Program-Record Four Seminoles Make All-ACC Men's Golf Team. May 11, 2023 TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State Men's Golf team established a
program record on Thursday as four Seminoles in Cole Anderson, Jack Bigham, Brett Roberts and Frederik Kjettrup were selected to the All-ACC Team, announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Florida State tied North Carolina for the most selections on this year's team. Roberts and Kjettrup each repeat as all-conference honorees, while Anderson and freshman Bigham earn the feat for the
first time. Anderson, a redshirt junior from Camden, Maine, has enjoyed a tremendous year. He leads Florida State with a -1.10 average vs. par and a team-leading 24 rounds at par or better. At the
Lewis Chitengwa Memorial in Charlottesville on April 11, Anderson co-won for the first time in his collegiate career after carding an 11-under 202. He has six Top 10 finishes in the 2022-23 academic
year, including an eye-opening 15-under 195 at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate on Sept. 9-11. Roberts owns 12 rounds in the 60s this year and is third on the Seminoles with a 70.37 scoring average.
The Coral Springs, Fla., native has five Top 10 finishes including a third-place showing at the Jackson Stephens Cup in the fall season. As last year's NCAA West Palm Beach Regional champion, Roberts
looks to repeat as the Seminoles gear up for the upcoming Morgan Hill Regional in California on May 15-17. Kjettrup gets his second All-ACC Team selection after recording a -1.07 vs. par showing so
far this year. The Denmark native is leading FSU with a 70.15 scoring average and is also the Seminoles' leader with 15 rounds in the 60s. He recorded one of the most impressive feats by a Seminole
after carding an 18-under to win the Watersound Invitational, the lowest three-round score vs. par in school history. Bigham has been a huge spark in the FSU lineup this year and is a major reason
why the Seminoles earned a No. 2 seed in their NCAA Regional. The St. Albans, England, native owns a 70.95 scoring average and has finished 18th or better in all six tournaments he's completed this
year. He is the sixth Seminole to make the All-ACC Team as a freshman, joining Brooks Koepka (2009), Hank Lebioda (2013), Jack Maguire (2014), John Pak (2018) and Roberts (2021). ACC Player of
the Year: David Ford, North Carolina 2023 All-ACC Men's Golf
Team *ACC Individual Champion June 6, 2023 TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State Men's Golf Team, which tied for third at the 2023 NCAA Men's Golf Championships, established a program record on
Tuesday morning when four members were named Division I PING All-Americans. Junior Brett Roberts (Second Team), redshirt junior Cole Anderson (Third Team), junior Frederik Kjettrup (Honorable
Mention) and freshman Luke Clanton (Honorable Mention) were each recognized by the Golf Coaches Association of America. The four selections eclipse the previous school records of three in 2015 and
2021. The record also coincides with FSU breaking a new mark with four All-ACC selections in 2023, which were Anderson, Kjettrup, Roberts and freshman Jack Bigham. Roberts continued his
outstanding career with arguably his best season yet, shooting a career-low 70.59 and -0.62 average vs. par. The Coral Springs, Fla., native tied for seventh during the four rounds of stroke play at
the NCAA Championships in Scottsdale, Ariz., and placed in the Top 10 in six of his 12 tournaments played in the 2022-23 academic year. Roberts becomes just the third three-time All-American in FSU
men's golf history, joining Nolan Henke (1985, 1986, 1987) and John Pak (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021). Anderson etches his name as one of the 38 All-Americans in program history after a career year
earning third-team honors. The Camden, Maine, native shot a career-low 70.62 scoring average along with a -0.59 average vs. par, along with winning his first collegiate tournament at the Lewis
Chitengwa Memorial. Anderson led the Seminoles with 27 rounds at par or less and was one of three on the team with double-digit rounds in the 60s (10). Kjettrup picked up his second straight
honorable mention All-America honor after helping the Seminoles to the NCAA Championships Match Play Semifinals. The Denmark native recorded a 70.94 scoring average and led FSU with 16 rounds recorded
in the 60s. He won the Watersound Invitational earlier this season against a very competitive field. Clanton had an enormous late-season run to pick up honorable mention All-America honors as well.
