"Debbie" Coggins, 64, died peacefully and went to her heavenly home on
December 9th, 2016. She bravely fought a long battle with cancer, never
once complaining, and she kept a positive attitude through the entirety of
her battle. Debbie was born November 13th, 1952 in Miami Florida to Louie
and Margaret Coggins. She grew up in Miami, and graduated from Miami
Palmetto High School. She was a hard worker and always studied diligently.
Education was very important to her. She continued her hard work and
dedication while she was attending Florida State University where she
earned her Bachelor in Science. She also had a certificate in Education,
and taught Physical Education while coaching basketball and volleyball.
Debbie was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority and a lifelong avid
Seminole fan. Later she changed careers and worked in the insurance
industry as a Business Analyst. She was a member of Stetson Baptist Church
in Deland. Debbie was preceded in death by her father, Louie Stafford
Coggins. She is survived by her two daughters, Tasha and Kristina, whom she
graciously adopted from Russia to provide them with a loving family and a
bright, hopeful future. They were the loves of her life! Debbie is also
survived by her mother, Margaret Ragland Coggins, sister Paula O'Quinn
(David), brothers Les (Cathie), Ron, Jim (Dianne), and many nieces and
nephews. A memorial service will be held at Lohman Funeral Home in Deland
with the internment immediately following at Deland Memorial Gardens.
