Clarence G. (Buddy) Newsome, 54, of Ridge Manor, died suddenly Friday evening. A native of Plant City, Mr. Newsome began his career in law enforcement under Sheriff Ed Blackburn in Hillsborough County in 1956. In October 1972, he was hired by Pasco County Sherriff Basil Gaines as lieutenant of his patrol division. After his retirement from the Pasco County Sherriff's Office in 1986, he accepted a position with Lykes Brothers as a range deputy at their North Island Ranch in Glades County. In March of this year he re3turned to this area as head OF security for Lykes Pasco Packing Company in Dade City. He was a member of the Calvary Assembly of God in Dade City, Trilby Lodge No. 141 F.&A.M. and Tribly Chapter No. 89 O.E.S. Survivors include his wife, Becky Young Newsome, Ridge Manor; son and dughter-in-law, Rick and Laurie Newsome, Dade City; daughter and son-in-law, Marilu and Mike Danella, Ridge Manor; daughter Anne Newsome Hilliard, Ridge Manor; six grandchildren, John Amie, Ricky, Emily, Rachel, and April; two brothers, Jack W. Newsome and Bill Newsome, both of Plant City; two sisters, Carolyn Robertson and Virginia McEver, both of Plant City.
