Preston Bradley Obituary Published by The Ledger on May 19, 2008. DOWLING PARK - Preston Elmo Bradley, 80, passed away Thursday, May 15th, 2008 at his residence due to heart failure. Preston was born May 20th, 1927 in Palmetto, Florida. He graduated from Lake Wales High School in 1945 and from Florida State University in 1953 with a degree in Mathematics. He was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity and was a member of the Florida State University football team from 1950 to 1951. He was in the U.S. Navy at the end of World War II for 13 months. He later joined the United States Air Force in 1953. He flew B-47's, B-52's and CH-53C Helicopters in SE Asia, where he commanded a helicopter squadron. Colonel Bradley's decorations include the Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross with two oak leaf clusters, an Air Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, The Purple Heart and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. He retired in 1977 with the rank of Lt. Colonel and moved with his wife Marion Eleanor Bradley to Lakeland, Florida. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lakeland. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Eleanor Bradley; his
four children Ann Smith of Madison, FL, Brad Bradley of Bellevue, NE, Dale
Bradley of Crestview, FL and John Bradley of Gainesville, FL; his four
grandchildren, Simeon and Justin Smith, Heather and Robyn Bradley; a
brother, Bernard Bradley and his wife, Judy, of Webster, FL; his
sister-in-laws, Sally Bradley of Plant City, FL and sister-in-law, Martha
Van Arsdall and husband, Van, of Lakeland, FL and many other loving family
members and friends. |
