Seminoles Post Opening Day Shutout.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 9 Florida State baseball team began the 2025 season with a 6-0 victory over James Madison in front of a sellout crowd at Dick Howser Stadium on Friday night.

Junior left-handed starter Jamie Arnold made his first career Opening Day start and allowed just one hit in 6.0 shutout innings with eight strikeouts, while junior second baseman Drew Faurot hit a three-run home run in the third inning to provide all the offense FSU needed.

With 6,700 fans in attendance on a beautiful evening, the Seminoles (1-0) scored six runs on four hits with one error. The Dukes (0-1) were held to two hits and committed five errors. Five of FSU's six runs were unearned.

Florida State posted its fourth consecutive Opening Day win and improved to 66-10-1 all-time in its first game of the season. Three of FSU's last four season-opening victories have come against JMU, with 2025 joining 2022 and 2023, all in Tallahassee. The Seminoles are 6-0 on the opening weekend under third-year head coach Link Jarrett, with Opening Day shutouts in each of the last two campaigns.

In 6.0 innings of work, Arnold allowed just one hit, in the fifth inning, and struck out eight with no walks. Sophomore righty John Abraham followed with 3.0 shutout innings of his own to pick up his second career save. He also limited JMU to one hit, in the ninth, and struck out eight, including the first six batters he faced and the last two. Abraham walked one.

Faurot's three-run home run turned a scoreless game into a 3-0 Florida State lead in the third inning. The 23rd homer of his career and eighth at FSU came on a 3-2 pitch with two outs. It was the highlight of a two-hit night for the junior.

The Seminoles improved to 7-0 all-time against James Madison, to go along with three-game home sweeps in 2022 and 2023, also to open those seasons. Tonight was the first shutout.

Arnold struck out a pair in a 1-2-3 first inning, and he retired the side again in the second. He added his third strikeout in a clean third inning, with several nice defensive plays by Seminole infielders helping the Dukes go nine up, nine down.

Offensively, Florida State put two on in the first, on an error and a walk, and they loaded the bases thanks to another error and a Faurot single in the second. They couldn't plate a run until the third, when a fielding error and walk put two on with one out. A strikeout was the second out of the inning to set up Faurot.

On a 3-2 pitch, he hit the season's first home run with a deep ball over the right-center field wall. That gave FSU a 3-0 lead, which proved to be enough with Arnold, and then Abraham, on the mound.

Two more strikeouts fueled another perfect inning for Arnold in the fourth, and he got the first two outs of the fifth. A single to shallow left was the first hit of the game, but the southpaw quickly induced a grounder that he fielded and threw to first to end the threat.

Arnold's night concluded after the sixth inning, a frame that saw a runner reach on an error and steal second. That's the only James Madison runner that got into scoring position, and Arnold struck out his eighth, and second of the inning, to conclude his night.

Abraham picked up right where Arnold left off with three strikeouts in the seventh and three more in the eighth.

Florida State added three runs in the bottom of the eighth to double its lead. Redshirt senior catcher Nathan Cmeyla led off the frame with a double down the left field line and took third on a wild pitch. Freshman first baseman Myles Bailey and junior right fielder Gage Harrelson both walked to load the bases with no outs. Junior shortstop Alex Lodise then lined out on a hard-hit ball to short. Attempting to double off Bailey at second, the errant throw went into right field to allow Cmeyla and Bailey to score.

A fielder's choice plated Harrelson, as junior center fielder Max Williams drove him in.

Abraham completed the three-inning save with two strikeouts to end the ninth. The leadoff batter reached on a single to left but was thrown out at second by Williams to Faurot. A walk put one on before the two punchouts ended it.

FSU Secures Series with Saturday Win.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Four home runs helped propel the No. 9-ranked Florida State baseball team to a 9-2 victory over James Madison on Saturday afternoon at Dick Howser Stadium.

In front of a sellout crowd of 6,700 fans, the second consecutive full house to begin the year, junior second baseman Drew Faurot hit his second home run in as many days and had two hits with a team-best three RBI. Junior right fielder Gage Harrelson led off the game with his first homer as a Seminole as FSU never trailed in the game.

Junior center fielder Max Williams also hit a two-run shot in the third and junior shortstop Alex Lodise went yard in the sixth as part of a three-hit day.

Redshirt junior left-hander Joey Volini made his first career appearance and start at Florida State and held JMU to two hits and one unearned run in 4.2 innings. He struck out seven and walked one while earning the win. Three relievers followed him and combined to allow one run on three hits with six strikeouts and two walks in 3.1 innings.

The Seminoles (2-0) scored nine runs on 10 hits with one error to remain unbeaten on the young season. They held the Dukes (0-2) to two runs on five hits with three errors. FSU secured the series victory and improved to 8-0 all-time against JMU.

Harrelson got the game going with a long home run to right-center to lead off Florida State's bottom half of the first inning. It was his third career homer and first in an FSU uniform.

Williams extended the lead to 3-0 with a two-run blast deep over the right-field wall to score Lodise, who singled. Williams' homer was his first in 2025 and 15th of his career, all at Florida State.

Meanwhile, Volini allowed a walk in the first and a single in the second. He then tossed 1-2-3 innings in the third and fourth, with a pair of strikeouts in both.

The Seminoles added to their advantage in the bottom of the fourth inning with three runs to make it 6-0. Junior first baseman Carter McCulley led off the inning with a double, his first hit at FSU, and Faurot followed with his second home run of the weekend. The ball that just cleared the left-field fence was his 24th career homer and ninth at Florida State. The inning was capped off by an RBI groundout from Harrelson to plate Carns, who doubled for his first collegiate base hit.

James Madison got on the board in the fifth with a two-out double that was followed by a fielding error on a grounder to score the run. Junior righty Maison Martinez entered, making his Seminole debut, and quickly got out of the inning thanks to a caught-stealing from Carns to Lodise.

FSU got the run back in the bottom of the fifth to make it 7-1, as Faurot doubled to left. That plated junior designated hitter Jaxson West, who reached on a fielder's choice. Martinez then struck out two in a scoreless sixth.

Lodise sent a long home run into the parking lot in left field in the sixth to make it 9-1. The two-run blast scored Harrelson, who led off the inning with a walk.

Sophomore righty Peyton Prescott joined the list of players making their first appearance in the Garnet and Gold and pitched a clean seventh and eighth. He loaded the bases in the ninth before sophomore right-hander Chris Knier also made his FSU debut and got a double play to end it after allowing one run to score for the 9-2 final.

Seminoles Sweep Dukes with Another Shutout.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 9 Florida State baseball team shut out James Madison for the second time in three days to open the season with a series sweep thanks to a 10-0 victory in eight innings on Sunday afternoon.

Nine players had at least one hit, with six with two or more, as the Seminoles (3-0) scored 10 runs on 18 hits. FSU had just two extra-base hits and stole eight bases, the most since at least 2016. Meanwhile, the Dukes (0-3) were held scoreless on just three hits and committed two errors.

Sophomore left-hander Wes Mendes made his FSU debut and just his third career start. He earned the win and pitched a career-best 5.0 innings with eight strikeouts. Mendes allowed no runs on two hits with one walk. The 5.0 innings and eight strikeouts eclipses his previous collegiate highs of 3.0 and six, respectively, and it's just the second time in 18 career appearances that Mendes has struck out more than four batters.

In the three-game series to begin the 2025 campaign, Florida State out-scored James Madison 25-2 and out-hit the visitors 32-10. FSU improves to 8-0 in opening series under third-year head coach Link Jarrett, and the Seminoles are 9-0 all-time against the Dukes, with sweeps in 2022, 2023 and 2025.

Junior right fielder Gage Harrelson had three hits, three RBI, two runs scored and two stolen bases in the leadoff spot, and junior shortstop Alex Lodise was right behind him in the order with three hits and two RBI. Freshman first baseman Myles Bailey also had three hits, including the walk-off winner, an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base in the victory.

Mendes' day began with two strikeouts in the first inning and a nice play to throw out a runner on a bunt attempt. He fanned another two in the second before a two-out double was JMU's first hit of the game, but a lineout ended the inning.

The Seminoles took advantage of two errors in the second inning to take a 3-0 lead. All with two outs, Bailey doubled and scored on a throwing error that allowed freshman left fielder Chase Williams to reach. Harrelson then singled home Williams from second, and Lodise brought in Harrelson with a single and a fielding error.

Two more strikeouts for Mendes came in the third to tie his career high of six, and he punched out two more in the fourth to give him his collegiate-best eight.

Florida State extended its lead to 4-0 on a Lodise single in the bottom of the fourth to score Williams, who led off the frame with a single and a stolen base.

Two flyouts ended the fifth for Mendes, stranding a runner on second, which marked the conclusion of his first start and appearance as a Nole.

FSU then tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the fifth to make it 7-0. All three scored with two outs, as a Harrelson single brought home Bailey and redshirt senior Nathan Cmeyla. Harrelson then stole second and scored on a single to left by Lodise.

