John Pak Wins Fred Haskins Award. June 1, 2021 SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Florida State Men's Golf senior John Pak has been crowned as the Fred Haskins
Award presented by Stifel winner given to the top player in men's collegiate golf, announced on Tuesday on the GOLF Channel in conjunction with the Fred Haskins Commission. The 2021 Haskins Award
featured the highest voting turnout by players and coaches combined in the award's 50-year history. Pak becomes the first Seminole ever to win The Haskins Award, which is decided based on the
combined vote of players, coaches and selected media. Pak is the ninth winner from the ACC and the first since NC State's Matt Hill won in 2009. "So many great golfers have won this award. Just to
be up there with those guys gives me a lot of confidence," said Pak after receiving the award. "I have a great support system around me at Florida State, and I'm so happy I chose to come here. Having
the coaches around just helping me to get better every single day is what I think helped me have such a great season this year. "Traveling with my friends, teammates and my coaches is something I
will always cherish," continued Pak. "I love my teammates to death. Those are my fondest memories being on this golf team." The other two finalists included Georgia's Davis Thompson and South
Carolina's Ryan Hall. "Stifel has been a proud supporter of the Fred Haskins Award for more than a decade, and we are honored to announce John Pak as this year's award winner," said Ron Kruszewski,
Chairman and CEO of Stifel. "We salute John's achievements both on the golf course and in the classroom during this challenging year, and wish him the best as he continues his journey in golf."
"John is an outstanding individual on and off the course who has excelled under the challenges of this very unconventional golf season, and we are honored to have him join the distinguished class of
Fred Haskins Award presented by Stifel winners," said Brian Stubbs, executive director of the Fred Haskins Commission. "With 2021 being the largest voter turnout in the 51-year history of this award,
on behalf of the Fred Haskins Commission I would like to extend my sincere thank you to all of the players, coaches, sports information directors and members of the college golf media for their
support." Pak's career at FSU has been record shattering. He leaves the program as the school's career leader with a 69.87 stroke average while tying for the record of eight wins alongside
legendary golfer Nolan Henke. Earlier on Tuesday, Pak also earned his second PING First-Team All-America honor, making him the first Seminole to earn first-team honors twice in a career. The
Scotch Plains, N.J., native is also a finalist for the Ben Hogan Award (announced this Friday at Colonial Country Club) as well as The Jack Nicklaus Award (announced this Sunday at The Memorial).
Pak also had the prestige of being the inaugural champion of the PGA TOUR University Class, earning all exemptions to The Korn Ferry Tour for the 2021 season. He is eligible to compete at the BMW
Charity Pro-Am on June 10-13 in Greer, South Carolina. In just 38 tournaments played, Pak also set the FSU record for most Top 10 finishes with 29. He joins only Henke (28) and Christian Raynor
(21) as Seminoles with 20 or more Top 10 finishes in a career. Adding to the numerous impressive feats of Pak's career, he own the top three single-season scoring averages at FSU as he continues
re-writing the record books. Pak's stroke average in 2020 was 69.40, followed by 69.56 in 2019 and 69.71 in 2021. by Stephen
Stone June 3, 2021 TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State men's golfer Brett Roberts has been selected to the five-member Golf Coaches Association of America All-Freshman Team, announced by the
collegiate golf organization. Roberts joins Michael Brennan of Wake Forest, North Carolina's Peter Fountain, Oklahoma State's Bo Jin, and Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award winner Nick
Gabrelcik of North Florida. Roberts, who hails from Coral Springs, Fla., had one of the better freshman campaigns in program history and was a mainstay in the FSU starting lineup. He joined John
Pak and Vincent Norrman as the three Seminoles to participate in all 10 tournaments played, finishing with a 71.68 stroke average, +0.23 vs. par, 17 rounds at par or less and four finishes in the Top
10. In two of the toughest tournaments FSU played this season, Roberts recorded season bests with fifth-place finishes. At The Calusa Cup in Naples, Fla., he carded a 1-under 215 (73-71-71), and
also placed fifth at the NCAA Tallahassee Regional when he shot a 7-under 209 (68-69-72). He also had two tournaments where he tied for 11th, marking six tournaments in the Top 11 this season.
Roberts becomes the third Seminole freshman to earn All-America honors, joining Jack Maguire in 2014 and Pak in 2018. Roberts recorded nine rounds this season that were in the 60s, highlighted by a
season low 67 in three different events. He also executed in match play in 2021, finishing 2-0 in the ACC Championship when he defeated his opponents from North Carolina and Clemson. June 4, 2021 TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State senior men's golfer John Pak secured one of the crown jewels in collegiate golf on Friday afternoon, being announced
the winner of the Ben Hogan Award in a special presentation at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. "I'm so proud for John to be able to win an award like the Ben Hogan Award," FSU Head
Coach Trey Jones said. "This has been a special year to overcome what these guys had to overcome throughout the year. To have all these phenomenal seniors choose to come back to school, there's never
been a more difficult year to win individual awards. John has certainly done that in winning the Ben Hogan Award over two phenomenal people. This is about John and what he's done and how he's
represented Florida State in every single manner, and it is something we all are proud of." Two of collegiate golf's national player of the year honors have been swept by Pak, who also won the Fred
Haskins Award on Tuesday. He is a finalist for the Jack Nicklaus Award as well, which will be announced on Sunday at the Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio, famously Nicklaus' home tournament. Pak
finished the 2021 season as the top-ranked golfer in both Golfweek and Golfstat, symbolizing his phenomenal senior year that included playing against one of the deepest fields in collegiate golf due
to the return of so many seniors. He also finished first in the inaugural PGA TOUR University Class, allowing him to play the rest of the 2021 season on the Korn Ferry Tour. With the Ben Hogan
Award, Pak also was presented an invitation to the 2022 Charles Schwab Challenge on the PGA TOUR. The tournament is typically held every May at Colonial Country Club and recently concluded on May
30. During the Ben Hogan Award ceremony, the three finalists in Pak, Davis Thompson of Georgia and Pierceson Coody of Texas each spoke about their playing experiences, growing up in the game of
golf as well as some other off-golf topics. Pak was once again gracious in talking about his experiences at Florida State and his love for the university, as well as being thankful for how much his
family sacrificed so he could have the resources he needed to excel at the game of golf. On Wednesday, Pak had produced an open letter stating his love for FSU and what his four years in
Tallahassee have meant to him. Pak finished a remarkable 21-1 in his senior season against Golfstat's Top 25 players in tournaments throughout the season, as well as 54-0 vs. players from the Top
26-100. With individual awards still trickling in, the Scotch Plains, N.J., native has already earned several honors this season. He won the ACC Player of the Year and was a PING First-Team
All-American in addition to his two national player of the year honors. June 6, 2021 TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State men's golf senior
John Pak picked up another national player of the year award on Sunday, earning more widespread recognition as the recipient of the 2021 Jack Nicklaus Award presented by True Spec Golf given to the
best player in collegiate golf. The award marks a clean sweep for Pak in three of collegiate golf's biggest honors, as he also won the Fred Haskins Award and the Ben Hogan Award this week. "If
you look at the records of these recipients, each one put together dominating seasons and are very deserving of this honor," Jack Nicklaus said. The Nicklaus Award undoubtedly makes Pak the best
player in collegiate golf in 2021. He is the No. 1 ranked player by both Golfstat and Golfweek, and re-wrote the career record books in his four-year career at Florida State. Earning the Nicklaus
Award is extra special for a Florida State student-athlete considering the great amount of time Nicklaus Design put in to renovating the Seminole Legacy Club. The heralded golf course successfully
hosted a 2021 NCAA Regional and received tremendous reviews from many of the regional's coaches and participants. Due to Nicklaus' family connections to Florida State, his time in Tallahassee spent
working on the re-design and with Pak's recent participation in the Walker Cup, golf's all-time majors leader has gotten to know Pak better over the years. "I've had a chance to spend some time
with John Pak at Florida State," Nicklaus said in a statement. "He's had one of the most decorated collegiate careers in recent history, and I expect him to enjoy success at the next level. As
important, John's a good young man, who represents himself, his university and the game very well." Pak leaves FSU as its all-time leader in low stroke average (69.87), victories (T1st with Nolan
Henke at eight) and Top 10 finishes (29). At the collegiate level, he is the most decorated golfer to don the Garnet and Gold, guiding the Seminoles to a tie-for-fifth finish this year in the NCAA
Quarterfinals, the program's second-best finish ever. The other finalists for the Jack Nicklaus Award at the Division I level included Pierceson Coody (Texas), Noah Goodwin (Southern Methodist),
Ryan Hall (South Carolina) and Davis Thompson (Georgia). Nicklaus, a Big Ten and NCAA Champion at The Ohio State University, helped inspire and create the Jack Nicklaus Award in 1988, and it is now
presented to the National Player of the year in NCAA Divisions I, II and III, as well as NAIA and NJCAA.

