John Glenn Essex. Born Sept. 23, 1949 in Greensboro, NC, entered into rest July 2, 2001 in Roseville, CA. John graduated from Christopher Columbus High School, Miami, FL in 1968, where he was an All Star Athlete. He received a full scholarship to Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL where he played football for the Seminoles. John moved to California in 1975, earned a Real Estate License and then became a licensed General Contractor, starting Far West Construction.

John loved to fish in Mexico, gamble in Reno and enjoyed a good laugh with his friends and family.

Survivors include his wife, Joan Essex of Colfax. Daughters: Dawn Tassone and Megan Rodgers of Grass Valley. Step-daughters: Ann Rickets of Lincoln and Tina Konkle of N. Highlands, CA. Three grandchildren, Francis Tassone, Jr., Joseph Tassone, Bradley Ricketts. Mother, Virginia Essex of Orange Park, FL. Sisters: Eileen Essex-Sheridan, Margaret Shepard, Betty Jo Dwyer and Katya. Brothers: Robert William Essex, James Leo Essex.
