Selected as a Champion Beyond the Game in 2013 Dr. Liberty Taylor
hailed from the bayou country of south Louisiana before attending Florida
State in 1991 and competing four years on full scholarship as a member of
the FSU women's basketball team. As a student-athlete, she earned ACC
academic awards three years in a row and was honored by FSU at the Golden
Torch Gala for academic excellence. She returned to FSU in 1997 to earn her
master's degree in Interactive Communication Technologies and then worked
for four years on the nationally recognized and highly successful Florida
TRUTH youth anti-tobacco campaign. During graduate school, Liberty was one
of two students selected for the presidential search committee that
recommended TK Wetherell to the FSU Board of Trustees to serve as the 15th
president of the University. In her spare time, she also taught as an
adjunct professor in the FSU College of Communication and served as a radio
color analyst for the FSU women's basketball squad. She became a student
once again in 2004 to attend the FSU College of Medicine and moonlighted in
the evenings as an on-air personality for the Florida Lottery. Following
medical school, she went on to fulfill a dream of living on the coast of
Maine by completing her residency in anesthesiology at Maine Medical Center
in Portland, ME. She now practices anesthesiology in beautiful central
Vermont. Dr. Taylor is married to Steve MacNamara (a reformed Florida
Gator) and they have two furry, four-legged children, who quite frankly,
look like dogs. |
