18 by Green Jr. Lead Seminoles Past Kennesaw State, 94-67.

By Brooke Spreitzer

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Darin Green Jr. scored 18 points and Cam'Ron Fletcher added 13 to lead Florida State to a 94-67 win over Kennesaw State in its season opener at the Donald L. Tucker Center. Green Jr. made three 3-point shots to bring his career total to 302 as the Seminoles never trailed, led by 15 at halftime and increased their lead to 35 in the second half in winning their season opener for the ninth time in the last 11 years.

Tom House, who celebrated his 20th birthday, totaled nine on three made 3-point shots - all three of which came in a span of 58 seconds late in the first half to give the Seminoles a commanding 48-25 lead with 3:46 remaining before halftime.

"We had good moments defensively, and offensively in the first half we made the most of our threes and transitions," said Florida State Head Coach Leonard Hamilton, who upped his record to 28-8 in 36 career season opening games.

In addition to leading the Seminoles in scoring, Green Jr. added three rebounds, one assist, and one blocked shot in 23 minutes of playing time as a starter.

"Darin normally leads by example and is in his teammates' ears away from the court," said Hamilton. "I thought he played the game the right way tonight."

House had the birthday magic working as he finished the first half with perfect from the field -- three of three -- in finishing with career-high nine points. He also totaled two rebounds and four assists.

Fletcher played a solid all-around game as he finished as Florida State's second-leading scorer while totaling five rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one blocked shot.

Baba Miller, Jalen Warley, Cam Corhen, and Josh Nickelberry all scored nine points or more in the win.

Florida State made a statement from the start as it scored first-half 49 points, while shooting 50.0 percent from the field. Defensively, Florida State limited Kennesaw State to 34 points and 32.5 percent shooting from the field in the first 20 minutes.

The Seminoles carried their defensive energy into the second half as they limited the Owls to only four points for the first eight minutes of play. Offensively, Florida State scored 45 points in the second half, with 24 points coming from off the bench. Florida State outrebounded the Owls (48-46) while totaling 22 assists, nine steals, and nine blocks.

"It was encouraging for us to come out and play with that fire in the second half," said Hamilton. "I was also pleased with our rotation with that being the staple of our program for years."

Guard, Simeon Cottle was the leading scorer for Kennesaw State with scoring 18 of their 67 points.

Watkins Leads Seminoles With 19 In Victory over Central Michigan.

By Brooke Spreitzer

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State scored 13 of the first 14 points of the game and never trailed in defeating Central Michigan, 94-67, in a first round on-campus game in the 2023 Sunshine Slam at the Donald L. Tucker Center. Jamir Watkins topped the Seminoles as he scored 19 points to lead six Seminoles in double figures as Florida State won its second consecutive game to open the season.

Watkins enjoyed an extremely efficient night with 19 points scored in 18 minutes played, with six rebounds, four steals and two assists in the victory. Also in double figures for Florida State (2-0) were Darin Green Jr. with 16 points, Josh Nickelberry with 12, Baba Miller with 11 while Cam Corhen and Cam'Ron Fletcher scored 10 each.

For the second consecutive game, Florida State never trailed and built its biggest lead at 29 early in the second half. Corhen scored on a jumper in the paint 28 seconds into the game and the Seminoles quickly took advantage of the visiting Chippewas. Florida State led 50-30 at the intermission as it limited Central Michigan (0-3) to 11 made field goals and one of eight shooting in the first 20 minutes from the 3-point line.

"Overall we took another step in the right direction," said Florida State Head Coach Leonard Hamilton. "We have moments where we show we do things very well. We are playing unselfishly and moving the ball to get high percentage shots."

Florida State's defense was on display after halftime as it held Central Michigan to nine points in the first 10 minutes of the second half.

"Attacking them (Florida State) makes you speed up and play faster than you typically want to," said Chippewa Head Coach Tony Barbee. "They will be a challenge every night for most teams with the way they make play you defensively."

Watkins had a spectacular night as he led the team in scoring with 19 points as he came just three points shy of his career-high of 22 points against Northern Illinois and Richmond while at VCU. He finished tied for the team high with his six rebounds and led the team with four steals. In addition to shooting six of eight from the field, he was a near perfect five of six from the free throw line.

"He only played 18 minutes, but he scored 19 points," said Hamilton. "His efficiency was unbelievable."

Jalen Warley enjoyed a solid game as he finished tied for the team-high with four assists. Chandler Jackson was tied with Warley as the team leader in assists with four.

Corhen put 10 points on the board, to go along with along with three assists, three rebounds, and two steals.

Florida State rotated 16 players into the game, including Michael Brown - who celebrated his 22nd birthday. Brown scored the first points of his career on a free throw in the game's final minute.

Florida State Falls To Florida In Gainesville.

By Brooke Spreitzer

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Florida's Walter Clayton Jr. scored a game-high 19 points with five assists in leading the Gators to victory 89-68 over Florida State at the Exactech Arena. Clayton Jr. led four Gators in double figure scoring as Florida led the entire way in earning the win on their home court.

"You have to give the Gators a 'thumbs up' for how they were emotionally and mentally prepared for the game," said Florida State Head Coach Leonard Hamilton. "I thought that obviously, they were extremely prepared, they took away our three-point shots early, and they even guarded us at the free throw line. They seemed to have what we call that "magic level."

Cam Corhen totaled his second career double with a career-high tying 18 points and 10 rebounds. He became the Seminoles' third different leading scorer in the first three games of the season. Jalen Warley also had a stat-building game leading the team in assists (four) and steals (with a career-high five). Jamir Watkins scored 13 points to reach double figure scoring for the second consecutive game.

Corhen enjoyed the most impressive game of his sophomore season as he made seven field goals and four free throws while pulling down a career-high nine offensive rebounds.

"I think we're going to learn an awful lot from this," said Hamilton.

Tyrese Samuel (15 points), Zyon Pullin (15), and Riley Kugel (10) were among the four Gators who scored in double figures. Florida totaled 52 points in the first half.

The Gators came out aggressively and led by an 11-4 margin in the opening five minutes of the first half. Florida continued its momentum as it made 18 of 28 field goals in the first half for a .643 shooting percentage.

Florida State refused to let the hostile environment bother them in the second half as it outscored Florida by a 46-37 margin in the second half.

Senior Cam'Ron Fletcher hit a monumental career milestone as he pulled down his 200th career rebound in the first half. He totaled four rebounds with two steals and nine points.

Warley played an aggressive game as he earned a career-high five steals. His five steals surpassed his previous career high of four steals against both Boston College and Virginia Tech during his sophomore season. He also scored seven points.

By Brooke Spreitzer

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Jamir Watkins led four Seminoles in double figure scoring with19 points and a career-high eight assists as Florida State advanced to the championship game of the Sunshine Slam with an 83-75 win over UNLV at the Ocean Center. Watkins scored 14 second-half points as Florida State led the entire game for the third time this season in gaining their first-ever victory over UNLV.

Watkins (19 points), Darin Green Jr. (16), Cam Corhen (14), and De'Ante Green (10) all scored in double figures as Florida State led by double digits for much of the second half. The Seminoles led by 16 in the second half, and outscored the Runnin' Rebels on points off of turnovers (23-19), fast break points (18-9), and points off the bench (26-21).

Watkins led the team in scoring for the second time this season as he tied his career-high as a Seminole. He also scored 19 points in Florida State's win over Central Michigan in their first game of the Sunshine Slam. His eight assists marked a career-high.

Watkins closed out the first half with a buzzer-beating 3-point shot just inside of half-court entering into the half to give the Seminoles a 42-35 advantage.

