Davis Named ACC Outdoor Field Performer of the Year.

June 20, 2024

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - After winning the ACC Indoor Field Performer of the Year in 2024 and 2023, Jeremiah Davis was named the ACC Men's Outdoor Field Performer of the Year, the conference announced on Thursday.

Davis becomes the third Seminole in program history to capture the award for the outdoor season, joining Isaac Grimes (2021) and FSU Athletics Hall of Fame member Ngoni Makusha (2011), who won the Bowerman Award in 2011.

Davis became the first student-athlete from the ACC to receive the ACC Field Performer of the Meet in three consecutive seasons after winning gold in both the long jump and triple jump at the 2024 ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

The Lehigh Acres, Florida, native repeated as ACC Champion in the long jump with a mark of 7.95m (26-1 3/4), before claiming the title in the triple jump with a mark of 16.71m (54-10). It was the first time since 2018 FSU has won the event.

Davis went on to win silver in the long jump (8.07m, 26-5 3/4) before taking fourth in the triple jump (16.62m, 54-6 1/2) at the NCAA Outdoor Championship, capturing his 10th and 11th career All-American honors.

"Multiple All-American and ACC honors throughout his career," said jumps coach Leevan Sands. "Jeremiah is well deserving of this award. His hard work and dedication has earned him another accolade. I'm so proud of him and over the past two years he has shown relentless, commitment, and determination pushing through challenges and consistently striving for excellence. In his final season with Florida State, it's been an honor to coach such an outstanding student-athlete."

"We had limited events today, but we had some strong performances." said Bob Braman "That was a great opener by Agnes McTighe in the one mile. I thought the women's sprinters were really good and it was really good to see the women's squad run well in the one mile."

"I think we had some really strong performances" said Matt Kane, "Andre showed really nice consistency and that's says a lot for a freshman. Liana Tyson had a great run that resulted in a new personal best. She's proving she has a very bright future."

Kane believes that competing at a two-day meet like the RAAD Sports Invite will benefit the team in the long run. "That's the format we're going to have during championship time, so it's good to get one under our belt so we can get used to it. This is just momentum heading into next weekend.

"We're chasing marks this upcoming weekend and moving forward. Each group has one goal in mind and that's continue to keep picking up marks. We always talk about chasing the National qualifying marks at the end of January. That's the time you really want to be good, so the momentum is going in the right direction.

"We're going to three different meets to face the best of the best for competition. It's the best way to get the marks we're looking for as we hope to have more people in the top ten NCAA marks."

Davis Takes Home NCAA Silver.

March 8, 2024

BOSTON, Mass. - Jeremiah Davis highlighted the No.19/NR Florida State indoor track and field teams on Friday at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Boston.

Davis earned silver in the men's long jump with a measurement of 8.20m, capturing his third consecutive first-team All-America honor in the event for his indoor career. Jordan Turner placed 13th with a leap of 7.31m, earning second-team All-America.

"I'm really proud of Jeremiah," said FSU track and field head coach Bob Braman. "He had his best competition of the year and gave himself a chance for a national title. He will compete in the triple jump tomorrow, where he's one of the favorites to win. Jordan had two jumps that would have placed in the top five, but they resulted in fouls."

For the first time since 2019, two Seminoles competed in women's 60-meters on the national stage. Shenese Walker punched her ticket to the final round on Saturday with the eighth-fastest overall time at 7.23.

Dajaz DeFrand placed behind Walker in ninth, nearly missing the final with a time of 7.24. DeFrand capped off her weekend placing 11th in the 200 with a time of 23.08, earning second-team All-America.

"Strong races for both Shenese and Dajaz in the 60-meter," Braman added. "Dajaz missed qualifying by one spot, but still a good season for her in the 60. I'm excited to see what Shenese does in the finals tomorrow."

The 19th ranked men's team currently stands in eighth place with eight points. Davis will compete in the triple jump on Saturday and David Mullarkey will race the 3,000, looking to add to the team total.

Noles Conclude NCAAs with All-America Honors.

March 9, 2024

BOSTON, Mass. - No.19/NR Florida State indoor track and field teams concluded the NCAA Indoor Championships on Saturday in Boston by capturing three All-America honors.

Jeremiah Davis added his second first-team All-America honor of the meet by placing third in the men's triple jump with a measurement of 16.60m.

"Jeremiah did a lot of heavy lifting for us" said FSU track and field head coach Bob Braman. "Jeremiah is the only jumper to record two top three finishes. He's an incredible athlete who is an Olympian in the making."

David Mullarkey placed 11th in the 3,000 meters (7:55.42), establishing second-team All-America after being seeded 14th coming into the event.

Shenese Walker finished fifth with a lifetime best, tying the sixth-fastest time in school history at (7.19), securing first-team All-America for the first time in her career. It was the highest finish for a Nole since 2019 when Ka'Tia Seymour placed third.

