Noles Open Season with Win Over UNF.
by Amanda Cover
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 16 Seminoles (1-0) began the women's basketball season at home with a 78-50 win over North Florida (0-1) on Tuesday night. The win extended their lead in the series with the Ospreys to 11-0 all-time.
"I was really pleased with their effort tonight. They showed that we can be deep, apply a lot of pressure, and have a lot of ability on the boards," said Head Coach Sue Semrau about her team's performance.
Semrau returned to the sidelines after a single-season leave of absence to claim her 454th win all-time.
"I didn't realize how much energy they gave me, and helping them to realize their potential is so fun as a coach," said Semrau. "To come back and feel that kind of energy and see them respond the way they do is the best part of coaching."
The Seminoles out-shot North Florida 44 percent to 32 percent. Redshirt senior guard Bianca Jackson led the Noles with a team-high 13 points.
FSU dominated the boards with 48 rebounds claimed compared to UNF's 32.
"We had a lot of focus on rebounding this week and this season," Jackson explained. "I was really impressed with our posts. They've been crashing really hard and creating a lot of second-chance points."
Senior Morgan Jones was two points away from a double-double after she recorded 10 rebounds, which was just one shy from tying her career high of 11.
Many of the 11 returners had solid performances to begin the season. Valencia Meyers recorded nine points, eight rebounds, and two assists while River Baldwin finished with eight points, seven rebounds, and one assist. Kourtney Weber demonstrated her versatility with seven points, five rebounds, and five assists.
Jackson acknowledged the wide share of points across the roster as 10 different Seminoles scored.
"We had balanced scoring which will be huge for us this year. It will certainly help us later in the season when things tighten up," said Jackson.
Freshman Makayla Timpson scored 10 points in her FSU debut, which was the second-highest total for the Seminoles. Mariana Valenzuela and O'Mariah Gordon also contributed to the victory in their debuts with seven and five points, respectively. Valenzuela also recorded the second-most rebounds for the Noles.
"It's easier to get off to a better start by playing hard," shared Semrau. "No matter whether we're experienced or not, we made North Florida uncomfortable which made it easy for us to jump out earlier."
The first quarter began as a back-and-forth battle between the two teams, but the Seminoles held the lead 20-10 after a strong 15-2 run to close out the quarter.
The Garnet and Gold bench spearheaded the points in the second quarter with 11 points led by Timpson with four. The offense excelled near the end of the quarter to double the lead to 40-20 at half.
Baldwin spurred a great start to the third quarter with two free throws, a steal for two more points, and a defensive rebound which led to a field goal by Jones. Jackson led the Noles in the highest-scoring quarter of the night with six points.
The Noles capitalized on the Ospreys' mistakes in the fourth quarter with 10 points off eight turnovers. Twelve different players logged minutes in the final quarter to solidify the win.

16th-Ranked Florida State Stays Hot vs. Milwaukee.
By Hee-Dee Walenga, Florida State Sports Information intern
TALLAHASSEE, FLA. - The No. 16 Seminoles continued their strong start to the season with an emphatic 79-42 victory over Milwaukee at the Tucker Center on Sunday afternoon.
The 2-0 Noles came out firing early, going on a 13-2 run to start the first quarter. They were led by senior guard Morgan Jones and redshirt senior Bianca Jackson, who each provided six points in a quarter where the team shot an impressive 64 percent from the field.
FSU set the tone on both ends of the floor, forcing 14 turnovers from Milwaukee and scoring 16 points from those turnovers in the first half. The Noles held their opponent to six points in the second quarter with Jackson coming up with two steals.
"With the depth and length we have, we can really pressure teams and make them uncomfortable," said Head Coach Sue Semrau about her team's defensive effort.
Freshman forward Mariana Valenzuela dominated the glass throughout the game, coming down with a game-high nine boards, eight of which came on the defensive end.
Along with outscoring Milwaukee (0-3) 44-10 in the paint, the Seminoles also had an efficient afternoon from beyond the arc, shooting 45 percent (5-11). Overall, FSU shot 59 percent from the floor.
Senior guard Morgan Jones led the team in scoring with 19 points, going 9-of-12. Junior center River Baldwin had a big afternoon on both ends of the floor with 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting and grabbing six rebounds.
The Seminoles shared the ball all afternoon with four players scoring double digit points and the team coming up with 23 assists.
"I've got some pieces that have little experience but boy are they ready when their number is called," said Coach Sue about the team's depth.
The Noles bench also outscored the Panthers by 22 points (33-11). Florida State proved to be too much for the visitors throughout the game with freshman forward Makayla Timpson capping off the victory with a dominant fourth quarter in which she scored all 12 of her points on 6-of-8 shooting.
"I think we did a great job defensively, which opened up a lot," Jones said afterward. "Because when we run in transition, they can't stop us. That's really what it was - it started on the defensive end, and everything else started opening up."

Big Second Half Lifts No. 17 Noles Past Jacksonville.
By Kennedy Knisley, Florida State Sports Information intern
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Senior Valencia Myers scored 15 points in leading the No. 17 Florida State women's basketball team (3-0) to a 64-39 point victory against Jacksonville University. The Seminoles upped their record to 3-0 in coming back from a 10-point deficit early in the first half.
The Seminoles were down 13-3 early on and the Dolphins led 22-19 going into the locker room at half.
"We didn't do what we do," said Head Coach Sue Semrau regarding the first half. "Offensively, we weren't the aggressor."
After the half-time period, they came out with a new mindset as senior Morgan Jones put the Seminoles ahead for good with their first lead of the game at 23-22. This set the tone for the remainder of the game as the 'Noles kept a strong lead and outscored Jacksonville 27-7 in the third period alone.
"As our defense picked up, everything offensively was able to open up," said Myers. "Our first half was not Florida State Basketball. We came out [for the second half], we were aggressive, we were ready to attack. We had better intensity and we put pressure on the ball on defense and that just allowed everything to open up."
Myers pulled down seven rebounds and was 6-of-8 shooting from the field. Jones and freshman Makayla Timpson contributed 12 points each and pulled down eight rebounds apiece.
"She [Timpson] is so willing to do all of the little things; to run, to rebound, to save people when they throw a terrible pass. I thought she and Sara Bejedi were the sparks, they were the difference makers off the bench here tonight," said Semrau.
The 'Noles outscored Jacksonville 24-20 off the bench and outrebounded the Dolphins by a 42-26 margin. FSU also led 14-2 in second-chance points.
The Seminoles shot 46.8 percent from the field and held Jacksonville to 28.1 percent shooting. In the second half, Florida State shot 66.7 percent (16-of-24) and had its best shooting quarter of the season in third at 75 percent.
"We've got to learn how to play with aggression throughout the entire game, regardless of what we feel like," Semrau stated.
Jacksonville's Taylor Hawks had a team-high 14 points and Shynia Jackson contributed 12 points and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.

Jones' 25 Points Lead Noles Past Grambling State.
By Hee-Dee Walenga, FSU Sports Information intern
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Seminoles ended their season-opening four-game homestand unbeaten (4-0) with another resounding 76-53 victory against Grambling State in front of an engaged crowd at the Tucker on Sunday afternoon.
Morgan Jones had her best outing of the season thus far leading the Noles with a game high 25 points on 8-of-12 shooting. It was Jones' fourth career 20-point game and the third-highest scoring performance of her career.
"She took really good shots today. She's been working on those shots for years and years," Head Coach Sue Semrau said about Jones' offensive game.
Guards Sara Bejedi and freshman O'Mariah Gordon pushed the pace for the Noles all afternoon long, dealing out three and five assists respectively. As a team, the Noles finished with 21 assists on 26 buckets. It marked their second straight game finishing with 20+ assists.
Freshman Makayla Timpson sunk a pair of free throws late in the first quarter to put the Noles up 20-18 and they never looked back. River Baldwin had another strong outing in the paint with 10 of her 12 points coming from the restricted area.
"Our guards get out fast. Our coaches constantly remind us that we are best in transition," said Baldwin about the Noles' offensive aggression.
The Noles were persistent offensively throughout the game, with Jones getting to the line 14 times. The Noles turned up the heat defensively in the second half, holding their opponents to just five points in the third quarter. Led by Valencia Myers, who had a game high 10 rebounds, the Noles out-battled the Tigers on the glass by a margin of 13 (39-26).
Myers' 10-point, 10-rebound double-double marked the fifth of her FSU career.
Amaya Brown and O'Mariah Gordon got the crowd on their feet with back-to-back blocks in the fourth quarter. The team finished the game with 11 blocks versus their opponent's 1.
"We talk about being solid. The fact that our players are so athletic and can get up to block shots, is always fun for the crowd," said Coach Sue about her team's defense.
The Noles forced 20 turnovers from the Tigers, scoring 24 points off those turnovers.

