped in with 10 points, while graduate guard Taylor O'Brien was strong off the bench with nine points and five rebounds. FSU out-rebounded Virginia Tech, 32-28, and out-scored the Hokies off the bench, 20-10.
Virginia Tech was hot from beyond the arc in the first half, taking a 47-25 halftime lead after going 11-of-22 from the outside. Georgia Amoore had four 3-point field goals for the Hokies, who opened the game with a 34-11 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Seminoles settled down in the second and out-scored Virginia Tech 14-13 in the frame, capped by a buzzer-beating field goal from Taylor O'Brien near the half court line. Erin Howard led FSU with seven points at halftime, hitting a 3-pointer for the 20th consecutive game.
With 3:11 left in the first quarter, Valencia Myers checked into the game for FSU to become the school's all-time leader in career games played with 139.

No. 24 Noles Get Tough Win Over Syracuse.
by Jack Oliaro
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State fought through a tough Syracuse team to claim back-to-back victories against the Orange for the first time since 2015, winning 78-65 on Thursday night at the Tucker Center. The win also elevates them to 10 conference wins for the eighth consecutive season.
Erin Howard got the night started with a three from distance on the first possession, that along with some signature Ta'Niya Latson drives to the basket forced Syracuse coach Felisha Legette-Jack into an early timeout. Syracuse regained some ground and briefly held the lead before Makayla Timpson leaped over the Orange players in the paint for the offensive board and converted the tough layup. The first ten went by with a 24-17 Noles lead.
FSU held the Syracuse offense in check to start the second quarter, limiting them to a stretch of eight straight missed baskets from the field and scoreless for just under four minutes. Mariana Valenzuela was perfect in the frame with two mid-range jumpers and a seemingly regularly-scheduled knockdown 3-pointer. The Seminoles weren't able to increase their seven-point lead and went into the break up 40-33.
The two sides continued to match stride for stride as Florida State kept shutting down Orange momentum with consistent play inside the arc in the form of tough layups they made look easy and very strong shooting inside. Senior Valencia Myers brought the Tucker Center to life with a crafty two-pointer in the paint but Syracuse cut into the lead with three successful trips to the charity stripe to make it a three point contest.
The three season-leading scorers Latson, Timpson, and Sara Bejedi, each began the quarter with a bucket that pushed the lead to 7. The three dug in deep to provide the points in the crucial moments, providing a combined 14 points which were the only Seminole points in the frame until Howard launched a corner three while being fouled, the ball sunk through the net and the crowd roared into life, putting the game out of reach and along with the bad taste of the two straight road losses.
Timpson continued to showcase her dominance in the paint with another double-double, her 12th of the season at 17 points and 14 rebounds. This was also her sixth straight game with double-digits as her dual-threat ability of scoring and rebounding proves to be one of the best in the conference. Along with three second half blocks, she passed Head Coach Brooke Wyckoff's 64 blocks that she earned in her sophomore season.
Howard provided some much-needed baskets that brought life back to the Noles. Three long range daggers and a layup gave her 11 points coupled with an incredible 4 offensive rebounds for a productive night on the court. With her opening three pointer she extended a remarkable record from beyond the arc with 21 straight games with a field goal from outside.
Latson was just shy of yet another 20-point night at 19 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists. She now sits just six points away from fourth place on the FSU Single Season Scoring with 609 held by Roneeka Hodges. Latson became the fourth Seminole to join the 600-point club in a season, and the first since Natasha Howard in 2013-14.
Valencia Myers was honored before the game for having the most games played in FSU Women's Basketball history, breaking the feat last weekend in Blacksburg and making it 140 as she checked in tonight. She provided 4 points, 3 rebounds, and a monster block off the bench. Her block gave the 2022-23 Seminoles the most blocks in a season in program history with 167.