The native of Hialeah, Fla., won the NCAA Morgan Hill Regional at The Institute Golf Club in Calfornia, the first FSU freshman to ever win an NCAA Regional. He entered the NCAA Championships with nine
straight rounds at par or less, and picked up the clinching win in the NCAA Match Play Quarterfinals when he defeated his opponent from Illinois, 1UP. Florida State Men's Golf is expected to bring
back its entire core that guided the program to its furthest point in the NCAA postseason since 2010. Division I PING All-America Teams Second Team Third Team Honorable
Mention June 15, 2023 by Stephen Stone
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Four members of the Florida State Men's Golf Team in Cole Anderson, Brett Roberts, Frederik Kjettrup and Jack Bigham were selected as Golfweek All-Americans, announced by the
notable publication that has served readers for six decades. Anderson and Roberts were each honored as Second-Team All-Americans, while Kjettrup and Bigham earned honorable-mention honors. Bigham,
who finished his freshman year, becomes the 38th All-American in program history. The Seminoles tied for their best finish in program history in 2023 when they reached the NCAA Semifinals of Match
Play and tied for third overall at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. FSU ranked seventh at the end of the year in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings. Anderson (18th), Roberts (20th), Kjettrup
(31st) and Bigham (45th) all ranked in the Top 45 of the final Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings, making Florida State one of three programs (Vanderbilt, North Carolina) to have four golfers placed in that
range. Anderson's Second-Team All-America award is his best yet, eclipsing his Third-Team All-America honor he received from the Golf Coaches Association of America a few weeks ago. His career year
includes a 70.62 scoring average that ranks ninth for a single season in program history. The Camden, Maine, native owns a 71.90 career scoring average that also ranks ninth overall at FSU. Roberts
earns consecutive Second-Team All-America honors after a tremendous junior year. The Coral Springs, Fla., native produced a 70.51 scoring average this season for what is the eighth-lowest at FSU,
earning six Top 10 finishes in 12 tournaments played this year. Kjettrup, who just recently played at the Arnold Palmer Cup along with Anderson, was another key aspect to FSU's historic season. The
Aabybro, Denmark, native had one of the best wins of the season at the Watersound Invitational, which included eight teams in the Golfstat Top 40 among an 11-team field. Bigham caps his fine year
with his first All-America honor as a freshman. The native of Saint Albans, England, had three Top 10 finishes in nine tournaments played and was strong in both postseason events, helping FSU advance
at the NCAA Morgan Hill Regional and reach match play at the NCAA Championships. GOLFWEEK ALL-AMERICANS Second Team Third Team Honorable Mention

Cole Anderson Fires Career-Low 65 in Scottsdale.
September 9, 2022
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - No. 11 Florida State Men's Golf was guided by the strong play of redshirt junior Cole Anderson in Friday's opening round at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate. The Camden, Maine, native recorded a career low 65 (5-under) to help the Seminoles to a fifth-place start (10-under) at the Mirabel Club.
"Cole Anderson is another player who has had a really nice summer and has been looking forward to this season," FSU Head Coach Trey Jones said. "To lead the team with a 65 in round one...I'm looking forward to seeing how Cole backs that up. He keeps getting better and better."
Sophomore Michael Mays was also a factor in the first round of the fall season, shooting a 3-under 67 while junior All-American Brett Roberts also shot the same score.
"I'm really proud of Michael Mays today for shooting 67," Jones said. "He's playing well and has worked really hard on his game over the summer. He told me he would come back in the fall a different player and it looks like a lot of his hard work is paying off.
"Brett did what Brett does. He played another solid round today with a 67. This is where I think we will see Brett really step up and contend for these golf tournaments down the stretch. Today was a good start for him to be able to do that."
The Seminoles are 12 strokes behind tournament leader Auburn (22-under) with two rounds to play. Oregon (12-under) is in second place followed by Washington (11-under), Tennessee (11-under) and FSU.