Seminoles Lose Close Battle with Purdue.
SAINT PETERSBURG, Fla. - In what was a physical matchup, No. 17 Florida State Women's Basketball fell to Purdue in a close game, 66-61, on Saturday at the St. Pete Showcase held at Eckerd College.
The Seminoles (4-2) were led by senior guard Morgan Jones' 14 points with seven rebounds and two assists on 4-of-5 shooting. FSU out-rebounded the sizeable Boilermakers, 35-34, but a late Purdue run erased FSU's early 53-47 lead in the fourth quarter.
A key 7-0 run by Purdue midway through the fourth quarter was the momentum changer. FSU held a 55-52 lead on layup by Valencia Myers with 6:17 left, but consecutive baskets underneath for Purdue and a 3-point field goal by Cassidy Hardin made it 59-55 Purdue with 4:59 remaining.
Hardin led all scorers with 18 points.
Jones tried to will FSU back with a layup to cut the deficit to 59-57 with 4:22 remaining. Down the stretch, Purdue was able to string together enough stops to earn its first win of the tournament.
Senior Kourtney Weber gave FSU a spark with 11 points on 4-of-9 shooting. Point guard Sara Bejedi added 11 points with five assists and only two turnovers.
Using a different starting lineup on Saturday, FSU was able to out-score Purdue, 31-9, off the bench. The Boilermakers were held to 40.3 percent shooting from the floor. Much of Purdue's offense was predicated on 3-point shooting, as it went 12-of-33 from outside.
Florida State's defensive effort was highlighted by its first shut-out in a quarter since the four quarters format began. In the second quarter, FSU out-scored Purdue 18-0 to go from a 26-15 deficit to a 33-26 halftime lead. The Seminoles raised the pressure on Purdue's outside shooters as the Boilermakers shot 0-for-13 in the second frame.

Women's Basketball Tops Charleston Southern, 83-32.
by Amanda Cover, Sports Information Student Intern
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 25 Florida State women's basketball team (6-2) extended their home winning streak to 5-0 with an 83-32 victory over Charleston Southern on Sunday afternoon at the Donald L. Tucker Center.
"I was really pleased with the fact that we got a lot of players an opportunity to get some experience, and everybody had a chance to score, but we still maintained solid defensive principles," said Head Coach Sue Semrau about her team's largest margin of victory this season.
The team set a new season high of 25 assists on 31 baskets to increase their average to 16.9 assists per game.
Valencia Myers made her 88th start of her career on Sunday, the most among active FSU players and 16th all-time for the Noles. She recorded a perfect scoring percentage in the first quarter and finished the game with 15 points and four rebounds.
Senior Morgan Jones recorded double figures in scoring for the seventh consecutive game this season 16 points against the Buccaneers.
The Seminoles added two more players to the double-figure scoring list in home games this season through Myers and River Baldwin with 13 points.
"Valencia and River did a great job of doing their work in order to receive the ball in positive places to score," said Semrau.
Rebounding continued to be a strength for the Seminoles as the team has won the rebound battle in each of its eight games this season including 56 to 25 margin against the Buccaneers. Mariana Valenzuela tied her career-high of nine rebounds to lead the team against Charleston Southern.
"We're at our best when our defense is at its top tier. We're a great transition team. If we can get out and transition on offense, that's great and comes from great defense," said freshman guard O'Mariah Gordon.
The first quarter started strong with six straight free throws from Jones and solid team rebounding to earn nine second-chance points. The Seminoles drained three three-pointers to extend the lead to 25-11 in the first quarter.
The Garnet and Gold finished the second quarter with an 8-0 scoring run to take a 44-16 lead into halftime. Florida State scored 12 of its 19 points in the second quarter in the paint including nine off rebounds.
After a quiet start to the third quarter, the bench contributed six points to spark the offense and take a 61-22 lead into the final quarter.
Nine different Seminoles scored in the fourth quarter to close out the win 83-32. Valenzuela led the team in scoring in the quarter with all five of her points coming in the final minutes of the game.

Gators Snap Rivalry Win Streak.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Despite a strong surge in the fourth quarter, Florida State Women's Basketball could not overcome its early hole vs. rival Florida as it fell to the Gators, 69-55, on Sunday afternoon at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.
The loss snapped FSU's five-game win streak vs. the Gators (9-3), absorbing its first loss to its in-state foe since 2015.
Junior center River Baldwin produced her second career double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, and the Seminoles (6-3) out-rebounded UF, 44-43, to continue their season-long streak of out-rebounding the opposition.
Early foul trouble, for a team that entered the matchup with the fewest personal fouls in the ACC, cost the Seminoles early. FSU also committed 23 turnovers, while Florida played a relatively clean game with just seven turnovers on the offensive end.
UF was led by three double-figure scorers in Emanuely de Oliveira (16 points), Kiara Smith (11) and Zipporah Broughton (11). Top player Lavender Briggs was held to 2-of-13 shooting and four points.
Senior guard Morgan Jones completed her career-long eighth consecutive game scoring in double figures for FSU, compiling 12 points along with seven rebounds and three assists. Freshman forward Makayla Timpson added seven points and four rebounds in 22 minutes played off the bench.
Quality possessions were at a minimum as Florida defended with plenty of pressure both on the wing and in the post. UF capitalized in second-chance points with 17 and out-scored FSU, 18-5, in points off turnovers. UF also took advantage inside with 36 points in the paint.
Florida took a 38-24 lead into the locker room at halftime, then out-scored the Seminoles, 22-11, in the third to take a commanding 60-35 lead entering the fourth quarter. FSU was able to out-score the Gators, 20-9, in the final frame as Baldwin and Jones each added four points in the final quarter.

Houston's 13 3s Too Much for Florida State.
by Jordyn Rolli
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State women's basketball team (6-4) lost a close battle to Houston (6-5), 78-68, at the Donald L. Tucker Center on Thursday night.
The Seminoles went back and forth with the Cougars throughout Thursday's entertaining affair, but Houston's 13 3-point field goals proved to be too much as it pulled away late.
"We had a lot of people who offensively were helping us, but hurting us on the defensive end," FSU Head Coach Sue Semrau said. "It was a really tough decision to figure out how do we stay solid but also get some production on the offensive end. We thought the zone would slow them down and we got out of that pretty quick. They had a lot of success."
The Seminoles had three players record points in the double digits with Morgan Jones and O'Mariah Gordon tied at 16. KK Timpson followed behind with 12 points. Jones has scored in double figures in the last nine consecutive games.
Gordon also led the team in assists with six on the night.
The Garnet and Gold continued their rebounding dominance over their opponents this season with 38 rebounds to Houston's 34. The Seminoles' bench provided depth by outscoring Houston's bench 33-26.
The first quarter started with River Baldwin opening the scoring with two baskets in the paint and four rebounds. Sammie Puisis recorded her 96th career three-pointer, making her four baskets shy of becoming the 16th Seminole with 100 threes made.
However, Houston held a 22-18 first quarter lead after guard Laila Blair recorded 15 of her 20 points in the first frame, hitting five 3-point field goals to get the Cougars going.
Going into the second half, Sara Bejedi led the Seminoles with eight points. Tonight's contest was Bejedi's third game of the season with multiple three-pointers.
The Seminoles' largest lead of the game came in the third quarter by a margin of 47-42 credited to 11 unanswered points from the Noles. But it continued to be a game of swings as Houston responded with a 6-0 run of its own, never letting FSU break away with a lead.
The final quarter did not prove to be fruitful for the Seminoles, giving Houston their biggest lead of the game.