No. 24 Women's Hoops Tops Georgia Tech on Senior Day.
by Stephen Stone
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The 24th-ranked Florida State Women's Basketball team finished its regular-season home schedule in style, honoring its four-member senior class with an 80-66 win over Georgia Tech on Sunday afternoon at the Tucker Center.
The Seminoles (22-7, 11-5) honored seniors Valencia Myers, Erin Howard, Taylor O'Brien and Jazmine Massengill prior to Sunday's game. Freshman Ta'Niya Latson then did a takeover of her own when she dropped 31 points on 10-of-16 shooting, her school-record seventh 30-point game of the season and her second this season vs. the Yellow Jackets (13-14, 4-12).
"Obviously it was an emotional game," FSU Head Coach Brooke Wyckoff said. "Last home game (of the regular season), senior day, honoring some amazing seniors who have done so much for us. Playing a rival like Georgia Tech who always provides a challenge. We're really happy to come out of here with a win. I thought we did a great job of finishing the game and getting stops when we really needed to."
After closing out their previous game with an 11-0 run, the Seminoles did more damage late in the game with a 7-0 finalized run. With Georgia Tech clinging to a three-possession game trailing 73-66, Latson hit the dagger with a 3-point field goal from the left wing to give FSU a 10-point cushion. FSU was able to get four consecutive stops defensively to finish the game.
Latson shot 10-of-16 from the floor and 9-of-10 from the free throw line. She ranks second in FSU history in single-season free throws made with 162, and her 640 total points scored this season are the third-most by a Seminole.
After allowing Georgia Tech to shoot 11-of-15 in the first quarter, FSU held the Yellow Jackets to just 14-of-44 (31.8 percent) from the floor the rest of the way. The Seminoles countered with a hot-shooting second quarter, shooting 57.1 percent in the frame and out-scoring Georgia Tech 24-13.
Senior Sara Bejedi, who has one more year of eligibility remaining, aided the Seminoles on both ends of the floor with 14 points and four rebounds. Her commitment to the defensive end contributed a strong performance against Georgia Tech sharp-shooter Cameron Swartz.
Sophomore O'Mariah Gordon was another major contributor off the bench, scoring 10 points with three assists and no turnovers in 16:20. She helped FSU's bench out-score Georgia Tech, 21-11. FSU also capitalized in points off turnovers, out-pacing Georgia Tech 18-2.
Florida State enters the final week of the regular season in a tie for the No. 4 spot in the ACC standings. Louisville currently holds the tie-breaker with identical 11-5 marks in the conference based on head-to-head. The Seminoles gained a spot in the standings following Miami's loss to Syracuse on Sunday.

No. 23 Noles Hang On At Wake Forest.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - No. 23 Florida State Women's Basketball got a late defensive stand to hold on to a 61-60 win at Wake Forest on Thursday night at LJVM Coliseum.
Graduate forward Valencia Myers made huge plays for the Seminoles (23-7, 12-5), scoring a season-high 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting with six rebounds, two blocked shots and seven fouls drawn. Myers scored 10 of her points in the second half, including six in the fourth quarter.
Following an offensive possession that FSU could not convert, Wake Forest got the rebound trailing 61-60 and called timeout with 2.6 seconds left to advance the ball. On the in-bounds play, FSU played the possession perfectly on defense, forcing a Wake Forest heave that would not have counted.
Freshman Ta'Niya Latson became the single-season record holder in the ACC for freshman scoring, surpassing Diamond Deshields. The Miami, Fla., native finished with 15 points and now has 655 total points this season.
The Seminoles took advantage of their aggressive attack by getting to the free throw line 31 times compared to Wake Forest's 17. Senior guard Sara Bejedi had another tremendous defensive performance, helping shut down Wake Forest's offense as it shot just 35 percent for the game.
With Louisville's win over Miami, Florida State remains tied for fourth in the ACC heading into the final game on Sunday.
Florida State hung to a 15-14 first-quarter lead, holding Wake Forest scoreless for the final 2:08 to take a one-point lead. Timpson put the Noles ahead again on a turn-around jumper in the paint, leading FSU with five points and three rebounds in the opening period. FSU out-scored Wake 9-4 in second-chance points.
It was another one-point game at the half, as both teams piled up players in foul trouble. FSU shot 14-of-19 from the free throw line heading into the break, getting nearly half its points from the charity stripe. Latson led FSU with nine points at the break.
Florida State out-scored Wake Forest 16-12 in a physical third quarter, with Latson contributing six points while Myers continued to make plays on both ends of the floor. A Latson to Myers connection gave FSU a 47-42 lead as both teams entered the fourth quarter.