Sophomore left-hander Brady Louck, who got the last out of the sixth, retired the side in order in the seventh before Florida State added one more in the bottom half to make it 8-0. With one out, Williams singled in Cmeyla, who led off the inning with a single and stole second.

Louck struck out two in the eighth and left one on before the Seminoles walked it off in the bottom half.

Junior center fielder Max Williams led off the inning with a double, and he took third on freshman pinch hitter Noah Sheffield's single, his first career hit. Junior designated hitter Jaxson West lined out to score Williams on a sacrifice fly, and then Bailey brought in Sheffield with a two-out single to win it, 10-0.

No. 9 Seminoles Notch First Road Win.

TAMPA, Fla. - The No. 9 Florida State baseball team remained unbeaten on the young season with a 4-1 victory at USF on Tuesday night in Tampa, Florida.

The Seminoles (4-0) took a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning and made it 3-0 in the fifth. The Bulls (2-2) got their first run in the bottom of that inning before FSU added one in the seventh and two more in the ninth. USF added one in the ninth and had two on with one out, but could not get any closer.

Playing at the USF Baseball Stadium for the first time since 2016, FSU improved to 75-16 all-time against USF and 28-11 in Tampa. The Seminoles have won five in a row in the series and five consecutive on the road.

In front of a capacity crowd that featured a large contingent in Garnet and Gold, Florida State scored six runs on 11 hits and South Florida scored two runs on nine hits. Neither team committed an error.

Four players had two hits, including sophomore third baseman Cal Fisher and freshman left fielder Chase Williams, who both had two RBI. Junior center fielder Max Williams hit his second home run of the season, a solo blast to right-center in the fifth inning that proved to be the game-winning run.

On the mound, junior right-hander Evan Chrest, a Tampa native, made his first start and appearance at FSU and pitched 4.2 innings. He allowed one run on five hits with four strikeouts. Sophomore righty John Abraham relieved him and earned the win, with 1.1 one-hit innings with a pair of strikeouts. Fellow second-year right-hander Peyton Prescott got the final two outs of the game and earned the save, his first as a Nole and second of his career.

Chrest used a double play to get out of the first and he stranded one in the second. Freshman catcher Hunter Carns threw out a runner trying to steal second in the third inning, a frame that ended with two Chrest punch-outs.

FSU got on the board in the top of the fourth as Chase Williams hit the season's first triple that scored junior second baseman Drew Faurot and junior designated hitter Jaxson West. Chrest then left two on in the bottom of the frame after back-to-back two-out singles.

Max Williams then extended the lead to 3-0 in the fifth with his home run to right-center with one out. The Bulls made it 3-1 in the bottom half on an infield single with two outs. Abraham entered the game and got a strikeout to end the threat.

The Bulls loaded the bases in the sixth with one out, but Abraham struck out USF's No. 7 hitter and got a groundout to end the inning and preserve the two-run lead.

West singled in Max Williams in the seventh with two outs to extend the advantage to 4-1, and junior righty Ben Barrett relieved Abraham and pitched a scoreless seventh and eighth.

Fisher provided some insurance in the ninth with a two-out single that scored junior shortstop Alex Lodise and junior right fielder Gage Harrelson. The Bulls scored one in the bottom of the ninth, and had two on with one out, but Prescott entered and got the final two outs to preserve the win.

FSU Run-Rules Penn.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 9 Florida State baseball team run-ruled Penn 24-2 in seven innings on Friday at Dick Howser Stadium.

On a chilly but cloudless evening, the Seminoles (5-0) scored 24 runs on 20 hits and sent nine or more batters to the plate in four of their six innings at-bat. They scored five runs in the first, second and fifth innings and seven in the sixth. Meanwhile, FSU held the Quakers (0-1) to two unearned runs, in the sixth inning, on four hits.

Eleven players had at least one hit and six had two or more. Eleven had one or more RBI and five recorded at least two. Twelve players scored one or more runs, with seven crossing home plate multiple times. All nine starters had a hit and at least an RBI or a run scored, with six of them notching all three. Five starters, and six players total, had multiple hits and either one or more RBI or run scored, with three having multiple hits, RBI and runs scored.

Nineteen of Florida State's hits were singles.

FSU scored 20 or more runs for the first time this season and plated 24 for the first time since last season's 24-4 NCAA Super Regional victory over UConn. The 22-run margin of victory is the team's best since a 24-1 triumph over USF on March 3, 2015.

Junior second baseman Drew Faurot continued his hot start to the season with three hits, five RBI and three runs scored, all career-high-tying totals. He hit his team-leading third home run of the season, a four-run shot in the fourth inning. Junior right fielder Gage Harrelson had a collegiate-best-tying four hits, an RBI and three runs scored in the leadoff spot, while redshirt senior catcher Nathan Cmeyla notched two hits, three RBI and two runs scored. Sophomore third baseman Cal Fisher had two hits, four RBI and two runs and junior catcher Jaxson West scored three runs on two hits with an RBI. Off the bench, freshman Jace Estes had two hits and two RBI, both the firsts of his career.

On the mound, Florida State held the opposition without an earned run for the third time in five games in 2025. Junior left-hander Jamie Arnold got the start and gave up two hits with eight strikeouts in 5.0 shutout innings. He improved to 2-0 on the year. Junior righty Nick Greaney and redshirt junior lefty Jacob Marlowe both made their FSU debuts in relief. Greaney did not allow a hit in 0.2 innings and Marlowe pitched the final 1.1 and struck out two without allowing a run.

FSU jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning, as Fisher drove in two, and he scored on a fielder's choice. Freshman first baseman Myles Bailey brought home Faurot with a two-out base hit, and Meyla scored on sophomore left fielder Chase Williams' infield single.

The lead doubled in the second with another five-run frame. Fisher singled in the first run and West brought in the next. Cmeyla drove home a pair before Faurot scored on a fielder's choice to make it 10-0 with no outs.

Singles by Faurot and Cmeyla made it 12-0 after three.

The scoring in the fourth inning started with an RBI groundout to plate Harrelson, and a passed ball brought in another before Faurot homered to right. The three-run shot with one out made it 17-0.

Florida State's first 13 runs all came without an extra-base hit and the first 10 scored without the help of an error.

Penn had a single in the first and a double in the second, but then Arnold retired the next 12 batters he faced, with 1-2-3 innings in the third fourth and fifth to cap his night.

The Quakers got on the board with a pair of two-out, unearned runs in the sixth inning. The Seminoles responded with seven in the bottom half, with a bases-loaded RBI single by redshirt freshman Brody DeLamielleure getting it started, followed by a run-scoring single from Harrelson. A walk, a hit batter and a wild pitch scored three more before Estes singled up the middle to plate the final two.

Marlowe struck out two in the seventh to secure the run-rule win.

Carns' Career Day Helps Lift No. 9 FSU.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Another balanced offensive attack and strong defense helped the No. 9 Florida State baseball team to a 9-3 victory over Penn on Saturday afternoon at Dick Howser Stadium.

FSU has won six in a row to start the season, a feat it has achieved in all three years under head coach Link Jarrett. It's the first time the Seminoles have won six or more consecutively to open a season three years in a row since a five-year run from 2007-2011.

Saturday's win was fueled by freshman catcher Hunter Carns, who had a career day with four hits, his first collegiate home run and four runs scored.

As they have done every game this season, the Seminoles (6-0) jumped out to an early lead. Florida State scored two in the first, three in the second, one in the fourth, another two in the sixth and one more in the eighth. The Quakers (0-2) scored single runs in the second, fourth and seventh innings.

FSU plated its nine runs on 11 hits and Penn's three runs came on nine hits. Florida State was 6-15 (.400) with runners on and 3-10 (.300) with runners in scoring position while stranding five runners. The Quakers stranded 13 and were 4-20 (.200) with runners on base and 1-10 (.100) with runners in scoring position.

Florida State was victorious on a sun-filled afternoon in front of a sellout crowd of 6,700 fans, the third capacity crowd in the first five games at Dick Howser Stadium in 2025.

Along with Carns' 4-4 day, junior shortstop Alex Lodise had another two hits and two RBI with a home run and junior right fielder Gage Harrelson had four RBI with the help of a bases-loaded, three-RBI triple.

On the mound, redshirt junior Joey Volini improved to 2-0 on the season. In 5.2 innings, he allowed two runs on six hits with six strikeouts and one walk. The bullpen followed him and held Penn to one more run on three hits with three strikeouts in the final 3.1 innings.

Florida State scored multiple runs in the first inning for the second time in as many days, with two in the first on Saturday thanks to Lodise's second home run of the campaign. The two-run shot to right-center came with no outs and scored Harrelson.

Penn got a run back in the top of the third on an infield single, but Volini got back-to-back strikeouts to end the threat.

The Seminoles answered right back with three runs of their own in the bottom of the second thanks to a three-run, bases-clearing triple by junior right fielder Gage Harrelson. Hit down the left-field line, it scored Carns, freshman first baseman Myles Bailey and sophomore left fielder Chase Williams.