Seminoles Start in Fourth at Camp Creek.
January 17, 2021
By Ian Bolger, FSU Sports Information intern
WATERSOUND, Fla. - Senior All-American John Pak helped lead the Florida State Men's Golf team to a good start on the new season. He carded a 3-under 69 on the day and helped put the Seminoles in fourth place after the first round of the Camp Creek Seminole Invitational at Camp Creek Golf Club in Watersound, Fla.
Pak's 3-under ties him for sixth on the player leaderboard, which is only five strokes back from first place Jacob Bridgeman from Clemson. He shot three birdies and didn't shoot anything worse than a par all day.
Despite not being attached to FSU in the tournament, redshirt sophomore Cole Anderson actually had the lowest score by a Seminole, shooting a 5-under 67 to tie for second. It was a very strong start to what looks to be a very promising second season for Anderson.
He made six birdies total in the first round, along with shooting 4-under on the back nine holes.
Redshirt senior Greyson Porter and graduate transfer Vincent Norrman were also contributors to the team's score after recording 1-under 71 and an even-par 72, respectively.
Freshman Brett Roberts had a solid collegiate debut, carding 1-over 73, and senior Conner Futrell also shot the same score. All six FSU golfers are placed in the top 30 on the player leaderboard after the first day of competition.
The Seminoles are fourth in the 10-team field at 3-under (285). The teams that are ahead of FSU on the leaderboard
after the first round include Clemson (-12), Wake Forest (-6), and Duke (-5), with North Carolina (E) right behind the Noles at fifth.

WATERSOUND, Fla. - Graduate transfer Vincent Norrman was the standout player for the Florida State men's golf team at Camp Creek Golf Club on Monday. His effort helped the Seminoles shoot a 9-under 279 in the second round, the low team round of the afternoon at the Camp Creek Seminole Invitational.
The Stockholm, Sweden, native and Georgia Southwestern transfer was able to record a 4-under 68 in the second round and push the Seminoles into a tie for second place (-12) going into Tuesday's final round in Watersound, Fla. FSU trails Wake Forest (-14) by two strokes and is tied with Clemson.
"This has been an interesting week for us coming in. We didn't really know what we had with our team," FSU Head Coach Trey Jones said. "I'm confident in who we had but we didn't really know how it would come together. And we still don't know. It's a new group.
"Vincent Norrman has never hit a shot for Florida State before, as well as Connor Futrell and Brett Roberts. When you start three out of five who have never played for Florida State, you have some uncertainties there. From what I've seen, I've really liked. I liked it before we got here, and I like it now. This team has a lot of guts and talent, and that's a great combination."
Norrman put together another great round that led all Noles on Monday. Shooting five birdies and only one bogey on the day, his 4-under (72-68) score after two rounds puts him tied for third on the player leaderboard.
FSU's aggregate score of 564 (285-279) is the third-lowest two-round team score in program history. It also hasn't had any players shoot worse than 1-over 73 in a round for the second straight day.
Redshirt senior Greyson Porter is another player for the Seminoles who has performed well these past two days. He is the only FSU player to post under par on both rounds this week and currently sits tied for seventh on the leaderboard at 3-under (71-70).
"Senior captain Greyson Porter goes out every day and leads by example. Now he's starting to put some scores up to match that," Jones added.
Seniors John Pak and Connor Futrell had solid rounds today with both of them sitting at 2-under after two rounds. Freshman Brett Roberts also played well after shooting even-par today and is 1-over (73-72) so far in the tournament.
Redshirt sophomore Cole Anderson, an individual-based player that's not attached to FSU in the tournament, also continues to thrive as he carded a 1-over 73 in the second round and 4-under (67-73) over the past two days. He joins Norrman as tied for third overall, trailing only Clemson's Jacob Bridgeman (-14) and North Carolina's Peter Fountain (-8) on the player leaderboard.
All six FSU golfers once again found themselves placed in the top 25 on the leaderboard after the second day of competition, with five of them placing in the top nine spots.

WATERSOUND, Fla. - The Florida State Men's Golf team completed their spring season opener on a high note, winning the second hole of a playoff to emerge as champions of the Camp Creek Seminole Invitational held at Camp Creek Golf Club in Watersound, Fla.
"I've been fortunate at Florida State to have many great team wins and many great days with our golf program here," FSU Head Coach Trey Jones said. "This day ranks right there at the top of the list of regular-season wins. It was such a great thing to see these guys come together and how they played.
"We had five guys finish in the Top nine of the golf tournament. For a field like this, it's really a testament to our balance and depth."
Florida State's playoff win came over Wake Forest, with both teams entering the extra holes knotted at 22-under.
"For us to come out with a playoff win over Wake Forest, another great team, was an unbelievable experience," Jones said. "Our playoff was led by our freshman Brett Roberts who had two great pars, Connor Futrell who had two great pars as well. I'm proud of them and it's fun to see this thing come together."
All five FSU golfers finished within the top nine of the final player leaderboard out of the 60 competing golfers in the tournament. The win marks the 90th tournament victory in program history, including the 12th since 2015.
Senior Connor Futrell had a phenomenal day for the Seminoles in the final round after shooting 5-under 67. He finished with the best score for the Noles over the weekend and tied for third on the player leaderboard after carding 7-under overall (73-69-67).
Futrell's third-place finish at Camp Creek Golf Club tied Mark Power (-7) from Wake Forest and only trailed Jacob Bridgeman (-15) from Clemson and Peter Fountain (-10) from North Carolina. His round on Tuesday, which included six birdies, also tied for the second-lowest score on the day. He tied for the lowest score on par 3 holes in the tournament, averaging 2.75.
"Connor could not have showed me any more than he did," Jones said. "This is a guy who loves being at Florida State, has always been a Seminole, and gave us everything he had on every shot. To see him finish third in a field that is one of the top college tournaments in the country is a testament to his ability."
Senior All-American John Pak and graduate transfer Vincent Norrman completed the tournament with strong performances of their own with both players finishing at 4-under overall and tied for seventh on the player leaderboard. Norrman was the only Seminole golfer in the tournament that didn't finish any of the three rounds played over par (72-68-72).
"John used his experience and used his short game and gutted this one out," Jones added.
Freshman Brett Roberts had his best round of the tournament by recording a 3-under 69 and finished at 2-under overall (71-70-73). Redshirt senior Greyson Porter recorded 1-over 73 on the day and joined Roberts at 2-under overall. Both Roberts and Porter finished tied for ninth in the invitational. Porter wound up tying for the best par 5 scoring average at 4.33.
Redshirt sophomore Cole Anderson, who was an individual-based player not counting toward FSU's team score, shot 3-over 75 in the final round and recorded 1-under (67-73-75) on the weekend. He also led all individual-based players in the tournament and tied for 15th overall.