No. 23 Seminoles Fall at Clemson in Regular-Season Finale.
CLEMSON, S.C. - No. 23 Florida State Women's Basketball suffered a 74-61 loss at Clemson to end its regular season on Sunday afternoon at Littlejohn Coliseum.
Despite Makayla Timpson's 13th double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds, the Seminoles (23-8, 12-6) were unable to clinch the No. 4 seed in the upcoming Ally ACC Tournament, which was made possible earlier in the day after Notre Dame defeated Louisville on the road. The Seminoles will play as the No. 5 seed in the ACC Second Round.
Despite being picked ninth in the ACC preseason predicted order of finish, the Seminoles tied at fourth in the ACC regular season, which included 12 conference wins.
Clemson's Amari Robinson had a big second half en route to 20 points to lead the Tigers (16-14, 7-11). FSU defeated Clemson earlier in the season at home, 93-62, on Jan. 5.
Senior guard Sara Bejedi added 12 points with five rebounds and four assists in the effort.
Despite being down 13 halfway through the third quarter, Florida State fought back and trailed just 60-58 with 7:15 left in the game on a bucket by Timpson. Three-point field goals on back-to-back possessions for Clemson proved to be the dagger as it took a 66-58 lead with 4:39 left. A Tiger layup and the foul with just under a minute left secured the win as it took a 71-61 lead.
Florida State out-rebounded Clemson, 45-36, and out-scored the Tigers off the bench, 25-11.
Clemson took an 18-15 lead through the first quarter, spurred by a 3-point field goal late from Hannah Hank. The Tigers then out-scored the Seminoles 20-15 in the second quarter, making four of their last four from the field heading into the locker room.
Timpson led FSU at the half with six points and six rebounds, and the Seminoles out-rebounded Clemson 25-15 at the break. Brie Perpignan guided Clemson with a seven-point lead into the locker room with 10 points.

Seminoles Downed by Wake Forest in ACC Second Round.
GREENSBORO, N.C. - The No. 5 seed Florida State Women's Basketball team could not hold onto its big lead in the third quarter as it finished its stay at the Ally ACC Women's Basketball Tournament with a 65-54 loss to No. 12 seed Wake Forest on Thursday afternoon in the ACC Second Round. "Huge credit to Wake Forest and their second-half comeback," FSU Head Coach Brooke Wyckoff said. "They really showed a lot of fight and got the job done. Credit to them, and I wish them the best going forward.
"This is a really tough loss. I thought we had a great first half defensively, and that changed in the second half, and we weren't able to score the ball and definitely couldn't get stops."
The Demon Deacons used a 26-0 run in the second half to highlight their comeback. The Seminoles (23-9) went ahead 38-18 early in the third quarter after a layup by sophomore O'Mariah Gordon. Despite Wake Forest scoring nine consecutive points, sophomore Makayla Timpson responded with four straight trips to the free throw to leave FSU leading 42-27 with 5:41 left in the third.
That's when Wake Forest began their large run that swung the momentum of the matchup, taking a 53-42 lead with 6:43 remaining in the game.
Timpson led the Seminoles with 14 points and nine rebounds, falling just short of what would have been her 14th double-double of the season.
"We've just got to go into the tournament and just -- we're just on a loss, like a two-loss streak," Timpson said. "So we've just got to get it done."
Redshirt senior Erin Howard sparked Florida State with 12 points and seven rebounds, making four 3-point field goals. Gordon chipped in with 12 points and three assists in 26 minutes.
The Seminoles were without the nation's best freshman in Ta'Niya Latson, who missed the game due to injury and is day-to-day moving forward.
Florida State held Wake Forest to 16 points at the half, including a two-point second quarter. It was the lowest point total by an FSU opponent at the half since Pitt had 14 on Jan. 22.

Seminoles End Season Against Georgia.
by Stephen Stone
IOWA CITY, Iowa - No. 7 seed Florida State Women's Basketball ended its 2022-23 campaign after falling to 10th-seeded Georgia, 66-54, on Friday afternoon in the NCAA First Round held at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City.
The Seminoles (23-10) were without the services of proven scorers Ta'Niya Latson and O'Mariah Gordon due to injuries. They also sustained a long time period without All-ACC Team member Makayla Timpson, who suffered a cut above her eye five minutes into the game and missed nearly the rest of the first half.
Undermanned with 7-8 players, Florida State gave everything it had. The turning point came toward the end of the third quarter and early in the fourth when the Lady Bulldogs went on a 14-0 run. Georgia turned a 43-40 lead to a 57-40 advantage with 7:43 left in the game.
Graduate guard Taylor O'Brien concluded her collegiate career in fine fashion, scoring 15 points with four rebounds and two steals. O'Brien, who enjoyed a tremendous four-year career at Bucknell before transferring to FSU, got the Seminoles back into the game by scoring eight straight points to cut FSU's deficit to 43-40 with 2:03 left in the fourth quarter.
Redshirt senior Erin Howard led FSU with 19 points and nine rebounds, marking 26 consecutive games with at least one 3-point field goal made. The Madison, Wis., native caps her strong career having led FSU with 56 3-point field goals this season.
Florida State started the game holding an 18-13 first-quarter lead, but Georgia's matchup zone defense extended itself more as the game went on.