That made it 5-1 before both teams scored one in the fourth. A two-out homer in the top half was followed by Carns' leadoff home run in the bottom. The blast bounced off the scoreboard in left field as FSU made it 6-2.

Meanwhile, Volini stranded one runner on in each of the first five innings except the third, where a leaping catch on a lineout by Bailey left the bases loaded. Volini got the first two outs of the sixth before sophomore righty John Abraham relieved him and used a strikeout to end the frame.

FSU then added to its advantage in the bottom of the sixth, as a double-play groundout brought home junior second baseman Drew Faurot, and an error scored Carns.

A leadoff home run in the top of the seventh made it 8-3, and sophomore right-hander Peyton Prescott came in to get the final out with a lineout to leave the bases full. He followed with a scoreless eighth.

The Seminoles tacked on one insurance run in the bottom of the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Harrelson that scored Carns.

With a 9-3 lead in the ninth, redshirt senior Joe Charles made his season debut and got a 6-4-3 double play to end the game.

No. 9 FSU Sweeps Penn.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 9 Florida State baseball team completed a three-game sweep of Penn with a 5-3 victory on Sunday afternoon at Dick Howser Stadium.

On a cool and cloudy afternoon, with some light mid-game rain, the Seminoles (7-0) remained unbeaten to begin the season and swept their second series in as many weekends. FSU scored its five runs on nine hits with no errors, while the Quakers (0-3) were held to three runs on five hits with two errors in the final game of their season-opening series.

Florida State has won at least seven in a row to start a season in back-to-back years, the first time it has achieved that feat since the 2018 and 2019 teams began with 14- and 12-game win streaks, respectively.

Junior shortstop Alex Lodise homered in the fourth inning and scored two runs, while junior right fielder Gage Harrelson and junior center fielder Max Williams each had two hits and joined Lodise with an RBI. Harrelson also scored two runs.

On the mound, sophomore left-hander Wes Mendes improved to 2-0 on the year. In 5.0 innings, he held Penn to one run on three hits with eight strikeouts and one walk. He pitched 5.0 innings and fanned eight batters for the second consecutive start to begin the year after coming into 2025 with single-game highs of 3.0 innings pitched and six strikeouts.

Junior righty Ben Barrett got the final two outs and earned his second collegiate save and first in 2025.

The Seminoles scored multiple runs in the first inning for the third consecutive game, with two runs on Sunday. Sophomore third baseman Cal Fisher opened the scoring with a double that scored Harrelson. Junior catcher Jaxson West quickly followed with a single up the middle that brought home Lodise.

Florida State made it 4-0 in the second with another two runs. Harrelson singled in redshirt freshman left fielder Brody DeLamielleur and, with two outs, Harrelson scored on a fielder's choice grounder thanks to an error.

Mendes retired the first nine batters he faced, with one strikeout in the first, second and third innings. Two reached in the fourth on a leadoff walk and a one-out single, but Mendes struck out the next two to escape the jam.

Lodise then homered off the scoreboard in left to add to FSU's lead in the bottom of the fourth. His third long ball of the season and second in as many games made it 5-0.

Penn got on the board in the fifth with a two-out RBI double. Mendes got a strikeout to end the frame and leave a runner on, which proved to be the final batter he faced.

Junior righty Maison Martinez relieved Mendes to start the sixth. The Quakers added one run to make it 5-2, but the damage was limited. In the seventh, Penn had runners on the corners with one out, but a 4-6-3 double play ended the inning and kept the visitors' deficit to three.

The eighth saw Martinez toss a 1-2-3 inning with two strikeouts to conclude his 3.0-inning outing. In his second appearance of the season, he allowed one run on two hits with three strikeouts and two walks.

In the ninth, Barrett inherited runners on the corners with one out. He got a fielder's choice groundout on his third pitch which scored a run but also recorded the second out. Barrett then struck out a pinch hitter to end the game and preserve the 5-3 FSU win.

No. 7 Seminoles Earn Win at Jacksonville.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A three-run home run in the fifth and consecutive strikeouts with the bases loaded in the eighth helped the No. 7 Florida State baseball team to a 9-6 win at Jacksonville on Wednesday night in Jacksonville, Florida.

FSU extended its season-opening win streak to eight games and halted JU's streak at three in a row. The Seminoles have won at least eight in a row to start a season in back-to-back years, the first time they have achieved that feat since the 2018 (14) and 2019 (12) campaigns.

Redshirt freshman Brody DeLamielleure hit his first career home run in the win, a three-run blast in the fifth, and was one of five players with multiple hits. Junior right-handed starter Evan Chrest earned the victory and sophomore righty Chris Knier picked up the save, both the firsts of their FSU careers.

In front of a Garnet and Gold-filled crowd at John Sessions Stadium, the Seminoles (8-0) scored their nine runs on 16 hits while the Dolphins (3-5) plated six runs on nine hits. JU committed six errors and FSU had three.

Florida State improves to 136-42 all-time against Jacksonville and 49-28 in road games. FSU has won five in a row in the series and three consecutive at JU. The Seminoles have taken eight of the last nine against the Dolphins. The two teams will meet twice more in 2025, both in Tallahassee.

DeLamielleure had two hits, two runs scored and a game-high three RBI. Junior shortstop Alex Lodise and junior designated hitter Jaxson West both had three hits, as West drove in two and scored one run and Lodise scored twice.

Chrest improved to 1-0 in his first season as a Seminole. Making his second start, he allowed three runs on six hits with three strikeouts and two walks in 5.0 innings. Knier entered the game with one out and the bases loaded in the eighth inning and got a pair of strikeouts to keep it a two-run game. A scoreless ninth gave him his first save, as he did not allow a hit with four strikeouts and a walk in 1.2 innings.

Florida State took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning as junior right fielder Gage Harrelson scored on a bases-loaded double play groundout. He led off the game with a single as FSU scored in the first for the fourth consecutive game. It was the start of a two-hit, one-RBI, two-run day for Harrelson.

The Seminoles trailed for the first time this season when a two-run home run with one out gave the Dolphins a 2-1 advantage in the bottom of the first. Two more reached in the inning before a flyout ended the threat.

The deficit was short-lived as FSU quickly answered in the top of the second. DeLamielleure doubled and scored on a single by Harrelson and a bases-loaded walk brought in Harrelson. That made it 3-2 before JU tied it in the bottom half on an RBI groundout.

FSU regained the lead 4-3 in the fourth as Lodise scored on a one-out single by West. Chrest then retired the side in order in the bottom half on just nine pitches.

DeLamielleure's home run extended the lead to 7-3 in the fifth. A leadoff walk and single put two on with no outs for DeLamielleure, who blasted one clear over the wall in left for his first collegiate home run.

In the bottom half, Chrest stranded two for a third consecutive scoreless inning. A fielder's choice groundout ended the inning and capped his outing.

West singled, took third on a fielding error and scored on a groundout to make it 8-3 in the sixth.

Redshirt junior lefty Jacob Marlowe relieved Chrest to start the sixth. The Dolphins scored two runs, one earned, to cut the FSU lead to 8-5, but a strikeout ended the inning with one on. A two-out home run in the seventh made it 8-6.

After FSU stranded two on with one out in the top of the eighth, the favor was returned in the bottom half, only with three runners left on. An error and two walks loaded the bases before Knier relieved junior righty Ben Barrett. With the count full, Knier got the first strikeout, and then a punchout on a 2-2 pitch ended the inning without a run scoring.

The Seminoles added an insurance run in the top of the ninth. Lodise reached on an error, stole second and took third on another error before he scored on a wild pitch.

Knier secured the win - and the save - with two strikeouts in the ninth. The back-to-back punchouts left a runner on second.

Also in the victory, freshman outfielder BJ Gibson came off the bench and had two hits, the first of his collegiate career.

Weekend Begins with Ninth Consecutive Win.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 7 Florida State baseball team opened a three-game series against Georgetown with a 7-2 victory on Friday night at Dick Howser Stadium.

One of 11 teams left without a loss in 2025, FSU extended its season-opening win streak to nine games. Florida State is victorious in nine or more consecutive games to start a season in back-to-back years for first time since the 2018 (14) and 2019 (12) campaigns.

The Seminoles (9-0) took an early 2-0 lead in the third inning on junior shortstop Alex Lodise's fourth home run of the season. While the Hoyas (3-6) tied it up in the fifth, FSU responded to regain the advantage with a run in the sixth. Florida State tacked on four insurance runs in the seventh, half an inning after junior right-handed reliever Maison Martinez came in and stranded the bases loaded.

Martinez earned his first career save with 2.2 shutout innings in relief. He allowed one hit with five strikeouts and no walks. Sophomore righty John Abraham collected the win, as he did not allow a hit, struck out two and walked two in 1.1 innings. He improved to 2-0 in 2025 and 7-2 in his career. Junior left-handed starter Jamie Arnold got a no-decision, his first this season, and allowed two runs on four hits with eight strikeouts and two walks in 5.0 innings. The two runs and two walks were both the first that Arnold has allowed in 16.0 innings in 2025.