Noles Drop ACC Opener to Virginia Tech.
By Jordyn Rolli, Florida State Sports Information intern
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State Women's Basketball (6-5, 0-1) dropped their first ACC game of the season at home on Sunday afternoon, falling to Virginia Tech (9-3, 1-0), 92-75, at the Donald L. Tucker Center.
Virginia Tech junior center Elizabeth Kitley sparked the Hokies' first win over FSU since 2013 with 34 points on 13-of-19 shooting along with 13 rebounds. Virginia Tech shot 56 percent from the floor.
"It was really disappointing," FSU Head Coach Sue Semrau said. "I felt like we had some things under control, we were sticking with our game plan, and then for whatever reason the different frustrations allowed us to lose our focus and give up 92 points, which will never win in an ACC game."
Senior guard Morgan Jones delivered her fifth career 20-point game, totaling 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting to lead the Seminoles. Senior Kourtney Weber had a nice shooting performance, finishing with 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting as well as a team-high four assists.
"As a team I thought we could have given a lot more effort on defense and got a lot more stops," Weber added. "Our offense was flowing, but having that defensive presence that we've always had…We've got to bring that back."
FSU heads into the holiday break looking to turn around a three-game losing skid. It shot 47 percent from the floor and knocked down seven 3-point field goals, but lost the battle on the boards for the first time this year as Virginia Tech out-rebounded FSU, 33-24.
The Seminoles did a solid job of taking care of the basketball, only committing nine turnovers while adding 15 assists. Freshman point guard O'Mariah Gordon earned the starting nod on Sunday.
Junior Sammie Puisis chipped in with 10 points off the bench, which FSU out-scored the undermanned Hokies, 28-16. Virginia Tech's Georgia Amoore had a strong game with 20 points and eight assists.
The first period looked hopeful for the Noles, providing them with their largest lead of the game at five points. Weber put up nine points alone in the first period, going 5-of-5 from the floor.
Virginia Tech started their dominance and took the lead early into the second period after scoring seven unanswered points. The Seminoles came back with five of their own to take the lead for the last time of the game. The Hokies sealed their lead with a half-court buzzer shot at the end of the first half by Amoore, taking a 46-38 lead at the half.
Virginia Tech dominated the second half, scoring 46 points to FSU's 37. Jones finished the game with 21 points, making this her 10th consecutive game in double digit scoring.
"I have every belief in this team," Semrau said. "We have really talented players that will figure it out."

Noles Fall at Wake Forest in Overtime.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Florida State Women's Basketball was unable to hold onto a 13-point lead in the fourth quarter and ultimately fell at Wake Forest, 75-69, in overtime on Thursday night at LJVM Coliseum in Winston-Salem, N.C.
With the Seminoles (6-6, 0-2) leading 62-49 with 7:33 remaining in the game, Wake Forest used a 15-2 closing stretch to take the game in overtime. From there, the Demon Deacons (11-2, 1-1) finished off the game by out-scoring FSU in the extra period, 11-5.
"Our turnovers really hurt us down the stretch," FSU Head Coach Sue Semrau said. "We had trouble finding scoring in the block."
Needed offense late in the game came from freshman point guard O'Mariah Gordon, who had 13 points, four assists, and showed good command of the offense in another start.
"O'Mariah was great," Semrau said. "She gave us everything she had. She grew up tonight. I'm proud of all of their fight. It's been a tough week. We led for three quarters and had a chance to win at the end but missed that bunny. We've been dealt a hand and we'll continue to fight."
Bianca Jackson led the Seminoles with 16 points, while freshman Makayla Timpson came off the bench to score 11 points with six rebounds.
Erin Howard recorded her first double-double at FSU with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Jewel Spear led all scorers with 20 points for Wake Forest on 6-of-20 shooting.
Florida State shot 58 percent in the first half and built a 40-29 lead heading into the locker room. Howard proved to be an enormous boost, leading FSU with 10 points and five rebounds at the intermission. Jackson added nine points in the first 20 minutes.
FSU's defense fared well to start the game, holding the Demon Deacons to 39 percent shooting at the break. Both teams wound up shooting 40 percent from the floor.

Florida State Earns 41-Point Win over Wake Forest.
By Jordyn Rolli, FSU Sports Information intern
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State women's basketball team (7-6, 1-2) avenged their overtime loss at Wake Forest (12-4, 2-3) on Dec. 30 with a blowout win, earning a final score of 87-46 at the Donald L. Tucker Center on Sunday, January 9.
After having two games postponed due to COVID protocols, the Seminoles made a statement on the court Sunday. The Noles were driven by strong individual efforts and plenty of team cohesion. Out of the 12 active players, 11 got into the scoring column, contributing to their highest scoring game of the season with their largest win margin.
Morgan Jones, KK Timpson, and Valencia Myers all scored in double digits, making this Jones' 11th consecutive game with double digits.
"I'm so proud of the way they defended," FSU Head Coach Sue Semrau said. "It started with our post players and not letting their post players get easy touches. I thought our guards did a great job on Jewel Spear. They wore her down and that defense really led to a nice offensive performance."
Sammi Puisis etched her name in history, converting on her 100th career 3-point field goal, making her only the 16th Seminole to achieve this feat. Puisis had nine points on the day, all of which were from behind the three-point line.
Defensively, FSU forced 17 turnovers and did not allow a single free throw from the Demon Deacons. Wake Forest was shut down in the second half, only scoring 18 points in the final 20 minutes. Wake Forest shot 35.6 percent and had their longest drought of the game during the third quarter for just under six minutes. FSU used a key 18-0 run that put the game out of reach.
The Seminoles took the lead right out of the gate with a 3-pointer from Puisis. Myers went 3-of-3 in the opening quarter, leading the Seminoles with six points in the first 10 minutes. The defensive strength was evident from the beginning with 10 forced turnovers and two forced shot clock violations early.
The second quarter continued to be fruitful for Florida State, shooting 60 percent from the floor, resulting in a 44-28 lead at the end of the half. The 44-point tally tied the Seminoles' highest lead at half, last seen vs. Charleston on Dec. 5.
Overall, FSU was scorching as it shot 55 percent for the game.
The Seminoles played a lights-out third quarter, proving to be their season's best quarter. Wake Forest was outscored 24-6 in the frame.
Florida State refused to let up on Wake Forest and sealed the win with another strong quarter in the fourth. Jones scored on back-to-back drives, increasing her total points to 11 on the day. The Noles went on another run of three minutes scoring nine uncontested points. O'Mariah Gordon and Erin Howard led the defense, recording six rebounds apiece and only allowing the Demon Deacons to score 18 in the second half.
"I was very impressed with the win today," Semrau added. "It started with defense and rebounding. We were able to outrebound a great defensive rebounding team. Not only did they take care of the ball, but they also learned how to connect with each other on the court with the ball. It was so much fun; it was really pretty basketball to watch."