"Spectacular race for Shenese," Braman said. "Top five in her first ever National Championship. She saved her best races for the championship season. Really proud of her performance and development."

The 19th ranked men's team tied for 15th place with 14 points.

"We've finished in the top 15 two years in a row for the men's side," added Braman. "That's big for a program that doesn't have an indoor facility. I thought we competed hard during postseason, but we need to take that next big step during the outdoor season to be one of the top four teams to return to the podium. We've had success in recent years to do that."

Curtis Williams won the long jump with a measurement of 7.56m. Jaiden Rollins followed in third at 7.05m.

"Curtis was jumping really well," added Braman. "He had a couple of big fouls that would've approached his lifetime best, but he got the win, and his jump will easily be an NCAA Regional mark of 6.13m."

Tori Caroll secured fifth in the women's long jump, finishing with a mark of 5.97m. Skyler Reynolds followed Caroll in seventh at 5.83m. Adina Jackson rounded out the event in 14th at 5.49m.

Three Noles Land on FSU All-Time Top Ten List.
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Florida State outdoor track and field team members Suus Altorf, Tyra Wilson and Tyson Williams turned in program all-time top 10 performances at the Crimson Tide Invite on Saturday.

Altorf placed third in the women's 1,500-meter run, clocking a lifetime best at 4:13.09, which is the seventh-fastest time in FSU history. Wilson won the women's 400 hurdles, running her best time at 57.03. Her performance ranks seventh in program history.

Williams earned a spot in postseason action in the men's 110 hurdles, placing second with the eighth-fastest time in FSU history at 13.66.

"Tremendous effort by the women and men today," said associate head coach Matt Kane. "We had some top 10 all-time marks and top 10 NCAA marks, which is exciting. They came prepared to compete today and that showed with a lot of wins as well. Several people to highlight were Suus, Tyra, Dajaz (DeFrand) and one close to my heart with a huge personal best and regional mark was Tyson Williams."

Including Wilson, the Seminoles secured five event wins on the day.

The men's 4x100 relay team stole the show by turning in the third-fastest time in the nation at 39.06 behind Keshaun Black, Ismael Kone, Neo Moesbi and Tyler Azcano for the win.

"Today as a whole I felt like it was a productive day," associate men's head coach Rick Argo said. "The hurdle crew ran well today, but the highlight for the day was the 4x100. The goal was always to execute getting the baton around the track. We accomplished that and now we can clean up some technicalities in our execution to be better next week."

Mosebi took home his second win of the season in the 100m dash with a time of 10.36. Kone followed in ninth at 10.57, adding NCAA and ACC Championship qualifying marks. Guinove Joanus (10.65) and Azcano (10.72) rounded out the event for the Noles, also punching their tickets to postseason action.

Joanus added a 12th-place finish in the 200, clocking 21.20 and Jaden Francis placed fifth in the 800 at 2:10.74.

Andre Korbmacher followed Williams in the 110 hurdles, finishing third at 13.72.

Shenese Walker won the women's 200, establishing a career best and postseason time of 23.20. Kaniya Johnson followed in second with a lifetime best and ACC standard time of 23.62.

Alexandra Webster won the women's 100 hurdle, establishing a season best of 13.36. Dajaz DeFrand won the 100m dash with a time of 11.14. Liana Tyson followed in third with a career best of 11.53.

Skyler Reynolds competed in the long jump, placing third with a mark of 5.85m. Adina Jackson followed in ninth at 5.67m.

Ava Klein joined Wilson in the 400 hurdles field, placing fifth with a time of 59.98.

The 4x100 relay team placed second behind Liana Tyson, Dajaz DeFrand, Johnson, and Walker.

"All in all, we accomplished a few things we set out to do," Argo added. "We now prepare for the Tom Jones Invitational with the goal of continued progress."

Williams qualified for his first nationals in the 110-meter hurdles, placing seventh with a lifetime best and fifth-fastest time in FSU history at 13.53.

"Tyson was one of the big highlights of the day claiming his spot with a lifetime best," said FSU track and field head coach Bob Braman.

Davis, who qualified in the long jump on Wednesday, placed seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 16.15m (53-0). Davis will compete in his third outdoor nationals after collecting nine All-American honors in both indoor and outdoor since 2021.

Tatham followed in 12th with a mark of 15.67m (51-8½), advancing to Eugene for the first time in his career.

"Jeremiah was all business today getting his necessary qualifying mark on the first jump, "Braman added. "Kyvon came in clutch in his third jump in the triple jump for a lifetime best."

Mullarkey concluded competition for the Seminoles in the 5,000, placing fifth with a time of 13:52.62. Mullarkey qualified for his second outdoor nationals after earning All-American honors in 2023 in cross country, as well as second-team accolades in indoor in 2024.

"David handled his race in controlled business as well," said Braman.

