Obituary for Moses McCray. Former NFL player Moses McCray dead at 34. By Brian Pittman Moses McCray one of the stars of Tampa, Florida is dead at the age of 34. We are going to miss one of Tampa's most highly decorated players to ever play at Hillsboro and Middleton High School. Moses McCray was born on January 12th, 1990 in Tampa Florida. He attended Middleton High School from 2005 to 2006, before transferring to Hillsboro High School where he graduated in 2008. Moses ended up making himself a highly decorated Prospect composite score of 8972 county out of Hillsborough High School. Ultimately Moses decided to go to Florida State University which was Bobby Bowden's last recruiting class. Odell Higgins and Lawrence Dawsey were the main coaches that recruited McCray at the time. From 2008 up to 2012, Moses finished his career at Florida State with 24 games played 10 unassisted tackles, 14 assists, and a fumble recovery. Moe had a very hard career at Florida State with injuries to his ACL and shoulder. He would eventually decide to transfer within his last year with another Bowden. Terry Bowden decided to give Moses McCray another opportunity at Akron which Moses did take advantage of. That 2013 season Moses finished with 24 total tackles, two tackles for a loss, and one QB pressure. It was just enough to allow him to get a shot at the NFL, eventually landing with the New Orleans Saints. He was eventually cut
and McCray decided to retire. |