Lodise led the way offensively and had a team-high three hits, two RBI and two runs scored. Freshman first baseman Myles Bailey added two hits and one RBI in the victory.

FSU scored its seven runs on 12 hits and Georgetown plated two runs on five hits. Both teams committed an error.

Georgetown put a runner on in the first with a one-out double, but Arnold got back-to-back strikeouts to end the inning. He struck out the side in the second and stranded another in the third after a two-out walk, the first free pass the junior lefty has issued this year.

As they have done every game this season, the Seminoles scored first on Lodise's two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning. His third homer in four games scored freshman left fielder BJ Gibson, who led off the inning with a walk. One game after he notched his first collegiate hits, Gibson made his first start.

The Hoyas got on the board in the fourth with a sacrifice fly. The inning started with a leadoff double, and Arnold got a strikeout to end the frame. The visitors tied it at 2-2 in the top of the fifth as a two-out single up the middle scored one. Arnold got a lineout to end the inning, which was the final batter he faced.

Following a 1-2-3 sixth for Abraham, Florida State regained the lead in the bottom half. With one out, junior catcher Jaxson West singled down the left-field line and advanced to third on a throwing error. He scored on a sacrifice fly by junior second baseman Drew Faurot.

The Hoyas loaded the bases in the top of the seventh with one out, but Martinez came in and got a strikeout and a fielder's choice groundout to strand the maximum.

The Seminoles loaded the bases themselves in the bottom half and converted to score four runs with the help of two wild pitches to extend the lead to 7-2. With one out, the first wild pitch plated Lodise. A walk followed to put three on again for another wild pitch that brought in junior center fielder Max Williams. Another walk again loaded the bases for Bailey, who reached on an infield single that scored freshman designated hitter Hunter Carns. A groundout from Gibson brought in Faurot for the fourth and final run.

Martinez then struck out two in a perfect eighth. He added two more punchouts in the ninth to preserve the win and 2.2-inning save.

No. 7 FSU Wins 10th Straight.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Two home runs and a strong start by junior left-hander Joey Volini led the No. 7 Florida State baseball team to its 10th consecutive victory with an 11-2 win over Georgetown on Saturday afternoon.

FSU has won 10 or more to start the season for the second consecutive year, just the fourth time in program history the Seminoles have achieved that back-to-back feat, along with 1971-72, 2007-08 and 2018-19. Florida State is one of 10 NCAA Division I teams left unbeaten in 2025.

The Seminoles (10-0) scored 11 runs on 15 hits, with the help of home runs from junior center fielder Max Williams and freshman first baseman Myles Bailey. Volini and four relievers held the Hoyas (3-7) to two runs on three hits. GU committed three errors.

Volini struck out 11 batters in 6.0 shutout innings, both career bests. He gave up no runs on two hits and walked one. Volini retired the first seven batters he faced and the last seven, with six of his last seven outs via the strikeout. As he improved to 3-0 in his debut season at FSU, Volini surpassed previous career highs of 5.2 innings pitched and nine strikeouts.

Already ahead 3-0 - Florida State has scored first in all 10 games this season - Bailey hit his first career home run in the fourth inning, a two-run shot. Williams followed with a two-run home run of his own in the sixth inning, his third in 2025 and 17th of his career.

Williams and Bailey were two of four Noles with two hits, and they both had two RBI and Bailey scored two runs. Junior shortstop Alex Lodise and junior designated hitter Jaxson West also had two hits. Sophomore third baseman Cal Fisher drove in a pair.

The Seminoles took a 3-0 lead in the third inning. Sophomore Chase Williams led off the frame with an infield single, then stole second and took third on an infield bunt single by junior right fielder Gage Harrelson. Lodise then doubled down the left-field line to score Williams, and Fisher brought home both Harrelson and Lodise with a two-RBI single up the middle.

Bailey's long two-run home run to right-center made it 5-0 in the fourth. The first-pitch no-doubter scored junior second baseman Drew Faurot, who led off the inning with a walk.

Meanwhile, Volini retired the first seven batters he faced with four strikeouts. He left two on in the third thanks to an inning-ending strikeout, and stranded one more in the fourth, again with a punchout to end the frame. Volini struck out the side in the fifth and fanned two in a 1-2-3 sixth to conclude his night.

Florida State added to its lead with four in the sixth to make it 9-0. The inning started with back-to-back hits before a throwing error on a fielder's choice scored Bailey and Chase Williams. With two outs, Max Williams then homered to right-center to score Harrelson and cap the inning.

Sophomore left-hander Brady Louck pitched the seventh and did not allow a hit. Two walks and a hit batter loaded the bases, but a groundout ended the frame.

Freshman left fielder BJ Gibson singled home freshman pinch hitter Jace Estes in the bottom of the seventh to extend the lead to 10-0.

Redshirt freshman lefty Payton Manca then came in to make his collegiate debut and fired a scoreless eighth.

FSU added one more in the bottom of the eighth as redshirt senior catcher Nathan Cmeyla doubled in freshman third baseman Noah Sheffield.

The Hoyas scored two in the ninth on a two-run home run before junior right-hander Nick Greaney came in and got the final three outs.

Late Runs Power No. 7 FSU to Series Sweep, 11th Win.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - A two-run seventh and one-run eighth helped the No. 7 Florida State baseball team to a 4-3 victory and series sweep of Georgetown on Sunday afternoon at Dick Howser Stadium.

With their 11th consecutive win, the Seminoles have won 11 or more to start a season in back-to-back years for just the third time in program history, with 2024-25 joining 2018-19 and 2007-08. FSU is one of eight NCAA Division I teams left unbeaten in 2025.

Florida State never trailed in the game, but for the first time this season it was tied after six innings and late-inning runs were needed. FSU scored two in the seventh to take the lead, and another one in the eighth to regain the advantage again, before closing it out in the ninth.

The Seminoles (11-0) scored four runs on nine hits with one error and the Hoyas (3-8) were held to three runs on eight hits with two errors.

The weekend sweep is Florida State's third in as many series to begin the 2025 campaign.

Sophomore right-handed reliever Peyton Prescott got his first win, retiring all four batters he faced in 1.1 innings with one strikeout. He entered in the eighth and got a line-out to end the inning after Georgetown had scored two to tie it. Sophomore left-handed starter Wes Mendes had another strong outing and did not allow a run on three hits with eight strikeouts and one walk in 5.0 innings. Mendes has struck out a career-high eight batters in all three starts in 2025.

Offensively, junior right fielder Gage Harrelson had two hits and three RBI to lead the team as he extended his hit streak to 11 consecutive games. A pair of freshmen, first baseman Myles Bailey and left fielder BJ Gibson, also each had two hits, with Bailey driving in the winning run and Gibson scoring once. Junior shortstop Alex Lodise also had a hit to extend his hit streak to 10 games.

As they have done every game this season, the Seminoles scored first with a run in the second. With the bases loaded and one out, Harrelson reached on a fielder's choice that scored junior second baseman Drew Faurot.

For Mendes, two reached in the first, but freshman catcher Hunter Carns threw out a runner attempting to steal second to help the sophomore lefty strand one in the opening frame. Mendes was perfect in the second and left one on in the third. He struck out two in the fourth, with the second ending the inning and leaving a runner on third.

Mendes fanned two more to cap his outing in a 1-2-3 fifth inning.

FSU put two on with one out in the fifth, but a hard-hit double play lineout and a groundout ended the threat.

Georgetown tied the game with a one-out solo home run off the Florida State bullpen in the top of the sixth to make it 1-1.

The Hoyas threatened to take the lead in the top of the seventh, but junior right-hander Ben Barrett came in with no outs and two on and got a strikeout and groundout to end the inning and leave runners on second and third.

The Seminoles quickly responded to take the lead in the bottom of the inning, as Harrelson drove in two with the bases loaded to make it 3-1. Two walks and a single awaited Harrelson with no outs, and a single through the left side brought in Faurot and Gibson Jr.

Georgetown answered to re-tie the contest in the top of the eighth with two runs. The first came on an RBI single with runners on second and third and the second on a groundout. Prescott relieved Barrett and got a lineout to end the threat and leave a runner on second.

Florida State had an answer of its own in the bottom of the eighth, as Bailey singled home junior designated hitter Jaxson West with two outs. West led off the frame with a walk, took second on a base hit and was on third after a fielder's choice. He scored the go-ahead run, and eventual winning run, on Bailey's base hit to center to make it 4-3.

In the ninth, Prescott fired a 1-2-3 inning and got a swinging strikeout to finish off the win. He improved to 6-6 in his career while collecting his first victory as a Seminole.

No. 6 Noles Extend Streak with Nine-Run Win.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 6 Florida State baseball team won its 12 consecutive game with a 10-1 victory over North Florida on Tuesday night at Dick Howser Stadium in Tallahassee, Florida.

FSU improves to 12-0 on the season and is one of six teams without a loss in 2025. The Seminoles are 12-0 or better to start a campaign in back-to-back years for the third time in team history, as 2024-25 joins unbeaten starts in 2007-08 and 2018-19.

