Charles Williams, the acclaimed British novelist, penned the phrase, "In order to move forward into the future, you need to know where you've been."
As we move forward into the future of FSU Athletics, we thought it would be useful for our Seminole Booster members and fans to look back at where your Athletics program and Seminole Boosters have been and where our leaders and supporters have positioned us to go.
Florida State University was founded in 1851 and 100 years later Seminole Boosters was founded with the intention of funding Florida State Athletics operations and facilities. In the early years, the focus was on Doak Campbell Stadium which was built in 1951 (capacity 25,000) and exapanded to 45,000 in 1964, in time to host the University of Florida, and expanded once again in 1978 to 60,147.
In this and subsequent issues of the Unconquered Magazine, Seminole Boosters will provide a timeline of the significant projects in FSU's athletics history. The timeline will be a walk down memory lane for some of our members, a course in Seminole history for others, and an insightful journey for all as we prepare for a new and exciting era ahead.
In this issue of the Unconquered Magazine, we will focus on significant developments from 1985 until 2003. We will present projects built from 2004 until today in future issues of the Unconquered Magazine.
