on Jun 10, 2015, page A17. Fred Monroe Kendall, 83, passed away in his
sleep on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at his home in Grandview, Tennessee. He was
born in Ft. Pierce, Florida on October 6, 1931. He graduated in 1950 and
was awarded a football and baseball scholarship to Florida State University
where he attended college until joining the Marines in 1952. After his
service, he went to work for the Ft. Pierce sheriff's department and then
the Parks Department Beach Patrol as a lifeguard. In 1957, he went to work
for the Ft. Pierce Police department where he eventually became Captain of
Police. He was also selected by the FBI for extensive training in Quantico,
Virginia. He retired in 1975. He then moved to Grandview, Tennessee where
he worked as a Rhea County school bus driver for several years. He had
homes in Grandview and Melbourne, Florida where he worked with his sons.
Fred was very active with his high school alumni and put together frequent
get-togethers so they could all keep in touch. He enjoyed pistol shooting
and always encouraged anyone who wanted to learn to join him at the gun
range so he could instruct them. He passed that knowledge and passion along
to his sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in
death by his father Walter Louis Kendall and his mother Grace "Nana" Emily
(Nipper) Kendall. Survivors include his sons Walter "Lane" Kendall, and
Fred "Matthew" Kendall, all of Melbourne, Florida. His 7 grandchildren
include Joshua Kendall, Justin Kendall, Caitlynn Kendall Malito, Brittany
Kendall Hunt, Benjamin Kendall, Courteney Kendall, and Cody Kendall. His 6
great-grandchildren include Coleton, Tyler, and Dylan Kendall and Hannah,
Charlie, and Ethan Hunt and another great-granddaughter on the way.