Anderson went bogey free in the opening round while recording five birdies. He had a strong stretch of three straight holes with birdies on holes 15-17, with two being par 4 holes and another a par 5. Anderson is tied for seventh on a day where several players went low, punctuated by Auburn's Ryan Eshleman who leads the Maui Jim Intercollegiate at 10-under.
Freshman Jack Bigham is in contention at the Maui Jim Individual played at Desert Mountain, carding a 5-under 67 in his Seminole debut. Bigham is tied for fifth in the individual tournament.
Sophomore Patrick McCann is tied for 13th in the individual tournament at 2-under (70), while junior Gray Albright is tied for 19th with an even par 72.
"I'm looking forward to seeing how the guys come out tomorrow. I thought today would be the tougher day for them just getting the season started," Jones said.
Of Florida State's eight golfers on Friday, five finished under par in the desert golf
conditions of Scottsdale.
September 10, 2022
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - The 11th-ranked Florida State Men's Golf team was even more impressive on Saturday in its second round of play at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate. The Seminoles recorded their lowest single-round aggregate score in program history at 261.
Florida State's 19-under single-round score vs. par is tied for the third lowest in program history, and marks the lowest since also shooting 19-under in the final round of the 2015 Seminole Intercollegiate.
"Today was a very good round for our team from a scoring standpoint, but I'm more proud than anything about the way they hung in there," FSU Head Coach Trey Jones said. "It was a little bit of everything for everybody where it wasn't that great of a start for the most part."
The Seminoles have put themselves within striking distance of tournament leader Auburn (34-under) heading into Sunday's final round. Arizona State is in second place (32-under) followed by FSU in sole possession of third place at 29-under.
"We have an opportunity to win a golf tournament tomorrow," Jones said. "We're going to learn a lot about our team. These guys are going to fight. They're going to come out ready to play. However we finish, I know one thing - they're going to give it their all throughout the day. If we have a chance to win the golf tournament late, then I like these guys coming down the stretch."
Four Seminoles recorded rounds in the 60s on Saturday, including Cole Anderson (64), Brett Roberts (65), Frederik Kjettrup (66) and Luke Clanton (66).
Redshirt junior Anderson continued his tremendous play by bettering his career low round on Friday with a 64 on Saturday. The Camden, Maine, native carded five birdies and added an eagle on the fifth hole, a par-4, 307-yard hole.
Anderson is tied for third at 11-under (65-64), just two strokes off the lead held by Tennessee's Caleb Surratt.
Roberts' 65 is also his career low, recording an astonishing eight birdies which included four straight on the front nine and three consecutive to end his round. He is tied for ninth at 8-under (67-65).
"Brett birded four out of the first five holes, then makes three bogeys in a row. Then he turns around and birdies his last three holes. Once again a great bounce back. Some maturity there and some toughness that will carry us a long way," Jones added.
Clanton, in his just his second round as a Seminole, delivered a 4-under 66 and moves to 4-over on the leaderboard. He registered four birdies and no bogeys, coming back strong on Saturday afternoon.
"Luke had a tough day to start his career, and to come out today and shoot a 66 shows a lot from him," Jones said.
Kjettrup shot a 31 on the back nine at the Mirabel Club to finish with a 4-under 66. He is tied for 35th at 3-under.
At the Maui Jim Individual, freshman Jack Bigham celebrated his birthday with a fine performance in his second and third rounds on Saturday. Bigham shot a final-round 68 and tied for fifth in the tournament with a 4-under 208.
Patrick
McCann tied for seventh in the individual tournament at 7-under.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - The No. 11 Florida State Men's Golf team finished third in the Maui Jim Intercollegiate after shooting an immaculate 6-under par 274 on Sunday, totaling 35-under for the tournament. Florida State's three-round score of 805 is the lowest in program history, shattering the previous record of 823 on March 4, 2014, at the USF Invitational.