Florida State Men's Golf Sits at Fourth in Timuquana.
January 25, 2021
PONTE VEDRA, Fla. - After sitting in the bottom half of the field through the first round, Florida State Men's Golf turned the beat around with a superb 14-under showing in the second round at Timuquana Country Club on Monday. FSU is fourth in the Timuquana Collegiate at 14-under (288-274).
"We struggled early on and didn't have a lot of momentum, and this is a precision golf course that requires patience and executing shots," FSU Head Coach Trey Jones said. "I don't feel like we did a good job early in the day of doing that. Once we got the first round behind, we came out and played a really fine second round. For us to be where we want to be, we can't wait for the scorecard change to figure out that we're going to play like we're supposed to play."
"I am proud of the way we fought. I knew we would. The guys left everything out there. We'll go out tomorrow and keep this momentum going that we have. It's nice to know that we have that explosiveness as a team to go from not playing well to near the top of the leaderboard in a short period of time."
The Seminoles are 10 shots behind tournament leader Virginia (-24). Florida (-17) is in second place, followed by Liberty (-16), FSU and tournament co-host Jacksonville (-11).
Norrman carried Florida State on Monday, shooting 10-under (68-66) to cap a tremendous two-round performance. He leads the field in par 5 scoring, remarkably shooting under par in seven of his eight par 5 holes faced in the first two rounds. As part of his second-round 66, he had consecutive eagles on his two back-nine par 5 holes.
The Stockholm, Sweden, native is one shot behind Purdue's Joe Weiler, who carded an 11-under (67-66) through two rounds.
"Vincent Norrman led us all day today," Jones added. "He's a phenomenal player. He played a great day. He couldn't have shot much higher than he did, truthfully. He had a phenomenal ball-striking day. I'm looking forward to seeing him go out and compete tomorrow and hopefully get his first collegiate win at Florida State."
After recording an opening round score of 71, senior John Pak heated up in the second round with a 4-under 68 to end the day at 5-under and tied for 12th. He carded four consecutive birdies on holes 15-18.
Denmark native Frederik Kjettrup made his FSU debut as an individual and did not disappoint, shooting 6-under (68-70) through his first two rounds. Cole Anderson and Connor Futrell are both tied for 32nd after shooting even par.
Greyson Porter and Brett Roberts each shot 3-over on the day, and are tied for 51st.
January 26, 2021
PONTE VEDRA, Fla. - Graduate transfer Vincent Norrman picked up his first collegiate victory at Florida State on Tuesday, using a birdie on the 18th hole to shoot 13-under and win the Timuquana Collegiate held at Timuquana Country Club.
"Golf's a game you don't get to win a lot, especially as an individual. For Vincent to come out in his second tournament for Florida State and to get a win against a lot of really talented players is a testament to him," FSU head coach Trey Jones said. "And the way he won the golf tournament by bogeying his 17th hole, all tied going into 18, and he drives it down the fairway and hits it to a foot…that's the way you want to win the golf tournament. Couldn't be prouder of him - he works hard. He will build on this."
Norrman shot a 3-under 69 on Tuesday to hold off Oklahoma State's Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra. He recorded a 34 on the front nine after three consecutive birdies, and when it came to pressure moments on the back nine he responded with two more birdies.
The Sweden native bogeyed the long par-4, 480-yard 17th hole to create a tie heading into the final hole. But his approach shot on the par-4, 423-yard 18th hole set him up for a very manageable birdie opportunity that he cashed in on. Lopez-Chacarra wound up with par.
Norrman is the first Seminole besides John Pak to win a collegiate tournament since current graduate student Jamie Li co-won the 2018 Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate with Alum Harry Ellis.
The Seminoles finished sixth in the Timuquana Collegiate, shooting 2-under (286) in their final round. FSU shot 16-under (288-274-286) as a team. The co-winners of the tournament were Liberty (-21) and Florida (-21).
"While we didn't have the end result we were hoping for coming into this tournament, we surely understand this time of year we're looking to build for things down the road," Jones added. "I like this golf team. We were able to have seven guys play and compete. Vincent played extremely well and I'm looking forward to watching him improve and continue to improve as the season goes on. He's getting more comfortable, as a lot of our guys are when you have several guys who haven't played for Florida State before.
"And in these situations, we're only going to learn and continue to get better. Some of the things we've noticed can be easily improved on. We're looking forward to getting back to work at our next event at Golden Eagle."
Pak tied for 12th at 5-under with a final-round 72. Freshman Frederik Kjettrup tied for 15th and finished first among all individuals in his debut tournament at 4-under. The freshman from Aabybro, Denmark, is another international talent who has a chance to flourish in his Seminole career.
Redshirt sophomore Cole Anderson, also playing as an individual, tied for 26th at 1-under (75-69-71). Graduate Greyson Porter (+1 overall) tied for 33rd, Connor Futrell (+4) placed 45th and Brett Roberts (+6) finished 57th on a very difficult and narrow course.

