Charles McLean Keating Obituary. Published by The Miami Herald on Aug 17, 1992, page 63. Charles M. Keating, Plantation golf pro. Charles M. Keating was meant to play golf. Both of his parents were professional golfers and so was his grandfather. As a youngster, he played golf professionally and as he got older, he became a teacher of the sport he loved most. Keating, 51, died Friday after a two-year bout with cancer, said his widow, Regina. "Golf was his life as well as his livelihood," Regina Keating said. Keating, of Planation, was born in Yonkers, N.Y., and lived briefly in a home above a country club in Corning, N.Y., his wife said. "He literally lived on the golf course," she said. He was a 25-year member of the Professional Golfer's Association, president of the New Jersey PGA and was PGA Pro-of-the-Year in 1978. He taught young golfers until his condition worsened about a year ago, Regina Keating said. He also owned a golf shop in New Jersey and was part-owner of a Plantation golf course, she said.
Keating is survived by his wife; two daughters, Tana Robertson of London
and Victoria Keating of Bergenfield, N.J.; one son, Charles Keating, Jr. of
Sterling, Va.; and three grandsons. |
