Mr. Don Earl McCormick, 85, a lifelong resident of Lynn Haven, FL, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 22, 2021 with his wife and children by his side. Don was born on March 1, 1936. He graduated from Bay High School in 1954 and was an outstanding football player. He received a football scholarship to FSU, but suffered an injury his freshmen year that ended his playing.

In May of 1956, he met his future wife, Pat, at "The Hangout" on Panama City Beach. They married two months later in July and as the saying goes "they lived happily ever after"!. He graduated from FSU in 1962 and was hired at the new Rutherford High School as a baseball coach and assistant football coach. He had a passion for coaching, but not classroom teaching.

Don was a lifelong member of Lynn Haven United Methodist Church. In his spare time in the 70's he was able to get back into coaching. He was the Lynn Haven Raiders midget football coach and coached Lynn Haven Little League baseball, winning too many championships to mention. This was probably some of the best years of his life.

In 1968 he started his own family run company McCormick Contracting Company inspired by a job he had as a laborer with Kansas City Bridge Co. that built the second Hathaway Bridge. Don's company has been very successful in the field of building foundations, marinas and was awarded numerous contracts with the state, the county and government military installations. His sons have successfully maintained the business. Don also served on the board of Commercial Bank and then Bay Bank.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, Harris J. MCormick and Myrtle Harper McCormick and an infant daughter, Donna Diane McCormick. He is survived by his wife of 65 yrs., Pat McCormick; children, Don McCormick, Jr. (Karen), Mickey McCormick (Jamie) and Stacey Marshall (Scott); nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