Green Jr. enjoyed a standout game as he scored 16 points on two made 3-point field goals. In just 36 games as a Seminole he has now made 100 3-point shots. Green Jr. became the 25th player in school history to make 100 or more 3-point field-goals. He was the Seminoles' second-leading scorer as he finished four of four from the free throw line.

Corhen created a hot start for the Seminoles as he scored six of Florida State's first nine points with a layup and two dunks in the first three minutes of the game. He was nearly perfect from the field (six of seven) in scoring his 14 points. Corhen was perfect from the free throw line (two of two) and generous with his teammates as he blocked two shots, earned two steals, and totaled two assists.

The Seminoles found their biggest lead of the game (16 points) with under three minutes to play. The Seminoles shot a season-high .627 from the field.

The Runnin' Rebels had five players scoring in double digits, with their leading scorer being fifth year Kalib Boone putting up 15 points.

Seminoles Win Sunshine Slam Championship Over No. 18 Colorado, 77-71.

By Brooke Spreitzer

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Florida State's Jamir Watkins scored a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds in earning tournament MVP honors as Florida State defeated 18th ranked Colorado, 77-71 in overtime, to win the championship of the 2023 Sunshine Slam at the Ocean Center. The Seminoles scored the first nine points of the overtime period and outscored the Buffaloes by a 17-11 margin in overtime to extend their ongoing NCAA-best streak of consecutive overtime victories to 14. Florida State has won each of its overtime games since a 101-90 double-overtime win over Syracuse on January 13, 2018 at the Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee.

Junior Jalen Warley came alive in the second as he totaled 19 points ā€“ with 16 of his 19 coming after halftime. The Seminoles' point guard scored 11 second half points and five more in the overtime period.

Warley led four Seminoles in double figure scoring with 19 points. He was followed by Watkins (18 points), Darin Green Jr (12 points) and De'Ante Green (10 points).

This matchup had the feeling of a March battle with both teams playing hard on each possession on both sides of the court. There were nine lead changes and 13 ties before Warley scored on a jumper in the paint to give the Seminoles a 62-60 lead they would not relinquish.

Warley was Florida State's (4-1) leading scorer for the first time this season and the second time in his career as he both attacked and was patient in running the Seminoles' both offensively and defensively. He stuck the final dagger in the Buffaloes' undefeated season with a dunk with 32 seconds remaining to be played in overtime that gave Florida State a 74-67 lead. His dunk came as Colorado (4-1) worked to make the game a two-possession game with 20 seconds to play.

Throughout the game, Warley was outstanding with three assists and three steals.

Watkins earned his second double-double in less than a week with 18 points and 11 rebounds. He tied his career high for rebounds with 11 also coming while at VCU against Radford on December 14, 2022. He started the second half with two consecutive layups in the first minute to put Florida State up 31-30.

Florida State's length kept the Buffalo's explosive scoring offense at bay, scoring six unanswered points in the first two minutes of overtime. Green Jr. scored the final points of the game at the free throw line with nine seconds to play to give Florida State its first win over a nationally ranked team in five games this season.

Green Jr. earned a steal with a minute left in overtime and made two free throws with nine seconds left in the game. He scored 12 points against Colorado to go along with two rebounds and four steals.

Florida State, which entered the game as the ACC leader in steals, added to its season with a season-high 17 steals. Watkins and Green Jr. totaled four steals each, while Miller and Warley totaled three each. The Seminoles' 17 steals is tied for the ninth highest single game total in school history, and the most since earning 18 in an 81-58 win over Nicholls State on November 9, 2007.

Seminoles Fall To Georgia In ACC/SEC Challenge.

By Brooke Spreitzer

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - A step-back jump shot by Justin Hill with under two seconds remaining gave Georgia a 68-66 win over Florida State in the inaugural ACC/SEC Challenge at the Donald L. Tucker Center. Hill scored 13 points during the game, but his final two were his most important as the Bulldogs gained the road victory.

Darin Green Jr. led Florida State with a season-high 21 points as he made four of eight 3-point shots. Sophomore De'Ante Green totaled career-highs in two categories by putting up 14 points and pulling down nine rebounds in his first career start.

The Seminole family honored Hugh Durham at halftime of the game. Durham played and coached at Florida State and is in the Seminoles' Hall of Fame. He also coached at Georgia. Durham coached both the Seminoles and the Bulldogs to their first NCAA Final Four appearances in school history. He is the only coach in NCAA Division I history who has been able to lead two separate teams to their first Final Four appearances.

De'Ante Green enjoyed the most impressive game of his career as he came within one rebound of his first career double-double. He totaled nine rebounds with seven coming on the offensive glass and two coming on the defensive glass. He was Florida State's second leading scorer.

It marked the third consecutive game Green has scored in double figure points ā€“ 10 each against UNLV and Colorado in the Sunshine Slam and 14 against Georgia.

It also marked the third straight game Green Jr. scored in double figures. He also pulled down five rebounds and was credited with two assists.

"I think we have some kind of record in winning close games but today we have to give Georgia credit because they drove to the basket, made layups, kicked, and made some threes.

"Hopefully, we have a lesson that we can learn from. You don't ever like to blow a lead in a game that's very, very important."

Georgia had four players scoring in double-digits with Jabri Abdur-Rahim (12 points) Silas Demary Jr. (15 points), Hill (13 points) and RJ Melendez (12 points) leading the way in the scoring column for the Bulldogs.

Seminoles Fall Short At North Carolina, 78-70.

By Jack Oliaro

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Four different Seminoles finished with double-digit scoring but the Seminoles fell on the road at North Carolina, 78-70 in the first conference game of the season at the Dean E. Smith Center.

Jamir Watkins led the Seminoles with 17 points while converting 50% beyond the three-point arc on six shots. Sophomore Baba Miller equaled his career-best in scoring with 12 points off five total makes.

Watkins was able to create early momentum with double-digit scoring inside the first ten minutes as three huge baskets from beyond three-point land propelled the Seminoles to an early advantage. He led the team in scoring and rebounding with 17 points and eight rebounds with two assists. He also recorded his fifth double-digit scoring game through seven games as a Seminole.

Miller converted nearly 75% of all his shots from the field in a variety of finishes and completed four rebounds. De'Ante Green made his second career start and continued his early season success with 12 points in the second half and recorded three rebounds and assists each. Darin Green Jr. was consistent with his sharpshooting ability as he fired two three pointers in each half to finish with 12 points and four rebounds.

This also marked Green and Green Jr.'s fourth straight game with double-digit scoring as the North Carolina natives are hitting their strides early and consistently this season.

Florida State held the Tar Heels to 29 points in the first half which is the fewest number of points the top-twenty side has scored all season. A 13-2 scoring run by the Seminoles propelled them to a six-point lead at the half. The defense suffocated North Carolina and didn't allow a field goal for nearly ten minutes of play through the middle portion of the game.

North Carolina's RJ Davis was their leading scorer with 27 points and earned his fifth twenty point game of the season while Armando Bacot recorded his 68th career double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Green Leads Seminoles Over North Florida, 91-75.

By Brooke Spreitzer

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- Darin Green Jr. made a season-high six 3-point shots, and scored his season-high of 24 points - including the 1,500th point of his career - to lead Florida State to a 91-75 victory at the Donald L. Tucker Center. The win was the Seminoles' eighth consecutive victory over the Ospreys. Florida State is now 8-0 all-time against their neighbors from Jacksonville.

Green has now scored 1,515 career points and made 331 career 3-point shots in his five-year career at UCF and Florida State.