Noles Fall at No. 15 Georgia Tech in Close Affair.
ATLANTA, Ga. - With a Top 15 victory within its grasp, Florida State Women's Basketball endured a late-game scoring drought as No. 15 Georgia Tech slipped past the Seminoles, 68-64, on Thursday night at McCamish Pavilion.
The Seminoles (7-7, 1-3) played the nation's top defensive team and out-rebounded the Yellow Jackets (13-3, 4-1), 36-33. Freshman Makayla Timpson had a coming-to-age game against two strong post players with 12 points and four rebounds, while Morgan Jones added 11 and Erin Howard also had 12 along with three 3-point field goals.
"KK was a game changer," FSU Head Coach Sue Semrau said. "She scored inside and did everything for us."
Despite FSU holding a 62-57 lead with 3:33 left, Georgia Tech took advantage of second chance opportunities down the stretch and held strong on the offensive glass. Jones hit two free throws to give FSU a 64-63 lead with two minutes remaining, but Georgia Tech's Eylia Love converted a layup to make it 65-64 GT with 47 seconds left.
FSU was unable to convert on a few more possessions to end the game.
"I thought our team fought through everything," Semrau added. "Any little thing that went wrong could have gone in the other direction. It's the first time in a while we've had everyone who could play. We walked into the best defensive team in the country and out-rebounded them. Everyone played a big role but it's disappointing. It's part of the process."
Georgia Tech's Lorela Cubaj led all scorers with 24 points on 10-of-18 shooting, while Lotta-Maj Lahtinen added 16.
Georgia Tech got out to a 22-13 lead through the first quarter, at one point making eight consecutive shots from the floor. Timpson and O'Mariah Gordon each led FSU with four points apiece in the opening frame, while the Yellow Jackets went 9-of-12 from the floor. Cubaj got hot early, scoring 10 points in the first quarter.
The Seminoles hung right in with Georgia Tech through the first two quarters, trailing 36-29 at the half. FSU out-scored the Yellow Jackets 16-14 in the second, getting 19 points off the bench as Gordon and Timpson each had six points at the break. Cubaj went into the locker room with 15 points, while Lahtinen added eight for the Yellow Jackets.
The Noles ended the third quarter on a 7-0 run to take a 51-46 lead entering the fourth. FSU held Georgia Tech to 31 percent shooting in the frame, out-rebounded the Yellow Jackets 11-5 and got balanced scoring. Sammie Puisis delivered back-to-back 3-point field goals to help the Seminoles take a lead.
In the end, Florida State went 8-of-8 from the line while Georgia Tech went 12-of-18. FSU was also whistled for twice as many personal fouls at 22-11.

Big Second Half Lifts Noles Past Clemson.
CLEMSON, S.C. - A strong 26-10 push in the third quarter is what Florida State Women's Basketball needed as it earned a road win at Clemson, 79-68, on Tuesday night at LittleJohn Coliseum.
Trailing 36-35 at the half, FSU used a key 11-0 run in the third to break away from the Tigers (6-11, 0-6). Redshirt junior forward Erin Howard came up big during the stretch with two 3-point field goals and another bucket underneath.
The Seminoles (8-7, 2-3) have now won 22 of their last 25 contests vs. Clemson.
"We didn't come out with the intensity we needed to in the beginning, but in the third quarter they did that," FSU Head Coach Sue Semrau said. "We turned things around in the second half and came out and played like we needed to."
Senior guard Morgan Jones led the Noles with 20 points, her third 20-point performance of the season and the sixth of her career. It's her second 20-point game in her four ACC games this year, scoring 21 vs. Virginia Tech.
Florida State also forced a season-high tying 23 turnovers by the Tigers, FSU's most turnovers forced in ACC play this season. The Seminoles showed their immense depth once again when healthy, out-scoring Clemson 32-7 off the bench.
The 34-32 edge on the glass on Tuesday night also means FSU has out-rebounded 14 of its first 15 opponents. The Seminoles shot 53 percent from the floor as well, their fourth game this season shooting at 50 percent or better.
Redshirt senior guard Bianca Jackson added 11 points for the Seminoles, while Howard, Sammie Puisis and Makayla Timpson each delivered eight.
FSU out-scored the Tigers 20-13 in the second quarter and trailed just by one at the half. Jones already secured her 13th consecutive game in double figures with 11 points, while Jackson added nine off the bench for the Noles. Both teams shot 50 percent through the game's first 20 minutes.
Clemson raced out a 23-15 lead through the first quarter, getting off to hot start as it shot 71 percent from the floor. Delicia Washington led all scorers with eight early points, but Bianca Jackson came off the bench to give FSU a boost with five points of her own, including a three from the corner to make it 23-15 Clemson with 1:03 left in the frame.
Clemson's Amari Robinson led all scorers with 27 points, while Washington added 17.
FSU kept enough pace in the fourth quarter to pull away and nab its first road win in the ACC this season.

Seminoles Fall to Hurricanes.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - A stark advantage on the glass by rival Miami was the ultimate difference on Thursday night as Florida State Women's Basketball fell to the Hurricanes, 59-52, in a physical battle at the Donald L. Tucker Center.
Entering Thursday's game having out-rebounded 14 of their first 15 opponents, the Seminoles (8-8, 2-4) were exploited on the glass by a 47-30 margin.
"I give credit to Miami for really attacking the glass," FSU Head Coach Sue Semrau said. "We did an extremely poor job of rebounding the basketball, and I thought that was the difference in the game."
The loss snaps Florida State's seven-game home win streak vs. Miami, with its last loss to its conference rival at The Tuck occurring in 2014. FSU now leads the all-time series 48-17.
Miami's Kelsey Marshall lifted the Hurricanes (10-6, 3-3) from the beginning with a game-high 21 points.
The rivalry matchup was predicated on strong defense from both teams, with Miami shooting 33 percent while FSU shot 32 percent. FSU forced 20 Miami turnovers but committed 16 of its own. The Seminoles allowed 19 offensive rebounds to Miami, which led to 14 second-chance points.
Florida State had its chances down the stretch of the game. Despite a dagger 3-point field goal by Miami's Destiny Harden to give UM a 54-46 lead with 4:14 left, the Seminoles tried to chip away. Morgan Jones converted two free throws with 2:31 left to cut the deficit to 54-48, and then FSU point guard Sara Bejedi was fouled and made one of two frees throw to make it 54-49 with 2:02 left.
A missed 3-pointer by Miami's Mykea Gray was rebounded by the Hurricanes with 1:19 remaining, and a subsequent foul by FSU put Lola Pendande at the line where she made both free throws.
Later, a layup by O'Mariah Gordon with 43 seconds left cut the FSU deficit to 57-52, but it was too much to overcome.

Noles Close Out Tigers; Sweep Regular Season Series.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Steady play by Florida State Women's Basketball down the stretch of a close one with Clemson allowed it to get past the Tigers on Sunday afternoon, as the Seminoles earned the 75-70 win at the Donald L. Tucker Center to finish a busy three-game week.
Clemson (7-12, 1-7) hung tough for most of the game, getting a layup and the foul from guard Delicia Washington to cut the Florida State (9-8, 3-4) lead to just 66-63 with 1:45 remaining. FSU freshman point guard O'Mariah Gordon then came up with the biggest basket of the game, getting a tough out-stretched runner to fall off the glass and extend the Seminole lead to 68-63 with 1:23 remaining.
From there, senior guard Morgan Jones closed out the game with seven made free throws down the stretch.
"I give a lot of credit to Clemson for always fighting," FSU Head Coach Sue Semrau said. "I think Amanda Butler has done a fantastic job with her team. I think we did a lot of work with our toughness and our grit in the last few days. Three games in a week is very tough. I'm really proud of the effort and that we sustained a run and were able to get the win."
The Seminoles got back to their winning ways on the glass, out-rebounding Clemson 27-24. FSU's bench out-scored the Tigers 35-18, and FSU recorded 15 assists to 12 turnovers on the afternoon.
The win gives FSU a regular-season sweep over Clemson, having defeated the Tigers 79-68 earlier in the week on Tuesday on the road.
Four double-figure scorers highlighted FSU's offensive display, as Jones had 15, freshman forward Makayla Timpson added 12, junior center River Baldwin had 11 and Gordon chipped in with 10.
"Coach Sue has always challenged us," Baldwin said. "That's our big points of emphasis: Defense and rebounding. We had a little slip-up when we lost to Miami, so I think we took the time to buy into that in practice and it carried over to the game. When we start with that, our energy is crazy and it really gets the momentum going."
Baldwin led the Seminoles with eight rebounds and continued her strong career against Clemson, where she has produced some other solid performances. The Andalusia, Ala., native made several hustle plays and came up with timely rebounds, including an offensive board off a missed free throw with 45 seconds and FSU holding a 69-63 lead.
Florida State shot 25-of-26 from the free throw line, while Clemson went 11-of-11. Since the 2009-10 season, it was just the third time two teams combined to miss zero or one free throw on 37 or more attempts according to Her Hoop Stats.
Florida State shot 45.1 percent for the game, while Clemson shot 46.3 percent which included a third quarter where it out-scored FSU, 27-17. The Seminoles held a 35-24 lead at the break before the Tigers came out hot in the third.
Delicia Washington led all scorers with 24 points. Clemson's Amari Robinson, who had 27 points vs. FSU on Tuesday, was held to just seven points on 2-of-8 shooting.

