Albert C. Bradford Obituary Published in The Miami Herald, on October 11, 1989, page 138. Albert C. Bradford, retired math teacher Mr. Bradford died Monday at his Hollywood home. He was 61. Born in Tallahassee, Mr. Bradford moved to Hollywood 38 years ago. He enjoyed teaching algebra and geometry. He also taught physical education for a few years at the start of his career. "He loved math, he loved teaching and he loved the students," said his wife, Mary Bradford. "He made them think for themselves." Mr. Bradford retired in 1987 as head of the math department at South Broward High School in Hollywood. He began teaching in Dania Elementary School in 1951. He also taught at Olsen Middle School in Dania and McNicol Middle School in Hollywood, when the schools were junior highs. He left McNicol for South Broward High in 1970 when the junior highs converted to middle schools, because he preferred to teach the older grades. Mr. Bradford was graduated from Florida State University with a bachelor's degree in physical education. He later earned a master's in mathematics at FSU. He was captain of the Seminole track team. He competed in the shot-put and the javelin. Mr. Bradford performed also with the FSU Flying High Circus. He was a member of of the three-men balancing team. He was a member of the Classroom Teachers' Association of Broward County. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hollywood, where he sang in the choir. Bradford of Miami, Richard Bradford of Pembroke Pines and David Bradford of
Hollywood; two daughters, Carol Bradford and Cheryl Lynn Bradford, both of
Hollywood; and one grandson. |