Green Jr. led four Seminoles in double-digit scoring with Jalen Warley (12 points), Primo Spears (12 points) and Baba Miller (10 points) putting the Seminoles over the 90-point plateau for the third time this season.

The Seminoles showed their chemistry as they played unselfishly and shared the ball throughout the game as they totaled 17 assists on 34 field goals. They used their size to their advantage against the Ospreys on the defensive side of the ball and only trailed for 26 seconds during the contest. Florida State held its biggest lead of the game (27 points, 76-49) with 7:08 remaining in the second half.

"We were able to extend our play for longer periods of time than in previous games," said Seminole Head Coach Leonard Hamilton who has led the Seminoles to eight wins over the Ospreys. "It really helped to energize the team and that made it more difficult for North Florida."

It only seemed right for Green Jr. that his 1,500th career point would come as a three-pointer, which he made in the first half of the game. He was tonight's leader for the Seminoles, scoring 24 points and adding two rebounds, one assist, and one steal.

Warley stuffed the stat sheet tonight, scoring 12 points, pulling down four rebounds, adding two assists, and one steal.

Spears had a strong second game wearing the garnet and gold. He posted 12 points and played unselfishly with five rebounds and three assists.

Miller was the fourth Seminole tonight to score double digits with 10 points. He assisted with four rebounds and a career-high four assists in the victory.

Florida State had a strong shooting percentage of 50.7 percent, having 32 points coming from the bench with 40 of its points scored in the paint. Hamilton was able to rotate 12 players throughout the game.

"We were able to contest more inside and be more aggressive on the perimeter because we played more guys playing less minutes, which helped to sustain their energy for the entire game," said Hamilton.

The Ospreys had a strong performance from Chaz Lanier as he scored his career high of 22 points, with North Florida constantly shooting from outside the paint.

Spears, Warley Lead Seminoles to 67-61 Win Over Winthrop.

By Brooke Spreitzer

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Primo Spears and Jalen Warley scored 12 points each to lead Florida State to a 67-61 victory over Winthrop at the Donald L. Tucker Center. Spears (7 of 9) and Warley (6 of 8) were a combined 13 of 17 from the free throw line as the Seminoles outscored the Eagles by a 30-20 margin from the free throw line to gain their second consecutive win.

Spears and Warley led four Seminoles in double-figure scoring. Jamir Watkins scored 11 and De'Ante Green scored 10 to lead Florida State to its 12th consecutive pre-holiday break victory. The Seminoles have won each of their games prior to the break since 2012 and raised their all-time record against current teams from the Big South Conference to 24-0. The Seminoles are now 3-0 all-time against Winthrop.

Spears finished as the Seminoles' leading scorer along with Warley as he scored in double figures for the third time in his three games as a Seminole. He also had two defensive rebounds, two assists, and three steals.

Warley played with energy in his 11th consecutive start this season, as he scored in double figures for the second consecutive game and third time this season. His most important basket came with 1:18 remaining as he made a driving lay-up to give the Seminoles a 60-55 advantage. He was also four of six from the free throw line in the second half.

Warley totaled two assists against zero turnovers in 21 minutes of playing time.

Green, in his sixth consecutive game as a starter, was a perfect six of six from the free throw line as he reached double-figure scoring for the career-high fifth time this season. He also contributed on the boards with five rebounds, to go along with one block and one steal.

Taylor Bol Bowen used his 15 minutes of playing time wisely as he earned his career-high of three blocked shots. He also tied his career-high with six rebounds - three offensive and three defensive.

Darin Green Jr. was feeling comfortable with two 3-pointers and eight total points. His most important basket came with 52 seconds remaining as he took a steal to the house, securing the victory for the Seminoles. His dunk gave the Seminoles an insurmountable seven point lead. He led the team with four steals as well.

"We were extremely active out there on the court," said Coach Leonard Hamilton. "We put them on the foul line a few times at the end of the second half, but that just shows how aggressive we were being from a defensive perspective."

Florida State was strong defensively tonight, earning a season-high of 10 blocks as a team compared to Winthrop's three. The Seminoles' total surpassed the team's previous season high for blocked shots with their nine against Kennesaw State in their season-opening game. The team ended with 14 steals and currently leads the ACC in steals per game.

The Seminoles forced 24 turnovers by the Eagles and held them to only 61 points. The Eagles entered the game averaging 77 points in their first 13 games of the season. Florida State also forced several shot clock violations due to its defensive pressure.

Seminoles Fall Short Against Lipscomb.

By Ed Klinsport

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Lipscomb's Will Pruitt scored 24 points on three made 3-point shots to lead the visiting Bisons to a 78-75 win over Florida State at the Donald L. Tucker Center. A.J. McGinnis and Owen McCormack scored 12 and 13 points respectively for the Bisons.

Jamir Watkins led the Seminoles with 19 points. Just behind him in scoring were Primo Spears and Darin Green Jr. with 16 and 12 points, respectively.

All three, as well as the rest of the line-up, put up a valiant effort until the final second of play. Florida State outscored Lipscomb 44-32 in the second half and rallied from a 21-point deficit in the second half to bring the game to a one score affair at the end.

"Typically, we play aggressively in the first half and then have a slow second," said Seminole Head Coach Leonard Hamilton. "But today, I thought that we were much more aggressive in the second to match the aggressiveness that Lipscomb showed us in the first.

We need to play outside of our personalities so that we can be effective and successful. It's a mindset that you need to get in and we've showed moments of that during the season."

Despite the loss there was good news. Florida State saw the return of Cam Corhen to the court. Corhen sustained a toe injury during the 83-75 win in the championship game of the Sunshine Slam against No. 18 Colorado. He scored eight points and brought in eight rebounds during his return, as well as recording 19 minutes of play.

"I didn't realize that he (Cam) was in that much. He showed moments of the way he played before his injury and is looking good and will have a great impact moving forward," said Hamilton.

The Seminoles' defense forced nine turnovers and scored 10 points off turnovers over the course of the game.

Jackson Leads Seminoles Over Georgia Tech, 82-71.

By Brooke Spreitzer

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State's Chandler Jackson scored a career-high 14 points and the Seminoles began the new year on a very positive note with an 82-71 win over Georgia Tech at the Donald L. Tucker Center. The Seminoles led for the final 36 minutes of the game, were up by 17 in the second half, and won their ACC home opener by double figures.

Led by Jackson and redshirt junior Jamir Watkins (11 points), each of the 12 Seminoles who played in the game scored and 11 of the 12 players pulled down at least one rebound.

Jackson had a standout game in leading the Seminoles in scoring as he bettered his previous career-high of 10 points. He added two rebounds, two assists, and one steal in the Seminoles' first ACC win of the season.

"We're encouraged by the performance by Chandler (Jackson)," said Florida State Head Coach Leonard Hamilton. "He allowed us to challenge him. I told him I wanted him to be much more aggressive and he responded."

Watkins was the second-leading scorer for the Seminoles. He was perfect from the free throw line (three of three) and had six points from beyond the arc. He tied for the team-lead with five rebounds and added two assists.

Florida State played very much in sync as it shared the basketball which allowed for 82 points scored - the fourth time the Seminoles have scored at least 80 points in a game this season. The Seminoles trailed for the first 91 seconds of the game, and then on a 3-point shot by Darin Green Jr., led for the remainder of the game.

"Tonight, we definitely showed major improvement in many different areas, the offense especially," said Hamilton. "That was a point of emphasis for this game. We got 42 points coming from our bench and that is definitely a sign of us moving in the right direction."

Green Jr. was all about three-pointers tonight as he scored 10 points with six of them coming from beyond the arc. He also contributed to the team with four rebounds, one assist, and two steals.

