Lawson Howard Bevis, 82, died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006, at the North West Florida Community Hospital. Mr. Bevis moved from Tallahassee to Chipley in 1996. He retired as a public-health consultant and was a member of Blue Lake Baptist Church and the Friends of the Library. Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Bevis; two daughters, Sally Bevis Holder of Jacksonville and Cassandra "Sandy" Bevis Locke (and husband John B. Locke) of Chipley; a daughter-in-law, Valerie Bevis of Milton; four grandchildren, Amy Elizabeth Locke, John Aaron Locke, Troy Lawson Bevis and Rachel Marie Bevis; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Lawson Howard Bevis Jr.