All five Seminoles played exceptional over the course of the weekend and nearly pulled off a victory. Redshirt Junior Cole Anderson secured the individual runner-up finish, recording a 4-under par 66 in his final round to total 15-under (65-64-66) for the three-day tournament.
Anderson's second-place finish is the best of his career and marks his third Top six finish as a Seminole.
Auburn was the team tournament champion with a three-day total of 45-under par, shooting 11-under in the final round.
Caleb Surratt from Tennessee took home the individual champion title at 18-under.
Anderson played lights-out in the final round of the Maui Jim Intercollegiate. In the three-day tournament, he had four flawless nines without a single bogey. He was one of the top-scoring players out of the 90-player field on par 4's, averaging a 3.78 (8-under).
He finished strong on his last day in Arizona, recording five birdies in his final round with three of them on the back-nine.
Junior Brett Roberts led the Seminoles in birdies, recording 17 for the entirety of the tournament, along with an eagle on his starting hole of the final round. He simultaneously had the best scoring average on par 3's for the team, averaging a 2.75 (-3).
Roberts tied for 13th, totaling 8-under par (67-65-70) for the tournament after an even-par score in the third round.
Junior Frederik Kjettrup once again fought back in the home stretch of the final round. After starting off the back-nine 3-over par, he quickly captured back-to-back birdies and finished the round with an even-par 70.
Kjettup's three-day, three-under par (71-66-70) finish tied him for 31st.
Sophomore Michael Mays enjoyed a bogey-free front-nine in the final round. His three birdies for the day led to an improved third round of 1-over. Mays led the Florida State team in pars, totaling 37 for all three days.
Mays finished the tournament at 1-over par (67-73-71) and tied for 57th.
Luke Clanton officially has his first tournament as a Seminole under wraps, delivering an amazing performance in his third round. The freshman shot a 2-under 68, capturing six birdies for the day with two back-to-back to close out his front-nine.

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. - A major championship course like Olympia Fields Country Club put its golfers to the test in the first round of the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational on Friday. No. 11 Florida State Men's Golf shot a 9-over 289 in tying for eighth place out of 15 schools.
Only three schools shot under par in the opening round, including tournament leader Stanford (10-under), host Illinois (9-under) and Florida (3-under).
The Seminoles were led by the scoring of junior trio Cole Anderson (2-over), Frederik Kjettrup (2-over) and Brett Roberts (2-over). All three veterans are tied for 30th in one of the nation's most competitive collegiate golf fields.
Birdie chances were of immense difficulty on Friday, but Anderson's round was highlighted by consecutive birdies on the 11th and 12th holes, both par 4s. Roberts added two birdies to his round, while Kjettrup recorded three including his first hole on the 10th where he buried the par-4, 444-yarder under par.
Freshman Luke Clanton is tied for 43rd after carding a 3-over in his first round. He took advantage of the two par 5 holes offered on the course, recording a birdie on each. His 2-under par 5 scoring is tied for the lowest of any golfer so far.
Fellow freshman Jack Bigham is tied
for 61st at 6-over.
September 17, 2022
OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. - Freshman Luke Clanton carded an even-par 70 in his second round at Olympia Fields, leading No. 11 Florida State Men's Golf in day two of the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational.
Clanton posted a 33 on what was a clean front nine that included two birdies, then followed with a 37 on the back nine. Clanton is tied for 27th at 3-over (73-70), shaving three strokes off Friday's score.
The Seminoles posted a 6-over team score in the second round, improving from the first round. Florida State is tied for eighth overall. Stanford leads the field at 9-under.
Redshirt junior Cole Anderson carded a 1-over 71 on Saturday and is tied for 19th at 3-over (72-71) for the tournament. He recorded three birdies in the second round.
Junior Brett Roberts recorded his second straight round with a 2-over 72, and is tied for 28th at 4-over (72-72). He recorded three bogeys on his front nine, but settled down on the back with a 34 that featured a birdie on the par-4, 396-yard 11th and all pars.

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. - No. 14 Florida State Men's Golf finished the first round of the Folds of Honor Collegiate as the only team under par, shooting 1-under on a cold and windy day at American Dunes Golf Club in Grand Haven, Mich.