Jalen Warley had one steal which moved him closer to the 100th steal of his career. He is four steals shy of reaching 100 for his career. He also scored nine points including his first 3-point shot in the first 13 games of the season, and was perfect from the line (two of two).

"We knew that they were going to pressure us, and we didn't respond as well as we could," said Georgia Tech Head Coach Damon Stoudamire. "They were getting the offensive rebounds; they were the ones being the aggressors, and it makes it harder out there on the floor."

Georgia Tech junior Miles Kelly led the Yellow Jackets in scoring with 20 points with Kowacie Reeves finishing with 18 points.

Seminoles Defeat Virginia Tech For Second Straight ACC Win, 77-74.

By Brooke Spreitzer

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State's Primo Spears made two free throws and Taylor Bol Bowen added a third as the Seminoles scored the final three points of the game from the line and held off Virginia Tech, 77-74, to gain their second consecutive ACC home win on Saturday at the Donald L. Tucker Center.

Spears hit two free throws with 1.2 seconds remaining in regulation to give the Seminoles a 76-74 lead. On the ensuing in-bounds pass, Virginia Tech attempted a full court pass that went untouched by the Hokies, giving the Seminoles possession under their own basket. A foul was called on Virginia Tech's Sean Pedulla which sent Bol Bowen to the line for two more shots. He made the first shot to give the Seminoles a 77-74 lead but missed the second giving the Hokies life. Hunter Cattoor grabbed the rebound of the missed free throw and was on-target but short on a game-tying shot.

The Seminoles improved to 2-1 in league play.

Florida State's Jaylan Gainey, Spears, and Cam Corhen led four Seminoles in double-figures with 11 points each. Darin Green Jr. scored 10 points for the home team.

"It was hard fought," said Florida State Head Coach Leonard Hamilton. "It all came down to the wire. I thought we had our moments, but we showed how great we can make moments when it counts."

Spears earned his sixth double-digit scoring game and has scored 10 or more points in each of his six games as a Seminole. His most important points came in the final 1.2 seconds as he scored two free throws to give the Seminoles a 76-74 lead.

"Trying to make the right play, it looks easy watching it on film," said Virginia Tech Head Coach Mike Young. "It looks easy to the team, but it's hard because Florida State is an aggressive team."

The second half was all Florida State as it went on a 14-0 run during a span of 3:40 which transferred the momentum to Florida State.

Gainey had a standout game creating his career high for points at Florida State with 11 to lead the team in the game. He was instrumental in creating opportunities for Florida State to score while only playing for 12 minutes.

Jamir Watkins scored 10 points for the Seminoles and pulled down eight rebounds.

"Our team has a lot of moving parts - us learning to play together," said Hamilton. Gainey is giving us help, Cam Corhen coming back, and Primo coming in and giving us a big lift with his speed and quickness."

Florida State's Baba Miler had a stellar all-around game with eight points, 10 rebounds, five assists and three steals. He finished with double figure rebounds for the third time this season.

Pedulla led the Hokies with 26 points along with Hunter Cattoor scoring 19 points.

"This game is a step in the right direction," said Hamilton. "We're going to enjoy this for about 45 minutes before we start looking ahead and preparing for Wake Forest on Tuesday."

Watkins' 19 Leads Florida State Over Wake Forest, 87-82.

By Brooke Spreitzer

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Junior Jamir Watkins scored a team-high 19 points on a perfect 11 of 11 shooting from the free throw line and sophomore Baba Miller scored a career-high 14 points to lead Florida State to an 87-82 win over Wake Forest at the Donald L. Tucker Center. The victory over the Deacons was their third consecutive ACC victory and raised the Seminoles to 3-1 in ACC play.

Florida State Head Coach Leonard Hamilton rotated through 11 players with each of them scoring and three players scoring in double digits with Watkins (19 points), Darin Green Jr. (17 points) and Miller (14 points) all in double figures.

The Seminoles outscored Wake Forest in both halves, shot .509 from the field (28 of 55), .538 from the 3-point line (seven of 13) and 80 percent from the free throw line (24 of 30). Florida State totaled 15 assists, 10 steals and five blocked shots as it handed Wake Forest their first loss since November 24 - a span of nine consecutive wins. It was also the first loss in conference play for the Deacons who entered the game at 3-0 in league play.

Watkins' nearly totaled a double-double with his 19 points and a career-high nine assists. His 11 free throws are tied for the eighth most in an ACC game in school history. He became just the third player in school history to finish perfect from the free throw line on at least 11 shots in an ACC game.

Green's night come on seven made field goals - including three from the bonusphere - with five rebounds and a career-high tying five steals.

Miller enjoyed his best scoring game as a Seminoles with 14 points. He played well defensively with three rebounds and three blocked shots.

Miller's exceptional game tonight had him both meet and surpass his career highs in several categories. He created a new high with scoring 14 points and tied his record for free throws made with four and blocked shots with three.

"I thought our execution and decision making along with shooting 53 percent from three and 80 percent from the free throw line shows that our guys are growing," said Hamilton.

The pressure and energy were visible throughout as Florida State won the opening tip and immediately played strong defense against the Deacons. The Seminoles got hot for a little over three minutes at the beginning of the first half going on an unanswered 10-point run. They were also perfect from the line (eight of eight) and led, 42-41 at the intermission.

"I thought Florida State did a really good job of speeding us up on offense the entire game, especially with their aggressiveness, length and switching," said Wake Forest Head Coach Steve Forbes.

In the second half, Florida State went on another major run for five-plus minutes scoring 14 unanswered points. This tied for the season-best run which also came during its win over Georgia Tech on Saturday.

"We played 11 guys tonight and that's a little bit challenging, but that's who we are," said Hamilton. "We want to develop a team that wins games by committee because that's a different style than what most people in ACC play and that works for us."

An impressive Wake Forest team coming in 11-3 was led in scoring by junior guard Cameron Hildreth who scored 25 points for the Demon Deacons along with guard Kevin Miller who scored 21.

"I thought they (Florida State) were the most aggressive team tonight, and I think their team's gotten a lot better," said Forbes. "That's a prime example of play if you play a 31-game season. They're going to be hard to beat and they've got a nice team and congrats to them on the win."

Amongst the major snowfall in South Bend was a high-energy basketball game from the beginning with the Seminoles putting on the full-court pressure. In the first half, Florida State earned a nine-point run over a four minute span, were perfect from the free throw line, and had 10 offensive rebounds.

Spears led the Seminoles with five field goals made and was a perfect two of two from the free throw line. His most important points of the games came as the clock ticked towards zero.

Watkins had a stat-building game as he totaled 12 points, four rebounds, four steals, and one assist. He was Florida State's second-leading scorer after he was limited in the first half with two early fouls.

Corhen And Spears Lead Seminoles To 84-75 Win At Miami.

By Brooke Spreitzer

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Cam Corhen and Primo Spears led Florida State with 16 points each as the Seminoles gained the 1300th win in program history as they defeated Miami, 84-75, at the Watsco Center. This monumental win was the sixth straight win in Coral Gables for the Seminoles as Florida State has defeated Miami 11 of the last 12 meetings between the two teams.

The Seminoles are now 5-1 in ACC play.

Darin Green Jr. scored the first basket of the game - on a customary 3-pointer for the senior - and the Seminoles never trailed in defeating their in-state conference rivals. Florida State led by as many as 16 points in the second half marking the sixth consecutive ACC game it has led by double-figures.

