Obituray for Kenneth R. MacLean, Sr. Published in the Tallahassee Democrat During his lifetime he was a husband, father, and loving grandfather; as well as teacher, coach, school administrator, Jacksonville City department head, administrative assistant to the Athletic Director at Florida State University and recruiter for FSU football. Ken served in the Army Medical Corp. and attended both the University of Florida and Florida State University. He received his MS Degree from Florida State University, where he was a member of the TBUF Group on campus when WFSCW became FSU in 1947. Ken was a member of the first FSU football team in 1947, and was one of the founders of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity on the FSU Campus and referred to each as a wonderful experience, with lifelong friendships. Ken developed a strong bond with his former players, students and teachers. An avid golfer, Ken was a member of the Golf Club of Quincy. He was also a member of Phi Delta Kappa (education, professional fraternity) and was retired as Principal of Havana Middle School in 1992. Ken was a member of Rockledge Presbyterian Church, Rockledge, Florida. Ken is survived by his former wife, Bess R. MacLean; three children, Ken MacLean, Jr., Gulf Breeze, Fl.; John MacLean, Gulf Breeze, FL.; and Laura MacLean Smith, Columbus, Ga.; six grandchildren, Brett, Mandy, Morgan MacLean, Lindsey Clay and Bradley Smith; and great-granddaughters, Kyle Masters, Arlynn Harrison and Makenna Clay. He was proceeded in death by his son, Mark MacLean.
