Richard J. Soffel, 33, of Oceanport, died Thursday at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. With his family he owned and operated Soffel Luncheonette, Oceanport, for the past 15 years. He was a communicant of Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. Mr. Soffel was born in Long Branch and lived in Oceanport most of his life.

Surviving are his parents; Joseph and Helen Parker Soffel; a brother, Thomas R. Soffel, Brick Township; his paternal grandmother, Frances Ann Soffel, Long Branch; and his fiancée, Denise Wilkes, Lakewood.