"I saw some toughness," FSU Head Coach Trey Jones said. "Our guys are growing up. It's an honor to be here at this tournament. To see our guys come out here and compete and show some toughness is a really good thing."
Three Seminoles ended the first day in the Top 5 on the leaderboard. Junior Brett Roberts is tied for second after carding a 2-under 70, recording six birdies in the process. He began the back nine with a 36 and then got hotter as the round went on, shooting a 34 on the front nine.
"Brett's an All-American. He's one of the top players in the country," Jones said. "He's just getting better and better. Once again there's an example of a player from Miami who as a freshman would not have embraced this. It shows his growth to walk down and accept it and say ‘Hey this is the way it's going to be' and playing some great golf."
Redshirt junior Cole Anderson and freshman Luke Clanton are each tied fourth after shooting 1-under 71s in the opening round. Anderson continues his strong play, picking up two birdies to just one bogey. Clanton continues to come of age, ending his round with three birdies in his last four holes.
Anderson is among the tournament leaders shooting 1-under on par 4 holes, while Roberts is at the top of the player leaderboard in par 3 scoring (1-under) and par 5 scoring (3-under).
Liberty is in second place at 2-over, followed by Oregon State (4-over), Illinois (4-over) and Arizona (5-over) in the Top 5.
Junior Gray Albright recorded a 3-over 75 and is tied for 30th, while Michael Mays shot a 5-over 77 and is tied for 45th.
Jones and the Seminoles have already enjoyed the true meaning of the tournament, which honors Military members and first responders.
"To be associated with this golf club and to be associated with the Folds of Honor and to
have any kind of pull in this is an honor," Jones added. "Part of our jobs as coaches is to put our players in situations where they can learn. They can develop and they can mature, and they get it
all here."

Included in Kjettrup's round was an incredible score of 29 on the front nine.
The Seminoles finished fifth overall and moved up another spot on the leaderboard on Tuesday, shooting 3-under on the day and 8-over for the tournament. No. 1-ranked Vanderbilt ran away with the victory, shooting 18-under while second-place Ole Miss shot 6-under.

Men's Golf Dominant So Far at Seminole Intercollegiate.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Eighth-ranked Florida State Men's Golf has been playing like the top-ranked team at the Seminole Intercollegiate, holding a 22-shot lead through nearly two rounds of play on Monday at the Seminole Legacy Golf Club.
Weather conditions forced a later start to Monday's opening round, but it didn't dampen the spirits of the hot-shooting Seminoles. Florida State is at 19-under near the completion of the second round, which was suspended due to darkness.
No. 24 Ole Miss remains in second place along with North Alabama at 3-over apiece.
Junior left-handed golfer Gray Albright holds the overall lead at 7-under as he awaits two more holes to play in his second round. The Ocala, Fla., native recorded the best round of his FSU career to open Monday, shooting a 3-under 69. He's on pace to better that score in his second round as he is currently 4-under in the round.
Albright's score does not count toward FSU's team score as he is playing as an individual.
Freshman Luke Clanton is tied for second at 6-under, using an opening-round 69 to jumpstart his day. His first round consisted of three birdies and 15 pars, while his second round includes five birdies with three holes left to play.
Junior Frederik Kjettrup, the Watersound Invitational champion, lurks in fourth place at 5-under. He was also bolstered by an opening-round 69.
Freshman Jack Bigham has been impressive so far, shooting 4-under overall with three holes remaining in the second round.
Six Seminoles surround the Top 10 of the leaderboard, including Brett Roberts (1-under) in ninth place and Cole Anderson (even) tied for 10th.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - In one of the most dominant team performances in recent memory, the eighth-ranked Florida State Men's Golf team won the Seminole Intercollegiate by 38 shots on Tuesday afternoon. The Seminoles finished 14-under on a chillier and windy day at the Seminole Legacy Golf Club.
