Timothy Paul "Tim" Simpkins, 46, of Tallahassee died Monday of lung and liver cancer.

A native of Portsmouth, Ohio, he had lived in Tallahassee since 1972. He was the Gulf Winds Track Club runner of the year in 1978 and received the Michael Caldwell Advancement of the Sport award given by the club. He also owned a sporting goods store and was apartment manager at Harbin Terrace for several years.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Cora Lee Simpkins of Tallahassee; a daughter, Rachel Lee Simpkins of Tallahassee; his parents, Sylvia Simpkins of Davenport and Mark Simpkins of Ohio; four brothers, Simeon Simpkins of Lakeland and Dan Simpkins, Mark Simpkins and Jon Simpkins of Davenport; and a sister, Lois Sons of Haines City.
