William F. Weigel Obituary. Published by the South Florida Sun Sentinel on Mar 7, 2003, page 14. Weigel, William F., 79, of Boca Raton, FL
passed away peacefully at home to the arms of the Lord on Thursday, March
6, 2003. Born into a family of 12 in Batesville, IN, he served in the Naval
Seabees during WW II. Later, he completed a Masters' Degree from Florida
State University, where he played and coached basketball, there he met his
wife, Lucille. From 1956 - 1985, he taught physical education, coached, and
refereed in the Broward County School System. As Athletic Director of
Deerfield Beach High School, he founded and maintained the athletic program
from 1970 - 1985. He spent 18 years Coaching at the Wilton Manors Summer
Recreation Dept. in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. As an adjunct professor for 15
years at PBCC, he taught physical education classes. He dedicated his life
to the education of children. Survivors include: his loving wife of 48
years, Lucille; 5 children, Kathleen Weigel, Lynne Wachniak, William Weigel
of Delray Beach, FL, Teresa Maglio of Woodland Hills, CA, and Richard
Weigel of Clearwater, FL; brother, Donald Weigel of Batesville, IN; 6
grandchildren & numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. |
