Richardson, a loving husband and Father passed away on April 30, 2016 in
Port Orange, Florida. Jimtom was born on November 28, 1931 to the late
Haynes and Essie Richardson. Growing up in Jacksonville, Jimtom graduated
from Landon High School in 1949 and Jacksonville Junior College (now
Jacksonville University) and Florida State University. Upon graduation from
FSU in 1953 he served his country in the US Army and was discharged in
1955. His real sports love was basketball, Jimtom played for Jacksonville
University, Florida State University, and the US Army. He played local
basketball in church leagues, city leagues, and sponsored many AAU teams;
he played competitively until his mid 50's. In his late 60's, Jimtom
started his love/hate affair with golf. Always trying to find perfection,
he managed to record two hole-in-ones. In 1964 He started his accounting
firm SAV-TAX Inc. where he served his customers for the next four decades
until his retirement in 2010. He was a gifted singer and his beautiful deep
voice moved people to tears. Singing bass, Jimtom performed in his church
choirs at Spruce Creek Presbyterian, First Methodist in Ormond Beach,
Arlington United Methodist Church and Riverside Methodist Church in
Jacksonville. He also sang in various theater groups in Jacksonville. He
once performed the national anthem for President Truman. Jimtom served his
community as a Paul Harris fellow of the rotary Club of Arlington,
Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce; Arlington Council where he was named
Business Man of the Year. He served as a board member and treasurer of the
Opera Repertory Group and Jacksonville Crippled Children's Society. While
at Florida State he met his future wife, Cecile and they raised five
children. After 32 years of marriage and providing loving care to his wife,
she passed in 1985. On December 3, 1988, Jimtom married the former Carol
Davis and they spent the next 27 years together. Jimtom is predeceased by
his first wife and his three sisters. He is survived by his wife Carol and
her children, Ruth Ann (Gus), Bob (Carole) and his children Jimtom, Jr.
(Dorothy), Laurel, Clay (Denise), Slade, Stacy, and numerous grandkids,
great-grandkids, nephews and nieces. He is also survived by his
brother-in-law Donald May (Lucy).
