Tony Gale Sewell, a counselor with the Department of Corrections, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 56 years old and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA. His wife, Michelle Sarno Sewell, survives him along with two daughters, Heather Sewell Day and Tiffany Dawn Sewell; a brother, Buford Randel Sewell and a sister, Bonita Story. His mother and father, Buford Bazzell Sewell, and Luceil Sewell, preceded him in death.

Friends and family of Tony Sewell will remember his ability to connect with virtually anyone, including the crowd that informally meets every morning at the Country Corner Store on Perkins Road as well as business and political executives from around the state. His big, warm laugh and his endless file of wonderful stories delighted everyone with whom he came in contact.

The Sewell family wishes to thank their many friends and neighbors who have meant so much at this time. A special thank you is given to the SICU nurses and doctors of Our Lady of the Lake Hospital whose warm and loving care of Tony during his stay in the hospital was deeply appreciated.
