Robert Woodard McKay Obituary. Published by the Shelbyville News, Shelbyville, Ind. on Oct 7, 1998. Shelbyville native Robert Woodard McKay, 70, Franklin, N.C., died Monday at his home. Born June 16, 1928, in Shelbyville, he was the son of Robert Ernest and Eleanor Edel (Woodard) McKay. He was married to Karen (Bartz) McKay, and she survives. Mr. McKay was retired from Sperry and Hutchinson, where he had been the public information manager. Mr. McKay was a graduate of Florida State University, where he was a member of Theta Chi and Gold Key. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Franklin, N.C., and the Press Club, Atlanta, Ga. He was a member and vice president of the Lions Club, Andrews, N.C., and a member of the Public Relations Society in America, where he received the man of the year award. Other survivors include two sons, Donald Woodard McKay, Chengdu, China, and Douglas Marshall McKay, Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter, Elizabeth F. McKay, Atlanta, Ga.; two stepdaughters, Victoria Lynn Sharrow, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Cora Lee Siegel, Coral Springs, Fla., a brother, Kimble D. McKay, Sebring, Fla.; a sister, Barbara Jean Scott Lekner, Stow, Ohio; and four step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son. |
