Mr. Harvey Bivins Lofton, 83 of Green Cove Springs, passed away Friday, March 12, 2021. Mr. Lofton was born June 19, 1937 in Camilla, Georgia to parents Hoyt Lester and Pauline (Knighton) Lofton. He served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1958. Harvey held a Master's degree in education and was a teacher for the Clay County School District for 12 years and the Bradford County School District for 21 years. As a coach, he led his Clay County football team to the state championships in 1967 and again in 1995 for the Bradford County women's basketball team. He was the first coach to win state titles in 2 separate sports. Harvey was a member of Grace Anglican Church in Fleming Island and in his free time loved playing golf. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by first wife, Linda Lee Lofton in 1976, second wife, Flora Lee Lofton in 2006, and brothers, Steele Gore and Hoyt D. Lofton. Survivors are his children, Dandee "Dan" Lofton (Terry) of Jacksonville, Donna Jimenez (Marty) of California, Doug Lofton of Green Cove Springs, John Rogers of Georgia, Marni Conoway of Middleburg, and Sam Willis of Green Cove Springs. Also surviving him are his 16 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