Jones' Big Game Not Enough as FSU Falls at No. 5 Louisville.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Florida State Women's Basketball senior Morgan Jones had a huge game with 28 points, but FSU was unable to get past No. 5 Louisville on Thursday night, falling 75-62 at the KFC Yum! Center.
Jones' 28 points were the most scored against the Cardinals (17-2, 7-1) since Notre Dame standout Arike Ogunbowale dropped 30 vs. Louisville on Jan. 10, 2019.
For Jones, it is her fourth 20-point game of the season and her second-highest total of her career. Last season vs. Clemson she scored a career-best 36 points in a double overtime win.
"I thought Morgan was phenomenal tonight, and Sammie (Pusis) played well also," FSU Head Coach Sue Semrau said. "We just didn't get enough all around, but we came into a hostile environment and played a team allowing 51 points a game, and exceeded those numbers. There is a lot to build on."
Emily Engstler was tough to stop for Louisville, scoring 19 points. FSU junior Sammie Puisis added 10 for the Seminoles (9-9, 3-5). FSU shot well at 45.5 percent and tied the Cardinals on the boards at 35-35. Louisville's bench had a big edge in Thursday's contest at 22-6.
Florida State used its 11th different starting lineup of the season, with O'Mariah Gordon, Puisis, Jones, Erin Howard and River Baldwin taking the court. FSU had control of most of the first quarter until the Cardinals went on a late 9-0 run to take a 13-10 advantage. FSU held strong on the boards, out-rebounding Louisville 11-10 to start the game.
Louisville took charge in the second quarter, going on a 12-1 run at one point and taking a 36-25 halftime lead. Jones led FSU with 15 points and five boards at the intermission, while Louisville had more balanced scoring with Engstler having eight, and Liz Dixon and Hailey Van Van Lith with seven apiece.
FSU came out hot to start the third quarter and out-scored Louisville 23-21 in the frame. Jones continued to fire away from the field with 23 points through three quarters. UofL's Olivia Cochran made a big 3-point field goal to stop FSU's early momentum in the quarter, helping Louisville to a 50-43 lead midway through.
Louisville took advantage in the fourth, making big shots down the stretch to salt the game away.
FSU is now 7-4 vs. Louisville since the Cardinals joined the ACC. The Seminoles, despite the loss, are now 7-5 vs. their last 12 AP Top 25 opponents.

Florida State Bounces Back Against Virginia.
By Hunter Lundy, FSU Sports Information intern
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State Women's Basketball team had one of their most dominant performances of the season against Virginia on Sunday, winning 62-37 at the Donald L. Tucker Center.
"Our defensive effort, especially in the third quarter, helped us to turn it into some offense," FSU Head Coach Sue Semrau said. "I didn't like our intensity to start the ball game, they scored 11 on us in the first quarter and we held them to just 10 the next couple of quarters total, which gave us a chance to play a lot of people in the fourth. Any win is a great win in the ACC."
The Cavaliers (3-15, 0-8) were held in check all afternoon, scoring just 37 points to mark a season low by an ACC opponent vs. FSU. The Seminoles forced a season-high 25 turnovers by Virginia, generated 25 points off those turnovers. FSU also dominated the paint, winning 34-6 inside.
The 11 made field goals by UVA also ties an opponent season low this season, tying Charleston Southern.
Senior guard Morgan Jones led the Seminoles in scoring, scoring 16 points, grabbing seven boards, blocking three shots, and adding two steals. It was Jones' 16th double-figure scoring game of the year.
Freshman forward Makayla Timpson added nine points and grabbed five offensive rebounds in 18:17. She was a big part of Florida State picking up its intensity in the second half.
"In the locker room, we got an intense talk from Coach Brooke (Wyckoff), but she fired us up. It opened our eyes and made us pick it up in the second half," Timpson said about FSU's halftime speech. "We wanted to win for her, and we wanted to win for Coach Sue."
Virginia kept the first quarter close as they were only down three to the Seminoles after one, 14-11. After that quarter, the Seminoles picked things up and out-scored the Cavaliers, 48-26, the rest of the way.
FSU got more balanced scoring, including seniors Valencia Myers and Bianca Jackson scoring eight points apiece for the Garnet and Gold. Myers added eight rebounds and three assists.

Florida State Defeated by No. 3 NC State.
RALEIGH, N.C. - A breakout third quarter for third-ranked NC State allowed it to get past Florida State Women's Basketball on Thursday night, as the Seminoles fell 68-48 at Reynold's Coliseum in Raleigh, N.C.
Trailing by just eight at the half, FSU was out-scored 20-10 in the third frame. The Seminoles (10-10, 4-6) found it difficult to work the ball on their possessions against a stingy Wolfpack (20-3, 11-1) defense. NC State, which is among the nation's best offenses, also was able to hit 11-of-23 3-point attempts.
"We continued to fight tonight," FSU Head Coach Sue Semrau said. "It can be tough when they are hitting shots like that. This is a growth process, and I thought we made great strides against what I consider to be an NCAA Final Four team."
O'Mariah Gordon led FSU with 12 points in just over 21 minutes played on Thursday. Fellow point guard Sara Bejedi also showed a good comfort level against NC State, finishing with seven points. Morgan Jones added nine in the loss.
The Wolfpack had four double-figure scorers, led by Jakia-Brown Turner's 13 points. NC State shot 44.9 percent from the floor.
NC State came out hot in the first quarter, going on a stretch where it made four consecutive 3s and went 6-of-8 from distance. The Wolfpack used a 14-2 run to stretch its lead to 24-12 at the end of the first. Gordon tried to build something going into the second when her runner in the lane beat the buzzer to end the first.
FSU held the Wolfpack in check in the second quarter, out-scoring it 13-9. The Seminoles used a 10-0 run to get back into the game. At the break, Sammie Pusis led FSU's balanced scoring with six points, while Bejedi played a strong second quarter at the point guard spot and added five. Puisis' two 3-point field goals on the night give her 112 for her career.
Both teams played a fairly even fourth quarter, but NC State's breakaway third was all it would need to earn the win over FSU.

Noles Take Down No. 20 Notre Dame.
By Hee-Dee Walenga, FSU Sports Information intern
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Seminoles beat No. 20 Notre Dame, 70-65, in front of a lively crowd at the Tucker Center on Sunday afternoon. The matchup was a Play4Kay game that helped raise breast cancer awareness and spread the good work of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
The win marked the Noles' first ever victory against the Fighting Irish (18-5, 9-3). FSU has now earned at least one AP Top 25 win in each of the last eight seasons. The victory was the 51st ranked win by Head Coach Sue Semrau.
FSU got going early in the first quarter when junior guard Sammie Puisis hit her 114th career 3-pointer to move into the top 10 in program history.
Valencia Myers got into her offensive groove in the second quarter with back-to-back buckets. Both teams battled hard in the second quarter with the lead changing five times. Sara Bejedi was perfect from distance throughout the afternoon, hitting two of her three 3-pointers in the second quarter. Myers and Bejedi led the line offensively in the first half for the Noles with each player contributing six points.
The Noles came out of halftime firing. True freshman O'Mariah Gordon set the tone with two tough drives to the basket. The Noles never looked back as they proceeded to go on a 9-0 run where Myers continued to assert her dominance inside on her way to a team high 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting. The Noles were locked in on both ends of the floor, holding Notre Dame to a field goal percentage of 21 percent in the third quarter and out-battling their opponents 10-6 on the boards in that frame.
"We had to continue the defensive momentum from the NC State game", said Myers post-game.
The offense was on a roll with four players ending the game with double digit points. The team shot an impressive 51 percent from the floor, including 46 percent from beyond the arc.
The Fighting Irish attempted to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter after trailing by as much as 18 points and got within 3 points before Bejedi and Jones sank two late clutch jumpers. Gordon stepped up to line and made both of her free throws with 12 seconds remaining to effectively seal the deal.
"We have been talking a lot about how it is okay to make mistakes, you just have to fight. They did that today, they fought. When they were told about who Kay (Yow) was, it really got to them. It pushed them forward today," said Semrau.
The Play4Kay game is one of two pink games that the Noles will host this season. Coach Sue was a long-time friend of beloved NC State head coach Kay Yow, having coached against her 21 times between 1997 and 2009. Raising cancer awareness is near and dear to FSU Women's Basketball, with Coach Sue taking a leave of absence last season to help in her mother's fight against cancer. The afternoon culminated with Coach Sue addressing the elated and emotional crowd*

