Selected as a Champion Beyond the Game in 2017 Kerrissa Heffernan is the Director of Global Sport at Brown University. Prior to that she was the Director of Faculty Engagement at the Swearer Center for Public Service and Director of the Royce Fellowship, The Brown International Scholars Program and the Sport and Society Fellowships. She was a senior associate at National Campus Compact and the Arnow-Weiler professor of liberal arts at Lasell College. She was the founder and director of the Lasell Center for Public Service and director of the Donahue Institute for Values and Public Life. She is the author of The Fundamentals of Course Construction; Editor of The Practice of Change: Concepts and Models for Service-Learning in Women's Studies, and co-editor of The Introduction to Service-learning Toolkit: Readings and Resources for Faculty. Kerri was the head coach of the Brown University women's rugby team from 2001-2013. In that time, Brown won 7 Ivy Championships, played in the National Championships 7 times and the final 4, four times. Her teams produced 19 All Americans, 9 national team players and 2 World Cup players. Kerri graduated from FSU in 1980
with a BA in Visual Arts. While at FSU she was a member of the
cross-country and track teams (1975-1978) and the rugby team 1978-1980
(1979 and 1980 national champions). She was a member of the women's
athletic advisory council, F Club, and Kappa Kappa Gamma. She received her
masters and doctorate from Boston University. While living in Boston she
was a member of Beantown Rugby Team from 1981-1990 winning 5 national
championships and a member of the US Women's National Team from 1987-1989,
earning 4 caps for the US. |
