Gary Wayne Loucks Obituary. Published in The Orlando Sentinel on Apr 9, 1974, page 26. Football player at FSU dies. Mr. Gary Wayne Loucks, 22, a Florida State University football player formerly from Merritt Island, died Sunday, in an automobile accident near Quincy. Born Feb. 3, 1952, in Orlando, the youth moved to Merritt Island with his family when he was two years old. He was a 1970 Merritt Island High School graduate and president of his senior class there. He was chosen as an outstanding high school student and was included in the 1970 edition of "Outstanding Teenagers of America." Mr. Loucks attending FSU on a football scholarship, planned to graduate in December with a degree in hotel and restaurant management. His parents bought a farm near Quincy in the Flat Creek area and moved there from Merritt Island about six months ago and Loucks was living with them, raising Appaloosa horses, farm crops and cattle.