Noles Secure Big Road Win at Duke.
DURHAM, N.C. - Shooting 57.1 percent down the stretch of a back-and-forth game on the road, Florida State Women's Basketball made winning plays and secured a key 59-56 victory at Duke on Thursday night at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
It was FSU's fifth win in Durham overall. Big plays late in the game were made by several contributors, include clutch buckets from Bianca Jackson. Morgan Jones led FSU with 13 points, while River Baldwin added eight.
The Seminoles (12-10, 6-6) climbed back to .500 in ACC play, while the Blue Devils (15-8, 6-7) fall to 6-7 in the ACC standings. FSU dominated in the paint, out-scoring Duke 38-24 and executing its game plan of taking advantage inside.
Leading 57-50 with 1:51 remaining, FSU tried to close the door on Duke but the Blue Devils stayed relentless. Miela Goodchild hit back-to-back 3-point field goals to cut the Duke deficit to 57-56 with 1:09 remaining. From there, despite missing on its key offensive possession, the Seminoles made several defensive stops and hit free throws down the stretch.
Duke had one more chance trailing 59-56 with 3.3 seconds left, but freshman Shayeann Day-Wilson stepped out of bounds on a 3-point attempt that actually went in. FSU would in-bound the ball in its front court and run out the clock with O'Mariah Gordon alluding would-be foulers from Duke.
Florida State showcased some strong defensive play early, taking a 13-8 first-quarter lead after holding the Blue Devils to just 19 percent from the floor. Jones got the Seminoles going with five quick points as she was a focal part of the offense early. FSU scored 12 of its 13 first-quarter points in the paint.
Duke out-scored the Seminoles 19-13 in the second quarter to take a 27-26 halftime lead. It was a physical quarter of basketball, which included a few referee reviews. FSU continued to pound the paint for its best scoring chances, registering 22 points inside at the break compared to just five 3-point field goal attempts.
The game remained physical in the third quarter, with Duke holding a 39-37 advantage headed to the fourth. Sammie Puisis began to knock down some looks and Makayla Timpson continued her strong game to help keep the contest tight.

Seminoles Fall at Miami.
CORAL GABLES, Fla. - A hot shooting start for Miami was too much for Florida State Women's Basketball to overcome as it fell to the Hurricanes, 76-59, on Sunday afternoon at the Watsco Center.
"We were well prepared for this game, but Miami did a nice job," FSU Head Coach Sue Semrau said. "It was too much hurry up for us. They were very active defensively. We won't walk out here dwelling on this. We have a quick turnaround to Syracuse on Tuesday."
The Hurricanes (13-10, 6-7) shot 55.1 percent in the game, although the Seminoles (12-11, 6-7) shot at a good clip as well at 46.9 percent. FSU was hurt by its 25 turnovers committed, tying a season high, and Miami capitalized off those turnovers with 35 points.
Junior Sammie Puisis and freshman O'Mariah Gordon each led FSU with 10 points apiece. Miami's Karla Erjavec led the Canes with 15.
Miami ran its offense well in the opening quarter, shooting 69 percent including 5-of-6 from 3-point range to race out to a 24-12 lead. Morgan Jones kept FSU in it with six early points, but the Hurricanes found ways to hit tough contested jumpers throughout the opening frame.
FSU was plagued by turnovers heading into the half, amassing 15 at the break as it trailed 41-26. Puisis began to heat up for the Seminoles, recording eight points which included two 3-point field goals. Erin Howard chipped in with five at intermission, but Miami shot 60 percent through the first two quarters and was led by Erjavec's 11 points.
The Noles started off well in the third quarter, with consecutive buckets by Valencia Myers and Jones trimming their deficit to 43-32 with 7:04 left in the third quarter. But the Canes came back with a quick 7-2 run to limit FSU's momentum, and would out-score the Seminoles 17-15 in the third before earning a win at the Watsco Center.

Noles Get Key Road Win at Syracuse.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Behind Morgan Jones' 21 points and Valencia Myers' double-double, Florida State Women's Basketball got a big road win at Syracuse on a frigid Tuesday night, winning 73-67 at the Carrier Dome on just one day of rest between games.
It was Jones' eighth career 20-point game, including the fifth of the season. Myers added 13 points and 10 rebounds, the sixth double-double of her career.
FSU used a key 18-11 third quarter to break away, and despite Syracuse ramping up the full-court pressure in the fourth, the Seminoles (13-11, 7-7) stay composed in the final quarter and managed to break the press several times and find easy baskets.
The Seminoles also capitalized from the free throw line, going 15-of-20 and getting aggressive to the basket in the second half to create better scoring chances. FSU shot 15-of-27 in the second half.
"They're a team that's so dangerous in spurts," FSU head coach Sue Semrau said of Syracuse. "When they came back and took the lead in the first half, you could see it. Our kids took better shots in the second half, and in the first half got long run-outs from quick shots. It was a huge team win."
FSU out-rebounded Syracuse 48-38, getting big offensive rebounds from River Baldwin and Mariana Valenzuela.
"I'm so proud of her," Semrau said of Valenzuela and her six rebounds. "KK (Timpson) is a kid that plays in the post. We needed somebody who is used to the perimeter more. Mariana came in, played great defense, rebounded the ball and was smart. It was fun to see her step up and be a big force today."
Jones played a big role in holding prolific Syracuse scorer Teisha Hyman to just 10 points on 5-of-19 shooting.
The Seminoles got out to a 20-18 lead through the first quarter, going 3-of-6 from long distance as Sammie Puisis buried two 3's of her own to mark her 11th game this season with multiple 3-point field goals. FSU built a nine-point lead in the quarter, but Syracuse raced back into it by shooting 53.3 percent. Alaysia Styles led the Orange early with six points.
Florida State took a 32-28 lead into the locker room, boosted by a left-handed layup from Myers right before the end of the half. The Seminoles used a 5-0 run to end the half, as O'Mariah Gordon contributed to the run with a layup in transition. Both teams combined for 18 fast-break points in the first half.
Myers picked up her sixth career double-double toward the end of the third quarter as FSU out-scored Syracuse 18-11. FSU put the clamps down defensively, especially toward the end of the third when the Orange were held one of their last eight from the floor.
Despite Syracuse out-scoring FSU 28-23, which included several foul calls, the Seminoles managed to get another big road win.

