Walter Lee "Buddy" Wells, 59, of 4553 Leighton Farm Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, in Martin Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.

A native of Hapeville, Ga., he had been a long-time resident of Stuart and of Palm City for the past 20 years.

He was a former assistant principal and math teacher at Martin County High School having been with the school system for the past 28 years.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Stuart, the Stuart Kiwanis Club and the Men's Club of Martin County Golf Association.

Survivors include his wife Minnie L.; three sons, Bruce and Glen of Stuart and Brent of Pope Air Force Base in Springlake, N.C.; two sisters, June Kitching of Selina, Tenn., and Rosnelle DiNito of Frankfort, N.Y.; a brother Wayne of Stuart; his mother Beatrice Wells Byrum of Selina and seven grandchildren.
