TALLAHASSEE, FL - Dr. Don Veller, who recently resigned after five seasons as head football coach at Florida State University to accept a full professorship in physical education at the school, yesterday was appointed golf coach at FSU.

The announcement was made by Dr. Howard Danford, FSU director of athletics. Veller will assume the duties of golf coach, formerly held by assistant football coach Bob Harbison.

Danford stated concerning the shifting of duties in the department: "Because of the conflict between golf and spring football practice, it was necessary to make the change. The change was agreed upon by all parties concerned. It would have been done long ago had we had anyone to handle golf."

Veller stated he expected some 12 candidates for the varsity links team, including lettermen Frank Hurst of Tallahassee and Jimmy James of Miami, to report for practice within the next few days.