Freshman first baseman Myles Bailey hit two home runs, junior right-handed starter Evan Chrest had a strong outing to earn the win and the defense made several fine plays, including a highlight-worthy play by junior shortstop Alex Lodise.

Florida State scored in the first inning and never looked back, taking a 2-0 lead after one and answering a one-run second for UNF with the next eight unanswered. FSU improved to 13-4 all-time against North Florida and 12-2 at home.

The Seminoles (12-0) scored 10 runs on 14 hits and the Ospreys (7-6) were held to one run on four hits with two errors.

Bailey homered twice, the second and third long balls of his career after he hit his first home run two games ago. He was one of six Seminoles with two hits and led the team with three RBI. He also scored twice, one of three Noles to do so. At the top of the order, junior right fielder Gage Harrelson and junior shortstop Alex Lodise each had two hits to extend their 12- and 11-game hit streaks, respectively. Lodise drove in a run and scored twice and Harrelson scored one run.

On the mound, Chrest made his third start and improved to 2-0 on the season. In a season-long 6.0 innings, he allowed just one run on four hits with three strikeouts and a walk. He retired eight of nine batters from the second-fifth innings, and 13 of the final 14 batters he faced got out, with another thrown out attempting to steal second.

The bullpen followed Chrest and allowed just two baserunners with three strikeouts in 3.0 innings.

For the 12th consecutive game to begin the season, Florida State scored first, with two runs in the first inning. Harrelson led off the frame with a double and scored on a sacrifice fly by sophomore third baseman Cal Fisher, and Lodise was right behind him on an RBI groundout.

North Florida got one run back to make it 2-1 in the second on a two-out RBI double, but a groundout ended the inning.

Bailey's first home run came with one out in the second, and Harrelson added a run-scoring single, as freshman left fielder BJ Gibson crossed home thanks to an error. That made it a 4-1 ballgame.

Including the final out of the top of the seventh, Chrest retired eight of nine batters, with a perfect fourth inning.

A Lodise sacrifice fly scored Gibson Jr. to extend the lead to 5-1.

Chrest faced the minimum in the fifth, with the help of a runner caught stealing, junior catcher Jaxson West to Lodise.

Bailey's second homer, a two-run blast to left, scored freshman designated hitter Hunter Carns and pushed the advantage to 7-1. The two-out shot came after Carns walked.

A 1-2-2 sixth inning, on just five pitches, marked the end of Chrest's outing. The highlight of the inning, and contending with Bailey for highlight of the night, was a fantastic play on a ground ball by Lodise, as he fielded a grounder well to his right, turned and threw the runner out at first.

The Seminoles made it 8-1 in the bottom of the sixth when junior center fielder Max Williams singled home Lodise, who led off the frame with a double. Williams also had two hits in the contest.

Redshirt senior lefty Connor Hults relieved Chrest to start the seventh and fired a 1-2-3 inning with a strikeout to end it. He put two on with no outs in the eighth, but did a nice job to work around the jam and get a strikeout and a double-play groundout to end the threat.

FSU added two more in the bottom of the eighth, first with an RBI single up the middle by junior second baseman Drew Faurot that scored junior third baseman Carter McCulley, who led off the inning with a walk. With one out, redshirt senior pinch hitter Nathan Cmeyla scored an unearned run on a throwing error. Faurot and Gibson Jr. also had a pair of hits in the game.

Redshirt senior right-hander Joe Charles took over in the ninth and retired the side in order to complete the 10-1 victory.

Williams' Career Day Powers No. 6 FSU.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - A four-run first inning helped lead the No. 6 Florida State baseball team to a 9-7 victory over Bethune-Cookman on Wednesday evening at Dick Howser Stadium in Tallahassee, Florida.

FSU remains unbeaten on the year with a 13-0 record, one of six teams without a defeat in 2025. For the first time in program history, the Seminoles have started back-to-back seasons at 13-0 or better, with this year's mark going along with a 19-0 start to the 2024 campaign. Florida State had two back-to-back years of 12-0 starts or better before the current two-year run eclipsed that, in 2007-08 and 2018-19.

In the second game of a two-game midweek, and five-game week, the Seminoles (13-0) scored nine runs on 10 hits with two errors. They held the Wildcats (6-7) to seven runs on 12 hits with no errors. FSU improved to 9-0 all-time against BC, all at home.

Junior center fielder Max Williams hit his team-high-tying fourth home run. He had a career-best five RBI and a career-high-tying four hits with two runs scored in five at-bats. He also made a fantastic catch in center field to round out the night.

Junior right fielder Gage Harrelson and junior shortstop Alex Lodise also both had hits, as Harrelson extended his hit streak to 13 consecutive games and Lodise's reached 12 with a three-hit, one RBI day.

On the mound, redshirt freshman left-hander Payton Manca made his second collegiate appearance and first start. In 2.1 innings, he allowed one run on two hits with three strikeouts and a walk. He earned the victory, his first. Sophomore righty Chris Knier got the final three outs and picked up his second save. He didn't allow a hit with two strikeouts and two walks.

The Seminoles jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning. The scoring began with a two-RBI double by Williams, as he drove in Harrelson and Lodise. Still with no outs, junior designated hitter Jaxson West singled home Williams and junior third baseman Carter McCulley drove in redshirt senior Nathan Cmeyla with a one-out sacrifice fly.

Manca retired the side in order in the second, just as he had in the first. He allowed a run in the third on a one-out RBI single to make it 4-1. Sophomore right-hander John Abraham relieved Manca and got a double play groundout to end the inning and leave a runner on.

BC added two more runs in the second on back-to-back two-out home runs to cut the lead to one, at 4-3.

Florida State answered right back with a four-run bottom of the fourth to make it 8-3. Freshman first baseman Myles Bailey led off the inning with a double and scored on a single by Lodise. Williams then drilled a three-run home run to right. The 427-foot blast scored freshman left fielder BJ Gibson and Lodise.

The Wildcats got a run back in the top of the fifth on a two-out RBI single. Junior right-hander Maison Martinez relieved Abraham with two on and two outs and got a strikeout to end the threat and keep it an 8-4 game. Martinez then loaded the bases in the sixth but got a strikeout to end the inning and prevent any runs from scoring.

FSU also loaded the bases in the sixth, but the Seminoles were able to convert with a bases-loaded walk with two outs, as junior second baseman Drew Faurot got the free-pass RBI and plated Harrelson.

Martinez stranded two more in the seventh, again with a strikeout to end it. He capped his 3.1-inning night with a perfect eighth inning. Martinez did not allow a run on three hits with five strikeouts and no walks in his appearance.

In the ninth, Bethune-Cookman led off the inning with a double, single and three-run home run to cut the Florida State lead to two, at 9-7. Sophomore righty Chris Knier then came in and got the final three outs, with a strikeout looking on an 0-2 pitch to finish the win with runners on first and second.

Fisher, Volini Lead Noles Past Lipscomb.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Redshirt junior Joey Volini matched a career high with 11 strikeouts and sophomore third baseman Cal Fisher had three extra-base hits - including a sixth-inning grand slam - to lead Florida State (14-0) to a 10-1 win over Lipscomb (4-9) Friday evening at Dick Howser Stadium. The Seminoles are one of four remaining undefeated teams in the nation.

For the second consecutive game, Volini (4-0) struck out 11 batters, the most for a Seminole this season. Over a career-high 7.0 innings, he allowed six hits and one run, a solo home run in the second inning. In the seventh, Volini needed just 10 pitches to strike out the side.

Fisher led the Seminole offense, finishing 3-for-5 with two doubles and his first career grand slam. Knotted at 4-1 since the second inning, Fisher's slam pushed the Florida State lead to 8-1 and put the game out of reach.

Max Williams, Gage Harrelson and Myles Bailey each had a pair of hits for Florida State. Williams added his team-high fifth home run of the season in the eighth inning.

Shortstop Alex Lodise added two RBI, Harrelson scored a pair of runs and nine-hole hitter BJ Gibson drew three walks.

No. 6 Noles Stay Unbeaten, Clinch Series vs. Lipscomb.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - No. 6 Florida State improved to 15-0 with an 11-5 win over Lipscomb (4-10) Saturday afternoon in front of 4,157 fans at Dick Howser Stadium. Starting pitcher Wes Mendes went 5.1 innings, striking out a career-high 11 batters. Through four starts, Mendes is 3-0 with a 0.89 ERA and 35 strikeouts in 20.1 innings pitched.

Florida State scored early and often in support of Mendes, taking a 10-0 lead into the sixth inning. Drew Faurot had three hits, scored two runs, drew a walk and knocked in four RBI to lead FSU with 19 RBI on the year. In the nine-hole, Hunter Carns added a pair of hits and three RBI, including his second home run of the season.

Hitting in the five-spot for the first time in his career, freshman Myles Bailey set a career high with four hits to extend his hitting streak to seven games. In that span, the first baseman is hitting 15-for-27 with eight RBI and nine runs scored.