Noles Take First-Round Lead at Seminole Intercollegiate.
February 19, 2021
By Ian Bolger, Florida State Sports Information intern
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - A strong performance by freshman Brett Roberts puts the Florida State men's golf team in first place following the first round of the Seminole Intercollegiate at Golden Eagle Country Club in Tallahassee.
Roberts sits at second overall on the player leaderboard after the first day, shooting a 5-under 67 on Friday afternoon. His 5-under 67 score is the lowest score in any round for the freshman so far this season.
Senior All-American John Pak was another Nole that placed in the top five in first round, as he shot 3-under 69 and is tied for fifth overall. He was also one of the five players today that shot an eagle with his occurring on the 15th hole.
Freshman Frederik Kjettrup had a stellar day of play, shooting 2-under 70 and being tied for ninth overall. Both Graduate transfer Vincent Norrman and redshirt sophomore Cole Anderson also played well to round out the day for the Seminoles with each of them scoring 1-under 71 and placing 12th overall.
All five golfers for the Noles scored under-par with three players placing in the top nine spots after the first day of competition. FSU also leads the field with 22 birdies in the first round with Roberts, Kjettrup, and Norrman each shooting five birdies.
The FSU B-team performed well in the first round, as they start out in ninth out of the 15 teams total in this tournament. They are also both tied for 20th overall on the player's leaderboard.
The Seminoles currently hold a four-stroke lead at first place in the 15-team field, which includes eight top 50 teams, after the opening round of play at 11-under (277). Liberty is

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Senior All-American John Pak's second-place finish led the pack of impressive scores for the Florida State men's golf team, as they conclude the weekend as the champions of the Seminole Intercollegiate held at Golden Eagle Country Club in Tallahassee.
The seventh-ranked Seminoles won by nine strokes over No. 13 Oklahoma State (-17) and No. 1 Oklahoma (-12). The Noles' win on Sunday afternoon is their second tournament win of the season, as they won the Camp Creek Seminole Invitational earlier this year.
"I'm extremely happy for them," FSU Head Coach Trey Jones said. "It's still a golf team where - we had three newcomers play this week - and they haven't played a tournament out here and had not played a ton of golf at Golden Eagle until the last couple of weeks when we did our preparation. I'm proud of how our guys won a golf tournament on a really good golf course and against a really good field."
Pak shot the lowest score of the third round at 5-under 67, which is his best one-round score this season, to bring his total on the weekend to 10-under (69-70-67). His second-place finish overall is his best finish since last year's Seminole Intercollegiate, where he was the individual champion.
Redshirt sophomore Cole Anderson had an outstanding day of 2-under 70 to put him at 6-under (71-69-70) to finish the tournament. His combined score of 210 over three rounds gives him his best score during his career at FSU, as he was tied for sixth overall among all players this weekend.
Both Pak and Anderson were placed in the top 10 overall and all five FSU golfers were placed within the top 20 of the player's leaderboard. All of the Seminole golfers also finished with below-par scores, the only team to do so over the three-day tournament.
Freshman Brett Roberts also had a stellar day for the Noles, as he put together a 1-under 71 score and 3-under (67-75-71) combined. His performance put him tied for 11th on the overall leaderboard.
Graduate transfer Vincent Norrman had four birdies on the day to give him 2-under (71-72-71) for the tournament. Freshman Frederik Kjettrup also shot 2-under (70-71-73) over the course of the weekend, which puts him and Norrman tied for 16th overall.
The FSU B-team tied for 10th in the tournament, as senior Connor Futrell had their best score with 1-over (74-69-74) and was tied for 27th overall on the weekend. Sophomore Fletcher Wunderlich shot the low round of the day for the B-team at even-par 72 and finished the meet tied for 36th at 5-over (72-77-72).
Pak was tied for the lowest par-three average over the weekend, along with Norrman being tied for second in scoring the lowest par-five averages. FSU also finished with the second-most birdies and was tied for the most eagles as well.

Seminoles Hanging Tough at Cabo Collegiate.
March 1, 2021
SAN ANTONIO, Tex. - With an entire field having to endure cold and windy conditions all day, Florida State Men's Golf managed to stay toward the top of the leaderboard tied in third place at the Cabo Collegiate held at the Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio.
Winds between 20-30 mph wreaked havoc all day on a course that is known as one of the tougher PGA TOUR venues.
"That was as difficult a day as I have coached in," FSU Head Coach Trey Jones said. "What a great experience for our new guys to play in these conditions on a PGA TOUR course. I can't remember playing in winds that never really got below 20 mph."
Senior John Pak, who was named to the U.S. Walker Cup Team earlier in the day, proved why he remains one of the best collegiate golfers out there. Of the 88 golfers, Pak is one of four who shot under par at 1-under 71. He trails Oklahoma's Patrick Welch, who is two shots ahead at 3-under.
Pak started with a 34 on the front nine, but ran into some difficult holes on the back end where he had a three-bogey stretch from holes 15-17. However, the Scotch Plains, N.J., native managed to finish the round on a high note when he stuck a birdie on the par-5, 550-yard 18th hole.
He shot 3-under on par 5 holes on Monday, tied for the lowest among all golfers.
Pak's round has helped FSU to a 10-over (298) start in the tournament, sitting 11 shots back of first-place Oklahoma (-1), which was the only team to shoot under par. Texas A&M is second (+9) followed by Texas being tied with FSU for third.
Graduate transfer Vincent Norrman endured the conditions to shoot a 1-over 73. The Timuqana Collegiate champion sparked his day with two birdies and did not let any holes get away from him, carding three bogeys in a round where many golfers felt the difficulty of both the course and the weather.
"Our two seniors did what we needed them to do on this kind of day," Jones added of Pak and Norrman.
Senior Connor Futrell, playing as an individual, is tied with Norrman for eighth place after carding a 1-over 73. The Tallahassee native posted three birdies in his round.
Redshirt sophomore Cole Anderson is tied for 33rd at 4-over, followed by freshmen Brett Roberts (T49th; +6) and Frederik Kjettrup (T74th; +9).
Florida
State played the best among the field on par 3 holes (+1) and recorded the second-most birdies (14) on the day.

SAN ANTONIO, Tex. - Graduate transfer Vincent Norrman shot the low round of the day and is at the top of the player leaderboard as the Florida State Men's Golf team moved up to second place after the second round of the Cabo Collegiate at TPC San Antonio.
The third-ranked Seminoles shot 1-under overall as a team on Tuesday afternoon and are a combined 9-over (298-287) after the second day of play.
The Noles have jumped ahead of No. 10 Texas (+20) and No. 19 Texas A&M (+10) for second place. They only trail No. 1 Oklahoma by three strokes going into the final round of the tournament.
Norrman, who started the second round at 1-over, strung together four birdies and an eagle on the back nine to push him to 4-under 68 on the day. He is now in first place on the leaderboard at 3-under (73-68) and holds a three-stroke lead over three golfers whom are tied for second.
"Another impressive back nine by our guys," FSU Head Coach Trey Jones said. "We only made one birdie on the front as a team but I guess they saved them today for the end. Vincent showed the explosiveness that we have seen at home. You don't see a lot of 30's on the scorecard. He as well as all our new guys are still adapting to this level of competitive collegiate golf."
Norrman's 68 is the low round of the tournament so far. He is one of just three golfers who has shot in the 60s so far in San Antonio.
The Georgia Southwestern transfer is on track to win his second tournament of the season, as he won the Timuquana Collegiate earlier this year.
Senior All-American John Pak shot no worse than par on the back nine to conclude an impressive second round of 2-over 74. His 1-over (71-74) combined score has him holding steady within the top five of the leaderboard heading into tomorrow's round.
Freshman Frederik Kjettrup, along with Norrman, was the only other Seminole to shoot below par in the second round at 1-under 71. He improved his score from the first round by 10 strokes and now holds a combined score of 8-over (81-71).
"Freddy's maturity and patience is at an elite level for first-year players, as this was evident with him coming in with a 33 on the final nine," Jones added.
Redshirt sophomore Cole Anderson improved late in the day with three birdies in four holes to put him at 3-over 75 for the round and 7-over (76-75) combined. Freshman Brett Roberts played a balanced round with 2-over 74 on the day and 8-over (78-74) overall.
"Brett is close to playing really well and giving us steady play," Jones said. "John fought all day as he always does and is only four back from the leader Vincent."
Senior Connor Futrell, who is playing as an individual in this tournament, shot 3-over 75 today and leads all individuals in this tournament at 4-over (73-75). He also is tied for 19th overall on the player leaderboard and is the only individual placed in the top 40.
Two
Seminole golfers are placed in the top five on the player's leaderboard and all five golfers are within the top 40 spots overall. Through the first two rounds, FSU also holds the best average of
scores on par three holes and is tied for third for the most pars and birdies so far in this tournament.

