Virgil Benton Waddell Jr., owner of a dry cleaning chain in St. Louis, died Sunday (Sept. 29, 1996) of cancer at DePaul Health Center in Bridgeton. He was 60 and lived in Town and Country.

Mr. Waddell owned and operated nine Continental and Waddell's 45-Minute dry cleaning businesses in the area. He opened his first dry cleaning business in 1958 on Page Boulevard.

He also owned a laundry company and Dell's Supply Co., which provided supplies for the area's laundry, dry cleaning and tailoring industry. He attended Florida State University and served in the Air National Guard from the late 1950s to the mid-1960s.

Among survivors are his wife of 36 years, Judith Waddell; a daughter, Suzzanne C. Waddell of Town and Country; three sons, Jeffrey B. Wadell of Chesterfield, Andrew P. Waddell of Ballwin and Brian G. Waddell of Town and Country; two sisters, Marie Gaston and Debbie Poland, both of Denver; and two grandchildren.