A day after earning three extra-base hits - including Florida State's first grand slam of the season - third baseman Cal Fisher hit a double and a solo home run, his second of the season.

Gage Harrelson and Alex Lodise both doubled in the contest, extending their hitting streaks to 15 and 14 games, respectively.

The Bisons scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to avoid the run-rule decision.

Redshirt freshman James Hankerson Jr. earned his first career hit, a double in the eighth inning.

Due to impending weather and a travel curfew, Florida State baseball's Sunday game against Lipscomb has been canceled.

No. 5 FSU Suffers First Loss.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 5 Florida State baseball team suffered its first loss of the season, 7-2 to No. 7 Florida on Tuesday night at Dick Howser Stadium in Tallahassee, Florida.

The defeat snapped FSU's 15-game win streak to begin the season, tied for the fourth-longest in team history. The Seminoles were one of two unbeaten teams left in the country entering Tuesday's contest.

Facing its first ranked opponent of the season, Florida State (15-1) was held to a season-low two runs on six hits with one error. Florida (16-2) scored seven runs on eight hits with no errors. FSU did not score first for the first time this season and trailed for only the second time, along with a half-inning deficit on February 26 at Jacksonville.

With the loss, the Seminoles saw their three-game win streak against the Gators come to an end. FSU holds a 134-128-1 lead in the all-time series and a 72-43-1 advantage in Tallahassee. Tuesday was the first top-10 matchup between the two in-state foes since March 12, 2019, when No. 6 Florida State traveled to No. 7 UF.

Junior second baseman Drew Faurot and freshman first baseman Myles Bailey both homered in the game, their team-high-tying fourth in 2025. It was Faurot's 25th career long ball. Junior right fielder Gage Harrelson led the team with two hits to extend his hit streak to a career-best 16 games, as he has hit safely in every game of his FSU career. Junior shortstop Alex Lodise saw his career-best 14-game hit streak snapped, but his reached-base streak was extended to 15 games.

Junior right-handed starter Evan Chrest suffered his first loss and is 2-1.

Florida took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a two-out single. That scored an unearned run, as a leadoff hit batter was followed by a throwing error on a failed pickoff attempt to put the runner at second.

UF made it 4-0 in the fifth. A sacrifice fly brought in the first run, followed by an RBI double that ricochetted off the first base bag and a two-out run-scoring single.

The Seminoles got a run back in the bottom of the fifth, as Faurot homered off the top of the wall down the left-field line. The solo shot came with two outs.

Redshirt senior right-hander Joe Charles came on in relief in the top of the sixth inning and got three outs to strand runners on second and third to keep it a three-run game.

A two-run home run in the seventh added to the Gators' lead to make it 6-1. After FSU left two on in the bottom of the seventh, UF scored one in the eighth on a bases-loaded groundout. The visitors loaded the bases with no outs in the inning but were held to one run by redshirt freshman left-hander Payton Manca and sophomore righty Chris Knier.

Bailey homered to right with one out in the ninth, but the solo home run was the last run for a 7-2 final.

Faurot and Volini Power No. 5 FSU to ACC-Opening Win.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - A two-home run day for junior second baseman Drew Faurot and another strong start by redshirt junior left-handed starter Joey Volini helped the No. 5 Florida State baseball team to an 8-2 victory over Boston College to begin ACC play on Friday night at Dick Howser Stadium.

Faurot hit his fifth and team-leading sixth home runs of the season while junior shortstop Alex Lodise and freshman first baseman Myles Bailey also homered, the fifth of the season for both. Volini gave up just one unearned run on four hits in 6.0 innings to back up the four-homer offensive attack. He improved to a team-best 5-0 in 2025.

In their ACC opener and coming off their first loss of the season, the Seminoles (16-1, 1-0 ACC) scored eight runs on 14 hits with one error. The Eagles (7-7, 2-2 ACC) were held to two runs on six hits with no errors while commencing their second league series of the campaign.

As it has done in all 16 wins this year, FSU scored first and never looked back, with two in the second and third before BC got one in the fourth. Florida State answered right back with two more in the bottom of the inning before adding solo insurance runs in the seventh and eighth. Boston College's second and final tally came in the ninth.

In 6.0 innings, Volini struck out eight batters with two walks. He allowed four hits and the lone fourth-inning run was unearned. Sophomore right-hander Peyton Prescott relieved Volini to start the seventh and gave up just one hit with a walk and three strikeouts in 2.0 innings.

Faurot's career-high-tying two home runs powered a three-hit, two-RBI day. Lodise and Bailey also had two RBI, with Lodise and junior right fielder Gage Harrelson each recording two hits. Junior designated hitter Jaxson West added three hits of his own. Harrelson's fifth-inning single extended his hit streak to a career-best 17 consecutive games.

Friday was the team's annual Seminole Heritage game, where Florida State celebrated its long-standing relationship with the Seminole Tribe of Florida.

FSU took a 2-0 lead in the second inning as Faurot hit his first home run, a solo shot to right with one out. Two base hits later, runners were on the corners when a wild pitch scored freshman catcher Hunter Carns.

The Seminoles doubled the lead the next inning thanks to Bailey's two-run shot into the left-field bullpen. The fifth home run of his career came with one out and scored junior center fielder Max Williams, who led off the inning with a walk.

Just before that in the top of the third, Volini put runners on second and third with no outs. The southpaw proceeded to strike out the next three batters he faced to escape the jam. BC did get on the board in the fourth, as a throwing error on a stolen base attempt brought home an unearned run to make it 4-1.

Lodise quickly answered with two more runs for the Seminoles thanks to his two-run blast over the wall in right. While making it 6-1, Harrelson scored after he was hit by a pitch to lead off the frame. Lodise's homer was his fifth in 2025 and team-leading 30th in his career.

Volini fired a 1-2-3 fifth inning with two strikeouts and struck out another two in the sixth to conclude his night.

A fantastic double play turned from Faurot to Lodise to Bailey helped Prescott face the minimum in the seventh. In the bottom half, sophomore third baseman Cal Fisher doubled with two outs to plate Harrelson to extend the advantage to 7-1.

Prescott got an inning-ending strikeout in the eighth after a hit batter and a walk put two on with two outs. That final K marked the end of his two-inning outing. Faurot then added one more insurance run in the bottom half to make it 8-1. His solo home run to lead off the frame was his sixth of the season and 27th of his career.

Boston College scored one in the ninth, but a strikeout ended the game and gave the Seminoles their 8-2 win to begin the league season.

Noles Run-Rule Eagles to Begin Doubleheader.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 5 Florida State baseball team secured a series win and won the first game of the doubleheader with a 14-0 shutout win in seven innings over Boston College on Saturday afternoon.

Junior left-handed starter Jamie Arnold had a strong return to the mound as the offense scored multiple runs in five of its six innings. Freshman first baseman Myles Bailey homered for the third consecutive game and the sixth time this season and junior right fielder Gage Harrelson hit his second home run in 2025 and fourth of his career.

FSU won its fifth consecutive series to begin the year and will go for the series sweep in the second game of today's doubleheader. Florida State has swept its first four series, and this weekend marks the team's first ACC set of the year.

The Seminoles (17-1, 2-0 ACC) scored 14 runs on 16 hits with no errors. The Eagles (7-8, 2-3 ACC) were held to just two hits and committed one error. Eleven of Florida State's 14 runs came with two outs.

The victory is FSU's third shutout and third run-rule victory of the 2025 campaign. The previous two occurrences of each event took place in the first five games of the season.

Harrelson and junior shortstop Alex Lodise both had four hits and Harrelson had four RBI. Lodise drove in three runs, as did Bailey. Junior catcher Jaxson West drove in two runs and had a pair of base hits. Harrelson's day extended his career-long hit streak to 18 consecutive games, as he has hit safely every game in 2025.

On the mound, Arnold did not allow a run in 4.2 innings. He struck out eight, walked two and gave up one hit. He earned the win to improve to 3-0 on the season while throwing 79 pitches. Sophomore right-hander Chris Knier pitched the final 2.1 innings to complete the shutout. He also held BC to one hit with three strikeouts and no walks.

Florida State took a 3-0 lead in the first inning on Bailey's two-out, three-run home run. The Seminoles added another three in the second, as Lodise ripped a bases-clearing double down the left-field line. The one-out hit scored three and made it 6-0.

Meanwhile, Arnold struck out the first four batters he faced and left one runner on in the second. He loaded the bases with no outs in the third, but got a lineout double play and a groundout to end the inning and strand two in scoring position.

The FSU offense answered with another two runs in the third to extend the lead to 8-0. Harrelson singled up the middle to score both runners, and it was another two-out hit that did the damage. West made it 10-0 in the fourth with a two-RBI double, again with two outs.

Arnold concluded his outing with two strikeouts in the top of the fifth. Including the double play for the first two outs of the third, Arnold retired eight in a row to finish his day. Knier relieved him in the fifth and got a flyout to end the frame.