The day was especially poetic for junior Gray Albright, who won his first collegiate tournament at 10-under overall, including an impressive 3-under 69 in his final round. Finishing up on the 17th hole due to a shot-gun start, the Ocala native sealed the deal with consecutive birdies on holes 15 and 16 before recording a par on 17.
Albright took advantage of the Seminole Legacy Golf Club's par 5 holes, shooting 6-under overall on the longest holes of the tournament.
Prior to the start of the tournament, Albright had not recorded a round in the 60s, yet managed to shoot all three rounds under 70 this week. He finished his back nine with a 34, winning the tournament by five shots over runner-ups Frederik Kjettrup and Luke Clanton of FSU.
Incredibly, six out of the Top 10 finishers suited up for the Garnet and Gold. Besides Albright, Kjettrup and Clanton, junior Brett Roberts shot 1-under overall to place fifth. Freshman Jack Bigham tied for sixth at even par while redshirt junior Cole Anderson finished in eighth at 2-over.
North Alabama placed second at 24-over, while 24th-ranked Ole Miss came in third at 27-over.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The No. 7 Florida State Men's Golf team made history in record-tying fashion on Tuesday, tying a program record by shooting 41-under part as it won the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial held at Birdwood Golf Course in Charlottesville, Va.
The 41-under team score matches the program low set in 2014 at the USF Invitational. FSU's three-round aggregate score of 811 (264-274-273) is the second-lowest in school history. The same team established a low of 805 at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate this past fall.
Redshirt junior Cole Anderson earned his first collegiate win at the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial, earning the honor of co-champion after tying Virginia's Ben James at 11-under. Anderson now has six Top 10 finishes this year and gets his second in the Top five.
Prior to Tuesday's win, Anderson's previous best finish was placing second in the season-opening Maui Jim Intercollegiate on Sept. 11, 2022. In his final round, the Camden, Maine, native shot a 4-under 67 which included five birdies. Anderson is currently ranked 12th overall according to the Golfstat player rankings.
Freshman Luke Clanton received a confidence boost after FSU's trip to Charlottesville, tying for third overall by shooting 9-under (66-68-70). Clanton's birdie on the 18th hole gave the Seminoles their record-tying 41-under mark. He finished with four birdies in his final round.
The trio of Jack Bigham, Brett Roberts and Frederik Kjettrup each finished at 7-under and tied for sixth overall. The feat gave the Seminoles all five golfers in the Top six of the tournament. April 23, 2023
PINEHURST, N.C. - The No. 6-ranked Florida State Men's Golf team ended its ACC Championship run on Sunday afternoon, placing fifth in the stroke-play portion of the tournament.
The Seminoles jockeyed back-and-forth with Virginia and Duke for one of the coveted Top four spots needed to clinch an appearance in the match play semifinals. Despite the heroics of freshman Luke Clanton, who birdied four of his last five holes in what was a close race down the stretch, FSU fell two strokes outside the cut-off as it shot 2-under (284-288-290) for the tournament.
Georgia Tech (-26) clinched the top seed for the match play semifinals, while Wake Forest came in second place (-10). Virginia (-4) and Duke (-4) tied at third.
With five total holes remaining for the Seminoles and sitting two strokes outside of a Top-4 position, Clanton birdied the par-5, 510-yard 18th hole to finish with a 4-under 68 in his final round. He tied for ninth in the tournament field and was FSU's top performer overall.
Clanton's clutch birdie left FSU at 3-under and just one stroke outside the cut line. However, the Seminoles were unable to cash in on their remaining holes.
Fellow freshman Jack Bigham tied for 16th after shooting even par (71-72-73) overall. Junior Brett Roberts went 1-over for the tournament (72-73-72), while junior Frederik Kjettrup tied for 28th at 3-over (69-73-77).

Florida State Men's Golf in Second Place at NCAA Morgan Hill Regional.
May 15, 2023
MORGAN HILL, Calif. - The second-seeded Florida State Men's Golf team had a solid showing in its first round of the NCAA Morgan Hill Regional, ending the day in second place at 7-under. The Seminoles played at the ultra-private Institute Golf Club nearby San Jose.