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. - Top-ranked Florida State Men's Golf had a productive first two rounds of play at The Hayt in Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach on Sunday. FSU is third among 14 competing teams entering Monday's final round.
Senior John Pak headlined the Seminoles on Sunday, sitting in a tie for second place at 6-under (69-69). Pak trails UNF's Nick Gabrelcik (-7) by just one stroke headed into the final day.

Noles in Fifth through Two Rounds at Calusa Cup.
April 5, 2021
NAPLES, Fla. - The Florida State Men's Golf Team has an uphill climb if it wants to take home the team title at the Calusa Cup at Calusa Pines Golf Club in Naples, Fla.
The top-ranked Seminoles are fifth in the tournament at 8-over, shooting 6-over in Monday's second round. FSU trails second-ranked Oklahoma (+1) by seven strokes, while Georgia Tech (+2), Texas (+3) and Florida (+5) help make up the top five.
Freshman Brett Roberts was FSU's top performer on Monday, shooting a 1-under 71. He is tied for seventh overall at even par. On the front nine, the Coral Springs, Fla., native recorded two birdies and a bogey. Roberts then played a clean back nine with nothing but pars.
Despite shooting four strokes higher than his first round, senior John Pak is also tied for seventh at even par (70-74). Pak overcame three bogeys on the front nine by picking up one birdie and just one bogey on the back nine, showing much more consistency following the turn.
Vincent Norrman (+4) is tied for 20th overall, while Frederik Kjettrup (+5: T26) and Connor Futrell (+8: T34) also show respectable scores.
Florida State has been able to take advantage of the short holes at Calusa Pines, ranking second among all teams with a par 3 average of 3.20.
April 6, 2021
NAPLES, Fla. - Senior Florida State Men's golfer John Pak has inched himself closer to history on Tuesday. The native of Scotch Plains, N.J., won his eighth tournament title as a Seminole, winning the Calusa Cup at Calusa Pines Golf Club in Naples, Fla.
Pak's win at 5-under (70-74-67) ties him with Seminole legend Nolan Henke (1983-87) for the most tournament victories in program history. Pak has accomplished this feat despite having a majority of his spring season taken away in 2020 due to COVID-19.
"It means so much to me," Pak said of his program record-tying eighth win. "I've spent the last four years here in Tallahassee and it's basically home to me. I've always wanted to leave a mark here when I finish school and I feel like this win really did that."
Calusa Pines proved to be a mighty challenge for many golfers over the last three days, but Pak found a way to make a dent in the course on Tuesday. His final-round 67 tied for the lowest score of the day as he carved up the difficult course with six birdies. Pak shot a 32 on the front nine, which included three consecutive birdies on holes 6-8.
The all-time leader in lowest scoring average at Florida State will have his first opportunity to surpass Henke's mark on April 23-26 at the ACC Championship located at Capital City Club in Atlanta. Pak is the reigning ACC Champion after shooting 13-under in 2019 (last year's tournament was canceled).
The top-ranked Seminoles finished third at the Calusa Cup at 4-over (290-294-284). Second-ranked Oklahoma took home the tournament title as the only team that shot under par at 5-under (293-284-282).
FSU has managed to finish in the Top 3 in six of its seven tournaments played this spring season, including winning the Camp Creek Seminole Invitational, the Seminole Intercollegiate and the Valspar Collegiate.
Aside from Pak's standout play, freshman Brett Roberts tied for fifth at 1-under overall (73-71-71). The finish is Roberts' best of the season as he continues to emerge as one of FSU's several talented young golfers whom will help the program now and into the future.
A final-round 69 by graduate transfer Vincent Norrman helped him tie for 12th overall at 1-over, moving him up eight spots on the day. Frederik Kjettrup tied for 29th at 10-over and Connor Futrell shot 15-over.

No. 2 Men's Golf in Fourth at ACC Championship.
April 23, 2021
ATLANTA, Ga. - The No. 2 Florida State Men's Golf team is looking for a strong third round on Saturday as it sits at fourth through two rounds at the ACC Championship held at the Capital City Club in Atlanta, Ga.
The Seminoles (-3) are one of only four programs under par through the first two rounds, but remain 18 shots out of first place behind tournament leader and 17th-ranked North Carolina (-21). In second place is No. 10 NC State (-12), followed by third-place and No. 4 Clemson (-9).
"We played a very difficult day today," FSU Head Coach Trey Jones said. "We didn't get a whole lot going. Didn't seem to get into a rhythm one way or another, and it seemed like it was a fight all day long for our team. Credit to them for that. We hung in there when things weren't going very well.
"Some of our seniors in Vincent (Norrman) and John (Pak) just carried the team in the second round right when we needed them to do it. But it's a team effort and if we go out there and play like we should play, we beat everyone in the next round and advance on and have a chance to win this golf tournament."
Pak, who is going for a school-record nine career tournament titles, is tied for seventh at 3-under (70-67). He carded four birdies in a second round that was much needed and only added one bogey. It was Pak's 10th round this season in the 60s, and he has recorded at least one round in the 60s in all eight tournaments played this spring.
Norrman aided the Seminole effort with a 2-under (71-67) that leaves him tied for 11th through two rounds. Norrman added six birdies in his comeback second round, including an important stretch of back-to-back birdies on the 15th and 16th holes before bogeying the par-4 17th.
"I'm proud of Vincent and John for keeping us in it," Jones said. "We're going to need five scores tomorrow. We had five scores in the first round and only three in the second. We're better than that. It's going to be interesting to see this team come back and fight, because one thing we know is they will fight. No different than at Calusa Pines when we made a run and won that one. They're going to come out and be ready tomorrow."
Freshman Brett Roberts is also tied for 11th with a 2-under (67-71), starting FSU off well by shooting 3-under in the opening frame. Roberts has finished in the Top 11 in five of his seven tournaments played this spring.
Senior Connor Futrell (+4) is tied for 35th while freshman Frederik Kjettrup (+8) is tied for 50th.
NC State's Benjamin Shipp leads the tournament at 8-under. But on a day that could include battling the weather elements, anything can happen in Saturday's final round of stroke play.
"We'll be playing in rain all day long and probably on and off the golf course most of the day, but everyone has to do the same thing and we'll see how we handle it," Jones
added.

