Julian Price Hurst Obituary. Posted by Stirffler-Hamby Mortuary, LaGrange, Ga. Julian P. Hurst of LaGrange, GA passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on March 30, 2023, at the age of 89. A loving family mentor, revered community member and loyal friend, Julian will be remembered for his career accomplishments and civic contributions, exceptional generosity and kindness, quick wit and devotion to his family. He was our family’s rock and the one that everyone went to for advice and comfort. Julian had a way with words and was famous in our family for his touching blessings at holiday dinners. He also had a great sense of humor and the best laugh to go with it. Julian was born on July 10, 1933 to Julia and Byron Hurst of Camilla, GA. He attended Florida State University where he ran track and was President of Sigma Nu fraternity. While there he met the love of his life, Jane, and they would go on to share 66 wonderful years together. Following college, he was stationed at Patuxent River, Maryland during his service in the Navy. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Byron Hurst and Frank Hurst. Julian is survived by his wife Jane, his sister Alice, and his children, Price (Nancy) Hurst, Katherine (Joe) Monroe as well as five grandchildren, Garrett (Claire), Spencer (Kali) and Caroline Hurst, Janey (Connor) and Katie Morton. He loved his family dearly and particularly had a soft spot in his heart for his grandchildren. Julian was a member of the First Baptist Church on the Square for many years where he served as a Deacon. He was owner of WTRP Radio and the local Cable TV system and served on the board of Synovus Bank as well as the LaGrange Development Authority. He was also president of both the JC and Lions Clubs. He was a lifetime golfer and enjoyed playing tennis. The family wishes to
express appreciation to Gina McGlamory, his longtime caregiver. |