Florida State showed its dominance as it opened the game on Green Jr's first of two shots from beyond the arc during the victory. Both Corhen (11 points) and Spears (10 points) scored in double-figures in the first half as Florida State to a 45-35 led into the locker room at halftime.

This first half was all about the pace which Seminole Head Coach Leonard Hamilton and is team are known for. The team earned seven steals in the first 20 minutes and nearly reached their season average of 9.2 steals in earning a 15-point lead first-half lead.

Corhen scored his 16 points on a perfect seven-of-seven shooting night from the field. He also matched his career-high of three steals. He also earned three steals as a freshman in 2023 against Boston College.

Spears led the Seminoles with 16 points against the Hurricanes. His most important points came in the final 90 seconds with two free throws which helped extend the lead to nine at 84-75. Spears made three free throws in the final 1:13 of the Seminoles' second consecutive road victory.

Warley had an energetic game with a season-high six assists which finished just one assist shy of his career-best. He totaled his career-high of seven assists on the road against the Hurricanes in 2023. He also contributed two rebounds with both coming on the defensive end, and scored four points in the Seminoles' victory.

Baba Miller led Florida State with eight rebounds - with five of his eight rebounds coming on the offensive end of the court. He also scored nine points and totaled two steals.

Florida State continued its momentum in the second half as it extended its lead to 16 points with just under 17 minutes remaining to be played. Watkins Scores 15, Seminoles Fall To Tigers.

By Ed Klinsport

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Clemson's Chase Hunter scored 14 points, going perfect from both the field and the foul line, to help the visiting Tigers to a 78-67 win over Florida State at the Donald L. Tucker Center.

The Seminoles are now 5-2 in ACC play. Clemson is now 3-4 in league play.

I think we showed a little bit of our immaturity tonight, by not understanding that we have to turn it up a notch each and every time we play," said Seminole Head Coach Leonard Hamilton.

Darin Green Jr. scored the first basket of the game and from that point on, it was a back-and-forth battle for the lead for the conference rivals.

The Seminoles led for over 16 minutes in the first half, as Jalen Warley led the team in scoring with seven points, as well as earning his 100th career steal early in the half. However, the Tigers would not relent, as they managed to tie the score 30-30 right before the first half expired.

Junior guard Primo Spears also reached a career milestone, as he passed the 1,000-point mark for his career early in the second half. He is currently Florida State's third leading scorer on the season and finished tonight's game with 12 points, two rebounds and one assist.

Jamir Watkins led the Seminoles with 15 points. Just behind him in scoring were Green Jr. and Spears with 13 and 12 points, respectively.

All three, as well as the rest of the line-up, made a valiant effort for a comeback late in the game, but Clemson came out of halftime strong, building a sizable lead and keeping it just out of reach of Florida State for the entire second half.

"Today, Clemson was able to get the ball where they wanted to," said Hamilton. "They were able to put full-court pressure on us and I was getting the feeling that our players were not quite energized enough to contest the ball in the second half."

The Seminoles' defense won the turnover battle, earning 16 points off 15 Clemson turnovers over the course of the game.

"Hopefully what we can do is learn from this game and learn that for us to be successful, we have to be more consistent putting our hands up, getting deflections, forcing steals and shots, contesting shots and getting more rebounds," said Hamilton.

Watkins' Double-Double Leads Florida State past Syracuse In The Dome, 85-69.

By Brooke Spreitzer

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Jamir Watkins scored a career-high 27 points and earned his second double-double of the season with a career-high tying 11 rebounds to lead Florida State to an 85-69 win over Syracuse at the JMA Wireless Done. The win for the Seminoles marked their third consecutive win in the Dome and upped their ACC record to 6-2.

The victory for the Seminoles was their third consecutive ACC road win. The Florida State has now won at Notre Dame (January 13, 67-58), at Miami (January 17, 84-75) and at Syracuse in three consecutive ACC road games. The Seminoles have won eight of their last 10 since defeating Winthrop (December 22) and five of their last six ACC games since beating Georgia Tech (January 3, 82-71).

Florida State closed its game against Syracuse on a 37-17 run to earn the victory. The Seminoles trailed by a 52-48 margin with 13:30 remaining to be played and quickly increased their lead to win going away. A lay-up by Cam Corhen at the 10:53 mark gave the Seminoles a 55-54 lead - an advantage the Seminoles would continue to build on throughout the remainder of the game. The Seminoles led by 10 (72-62) on a fast break lay-up by Baba Miller and by 20 (85-65) on a jumper by Watkins with 1:49 left to play.

Watkins led four Seminoles in double-figure scoring with his career-high 27 points. Also in double figures were Primo Spears with 13, Miller with 12 and Cam Corhen with 10.

Syracuse's Judah Mintz scored a game-high 28 points with three assists.

The crowd of just under 20,000 inside Syracuse's famous Dome could sense a great career-high night was ahead for Watkins as he scored five points in the first 5:41 of the game. He totaled 12 points at halftime and was electric in the second half with 15 points. He was a perfect six of six from the free throw line with four made field goals after halftime.

The next leading scorer for the Seminoles was Spears who scored 13 points, and who finished as Florida State's leader with six assists.

Florida State and Syracuse were locked in a shoot-out in the first 20 minutes as both teams played end to end with the Seminoles applying their famous applying full-court pressure on the Orange. Following a deep 3-point shot from right in front of Florida State's bench by Miller, the Seminoles were within one, at 31-30, heading into the locker room at halftime.

This second half was all Florida State as it outscored the Orange by a 50-33 score after halftime. At the 12-minute mark, Watkins went coast to coast on a fast break dunk which certainly shifted the momentum away from the home team.

The Seminoles played with the energy demanded of them by Hamilton and his staff and led for the final 11 minutes of the game. The biggest run for the Seminoles, 9-0, and their biggest lead, 20 points, highlighted the second half for Florida State who moved into sole possession of second place in the ACC with the victory.

The Seminoles' defensive pressure was strong as they held Syracuse to a single three-point shot. The Orange made their only 3-point shot of the night at the 14:33 mark of the first half to pull within 9-7. Syracuse missed its final nine 3-point field goal attempts and were 0-5 from distance in the second half.

Miller was Florida State's third-leading scorer with 12 points. He also added three rebounds and one steal.

Seminoles Battle No. 3 Tar Heels; Fall Late 75-68.

By Brooke Spreitzer

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Four Seminoles scored in double digits against the No. 3 ranked North Carolina Tar Heels with junior Primo Spears leading the way with 15 points, but Florida State fell 75-68 at the Donald L. Tucker Center. Darin Green Jr. and Jamir Watkins followed with 12 points each, while Chandler Jackson scored 10.

Florida State fought and got back into the game with under four minutes remaining to be played as Jackson made one of two free throws, and Spears a driving layup to close the Seminoles' deficit to 70-68. North Carolina's RJ Davis scored the final five points of the game in the final 44 seconds to seal the win for the visitors.

Energy from both teams and the nearly sold-out crowd was consistent throughout the game for the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the ACC race. The fast-paced, defensive battle saw Florida State earn 11 steals and turn those into 26 points, while North Carolina outscored the Seminoles by a 26-22 margin in the paint. The Seminoles led by eight and the Tar Heels by 11 in a Saturday afternoon matinee that saw four lead changes.

Spears earned his fifth consecutive double-digit scoring game in his first career games against the Tar Heels. He totaled five rebounds. He finished just one shy of his season-best of six rebounds. Spears made a team-leading three 3-point shots in finishing as the Seminoles' leading scorer.

Watkins led the team in steals with his second consecutive three-steal game. He was the second on the team in scoring with 12 points and only missing one free throw (four of five).