ATLANTA, Ga. - The No. 2-ranked Florida State Men's Golf team goes for its second ACC Championship title on Monday. The Seminoles clinched a spot in the match play championship after defeating No. 17 North Carolina, 4-1, in Sunday's match play semifinals at the Capital City Club in Atlanta.
It was nail-biting action just for the Seminoles to make it to the match play semifinals. FSU entered Sunday's final stroke-play round in that coveted fourth and final spot, and just hung on at the end as it battled neck-and-neck with Georgia Tech (+6) and Wake Forest (+6). Clinging to a one-shot lead at 5-over as a team, John Pak was the last Seminole to finish on the 18th hole and recorded a par to clinch a spot in the semifinals.
Pak tied for fifth in the stroke-play portion of the ACC Tournament at 4-under (70-67-69), carding a clutch score of 69 in his final round. He began the back nine stretch with three straight birdies on holes 10-12. Although a double bogey on the par-4, 480-yard 14th hole cut it close for the Seminoles, he finished with pars on holes 15-18 when many other competitors found it difficult to maintain those scores in a tough final four holes played.
Norrman's final-round 71 was much needed for the Noles as well, as he tied for 12th at 1-under in his ACC Championship debut. Norrman had two birdies in his Sunday stroke-play round, and despite carding consecutive bogeys on holes 15 and 16, he maintained his poise at the end with two pars that aided Florida State's match-play hopes.
Roberts tied for 19th at 2-over, while Kjettrup (+12) and senior Connor Futrell (+12) tied for 47th.

Seminoles Reach ACC Championship Finals.
ATLANTA, Ga. - Freshman Frederik Kjettrup started FSU off with a 5&4 win of his own when he took down Peter Fountain to put the Seminoles ahead 1-0 in match play. Senior Vincent Norrman also won his match, 3&1, over Ryan Gerard, as he was the final Seminole to earn a point.
Freshman Brett Roberts came up huge yet again as he clinched the match for the Seminoles when he defeated Ryan Burnett of North Carolina, 2&1. Up by two holes headed to the 17th, Roberts matched Burtnett's par on the par-3 hole to put FSU ahead 3-0 overall, sinking a putt of decent length to get the par.
Redshirt senior Greyson Porter, who came to the ACC Championship as an alternate, filled in for match play in the semifinals and made the most of his opportunity. He clinched FSU's second point in the match to put the Noles up 2-0, taking down UNC's Austin Hitt 5&4.
Florida State seeks its first ACC Championship title since 2008 and its second in program history on Monday when it faces 10th-ranked Clemson.
Florida State Falls in Sudden Death Match Play Final.

ATLANTA, Ga. - The No. 2-ranked Florida State Men's Golf team suffered a tough loss to 10th-ranked Clemson, 3-2, at the ACC Championship Match Play final on Monday at Capital City Club's Crabapple Course in Atlanta, Ga.
With the match score tied at two points each, it all came down to a sudden-death playoff match between redshirt senior Greyson Porter and Clemson's Zack Gordon.
The first and second playoff holes presented opportunities for each of them to seal the win for their teams but neither player could execute. On the third playoff hole, Gordon sunk what would be the match-winning birdie putt for the Tigers on the par-3 hole and Porter was not able to match his putt. This came after strong drives off the tee by both golfers that reached the green.
Freshman Brett Roberts was dominant from the start of the round and never let go of the lead after the second hole. He jumped to a four-stroke lead through the first nine holes and scored the first point for FSU in the match, defeating Clemson's Turk Pettit, 6&5. The win capped a brilliant week for the freshman as he went 2-0 in match play vs. North Carolina and Clemson.
Freshman Frederik Kjettrup played close to Clemson's Colby Patton through the first nine holes with the match score staying within one stroke. Kjettrup held a one-stroke lead heading to the 18th hole and clinched the Seminoles' second point of the championship, 1UP, with a par to avoid a playoff hole. He also went 2-0 in match play.
Graduate transfer Vincent Norrman had a great start in today's round and had the lead through the first nine holes as well but fell back by two strokes with a bogey on the 14th hole. Norrman was not able to bring it within one on the 17th hole and Kyle Cottam won Clemson's first point of the match, 2&1.
Senior All-American John Pak had a two-stroke lead going into the 12th hole, but Clemson's Jacob Bridgeman was able to even it back up with a par on the 15th hole. With the score tied going into the 18th hole, Bridgeman was able to lock in another par to win the point, 1UP, and give the Tigers their second point of the match to tie the score.
Porter and Gordon were neck and neck through all 18 holes, with the score being tied for 15 of those holes. Gordon took a one-stroke lead on the ninth hole, but Porter tied it back up soon after with a birdie on the 12th hole and the score would stay tied until Gordon won the match on the 21st hole.
Noles Shoot Record Low in First Round of Regional.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 1-seeded Florida State men's golf team played a fantastic round during the first day of the NCAA Men's Golf Regional, as it finished with a combined score of 17-under 271 at the newly renovated Seminole Legacy Golf Club in Tallahassee.
Four of the five players for the Seminoles shot 4-under 68 or better throughout the first round of play. This led to FSU recording its lowest aggregate score ever in a single round of NCAA play, as well as their lowest team score of the season.
"It was a great start for our team," head coach Trey Jones said about FSU's performance during Monday's round. "We've been really focused for the last two weeks and after coming off of a heartbreaking ACC [tournament loss] wondering how they were going to handle it; they've been business every single day and I think today was just a reflection of that the way that they came out."
Florida State leads the field of 14 teams in the Tallahassee Regional among teams such as No. 2-seed Georgia and conference foe Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets are six strokes behind the Noles in second place at 11-under, while Liberty (-5) and Ohio State (-4) are closely behind them after the first round of play.
Senior John Pak recorded six birdies and an eagle to finish with an impressive round of 5-under 67. The All-American sits tied for second among all golfers on the leaderboard and is on pace to get his fifth top-three individual finish of the season.
Redshirt sophomore Cole Anderson had a strong performance as well, shooting 4-under 68 on the day. He shot seven birdies, which is tied for the most birdies by a player in the first round, and his score of 4-under 68 was one stroke shy from tying his season-low single round score of 5-under 67 at the Camp Creek Seminole Invite back in January.
"My game has been coming around in a pretty good spot here for a little bit and I've been working hard at it," Anderson said about his confidence going into the rest of the week. "There's been some consistency issues before, but I feel like I'm in a good spot. This is great to reaffirm that the work I'm doing is the right work and that I'm heading in the right direction."
Graduate transfer Vincent Norrman also scored a 4-under 68 and sits tied for fifth with Anderson on the leaderboard. He recorded four birdies and didn't shoot worse than par on any hole in the first round.
Freshman Brett Roberts was the third Seminole in the tournament to put together a 4-under 68 score or better. His six birdies on the day helped him stick within the top five overall players with Pak, Anderson, and Norrman.
Freshman Frederik Kjettrup shot par for 15 out of the 18 holes in today's round and finished with a score of 1-over 73. He currently sits tied for 35th on the player's leaderboard.
The Seminoles are the only team to have four players place in the top five positions on the overall leaderboard. Only one other team in the regional has more than one player placed in the top 10.
The Seminoles did most of their damage on par-4 holes, leading the field with the lowest average for those holes at 4-under. The Noles also lead in par-5 team average at 12-under and have recorded the most birdies with 24 through the first round.
"They've been ultra-focused for the last two weeks," said Jones on this team staying sharp with the early lead. "I've never seen
anything like it before. That doesn't always guarantee success and we're not done yet, but they sure aren't against a lot right now."
May 18, 2021
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Freshman Brett Roberts was the low hitter for the top-seeded Florida State Men's Golf team in Tuesday's second round of the NCAA Tallahassee Regional. The freshman carded a 69 as FSU shot a 7-under 281 and built an eight-stroke lead at Seminole Legacy Golf Club.
"They came out ready to go once again," FSU Head Coach Trey Jones said. "Our top three guys all year long have been Brett, Vinny (Norrman) and John (Pak), and they got it under par after the second hole today. We talked about taking the fight to the boxer, don't get hit in the face first. We'll come out and do the same thing tomorrow."
A swirling wind and firmed-up greens kept scores a bit higher on Tuesday, as Roberts was the lone Seminole to shoot in the 60s. His crucial round helped Florida State greatly after both Liberty and Georgia Tech were trying to make closer runs, at times being just one stroke behind on the team leaderboard.
Second-place Liberty is at 16-under after shooting an 11-under 277 on Tuesday, while Georgia Tech is in third at 13-under.
Roberts recorded five birdies in the second round, with a double-bogey on the monstrous par-5, 600-yard sixth hole sandwiched in there. After shooting a 34 on the front nine, he was steady on the difficult back nine where he made a birdie on the par-5 11th and shot a 35 on the final nine.
"It's pretty important to get off to a really good start," Roberts added. "The back nine plays a lot longer with a lot of long irons, and it's hard to take it low on the back too."
Roberts is tied for third overall on the player leaderboard, behind Jacksonville's Michael Sakane (-11) and Georgia's Davis Thompson (-10).
"There's a reason, in football terms, he was a five-star recruit. He was as good as any high school recruit in the country," Jones said of Roberts. "He's as good as any freshman in the country. He has gotten better and better and listens to everything you tell him to do. He's super talented."
Graduate transfer Vincent Norrman battled hard for a 2-under 70, shooting 35s on the front and back nine. He recorded a key birdie on the 17th hole - a par-4, 465-yarder, to send him into Wednesday's final round with some confidence and momentum. Norrman is tied for fifth.
Redshirt sophomore Cole Anderson had another good day, also shooting 2-under and tying for fifth overall at 6-under. He may have provided the biggest shot of the day when he hit an eagle on the par-5 11th hole at a time when both Liberty and Georgia Tech were inching closer up the leaderboard.
Frederik Kjettrup and John Pak rounded out the scores with even-par 72s each.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The top-ranked Florida State men's golf team capped off a spectacular week of play with a combined score of 34-under (271-281-278) to win their first NCAA Regional in program history at the Seminole Legacy Golf Club on Wednesday.
The Seminoles will move on to play in their first NCAA Championship since 2017 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
The Noles finished 17 strokes better over the next best team in the regional with 2nd-ranked Georgia placing second at 17-under. Georgia Tech (-16), Liberty (-15), and TCU (-9) rounded out the top five teams that will be advancing to the NCAA Championship next week.
Graduate transfer Vincent Norrman had a stellar performance in the third round with a score of 3-under 69 to finish the tournament at 9-under (68-70-69).
Norrman led all Noles in scoring for the week and placed third overall on the player's leaderboard. He also scored his third straight round under par and led all players in par-three average (-5) throughout the regional.
Senior John Pak was not far behind Norrman in the leaderboard with an overall score of 8-under (67-72-69) to finish in fourth place.
The All-American led the field in birdies with 18 after recording four birdies in the first five holes during Wednesday's round. This was also his sixth tournament this season that he's finished within the top five players. Pak capped his last competitive round at home with a 69.
Freshman Frederik Kjettrup also had six birdies on the day and led all Noles in scoring during the final round at 4-under 68. He improved his score each day to finish with a combined score of 3-under (73-72-68) and tied for 17th overall.
Freshman Brett Roberts followed his great day on Tuesday with another strong outing of even-par 72. He falls right behind Norrman and Pak on the leaderboard tied for fifth at 7-under (68-69-72) overall.
Redshirt sophomore Cole Anderson shot 2-over 74 on the day and completed the round at 4-under (68-70-74) combined. He finished tied for 15th on the leaderboard and had the second-best par-five average (-9) throughout the tournament.
The Seminoles were the only team to have all five of their golfers shoot under par combined through all three rounds of the regional. Three players for the Noles shot even-par or better in each of the three rounds, while the other two players only had one round each that was over par.
They were also the only team with three players in the top five and five in the top 20 of the overall leaderboard. No other team in the regional had more than two players placed in the top 10.
FSU led in average scoring for par-three (-6), par-four (+1), and par-five (-26) holes throughout the regional. Theyalso recorded the most birdies with 71, which was 14 more than the next team.