Another Strong Second Half Powers Noles Past Boston College.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Clinging to a one-point lead at halftime, Florida State Women's Basketball produced a 40-point second half and defeated a physical Boston College team, 66-58, on Thursday night at the Donald L. Tucker Center.
With the Seminoles (14-11, 8-7) and Eagles (16-10, 7-8) coming into the game with identical 7-7 ACC records, the victory was key for Florida State. FSU is tied for seventh in the ACC standings with Miami (15-10, 8-7) with three regular-season games left.
The victory over Boston College also marks the first time FSU moves above .500 in ACC play this season. FSU has won four of its past five games, saving its best basketball down the stretch.
"I'm really proud of them," FSU Head Coach Sue Semrau said. "I felt like the physicality was something that we matched. (Taylor) Soule is a tremendous player; she's really physical. (Maria) Gakdeng is a handful. She's long and physical, and it was nice to see us match that."
The game had the potential to get away from Florida State early, with Boston College's Maria Gakdeng grabbing seemingly every offensive rebound in the opening quarter. Florida State junior center River Baldwin helped change the complexion of the ballgame, scoring 11 points, grabbing eight rebounds and drawing five fouls.
Baldwin also made it tougher for Gakdeng to be effective, putting in a strong defensive effort. FSU out-scored the Eagles 34-21 with Baldwin on the floor, and were out-scored 32-37 when she was on the bench.
"We knew coming in that they crashed the O-boards really hard," Baldwin said. "Physicality was the name of the game. We just had to step it up in that department."
Boston College out-rebounded Florida State 40-33, but FSU closed the gap significantly in the second half. After recording 10 offensive rebounds in the opening quarter where BC led 15-9, FSU limited the Eagles to just nine for the rest of the game.
Senior guard Morgan Jones scored 12 of her 17 points in the second half, coming out hot in the third quarter with her mid-range jumper. FSU out-scored BC 20-15 in the third, continuing its trend of strong third-quarter play against ACC teams as it properly makes halftime adjustments.
Freshman Mariana Valenzuela produced another fine game, chipping in with seven points and three rebounds in 12:56. The native of Mazlatan, Mexico, has provided FSU with another formidable player around the paint.
After Taylor Soule cut the BC deficit to 60-55 on a pair of made free throws with 54 seconds in the fourth quarter, FSU had a big possession to put the game out of reach. Freshman O'Mariah Gordon took the shot clock down and recorded a clutch reverse layup that was high on difficulty, putting FSU ahead 62-55 with 27 seconds left.
An important defensive stop for the Seminoles resulted in BC fouling FSU, and Bianca Jackson iced the game with two more free throws with 18 seconds remaining.
Despite BC's Cameron Swartz getting 22 points, it came on 24 shots as she went 7-of-24 from the floor.
Florida State continued shooting well, going 48 percent (24-of-50) from the floor. FSU shot 50 percent (14-of-28) in the second half. BC was held to just 30.9 percent (21-of-68) from the floor.

Strong Fourth Quarter Pushes No. 24 UNC Past Florida State.
By Hee-Dee Walenga, FSU Sports Information intern
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State Women's Basketball fell to No. 24 UNC, 64-49, on Sunday afternoon in what was a Paint It Pink game at the Donald L. Tucker Center.
"It was disappointing the way we finished the game," FSU Head Coach Sue Semrau said. "I thought we were scratching and clawing and doing some things, and I thought they (UNC) did a great job of going to a smaller lineup. We couldn't guard their penetration, and then when they were hitting those tough shots, we couldn't come in and knock down shots."
The Tar Heels (21-5, 11-5) held just a 40-35 lead through the first three quarters, but shot 56.3 percent (9-of-16) in the fourth quarter to out-score the Seminoles (14-12, 8-8), 24-14. Guard Deja Kelly played all 40 minutes and totaled 26 points on 9-of-15 shooting with five assists.
FSU senior guard Morgan Jones got things going in the second half to finish with 11 points and five rebounds. Her layup and the foul cut the UNC lead to just one at 45-44, but the Tar Heels used a game-changing 11-0 run to break it open and take a 12-point lead with 4:15 left in the game.
Senior forward Valencia Myers added eight points and 11 rebounds off the bench, where the Seminoles out-scored UNC 20-7. The Tar Heels won the battle inside, out-rebounding FSU 40-32.
The Tar Heels managed to build an early lead before Erin Howard and Sara Bejedi each hit three pointers in a tight opening period. The Noles bench outscored their opponents 11-0 in the first quarter, taking a 14-13 advantage.
The game remained tight in the second quarter with the Noles going on an 8-3 run at the end of the frame to trail 25-22 at the half.
The Noles came out of halftime productive when Jones drove it to the basket for a tough finish. O'Mariah Gordon followed suit with a nice layup in traffic. Gordon and Jones would soon work in tandem again when Gordon came up with a steal to give Jones a layup on the fast break to tie the game at 33 apiece.
FSU was unable to sustain its momentum in a fourth quarter where the Tar Heels worked some of their best offense of the day. FSU's loss snaps its six-game win streak vs. UNC.

Seminoles Outlast No. 22 Georgia Tech in Overtime.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - In a back-and-forth thriller at the Tucker Center, the Florida State Women's Basketball team secured a big win after defeating No. 22 Georgia Tech, 65-63, in overtime in front of a boisterous crowd on Thursday night.
Emotions were already high on Senior Night as five members including Tiana England, Bianca Jackson, Morgan Jones, Valencia Myers and Kourtney Weber were honored before the game. England was able to get her first action of the season by getting the starting nod.
But the night will be remembered for a tough, physical battle that the Seminoles (15-12, 9-8) won in exhilarating fashion.
"It was the same type of game at Georgia Tech, and we came up three points short (that game)," FSU Head Coach Sue Semrau said. "The free throw line switched from that game to this game. We felt like we needed to attack and we needed to put them in a situation where they had to guard our penetrators.
"I can't say enough about River Baldwin - she sprinted I don't know how many times from the block to go set a ball screen that allowed us to get that penetration. I think defensively I was really proud of the way we played. We had scoring droughts and (Georgia Tech) is a really good defensive team. To find a way to win was big."
The Yellow Jackets (19-9, 10-7) entered the game ranked 23rd in the NET, giving FSU another important Top 25 victory. Senior Morgan Jones was the catalyst with 21 points and 10 rebounds - her fifth career double-double. Jones is now 13 points shy of becoming the 39th 1,000-point scorer in FSU history.
Baldwin was a difference maker in the post, scoring eight points with eight rebounds and holding a strong defensive position all game and in critical moments. She helped hold Georgia Tech's Lorela Cubaj to just one point while going 0-for-6 from the floor. She also had some key 1-on-1 defensive segments down the stretch where the Yellow Jackets couldn't score.
The physical nature of junior guard Sara Bejedi was a boost for the Seminoles against Georgia Tech's strength. She recorded 10 points with three assists and two steals, hitting two 3-point field goals.
With 3:10 remaining in regulation, Baldwin tied up the game at 51-51 on a layup, and Bejedi extended the lead with a couple made free throws to give the Seminoles a 53-51 lead. Georgia Tech's Lotta Maj-Lahtinen then sank a 3-point field goal to put Georgia Tech back ahead, but FSU's Jackson hit 1 of 2 after getting fouled to tie the game again at 54-54.
Georgia Tech's Sarah Bates collided with Bejedi with just 11 seconds remaining on FSU's offensive possession, committing a foul that resulted in Bejedi temporarily exiting the game. Sammie Puisis came in for the Seminoles and hit both free throws, but GT's Eylia Love came back with a basket of her own to make it 56-56 and headed to overtime.
Key defensive stops are what helped elevate FSU to the win. Jackson then came off a screen and hit a big shot just outside the paint to put the Seminoles ahead 65-61 with 55 seconds left.
Digna Strautmane, who went 7-of-9 on the night, followed with a basket to cut the GT deficit to 65-63 with 39 seconds remaining in overtime. While FSU could not capitalize on its own end, it forced a tough offensive possession where Georgia Tech couldn't get a shot off in time to end the game and start the on-court celebration.
"There was a lot of cheering (after the game)," Bejedi said. "But most importantly we told ourselves that 'Hey, this is what we're capable of doing.' That was the main conversation we were having, and we're looking forward to the next game."

Noles Finish Regular Season with Win at Pitt.
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Another tough and physical battle went the way of Florida State on Sunday afternoon as it got past Pitt, 57-52, at the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, Pa. Sunday's victory over Pitt marks seven consecutive years of finishing with double-digit wins in the ACC based on a full conference schedule. Last year's 9-7 season is excluded because FSU wasn't able to play its full allotment of ACC games.
Freshman point guard O'Mariah Gordon helped engineer an offense that recorded 16 assists to just seven turnovers, as she led the way with 10 points. The Seminoles out-scored the Panthers (11-18, 2-16) by 10 points with her on the floor.
The regular-season ending win brings a strong finish for the Seminoles, who won seven of their last 10 games down the stretch with several Top 25 opponents mixed in.
Junior River Baldwin was also a factor with nine points in 18:14, and Bianca Jackson was strong on both ends of the floor and finished with eight points in just under 25 minutes.
FSU's defensive prowess also included eight blocked shots, an ACC season high for the Seminoles.
The Seminoles and Panthers got off to slow starts in the opening quarter as FSU took a 13-7 lead. FSU was held scoreless for the final 2:26 of the period, but defensively it stepped up with four blocks. Erin Howard and Baldwin were both active in the early going, with Howard leading the way with five points in the first.
Gordon's five points in the final minute of the first half provided the boost FSU needed. Her 3-point field goal with 48 seconds left on a kick-out from Valencia Myers was followed by a nice drive to the basket and layup right before the halftime buzzer. With Pitt's physical defense proving tough to crack, FSU managed to take a 28-21 lead at the break.
More late quarter execution paid off for the Seminoles in the third. Kourtney Weber hit a straightaway 3-pointer with 47 seconds left in the third to create a 42-35 lead for FSU, followed by a leaner from Bianca Jackson to beat the buzzer and give the Seminoles momentum heading into the fourth with a 44-35 lead.
Pitt would make it interesting in the fourth, but FSU's ability to draw fouls and salt the game away with free throws gave it another ACC win.