After trailing by 11 in the first half, the Seminoles finished the first half on a 19-9 run in the final eight minutes to take a 41-36 lead into the locker room at the intermission.

Watkins and Spears led the Seminoles with 10 first half points each.

Jackson continues to find his role as he earned his second double-digit points game of the season with 10 points. He also had one rebound and one steal for the Seminoles.

"Chandler has a knack for getting below the free throw line and finding a way to put that thing in the basket, and that's not always easy to do," said Hamilton. "That's why he was in the game during that part and I thought he helped us come back."

North Carolina's Hubert Davis came in impressed by the Seminoles and was even more impressed by the end of the game.

"The way Florida State plays defensively, they show their athleticism, and you have to have guys that can create shots," said Davis.

Hamilton was as impressed by the Tar Heels as Davis was by the Seminoles.

"They have a well-balanced squad where they can hurt you from five different places," said Hamilton. "I have to give them credit."

North Carolina was led by senior guard RJ Davis as he scored 24 points for the Tar Heels. Junior Harrison Ingram totaled a double-double with 13 points and 17 rebounds.

Seminoles Claim ACC Road Victory, 63-62, At Boston College.

By Ed Klinsport

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - With the combined efforts of its entire roster, Florida State defeated Boston College in a close 63-62 win at the Conte Forum. The win for the Seminoles improved their ACC record to 7-4.

The Seminoles struck while the iron was hot and took an early lead thanks to a Jamir Watkins' layup less than a minute into play. The rest of the team followed suit and Florida State found itself on a 21-7 run midway through the first half.

Boston College would not stay down, however. They fought back to make the score 37-31, with Florida State maintaining its lead heading into the half.

Even with the Eagles bringing it within one point with 10 seconds left in the game, the Seminoles would hold strong and stay ahead and earn the win, as Florida State did not trail Boston College at any point in the game.

Watkins led the Seminoles with 10 points and was the only Seminole to reach double-digit scoring during the game. However, Florida State saw nine different players score during the matchup.

The Seminoles' defense forced 15 turnovers, scored 19 points off turnovers, and recovered 24 rebounds over the course of the game.

Watkins Scores 21, Florida State Drops Close Game To Virginia, 80-76.

By Brooke Spreitzer

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Virginia's Isaac McKneely scored 29 points and the Cavaliers withstood a furious rally by Florida State to win its eighth straight game, 80-76, over the Seminoles at the Donald L. Tucker Center. The Seminoles rallied to within two at 77-75 with 11 seconds remaining before the Cavaliers scored three of the final four points of the game to gain the victory.

McKneely was on fire throughout the night for the Cavaliers as he made eight of 12 field goals, was five of seven from 3-point range and missed just one of his nine free throws attempted. He pulled down four rebounds and was credited with two assists as Virginia improved to 10-3 in ACC play.

Florida State was led in the scoring column for the 10th time this season by Jamir Watkins, who scored a team-high 21 points. Sophomore Chandler Jackson scored a career-high of 17 points.

Watkins scored 20 points or more for the second time this season. He led the team in steals with two, along with blocking two shots. He was a near perfect 11 of 12 from the free throw line.

"We did a pretty good job defensively," said Florida State Head Coach Leonard Hamilton. "I thought that Virginia had the right chemistry and the right game plan."

Virginia broke on top early in the first half and led by 10 on two occasions, including by a 24-14 margin at the 8:16 mark. Florida State closed the half on a 16-10 run to shrink its deficit to four at the intermission, 34-30.

The Cavaliers jumped out quickly after halftime and led by as many as 12 at the 14:19 mark. But the Seminoles continued to fight and outscored the Cavaliers by a 40-32 margin to close the game.

In the second half, Florida State outscored Virginia in both bench points (20-12) and points in the paint (22-14).

Jackson gave a shock of electricity to the raucous Seminole crown with several big plays which swung the momentum towards the home team. He had a crowd-pleasing three-pointer at the 12:33 mark to cap a five-point scoring run.

"I've coached against Coach Hamilton over the years, and he'll give you a tough match-up every time," said Virginia Head Coach Tony Bennett. "Good credit to Florida State for the way they can make plays and attack the ball. Combine that with a lively crowd."

Jackson had a stat-stuffing night with his career-high of 17 points and five rebounds.

Reece Beekman added 21 points for the Cavaliers.

"We've got to learn from this game," said Hamilton. "And we've got to go into Blacksburg try to come away with a victory."

Watkins, Corhen In Double Figure Scoring In Loss To Blue Devils.

By Brooke Spreitzer

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Jared McCain led Duke with a career-high 35 points as he accounted for nearly half of Duke's point total as the Blue Devils defeated Florida State, 76-67 at the Donald L. Tucker Center. McCain and guard Jeremy Roach (17 points) were the only two Blue Devils who reached double figures in scoring as Duke held the Seminoles at arm's length for much of the second half to gain the win.

Florida State, which was led in scoring by junior Jamir Watkins with 15 points, got to within six points on two occasions midway through the second half but was unable to get any closer as Duke held on for the win.

McCain, a freshman guard for the Blue Devils, scored his career-high as he played in 39 minutes. He also earned a career-high three steals. McCain made eight of 11 3-point shots and 12 of 20 field goals in leading the Blue Devils to the victory.

"That's why you have to have a mindset on the defensive end, that you defend everybody with the highest level of focus," said Florida State Head Coach Leonard Hamilton.

Watkins led Florida State with 15 points and set a new career-high with four blocked shots. Limited with two fouls early in the game, he scored seven points in just eight minutes played in the first half.

The second half was a battle with Florida State inching ever so close to the Blue Devils making it a tight and exciting game.

"It's hard with Florida State because with them they switch everything," said Blue Devil Head Coach Jon Scheyer. "It's not like you can call plays all of the time. Credit Florida State with how they played on defense."

Cam Corhen scored 14 points and finished one rebound of a double-double with nine rebounds. He also blocked one shot.

Corhen continued to shoot the ball well from the field as he made seven of 10 field goal attempts. He is shooting .783 percent (36 of 46) in the last nine games and .661 percent (76 of 115) for the season.

Jalen Warley created great defensive pressure for the Seminoles and led the team with three steals. He scored four points with two points coming from the free throw line. Warley totaled a game-high five assists.

Florida State outscored Duke in many of the important statistical categories including points in the paint (40-26) and points off of the bench (32-5).

Watkins' Double-Double Leads Seminoles Over Boston College, 84-76.

By Brooke Spreitzer

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - In a game that featured 10 ties and 20 lead changes, Florida State's Jamir Watkins earned his fifth double-double game with 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Seminoles over Boston College, 84-76, at the Donald L. Tucker Center. Watkins led four Seminoles in double-figure scoring - Watkins, Chandler Jackson, 19 points, Jalen Warley, 13 points and Cam Corhen, 13 points, leading the way for the Seminoles as they gained their eighth ACC victory of the season.

Florida State's Taylor Bol Bowen hit two free throws at the 10:08 mark of the second half to put the Seminoles up 62-61. From there, the Seminoles steadily built their lead and won the game going away. Watkins pushed Florida State's lead 80-68 with 4:27 remaining and the Seminoles maintained a double-figure lead until Donald Hand Jr. scored the final basket of the game for the winning-margin of eight points for Florida State.

"I think tonight's game was a reflection of the focus that our players had on trying to eliminate what we called dips during the game," said Florida State Head Coach Leonard Hamilton.

The first half was action-packed at a shoot-out pace with both teams going into the half tied at 43. Watkins led the Seminoles in scoring in the first half with 12 points on four of five shooting from the field. Jackson, who was in the starting lineup for the first time this season, totaled nine first half points.