Florida State Men's Golf in Sixth at NCAA Championship.
May 28, 2021
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - The top-seeded Florida State Men's Golf team had a productive first round at the NCAA Championship held at Grayhawk Golf Club, ending the day in sixth after shooting a 1-over 281 in Scottsdale, Ariz.
With two rounds left to play before only the Top 15 teams are kept, the Seminoles put themselves in good position early to make the first initial cut of the finals.
Senior John Pak finished with a 32 on his final nine holes to lead the Seminole charge toward their back nine, which included an eagle on the par-5, 562-yard fourth hole. Pak also had consecutive birdies on holes 6 and 7 to aid the Seminoles greatly in their team score. The nation's top-ranked golfer had three birdies in his opening round and is tied for fifth after shooting 2-under.
Graduate student Vincent Norrman is tied for 17th after finishing 1-under with a 69. Norrman also had an eagle when he dropped a ‘2' on the par-4, 430-yard 14th hole. He added a par-5 birdie on the fourth hole, which was a hole the Seminoles played well on the day with one eagle, two birdies and two pars.
Freshman Frederik Kjettrup led FSU with five birdies and tied for 43rd after shooting 1-over with a 71. He ended his round with a birdie on the par-4, 468-yard ninth hole.
Freshman Brett Roberts is tied for 74th a 3-over, while Cole Anderson is tied for 87th at 4-over.
Texas Tech (first place; -4), Sam Houston (-2) and Pepperdine (-1) were the only
teams to card under par scores at Grayhawk through the first round.
May 29, 2021
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - The Florida State Men's Golf Team sits in 11th place through the second round of the NCAA Men's Golf Championship held at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
The Seminoles look to close in on the Top 15 cutline following Sunday's third stroke-play round.
"From a results standpoint, it definitely wasn't the round we were looking for," FSU Head Coach Trey Jones said. "This is a golf team that has only shot somewhere around four over-par rounds for the year, and to go out and have all five players struggle on the same day was tough on them."
FSU moved five spots down the leaderboard on Saturday, with none of its five golfers finishing under par as it shot 14-over as a team. Senior John Pak shot 2-over par on the day, recording a birdie and sitting in a tie for 16th on the leaderboard at even par.
Averaging close to 20 birdies per round, FSU was only able to record five birdies on the day in what has been a difficult golf course at Grayhawk.
"We've put ourselves in a position where we're going to have to play a really good round of golf tomorrow, and we knew when we came here that we would have to play good golf," Jones added. "We need to respond versus react. From a golf course standpoint, we simply didn't hit enough balls close to the hole, and we didn't putt it very well at all.
Graduate transfer Vincent Norrman is tied for 26th at 2-over, shooting a 3-over 73 on Saturday. He also added a birdie in his round, the same par-5, 650-yard hole on the 11th that Pak also birdied.
Redshirt sophomore Cole Anderson had a steady round at 4-over. Freshmen Brett Roberts and Frederik Kjettrup each shot 5-over.
Oklahoma State leads the field at 6-under, followed by Oklahoma (-1) in second place. The two schools from the Sooner State are the only programs shooting under par for the championship.
In order to move on, FSU will look for a big day on Sunday in the pivotal third stroke-play round of the championship.
"When frustrations sets in, you're just not
in a good place," Jones added. "And a lot of that was youth for them and not being able to keep a positive attitude and move forward. I have full confidence in these guys to come out tomorrow and play
like how I know they can play."
May 30, 2021
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Florida State Men's Golf showed is true mettle in the third round of the NCAA Golf Championship as it carded a 6-under 274 at Grayhawk Golf Club.
The low score vaulted FSU up to fifth place in the stroke-play portion of the championship to secure a Top 15 spot and advance to the final stroke-play round on Monday. The Top eight teams on Monday will advance to match play on Tuesday.
The 6-under score shot by the Seminoles on Sunday tied for the low score of the day with championship leader Oklahoma State. FSU tied with Liberty among teams making the biggest leap on the leaderboard, moving up five spots from its 11th-place start.
All four counting scores on Sunday included under par scores on a very difficult course. With the season on the line, John Pak and Brett Roberts came through in a big way with a pair of 2-under 68s. Pak is tied for 10th among all golfers at 2-under overall, the only Seminole who is under par for the championship.
Roberts easily shot his best round of the championship, making two birdies in his final three holes to solidify his strong showing.

