Kings Mountain - Mr. Plonk, age 74, resident of 311 St. Luke Church Road, Kings Mountain, died April 24, 2007 at Summitt Place, Kings Mountain, NC. He was born in Cleveland County, NC, the son of the late Rufus Lawrence and Kathleen McGill Plonk. He was also preceded in death by sister, Nancy Sutton. Mr. Plonk was a lifelong member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Kings Mountain. He was a retired farmer and businessman. His family was named the Farm Family of the Year. Mr. Plonk was a member of Cleveland Co. Farm Bureau. He served on the Board of Directors on the Rutherford Electric Corp. Mr. Plonk was supervisor of the soil and water conservation board. He was a 1954 graduate of North Carolina State University. Survivors include his wife, Marguerite Thomason Plonk
of Kings Mountain; daughters, Jill Lovell and husband, Terry, of Kings
Mountain, Janice Foong and husband, Nick, of Eldridge, MD, Jodie Mercier
and husband, Mark, of Asheville, NC, and Jacqueline Saliba and husband,
Fadi, of Charlotte, NC; sisters, Martha Plonk of Kings Mountain, Virginia
Morris of Signal Mountain, TN, and Rachel Gladden of Kings Mountain; and 10
grandchildren, Julien, Chelsea, Andrew, David, Jessica, Blake, Victoria,
Layla, Isabella and Drew. |
