Obituary for Ben Curry Published by Cully's MeadowWood Funeral Home. Benjamin Felix Curry, Jr., age 67, passed away from natural causes on April 24, 2023, in Tallahassee. He was the son of Benjamin Felix Curry, Sr. and Carolyn Harrell Curry. Ben was born in Jacksonville, Florida and moved to Tallahassee as a young boy with his family where he excelled on all the baseball teams he played on. Being on the "All Star" team year after year should have been his middle name as a youth. He was a true athlete and lettered in both Baseball and Football from the 9th grade on. He was a member of the 1973 graduating class of Amos P. Godby High School. After high school, Ben attended Florida State University on a full scholarship and continued his baseball career. During his junior year at FSU, he signed with the Cleveland Indians and played in the Minor Leagues until he sustained an injury which cut his baseball career short. He then returned to Tallahassee to be close to his family and friends and worked in the finance department at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare until his retirement five years ago. He met his beloved Martha many years ago and the rest is history. A true love story. Ben was an intimidating figure but had a loving and caring personality. He was known as "Gentle Ben" to his teammates, Ben Jr. to his family, and was always ready to provide a helping hand to all. Ben was truly larger than life. Survivors include his wife, Martha Miller and her children, Ron Miller, Jr. (Cindy); their sons, Josiah (JoJo), Ethan and Noah; and Rhett Miller all of Tallahassee, FL; brothers and sisters, Steve Hollingsworth (Pam) of Quincy, FL, Jean Curry Bonilla (Guillo) of Crestview, FL, Jo Curry Elkins of Quincy, FL and Elaine Curry Nation (John) of Tallahassee, FL; and nieces and nephews, Erin Hollingsworth Bell, Tori Hollingsworth, Juan Bonilla, Jr., Angelique Bonilla Douglas, Nick Elkins, Jr., Bryant Elkins, Nicole Nation McNeil and Savannah Nation. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Nick Elkins.