Frederik Kjettrup responded in a big way as well with a 1-under 69, rounding out a tremendous collective round for the Seminoles. Cole Anderson shot a 5-over 75.
The Seminoles advance to the final round of stroke play for the second straight time in as many appearances after also reaching the final 15 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill., in 2017.
The Top five of the
championship includes Oklahoma State (-12), Oklahoma (+1), Arizona State (+2), Illinois (+4) and FSU.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - The Florida State Men's Golf team simply got the job done in Monday's decisive final stroke-play round at the NCAA Championship.
Shooting a 7-over 287 on Memorial Day, the Seminoles secured one of the coveted eight spots to reach the NCAA Championship Match Play Quarterfinals held on Tuesday at Grayhawk Golf Club. Based on the stroke-play finish, FSU will be the 6 seed facing No. 3 seed Pepperdine.
FSU looked to its four-year leader for the big shots down the stretch in order to hold on to a Top eight finish. Clinging to an eighth-place spot through the first nine holes, John Pak carded a critical two-hole stretch where he recorded an eagle on the par-5 11th followed by a birdie on the par-4 12th.
Pak wound up shooting a 69 on Monday and finished at 3-under (68-72-68-69) to place fifth in the stroke-play portion of the championship. He becomes the sixth Seminole to earn a Top 5 finish at an NCAA Championship and the first since Daniel Berger tied for second in 2013 at Crabapple Course at the Capital City Club in Alpharetta, Ga.
The Seminoles are moving on with the help of a well-maintained back nine effort where they recorded 28 pars in 36 holes played among the four counting scores. Freshman Frederik Kjettrup had another strong round shooting a 1-over 71 on Monday and shooting 6-over for the championship. Kjettrup's birdie on the par-4 17th hole punctuated an important day for FSU.
FSU advances to match play for the second time in program history since the format was instituted into the NCAA Championship in 2009. The other time occurred in 2010 when Brooks Koepka led the Noles to the match play semifinals as they tied for third overall.
Cole Anderson shot a 3-over 73 and finished at 16-over. Vincent Norrman tied for 29th overall at 5-over and Brett Roberts tied for 54th at 12-over.
FSU's 7-over round on Monday marked the fifth-lowest round of the day, but the third-lowest among the eight teams that advanced. The other matchups include Arizona State (No. 1) vs. North Carolina (No. 8), Oklahoma State (No. 2) vs. Vanderbilt (No. 7) and Oklahoma (No. 4) vs. Illinois (No. 5).
John Pak Secures No. 1 SPot in the Inaugural PGA Tour University Class

In the first year of the PGA TOUR University Class rankings, Pak led wire-to-wire in what has been a dominant senior season for the native of Scotch Plains, N.J.

Seminoles End Banner Season in NCAA Quarterfinals.
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Florida State Men's Golf fell to Pepperdine, 3.5-1.5, on Tuesday afternoon in the NCAA Men's Golf Match Play Quarterfinals held at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
The loss ends a highly-accomplished 2021 year for the Seminoles, whom entered the NCAA Championship as the top overall seed, secured their first regional victory and earned their second Top 10 finish under the current format of the championship.
"It was a disappointing way to end a great season," FSU Head Coach Trey Jones said. "I felt like the way the guys competed that we were never out of it until Pepperdine's player chipped in on the eighth hole. Those things happen. I'm proud of our team for the way they fought - they did it all year. We had amazing leadership this year with Greyson Porter as our captain, Vincent Norrman coming in and immediately being such an important part of our team for so many reasons other than golf.
"Then there's John Pak having one of the best seasons any college golfer could have, no matter what school, and certainly at Florida State. I'm proud of the accomplishments this year. I'm proud of everything they did. It's tough when you get this close and don't make the putts you need to make."
The clinching match occurred between Joe Highsmith and Cole Anderson, as Highsmith of Pepperdine recorded a chip-in birdie leading by one hole on the par-3 eighth hole. Anderson then recorded par to end the match at 2&1 and give the Waves the match-play victory.
John Pak secured FSU's lone win over William Mouw after coming back from two holes down through 10. But he responded by winning Hole No. 2 to cut the deficit to one hole, then tied the match with a birdie on the par-3 fifth hole. He then took the lead with a birdie on the par-4 sixth hole and maintained from there, winning 1UP.
The match-play win ends Pak's record-setting career with the Seminoles, emerging as arguably the greatest collegiate golfer in the program's history.
"John's numbers speak for themselves," Jones added. "He's going to be listed on several individual awards this year, and all are well deserved. None of them come close to the kind of person he is and the kind of Seminole he is. He's one of the best people, and it's been an honor to be his coach. I'm looking forward to seeing and following his professional career as well as Greyson and Vincent's."
Frederik Kjettrup halved his match vs. Pepperdine's Dylan Menante through 20 holes played, ending his freshman season having gone 2-0-1 in match play after defeating his opponents in Clemson and North Carolina during the ACC Championship.
Tuesday was FSU's first appearance in the NCAA Championship Match Play format since 2010 when it reached the semifinals.
John Pak Named Ping First-Team All-American
Another national honor rolled through for John Pak on Tuesday morning, earning PING First-Team All-America honors as one of the 12 best collegiate golfers in the country.
Recognized by the Golf Coaches Association of America, the award marks the second time Pak has been named a PING First-Team All-American. In 2019, he also achieved the same feat.
Pak was already one of five FSU golfers to earn first-team honors from the GCAA, joining Nolan Henke, Daniel Berger, Jonas Blixt and Bobby Cochran. But Pak is the only FSU golfer to earn the honor twice (2019 and 2021).