For the only time in the game, the Seminoles were held off the scoreboard in the fifth, but they made up for it with a four-run sixth inning. Two unearned runs scored on a fielding error and Harrelson followed with a two-run homer to right. All four runs were unearned and came with two outs.

Knier closed out the seven-inning win with a one-two-three seventh inning.

No. 5 FSU Sweeps Series and Doubleheader over BC.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 5 Florida State baseball team completed a three-game sweep of Boston College with a 6-2 victory on Saturday in the second game of a doubleheader at Dick Howser Stadium.

The Seminoles swept their first ACC series of the season and notched their fifth sweep in as many series to begin the 2025 campaign. The team has won three in a row after a 15-game unbeaten streak was snapped on Tuesday.

After a 14-0, seven-inning run-rule win in Saturday's opener, FSU scored three in the first inning of Saturday's nightcap and never looked back. Florida State added insurance runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth as sophomore left-handed starter Wes Mendes did not allow an earned run in a career-long 7.0+ innings.

The Seminoles (18-1, 3-0 ACC) scored their six runs on 10 hits while the Eagles (7-9, 2-4 ACC) were held to two runs on five hits. Both teams committed one error.

Mendes allowed just one unearned run in his seven innings to improve to 4-0 on the season. He gave up four hits and struck out eight with no walks. Junior right-hander Maison Martinez pitched the final 2.0 and earned his second save. He gave up one run on one hit with three strikeouts and no walks. This was the first time this year FSU's pitchers did not walk a batter.

Offensively, junior center fielder Max Williams hit two home runs as part of a three-hit, three-RBI day. He added two runs scored in four at-bats. Three other players had a hit and an RBI, including junior second baseman Drew Faurot, who homered in the eighth. Junior shortstop Alex Lodise had a pair of base hits.

Williams was the second Seminole to homer twice in a game this series after Faurot achieved the feat in Friday's series opener. The duo both have a team-high-tying seven home runs in 2025. Faurot has 28 long balls in his career and Williams has hit 21.

Junior right fielder Gage Harrelson was held without a hit for the first time this season, as he saw his career-long hit streak come to an end at 18 consecutive games. It's the third-longest streak by an FSU player in the last 10 years.

Williams got the scoring started in the first with a two-run home run to right-center that brought in Lodise. Sophomore third baseman Cal Fisher scored the third run of the frame when he came home on a sacrifice fly by junior catcher Jaxson West.

Mendes was perfect in the first, needing just six pitches to retire BC. He struck out the side in the second and faced the minimum in the third with the help of a double play groundout that he began. Mendes continued to face the minimum with a nine-pitch fourth inning.

Boston College got on the board in the fifth on a dropped third strike, with an error on the throw to first resulting in an unearned run scoring. That made it 3-1 before Mendes threw out a runner attempting to steal third to end the threat and leave one stranded.

FSU added its first insurance run in the sixth when redshirt freshman left fielder Brody DeLamielleure singled up the middle to plate West. Williams' second home run made it 5-1 in the seventh, as his solo shot to left came with two outs.

A leadoff double opened the eighth and Martinez relieved Mendes. The righty struck out all three batters he faced to leave the runner on third. In the bottom of the eighth, Faurot launched his third home run in two days to center to give the Seminoles a 6-1 lead.

A double-play groundout scored a run in the ninth, but Martinez got a lineout to finish off the win.

Seminoles Fall to Mercer.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 5 Florida State baseball team lost to Mercer 9-3 on Tuesday evening at Dick Howser Stadium.

The game concluded a 12-game homestand and a season-opening stretch where 18 of FSU's first 20 games were played at home.

The Seminoles (18-2) scored three runs on three hits. The Bears (15-7) plated nine runs on nine hits. Both teams committed one error.

Junior center fielder Max Williams hit his team-leading eighth home run of the season in the sixth inning. It was the 22nd long ball of his career and his third in the last two games. Williams was one of three players with a hit and had three RBI. Freshman left-hander Payton Manca made his second career start and falls to 1-1 on the season.

Mercer took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a two-run home run and added one run in the second on an RBI groundout. Three in the third, on a groundout and two-run home run, made it 6-0. The bullpen held the Bears scoreless in the fourth and fifth before one crossed in the sixth on a bases-loaded walk to extend the lead to 7-0.

The Seminoles got on the board in the sixth on Williams' home run to right. The 407-foot shot scored junior right fielder Gage Harrelson and junior shortstop Alex Lodise and made it a four-run game at 7-3.

The Bears got one run back in the seventh on a wild pitch to make it 8-3. A scoreless eighth came before a one-run ninth, as a throwing error led to the final run and a 9-3 game.

Volini, Homers Help No. 5 FSU Run-Rule Miami.

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - A complete game by redshirt junior left-hander Joey Volini and six home runs powered the No. 5 Florida State baseball team to a 14-1 win at Miami in seven innings on Thursday night.

FSU earned its fourth run-rule win of the season and its second in ACC play in less than a week. The offense hit a team-high six home runs as junior shortstop Alex Lodise and freshman catcher Hunter Carns both hit two. Meanwhile, Volini turned in Florida State's first complete game of any length since 2018.

The Seminoles (19-2, 4-0 ACC) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and added another five in the fourth, half an inning after the Hurricanes (13-10, 0-4 ACC) scored their lone run. Florida State tallied three more in the sixth and another three in the seventh to secure the victory. FSU's 14 runs came on 14 hits and UM was held to a run on two hits.

Volini's complete game is the first by a Seminole in a game of seven or fewer innings since May 12, 2018, and it's the first complete game of any length by an FSU pitcher since just two weeks later, May 25, 2018. As he continued his strong start to the season, Volini allowed one run, a solo homer to lead off the third, on just two hits, both in the third. He struck out nine, walked one and threw 79 pitches.

Lodise homered twice as part of a four-hit, five RBI day with three runs scored in five at-bats. It was his sixth home run in 2025 and team-leading 31st of his career. Carns doubled his career home run total to four with a two-hit, two-RBI and two-run performance. Junior center fielder Max Williams and freshman first baseman Myles Bailey also homered, as Williams had two hits and three RBI and Bailey had two hits and two runs scored. Williams' shot was his team-best ninth on the season - and fourth in the last three games - and the 23rd this year. Bailey's long ball was his seventh in 2025.

With the win to begin the three-game series at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field, the Seminoles improved to 163-136-4 all-time against the Hurricanes. In Coral Gables, FSU has evened the series at 72-72-3 with the team's first road win in the rivalry since a 12-0 shutout in 2021. Florida State has won four in a row against Miami.

FSU scored first for the 19th time and plated a run in the first inning for the 11th time through 21 games. Thursday's hot start was courtesy of Williams, who hit his two-run home run just inside the right field foul pole. He scored junior right fielder Gage Harrelson, who led off the game with a single to commence a two-hit, one-RBI, four-run outing.

Bailey then launched a 438-foot blast over the batter's eye in center field. The two-out shot made it 3-0.

Volini stranded a runner in the bottom of the first and needed 11 pitches to retire the side in order in the second. A solo home run in the third made it 3-1, but Volini got a strikeout and a groundout double play to end the inning and limit the damage. Despite the two hits - the only two Volini surrendered on the day - the southpaw threw just 12 pitches in the inning.

Half an inning later, the Florida State offense answered the one run scored by Miami by batting around and scoring five runs to turn a 3-1 game into an 8-1 affair. A run-scoring single by junior designated hitter Jaxson West brought in the first run. With two outs, Harrelson, Lodise and Williams singled home three more and the final run crossed home after junior second baseman Drew Faurot reached on an error.

A six-pitch inning for Volini followed in the bottom of the fourth, and a double play groundout ended the fifth as he needed nine pitches to face the minimum.

Carns and Lodise both homered in the sixth and seventh, as the Seminoles scored three insurance runs in each frame to get the needed total for the run-rule win. Carns led off the sixth with his first that traveled 439 feet to left-center, and Lodise's sixth-inning shot was a two-run blast to right.

The bottom of the sixth began with a seven-pitch groundout to the leadoff batter, but Volini needed just five more to retire the side.

In the seventh, Carns and Lodise's home runs both came with two outs, as Carns hit the scoreboard and Lodise's shot went to right-center, scoring Harrelson for a second consecutive inning.

Volini finished off the win by striking out the side in the seventh, achieving the feat by throwing 15 pitches.

Late Rally Comes up Short in Miami.

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - The No. 5 Florida State baseball team's late rally came up short in a 9-6 loss at Miami on Friday night in Coral Gables, Florida.

FSU scored four runs on seven hits in the final two innings and sent the tying run to the plate in the ninth with one out, but it was not enough. The late scores came after UM led 4-2 after three innings and 8-2 after five. The three-game series between the two in-state rivals is evened at one win apiece ahead of Saturday night's finale.

The Seminoles (19-3, 5-1 ACC) suffered their first conference loss, and they were the last ACC team to drop a game in league play. It also was FSU's first loss away from home in 2025 and the team's first weekend defeat. Florida State lost for the first time when scoring first and scoring in the first inning, as the Seminoles are now 19-1 when plating the game's first run and 11-1 when getting a run in the opening inning.