Ismael Kone opened in the 100 (10.22), placing 19th and closed out his evening in the 200, placing 19th at 20.74.

Andre Korbmacher competed alongside Williams, placing 16th with a time of 13.75.

Laquan Ellis placed 32nd in the triple jump with a mark of 15.24m (49-11 1/4). Jayden Louis-Charles followed in 43rd at 14.90m (48-10 3/4).

"We had another really strong day to finish the men's competition," Braman said. "My heart feels for the 4x100 relay team after their disqualification for stepping on the line. The men's squad dealt with diversity all year and fought their way back better than I could've asked. I'm super excited to see the ladies show out tomorrow."

DeFrand, Webster Set Program Records.

May 25, 2025

LEXINGTON, Ky.- The No. 19 Florida State women's outdoor track and field team qualified five student-athletes for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday as Dajaz DeFrand and Alexandra Webster set program records at the NCAA East Preliminaries.

In addition to DeFrand and Webster, Suus Altorf, Tyra Wilson and Shenese Walker will be competing at nationals, which will be held June 5-8 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.

"I couldn't be prouder of our ladies this weekend," FSU head coach Bob Braman said. "We had a lot of great things happen today with several all-time performances. It was a great meet and great set up for nationals."

DeFrand set a new school and ACC record in the 100-meter, establishing a lifetime best at 10.94. DeFrand erased the standard that was set by Edidiong Odiong at 11.05 in 2022. She added 200 to her event list for Eugene after running another best time at 22.34 for third place. Her performance was the second-fastest in school history.

A sophomore, DeFrand will be racing in her second outdoor national meet after collecting five All-American honors between indoor and outdoor.

As the third seed at 12.77 in the 100 hurdles, Webster finished with silver, establishing a program record of 12.70. She erased the mark set by Cortney Jones in 2019 at 12.72.

Wilson advanced in the 400 hurdles, placing third with a lifetime best and second-fastest time in school history at 55.68.

Agnes McTighe competed in the 5,000 36th with a time of 16:36.03.

Walker competed alongside DeFrand in the 100, placing eighth with a career best of 11.09. Walker qualified for her second outdoor nationals after earning All-American honors in 2023.

"Dajaz was world class this weekend," added Braman. "Tyra, Alexandra and Shenese had phenomenal races as well."

Altorf qualified for her first nationals in the 1,500, placing 12th with a lifetime best and fourth-fastest time in FSU history at 4:10.13.

Davis Wins NCAA Silver.

June 5, 2024

EUGENE, Ore. - The 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships opened on Wednesday at Hayward Field with Florida State student-athlete Jeremiah Davis winning silver in the men's long jump.

Davis secured his second career NCAA runner-up finish in the event with a season best of 8.07m (26-5 2/4), capturing his third consecutive outdoor first-team All-American honors.

"I'm really proud of Jeremiah," said FSU track and field head coach Bob Braman. "He's been dominating the field and was runner-up at Hayward two years ago as well. "I'm hoping the jumping gods shine on him in his final collegiate jump competition on Friday. He's a true warrior."

In addition to Davis, Jordan Turner placed 16th with a mark of 7.52m (24-8 1/4). Curtis Williams rounded out the event, placing 21st with a mark of 7.33m (24-3/4).

Tyson Williams concluded his season in the 110-meter hurdles, placing 17th with a time of 13.66.

"Really strong race for Tyson," added Braman. "He nearly missed second team All-American by two one-thousandths of a second."

The men's team currently stands in fifth place with eight points.

DeFrand, Webster Qualify for NCAA Finals.

June 7, 2024

EUGENE, Ore. - The No.20 Florida State women's outdoor track and field began the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday at Hayward Field with Alexandra Webster and Dajaz DeFrand advancing to finals on Saturday.

Webster clocked the first automatic qualifying time for the Noles in the 100-meter hurdles, placing fifth at 12.71.

"That was truly a gusty race for Alexandra," said FSU track and field head coach Bob Braman. "Ended up fifth-fastest overall and was only one-hundredth of a second off her lifetime best."

DeFrand and Shenese Walker both earned second-team All-American honors in the 100-meter, with DeFrand leading the Noles in 12th place with a time of 11.19. Walker followed in 13th at 11.23.

"One and five one-hundredth seconds out of the final," said Braman. "Both second team All-Americans but I know they wanted more."

Suus Altorf concluded her season in the 1,500, placing 18th with a time of 4:12.74.

"Great season for Suus, especially being the fourth fastest all-time for the Noles during the championship season," added Braman.

Tyra Wilson competed in the 400 hurdles, placing 18th with a time of 57.57.

DeFrand concluded her evening in the 200, advancing to Saturday's final with the ninth overall seed at 22.71.

"Dajaz had one of the fastest 200 and she will be going to battle in the final on Saturday," Braman added.