Junior Frederik Kjettrup jumpstarted Florida State by tying his career low in the NCAA postseason with a first-round 68. His 4-under score ties him for second on the leaderboard, behind only Missouri's Alfons Bondesson who has a 5-under 67.
The Seminoles trail only tournament leader Mississippi State, who is 12-under so far. Top-seeded Pepperdine is in third place at 4-under, followed by Charlotte and Baylor each at 3-under for the fourth and fifth spots. The Top 5 teams through three rounds advance to the NCAA Championship Finals that take place in Scottsdale, Ariz., next week.
Kjettrup started with an even-par 36 on the front nine, but picked up steam on the back when he shot a 32. His round was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5, 511-yard 14th hole.
"I didn't play too well on the first couple holes but kept it going and pulled some putts for par," Kjettrup said following the first round. "Then I started playing better and things started going my way on the back nine. That eagle on 14 helped. I pretty much hit it to two feet for a tap-in eagle. I started hitting better (over the back nine) and got more confident over the ball."
Kjettrup carded four holes under par on the back nine, including a birdie on the par-3 17th hole. His score of 68 ties his low in the postseason set during his freshman season in the third round of the NCAA Regional held at the Seminole Legacy Golf Club in Tallahassee.
Freshman Luke Clanton fired a 2-under 70 to tie for ninth in the opening round. He began with an impressive 33 on the front nine and continued to play well on the back nine. His only blemish was back-to-back bogeys to end his round on 17 and 18.
Junior Brett Roberts, who won the NCAA West Palm Beach Regional last year, was steady with a 1-under 71. Roberts got stronger as the round went on, using a 34 on the back nine which included consecutive birdies on holes 14 and 15. Roberts recorded his sixth round under par in 13 career rounds played in an NCAA Regional or Final.
Freshman Jack Bigham was also a counting score with an even par 72. Redshirt junior Cole Anderson shot a 1-over 73.
May 16, 2023
MORGAN HILL, Calif. - An unforgiving second round at the Institute Golf Club had all 13 teams scrambling to the finish line, but the second-seeded Florida State Men's Golf team managed to hold up just fine on Tuesday afternoon. The Seminoles shot 8-over in their second round and are 1-over for the tournament, just three shots off the lead in second place.
Mississippi State remains in first place at 2-under, while the Seminoles sit nearby in second place (+1). Baylor is not far off in third place at 3-over, followed by Pepperdine (+6) and BYU (+8) to round out the Top 5.
Freshman Luke Clanton is tied atop the player leaderboard at 4-under (70-70), shooting 2-under for the second straight round. Clanton is tied with NC State's Maximilian Steinlechner.
The Hialeah, Fla., native was one of five golfers to shoot under par on Tuesday, with all 13 teams shooting above par for the day. Baylor carded the best score of any team in the second round at 6-over.
Clanton's round included three birdies and one bogey along with 14 pars in what was one of the steadier performances of the day. His eight total birdies through the first two rounds is tied for the second most in the field, while his 1-under total on the par 3 holes makes him one of six golfers shooting under par on the short holes.
Aiding the Seminoles greatly on Tuesday was redshirt junior Cole Anderson, who went even par and is tied for 13th overall at 1-over (73-72). Anderson's round was punctuated by two birdies on his front nine.
Brett Roberts (+4), Frederik Kjettrup (+1) and Jack Bigham (+5) each recorded 77s in the second round.
May 17, 2023
MORGAN HILL, Calif. - Luke Clanton of Florida State Men's Golf made program history on Wednesday, becoming the first Seminole freshman to win an NCAA Regional. His consistent 6-under performance (70-70-70) guided FSU to its third consecutive NCAA Championship appearance as it finished in third place at the challenging Morgan Hill Regional in California.
In a field of 77 golfers, Clanton was one of just six that finished under par. He joins teammate Brett Roberts as Noles whom have won back-to-back regionals, with Roberts winning the NCAA West Palm Beach Regional last year.