FSU scored its six runs on 12 hits and committed two errors. The Hurricanes (14-10, 1-4 ACC) scored nine runs on nine hits with one error.

With the loss, Florida State is 163-137-4 all-time against Miami and 72-73-3 in Coral Gables. The defeat snapped a four-game win streak against the Hurricanes, the longest stretch for either team since a five-game run for the Seminoles from 2019-21.

Redshirt freshman left fielder Brody DeLamielleure led the team with three hits, two RBI and two runs scored. He hit his second career home run, both coming in two of FSU's first four road games to begin the 2025 season. Junior shortstop Alex Lodise had two hits, two RBI and a run scored.

Junior left-handed starter Jamie Arnold suffered his first loss of the season and is 3-1. In 4.0 innings, he allowed seven runs, six earned, on seven hits with two strikeouts and three walks. The bullpen allowed two runs, one earned, on two hits in the final 4.0 innings.

The Seminoles took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, as freshman first baseman Myles Bailey drew a bases-loaded walk. The Hurricanes tied it in the bottom half on a sacrifice fly. FSU answered in the second on DeLamielleure's leadoff home run, but UM responded with two in the bottom of the inning to make it 3-2, with a leadoff home run and a fielder's choice groundout.

Miami extended its lead to 4-2 in the third on a two-out double before Arnold retired the side in the fourth. The Canes made it 7-2 with a three-run fifth on an RBI double and a two-run single.

After a scoreless sixth, a solo home run in the seventh extended Miami's lead to 8-2.

Florida State got two runs back in the eighth inning thanks to a two-out single by Lodise. The base hit to left scored DeLamielleure and freshman designated hitter Hunter Carns, both who reached with two-out hits. A flyout ended the inning with FSU down four, 8-4.

UM scored one in the eighth on a sacrifice fly to make it 9-4, but a strikeout ended the inning.

In the ninth, FSU brought in two runs on four hits and loaded the bases twice. The first run came when DeLamielleure singled to center to score junior second baseman Drew Faurot. Then, a fielder's choice by Carns, with the help of a throwing error, brought in one unearned run. With a 9-5 game, two outs and runners on second and third, a strikeout to the potential game-tying run ended the game.

No. 5 Seminoles Win Series at Miami.

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - A seven-run fourth inning and 5.0 shutout innings by relievers helped the No. 5 Florida State baseball team to a series-clinching, 10-6 victory at Miami on Saturday night in Coral Gables, Florida.

The Seminoles (20-3, 5-1 ACC) won their sixth consecutive series to begin the season, their second in ACC play and their first overall on the road. They have won back-to-back series to open conference play for the first time since 2022, and are 5-1 or better to start league competition for the first time since 2016.

After the teams traded runs in the first two innings, FSU's offense came through with seven in the fourth inning to turn a 3-2 deficit into a 9-3 lead. The Hurricanes (14-11, 1-5 ACC) answered with three in the bottom of the fourth, but the bullpen, led by sophomore right-hander Peyton Prescott, gave up just two hits with eight strikeouts in the final 5.0 innings to secure the win and road series victory.

In front of a sellout crowd in South Florida, many of them supporting the Garnet and Gold, FSU scored 10 runs on 13 hits with no errors. Eleven of the team's 13 hits were singles, with one home run and one double. UM's six runs came on eight hits with three errors.

Florida State improves to 164-137-4 all-time against Miami and evened the series again at 73-73-3 on the road. FSU has won five of the last six in the in-state rivalry series.

Prescott earned the win to improve to 2-0 in 2025 and 7-6 in his career. In a season-long 4.0 innings, he allowed just two hits with a season-high seven strikeouts and two walks. Prescott stranded runners on in each of his four innings, with runners left in scoring position on three occasions.

Offensively, junior right fielder Gage Harrelson and junior center fielder Max Williams both had two hits, three RBIs and a run scored to lead the way. Williams homered in the eighth inning, his 10th in 2025, 24th of his career and the fifth in the last five games. Three more players had two hits in Saturday night's win.

For the third time in the series, and for the 13th time in 2025, the Seminoles scored in the first inning, as redshirt freshman left fielder Brody DeLamielleure reached on a bases-loaded fielding error with two outs to score junior shortstop Alex Lodise.

Miami answered to tie the game at 1-1 with an RBI groundout in the bottom of the inning, but FSU responded to regain a 2-1 lead in the second on Harrelson's RBI single. However, the Hurricanes then scored a pair with two outs to take their first lead, 3-2, on a two-RBI single in the bottom half of the second.

FSU's offense broke through with seven runs on eight hits in the fourth to take a 9-3 lead. Every hit was a single, beginning with three consecutive to load the bases. Junior third baseman Carter McCulley walked to bring in the first run and Harrelson drove in two immediately after with a single up the middle. With the bases full again, Williams singled through the left side to bring in another two. A double play followed, only to set up freshman first baseman Myles Bailey and junior designated hitter Jaxson West to deliver two-out RBI hits.

UM scored three in the bottom half on a solo home run and a two-RBI double with two outs. A strikeout ended the inning as Florida State held a 9-6 lead after four.

Fifteen runs through four innings, including 10 in the fourth alone, and both teams' bullpens then proceeded to pitch three scoreless innings. For Florida State, Prescott came on in the fifth with the leadoff runner on and got all three outs while stranding two. He left one on in the sixth and another in the seventh.

Williams delivered a two-out solo homer to left-center in the eighth. That extended the lead to 10-6, and Prescott followed with another shutout inning in the bottom half.

Redshirt senior right-hander Joe Charles pitched a scoreless ninth inning to complete the win.

No. 4 Noles Walk Off Gators in Grand Slam Fashion.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Junior shortstop Alex Lodise hit a walk-off grand slam as the No. 4 Florida State baseball team defeated Florida 8-4 on Tuesday night in Jacksonville.

Lodise's walk-off grand slam gave the Seminoles (21-3) a dramatic win and capped a five-run ninth inning. FSU led 3-2 entering the ninth before the Gators (18-9) scored two in the top of the inning to take a 4-3 lead.

In front of a sold-out crowd at Jacksonville's VyStar Ballpark, Lodise's grand slam was FSU's first walk-off home run since 2022. The blast punctuated a four-hit, four-RBI day where he hit for the cycle, the first of his career and Florida State's first since 2019.

With their first walk-off win in the in-state rivalry series since 2015, the Seminoles improve to 135-128-1 all-time against Florida. FSU is now 13-16 against UF at a neutral site and the Garnet and Gold have won four of the last five.

Florida State led 1-0 in the first inning before Florida tied it at 1-1 in the third. The Seminoles answered right back to take a 3-1 lead in the fourth before the Gators got a run back in the sixth. UF then took its only lead with two in the ninth before the five-run bottom half ended with Lodise's heroics.

Along with Lodise, redshirt freshman Brody DeLamielleure also homered, in the fourth inning. Lodise's home run was his eighth in 2025 and team-best 33rd of his career. DeLamielleure's blast was his third, all on the road, with his first also coming in Jacksonville in February and his second coming two games ago at Miami.

Sophomore left-hander Hudson Rowan earned his first career win as he got the final out of the top of the ninth.

In the middle game of a season-long seven game roadtrip, Florida State won its first neutral-site game of the season.

FSU scored its eight runs on eight hits and UF plated four runs on three hits. Both teams committed one error.

The Seminoles led 3-2 going into the ninth inning, but a two-out RBI double tied the game at 3-3 before an RBI single scored the go-ahead run for the Gators. A strikeout by Rowan ended the inning.

Down 4-3, junior designated hitter Jaxson West led off the bottom of the ninth with a leadoff walk on a 3-2 pitch. Freshman catcher Hunter Carns was then hit by a pitch and junior third baseman Carter McCulley walked to load the bases. Junior right fielder Gage Harrelson then reached on an infield single to score West. With the bases loaded, a tie game at 4-4 and still no outs, Lodise stepped to the plate. He drilled the first pitch he saw deep into the Jacksonville night over the right field fence.

The home run completed his cycle and gave the Seminoles the 8-4 win. Lodise also doubled in the first, singled in the third and tripled in the seventh.

The Seminoles jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning as junior second baseman Drew Faurot reached on an infield single to score Lodise.

A wild pitch scored UF's first run in the third, after sophomore right-handed starter John Abraham had retired the first five he faced and left a runner on in the second. Redshirt senior righty Joe Charles came in and got the final out of the third, the first of eight in a row he retired.

FSU extended its lead to 3-1 on DeLamielleure's two-run homer in the fourth. The shot to right with no outs scored freshman first baseman Myles Bailey, who walked.

UF made it a one-run game in the sixth, as a bases-loaded walk with two outs scored one. However, a flyout to left ended the threat and stranded the maximum. Carns threw out a runner at second in the seventh, and it was three up, three down in the top of the eighth.

That set up the dramatic top and bottom of the ninth inning, where Lodise cemented his name in the history of the FSU-UF rivalry.