Watkins had his fifth double-double of his career and third of the season with his 22 points and 11 rebounds. He led the team with seven made field goals and a career-high tying three 3-point shots. Watkins was a perfect five of five from the free throw line.

Jackson, who was in the Seminoles' starting line for the first time since February 8, 2023 against Syracuse, scored his career-high of 19 points and totaled a career-high tying three steals. He scored 10 second half points to help the Seminoles pull away from the Eagles.

"Chandler is a big, strong guy, and you can't leave him open," said Hamilton. "He takes contact and finishes around the basket, he has a burst of speed that allows him to accelerate and move past people, and he's a much better athlete than maybe you might would think."

Earl Grant, the Eagles' Head Coach, was equally as positive about Jackson's play.

"Chandler Jackson, specifically, did not play a ton of minutes but played a big role in Florida State's win," said Grant. "Jamir Watkins and Jackson really dominated the game from a physical standpoint."

The Seminoles shot .552 from the field in the first half though neither team held more than a five-point lead.

Florida State remained hot in the second half as it shot .545 from the field (12 of 22), .400 from the 3-point line (four of 10) and .813 from the free throw line (13 of 16).

Defensively, Florida State totaled 10 steals for the games and limited Boston College to 33 second-half points.

"I've got to give Florida State credit," said Grant. "They did a good job. They were very well-prepared. Watkins made more threes than he typically makes because of his aggressive driving."

The Eagles of Boston College were led by Jaeden Zackery with 19 points. He was perfect from the 3-point line.

Watkins Leads Seminoles with 18 at Clemson.

By Brooke Spreitzer

CLEMSON, S.C. - Clemson's Joe Girard III scored a game-high 24 points on four made 3-point shots and a perfect 10 of 10 shooting from the free throw line to lead the Tigers to a 74-63 victory over Florida State at Littlejohn Coliseum. Girard scored 15 of his 24 points in the second half as the Tigers held the lead throughout the final 20 minutes to gain the win.

Junior Jamir Watkins topped Florida State with 18 points, while Primo Spears scored 16 and Baba Miller totaled 12. Watkins has now score in double figures in a career-best 13 consecutive games. Watkins also led the Seminoles with eight rebounds.

Led by 10 second-half points from Watkins, seven by Miller and six by Spears, the Seminoles chipped away at their deficit and were within five with five minutes remaining to be played. Two free throws from Watkins narrowed the Clemson lead to 60-55. The Tigers, though, closed the game on a 14-8 burst to gain the win.

Spears led the Seminoles with 10 points in 11 first half minutes of playing time. He played well as the Seminoles' leading scorer off of the bench for the game with his 16 points, Spears totaled three steals and one assist and finished tied with Watkins for the team lead with six field goals made.

With 18 points and eight rebounds, Watkins was two rebounds shy of his second consecutive double-double. He totaled 22 points and 11 rebounds in the Seminoles' victory over Boston College on Tuesday in Tallahassee.

Florida State held Clemson's PJ Hall to a season-low seven points - the first game he did not score in double figures this season. Watkins, Spears Lead Florida State Over NC State, 90-83.

By Brooke Spreitzer

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Jamir Watkins scored 19 points and Primo Spears added 14 points and six assists to lead Florida State to a 90-83 victory over NC State at the Donald L. Tucker Center. The victory was the Seminoles' sixth straight at home against the Wolfpack.

Neither team was able to take control early as the game saw two ties and four lead changes in the first 10:31 of the game. The Seminoles took the lead for good on a jump shot by Darin Green Jr. that give the Seminoles a 24-22 lead with 8:25 left to play before the intermission. The Seminoles stretched their lead to 34-24 on another field goal by Green Jr. and led by eight at 41-33 at the halftime break.

The Wolfpack led only twice during the game. They took their first lead of the game, 4-3, on a fast break layup by DJ Horne at the 17:32 mark and took a 13-12 lead on a hook shot by Ben Middlebrooks at the 13:05 mark. While the Wolfpack tied the game twice more during the first half, they did not lead during the remainder of the game.

Florida State shot nearly 60 percent from the field and nearly 36 percent from the 3-point. The Seminoles' mark of .597 from the field is their highest in an ACC game this season. Florida State also totaled 16 assists, seven steals and five blocked shots.

Watkins led the Seminoles in scoring as he scored in double-figures for the 14th consecutive game. He was Florida State's leading scorer as he shot a solid eight of 11 from the field, made one very important 3-point shot and added two free throws. Watkins was an all-around star against the Wolfpack with an additional three rebounds, two assists, and two steals in 34 minutes played.

"He's a jack of all trades," NC State Head Coach Kevin Keatts said of Watkins. He's a rebounding guy and rises-up and makes the three every now and then. He's really good in transition and gets an offensive rebound and he knows how to score around the basket."

Spears also had himself a night as he totaled 14 points and added a season-high six assists on the night he was presented with a special basketball for scoring his 1,000th carer-point earlier this season.

Sophomore Cam Corhen scored 11 points for the Seminoles on five of nine shooting from the field. He is now shooting .638 percent from the field for the season.

The first half consisted of high-flying plays with Green Jr. making a pair of 3-point shots, a powerful dunk by Jaylan Gainey, and a solid 3-point shot from De'Ante Green.

"I thought that we moved the ball and executed very well," said Seminole Head Coach Leonard Hamilton. "Everybody was involved in the first half and we had some guys that made some plays."

Baba Miller led the team in rebounds with seven, six coming on the defensive end of the court.

The Seminoles had their largest lead in the second half by 12 points when up 82-70.

NC State was led by junior Jayden Taylor with 24 points, and graduate Casey Morsell was close to a double-double game right behind Taylor with 19 points and 9 assists.

Watkins Scores 15, Seminoles Fall To Yellow Jackets.

By Brooke Spreitzer

ATLANTA, Ga. - Georgia Tech's Kyle Sturdivant scored 20 points and three Yellow Jackets earned in double figure rebounds as Georgia Tech gained an 85-76 victory over Florida State at McCamish Pavilion. Also in double figure scoring for Georgia Tech were Baye Ndongo and Naithan George, who both scored 15 points each.

Jamir Watkins led four Seminoles in double figures with 15 points. It marked the 15th consecutive game the junior win has scored in double-figures. Watkins was joined in double-figure scoring by Cam Corhen (14 points), Primo Spears (13 points) and Baba Miller (13 points). Watkins led the Seminoles with seven rebounds.

Watkins made four field goals and was a nearly perfect six of seven from the free throw line. He finished as the team-leader in rebounds (along with Corhen) with seven rebounds while totaling three assists and one blocked shot. Watkins led the team in steals matching his career-high of four.

Miller scored in double-figures with five made field goals and two of three made free throws. He added four rebounds, a team-high two blocked shots, one assist and steal in 28 minutes of play.

Miller had shining moments showing his full strength and capabilities for the Seminoles scoring 13 points and leading the team with two blocks. The spark he brings on the court is one that cannot be overlooked, with his height being a strong factor helping turn moments from defense into offense.

The Seminoles and the Yellow Jackets traded punches in the first half. Corhen was the heartbeat on the offensive side, with six of his 10 first half points in the first seven minutes of the game. Darin Green Jr. scored six of his nine points for the game in a span of 90 seconds with consecutive made 3-point field goals.

Second chance points were a major factor in the game as the Yellow Jackets earned 21 offensive rebounds and a 21-11 scoring edge on second chance points.

Spears was an offensive force for the Seminoles with 13 points and a game-high tying four assists. He also added two steals against the Yellow Jackets.