Florida State finished at 7-over (281-296-294) for the regional at Institute Golf Club, earning one of the five spots to advance to next week's NCAA Men's Golf Championship at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. FSU begins its title pursuit next Friday, May 26.
Clanton's final round included three birdies to just one bogey, with two of his birdies coming down the stretch on the back nine. He finished two strokes ahead of second-place Riley Lewis (Loyola Marymount) and Maximilian Steinlechner (NC State).
Scores flew up and down all week in what was an enigmatic regional experience for many, but Clanton was a hallmark of consistency. He recorded rounds of 2-under on each day, an impressive feat with the Morgan Hill Regional playing as one of the hardest sites this week in men's collegiate golf.
Clanton was at his best on par 3 and par 4 holes. He shot 2-under collectively on the course's par 3s to tie for the lowest output of any golfer, and finished second at 4-under in par 4 scoring.
Mississippi State (-1) won the Morgan Hill Regional, while BYU (+4), Baylor (+9) and Pepperdine (+11) also advanced as Top 5 finishers along with FSU.
Roberts had a good bounce-back day, shooting a 2-over 74 and tying for 32nd overall at 6-over (71-77-74). Junior Frederik Kjettrup finished at 5-over (68-77-76) to tie for 24th, and freshman Jack Bigham (72-77-74) shot 7-over to tie for 37th.
Cole Anderson also shot 7-over (73-72-78).

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - For the second time in the last three years, the Florida State Men's Golf Team is headed back to match play at the NCAA Championships in Scottsdale, Ariz.
The Seminoles produced an enormous final round in stroke play to clinch the No. 6 seed in Tuesday's match-play quarterfinals, which pits matchups between the final eight teams. FSU went 7-under in Monday's fourth round, finishing 6-over at NCAAs (284-287-282-273).
The Seminoles will go head-to-head against Illinois in Tuesday's quarterfinals.
Junior Brett Roberts was virtually flawless in Monday's fourth round, executing with a 3-under 67 and finishing stroke play at 1-under overall (69-73-70-67) to tie for seventh place. As the last Seminole to finish his round, he hit big shots down the stretch, including a long birdie putt on the eighth and an accurate approach shot to finish up his round on the ninth.

Florida State reaches the match-play portion of the NCAA Championships for the third time overall, doing it in 2010 as well as 2021.

Historic Season Comes to a Close for Florida State Men's Golf.
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - After becoming just the second Florida State team ever to reach the NCAA Match Play Semifinals, the seventh-seeded men's golf team ended its run on Tuesday evening as it fell to Florida, 2-3, at the NCAA Championships at Grayhawk Golf Club.
The Seminoles were bolstered by a 3-2 win earlier in the day against Illinois in the NCAA Match Play Quarterfinals. Freshman Luke Clanton's 1UP win against the Illini put FSU over the top as it advanced to its first semifinal since 2010.
Against Florida, FSU held a 2-0 lead after wins by freshman Jack Bigham (6&5) and junior Frederik Kjettrup (3&1). It also held leads in its other matches down the stretch, but the Gators clawed back to even it up at 2-2.
The deciding point came down to FSU's Brett Roberts and UF's Ricky Castillo, with the two going 21 holes before Castillo buried a birdie putt to win the match.
Roberts was critical in helping the Seminoles reach the semifinals, as he delivered a 3&2 win earlier in the day against Illinois. Roberts also finished 1-under in stroke play to tie for seventh in the NCAA Championships, including his clinching hole on No. 9 that secured FSU's third bid to NCAA Match Play.
Florida State and Pepperdine entered match play as the only programs to have both their men's and women's teams reach the Final Eight this year. FSU played in the match-play quarterfinals for the second time in three years, also reaching the round when it was the No. 1 overall seed in 2021.
Ranked 18th in the preseason Bushnell/Golfweek Division I Coaches Poll, Florida State's impressive season included two tournament wins and four different individual champions. Clanton became the first FSU freshman ever to win an NCAA Regional when he shot 6-under in Morgan Hill, Calif.