Noles Hang On to Defeat Boston College.
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Ninth-seeded Florida State Women's Basketball earned an enormous win on Thursday afternoon, defeated No. 8 seed Boston College, 63-58, in the ACC Tournament Second Round held at the Greensboro Coliseum.
The matchup was regarded as one of the most important in the conference tournament so far considering both teams were standing on equal ground fighting for a chance at an NCAA Tournament bid. The Seminoles (17-12, 10-8) came away victorious after managing to stave off a furious run by the Eagles (19-11, 10-8) to end the game.
"I'm really proud of the effort that our team -- it wasn't just today, it's been a process. It's been progress by process," FSU Head Coach Sue Semrau said. "We had a lot of injuries early. We had some COVID issues. We had to make up some games, and they just stayed faithful. They stayed looking at what was next, what was next, what was next.
"That's a really good Boston College team. They are so talented. They've got tremendous weapons at every position, and I thought, you know, we defended them about as well as we could, and I thought they're a great team. Obviously they made a big run at the end, and just happy we were able to sustain that."
Florida State has now won eight of their last 11 contests in ACC play, coinciding with the period where it has been at full health.
With Florida State holding a 54-41 lead with 4:00 left, Boston College went on a very quick 8-0 run because of its ability to pressure on the inbound, cutting the Seminole lead to 54-49 with 3:39 left.
Junior guard Sara Bejedi proved big down the stretch, drawing fouls with Florida State already in the bonus and doing her best to salt the game away with five free throws. Her last free throw gave the Seminoles a 61-55 advantage with 48 seconds remaining.
BC sharp-shooter Cameron Swartz, who was held to nine points, drilled a deep 3-point field goal to cut the game to one possession at 61-58 with 38 seconds left.
"I felt like mixing up Morgan (Jones) and Sammie (Puisis) on her, their length maybe bothered them a little bit, but I think the biggest thing was the way we defended the ball screen action, and that helped us defensively too -- I was stunned when I saw that we held her to nine points," Semrau said.
The game sealing play was made by All-ACC First Teamer Morgan Jones of the Seminoles, who found enough space for a soaring layup just before the shot clock expired to give FSU a 63-58 lead with 7.6 seconds left.
Jones also had another clutch basket, hitting a mid-range jumper to make it 59-55 with 1:12 left. The basket put her in the 1,000-point club at FSU, becoming the 39th Seminole to join the list.
Jones went 5-of-8 from the floor for 11 points along with five rebounds, two assists and two steals. Redshirt junior forward Erin Howard had an impact performance with a season-high 16 points, five rebounds along with four 3-point field goals.
"It feels great to see them drop," Howard said of her 3-point shooting. "I've been shooting decently over the season, but the past few games they haven't been falling. So it's a big confidence booster to see them go in tonight."
Junior guard Sammie Puisis was strong on Thursday as well, scoring 12 points on four 3-point field goals in 29:16 of action.
The Seminoles shot 46 percent from the floor against a strong defensive unit like Boston College, bolstered by a third quarter where they shot 66.7 percent (8-of-12). FSU out-scored Boston College 20-15 in the third. Despite the Eagles going on an 8-0 run that quarter, FSU responded with a game-changing 10-2 run to keep itself at distance before BC's final flurry in the fourth.
Florida State now prepares for No. 1 seed NC State on Friday at 2 p.m. in the ACC Tournament Quarterfinals. The game will air on several of the ACC's regional sports networks, including Bally Sports Florida.
"I think that the ACC Tournament when you look at it, I mean, it's -- I told the players, it's the granddaddy of them all," Semrau said. "We were the first to have a women's ACC Tournament, a women's conference tournament, and it's been an amazing tournament.
"It's not easy to come in after a brutal season and face somebody you faced 10 days ago. I really credit our players. I credit them for the energy, the focus that they had coming in. It's a different team every year, and you've got to continue to talk through it every single year."

Seminoles Finish ACC Tournament with Loss to Top-Seeded NC State.
GREENSBORO, N.C. - No. 9 seed Florida State Women's Basketball ended its stay at the ACC Tournament on Friday afternoon after falling to No. 1 seed NC State, 84-54, in the conference quarterfinals at the Greensboro Coliseum.
Friday's game marked FSU's 10th consecutive appearance in the ACC Quarterfinals.
The Wolfpack (27-3, 17-1) shot 52 percent in the contest, just the third opponent in 20 games against conference foes that has shot north of 50 percent against the Seminoles (17-13, 10-8). Elissa Cunane guided NC State with 15 points and six rebounds.
FSU junior guard Sara Bejedi posted a career-best 21 points in 21 minutes on 8-of-11 shooting, often creating 1-on-1 space and taking advantage of her quickness to the rim. Bejedi finishes the tournament on a strong two-game run after being a huge factor against Boston College on Thursday when she drew eight fouls and scored eight points with three assists.
NC State was able to get 42 points inside and out-rebounded the Seminoles 38-28. FSU's point guard play accounted for 30 of its 54 points as freshman O'Mariah Gordon added nine points and two assists.
The Seminoles continued their season-long trend of out-scoring opponents off the bench, owning a slight edge over the Wolfpack 34-32. Winning the third quarter to trim the Seminoles' 13-point halftime deficit was the goal, but NC State came out firing once again and out-scored FSU 24-14 in the third.
FSU managed to shoot 4-of-9 from the outside, and with its two games combined in Greensboro, went 13-of-27 from beyond the arc after burying a season-high nine in Thursday's crucial win over Boston College. Despite the loss on Friday, FSU heads into NCAA Selection Sunday winners of seven of its last 10 games in what is arguably the toughest conference in the country.

Noles End Season Against Missouri State.
by Stephen Stone
BATON ROUGE, La. - No. 11 seed Florida State Women's Basketball ended its season on Thursday night in the inaugural First Four, falling to 11th-seeded Missouri State, 61-50, at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, La.
The Seminoles (17-14) finish a year in which they made their ninth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. FSU has appeared in every NCAA postseason since 2013.
The Lady Bears (25-7) used a bruising style of play and controlled the paint for much of the contest. They advance to play sixth-seeded Ohio State.
A pair of freshmen stepped up to lead FSU in the First Four. Freshman point guard O'Mariah Gordon ended her strong season by finishing with a team-best 12 points and adding five assists. Makayla Timpson chipped in with eight points along with six rebounds.
After getting behind to Missouri State by a 14-1 score in the first quarter, the Seminoles went on a 25-4 run and attacked the basket to draw numerous fouls, taking a 26-18 lead with 3:15 left before halftime. FSU went 16-of-20 from the free throw line in the first half, but some of its momentum was stymied when Missouri State hit a late 3-point field goal in the second quarter to tie the game at 29-29 at the intermission.
The second half belonged to Missouri State, as FSU mounted 10 turnovers in that time span and the Lady Bears finished the game out-scoring the Seminoles 16-4 in second-chance points. But FSU stayed within striking distance trailing 52-46 on a layup from Gordon with 4:42 left in the game. Brice Calip countered with a bank shot mid-range jumper to ignite a game-sealing 7-0 run for the Lady Bears.
Missouri State finished with four players scoring in double figures, led by Mya Bhinhar's 12 points.
