Parker, Sr. (Dick), 77 of Tampa passed away on June 4th, 2011 with his
family by his side. A native of Niagara Falls, New York and the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Wilmer Parker. He attended Bishop Duffy Catholic School, where he
excelled in many sports. After serving in the United States Navy, he
attended Florida State University from 1955-1959, where he was a member of
the Swim and Golf Teams. He was employed by Tampa Paper Company for many
years before starting his own business, where he was instrumental in the
introduction of plastic grocery bags to Publix and Eckerd Drug stores. His
love of golf was evident in his daily life as being a founding member of
Silver Lake Country Club back in the late 1960's which is now known today
as Carrollwood Village / Emerald Greens. Other hobbies included coaching
his son's soccer team, fishing, skiing and reading. He was a loving
husband, father, grand-father, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed
and remain in our hearts forever. He is survived by his wife of 47 years
Gina, daughter Lisa (Wes), son Richard Jr., daughter- in- law Dina,
cherished grandchildren Lauren and R.J. , his sister Joyce Kay (Donald),
brother Robert Parker(Patricia), many nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was
predeceased in death by his parents Wilmer and Dorothy and brother Donald
Parker(Beverly).