Defensively, Florida State played a solid game on the road in ACC play. The Seminoles totaled nine steals and four blocked shots, while forcing 16 Yellow Jacket turnovers. Florida State outscored Georgia Tech, 11-9, in the points off turnovers category, and totaled 13 fast break points to Georgia Tech's 10.

Corhen Scores Career-High 25 Points in Loss To Panthers.

By Brooke Spreitzer

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Pittsburgh's Blake Hinson scored 27 points on six made 3-point shots to lead the Panthers to an 88-73 win over Florida State at the Peterson Events Center. Hinson scored 18 second-half points as he led four Panthers in double figures scoring as they reach 20 overall victories for the second consecutive season.

Cam Corhen scored a career-high 25 points to lead three Seminoles in double figures on the road in ACC play. The sophomore center was eight of 12 from the field and a nearly perfect nine of 10 from the free throw line. Corhen was perfect on his first eight free throws of the game. Also in double figure scoring for the Seminoles were Darin Green Jr. with 16 points and Jamir Watkins with 15. Watkins has now scored in double figures in a career-best 16 games.

Corhen was an undeniable presence at the rim offensively and defensively as he pulled down a game-high eight rebounds -- with four coming on the offensive glass and four on the defensive end of the court. He also earned one assist and one steal in 31 minutes of playing time.

"I thought Jeff's team executed well," said Florida State Head Coach Leonard Hamilton. "It's unusual that you compete against people who have so many good perimeter shooters and guys who can move well with or without the ball. They're a hard matchup; they've gotten more mature, and they're playing to the strengths of who they are. I've always said, we've won games by committee, and that was a perfect example of them winning by committee. This team (Pittsburgh) is capable of beating anyone in our league because of how well they play together."

Florida State played defensively in the first half as its totaled 15 rebounds and five steals. The Seminoles forced the Panthers into eight turnovers and each 10 points off of their opponents' turnovers.

Corhen (14 points) and Green Jr. led the Seminoles in the first half as they held an early five point lead (12-7) at the 14:07 mark on two Corhen free throws. Green Jr. was on fire from beyond the arc having three clean threes in the first 20 minutes. The senior totaled 12 of his 16 points against the Panthers came from beyond the arc for the game.

Watkins led the Seminoles with all 15 of his points after halftime.

Florida State worked to get itself back into the game to begin the second half and closed its halftime deficit (11 points) to eight on an old fashion three-point play by Watkins at the 10:49 mark. Watkins' basket and free throw after absorbing the foul made the score 62-54 in favor of the home team.

The Seminoles earned seven steals and blocked three shots while winning the battle from the free throw line by a 24-11 margin. The Seminoles made more free throws (24) than Pittsburgh attempted (18).

Baba Miler was able to effectively turn offense into defense as he pulled down seven rebounds with six of them coming defensively. He also earned two steals along with two assists and one blocked shot.

Pittsburgh's Jaland Lowe had a double-double with 17 points and a game-high 10 assists.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Darin Green Jr. scored 26 points to lead Florida State to an 83-75 victory over Miami at the Donald L. Tucker Center. The win marked the Seminoles' third straight and 12th in its last 13 games against Miami. The win moved Seminole Head Coach Leonard Hamilton into a tie for fourth in ACC history with Maryland's Gary Williams with his 192nd career ACC regular season victory.

Green Jr. tied his career-high with eight 3-point field goals made for a season-high 26 points. He previously made eight 3-point field goals against St. John's on December 17, 2022. Green Jr. came within four points of tying his career-high of 30 points in the Orange Bowl Classic game against the Red Storm. Green's eight 3-point field goals made marked the sixth time in school history that a player had made at least eight triples in a single game. The Seminole record for 3-point field goals made is 10 by George McCloud at La Salle on February 23, 1989.

Following a pregame ceremony honoring seven seniors who've played integral roles in the success of the Seminoles program for Senior Day, Florida State struck first with a Jamir Watkins steal turned into a dunk within the first minute of play.

"I love this camaraderie at the end of the day," said Seminole Head Coach Leonard Hamilton. "We're trying to get all our seniors on the floor and the end of the game, the locker room was festive, and they are in a good frame of mind I think going into the ACC tournament."

Both teams battled in the first half as the game saw three lead changes and eight ties. The Seminoles took the lead at 28-27 with 3:15 left in the first half, thanks to a layup from Taylor Bol Bowen and followed shortly thereafter by a layup from Jalen Warley.

Florida State would maintain a 37-32 lead heading into halftime, closing out the first with an alley-oop dunk from Primo Spears to Cam Corhen on the receiving end of a sensational pass.

The Seminoles' first-half offense was led by Darin Green Jr. as he scored 12 points, going 4-of-11 from 3-point range and securing one rebound and two assists.

"Darin is our most experienced player," said Hamilton. "Obviously, he works as hard as he does and there's a certain level of confidence that comes over you when you feel confident in certain positions on the floor. It meant a lot more to him today because it's the last time you're going to play in the Tuck, and it meant an awful lot to him."

Defensively, Florida State won the first half rebound battle, securing 23 total, and holding the visiting Hurricanes to four offensive rebounds and 18 total. The Seminoles also had three blocks and six total steals to finish out the first half.

"From the defensive standpoint, we did okay on the first shot, but their (Florida State) offensive rebounds just absolutely killed us," said Miami Head Coach Jim LarraƱaga. "They ended up with 15 offensive rebounds, which led to 16 points. When you play good defense but keep giving them second shots, it becomes very difficult."

The second half was very much the same back and forth battle that the first was.

But, just like the first half, the Seminoles found a way to stay ahead of Miami. Florida State held the lead for 21:59 over the course of the game.

Green continued to lead the Seminole offense in the second half. He added four additional 3-pointers after the intermission, bringing his total to eight and matching his career high.

Green Jr. (24), Jamir Watkins (16), Jalen Warley (13), and Cameron Corhen (10) all scored in double-digits in the Seminoles victory. With this game, Corhen has now scored in double-figures in four consecutive and six time in the last seven games that he has scored in double-figures.

Watkins finished the game with his sixth career double-double of (16 points and 11 rebounds), while leading the team with five assists. It marked the career-best 17th consecutive game Watkins has scored in double figures.

Watkins' 34 Points Lead Seminoles Over Virginia Tech In ACC Tournament.

By Chuck Walsh

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Florida State's Jamir Watkins scored a career-high and Seminoles' record in an ACC Tournament game 34 points to lead Florida State to an 86-76 victory over Virginia Tech in the second round of the ACC Tournament at the Capital One Arena.

Watkins' 34 points is the most in an ACC Tournament game in school history. He is the second player in school to score 30 points or more in an ACC games. Xavier Rathan-Mayes scored 30 points on March 11, 2015, in a 76-73 win over Clemson in the second round of the 2015 ACC Tournament.

Watkins' 34 points is the most by a Florida State player since Xavier Rathan-Mayes scored 35 against Miami on February 25, 2015.

While scoring his 34 points, Watkins surpassed the 1,000-point career mark on a first half jump shot.

Watkins scored in every way possible - he was nine of 15 from the field, two of four from the 3-point line and made a career-high 14 of 17 free throws in leading the Seminoles. He also tied his career-high with 11 rebounds as he totaled his second consecutive, his sixth double-double of the season and seventh of his career in leading the Seminoles. He also totaled four steals - the second consecutive and third time in the last four games he has earned four steals.

In a game that saw six ties and eight lead changes, Florida State took the lead for the final time on a jumper from the paint by Primo Spears to give the Seminoles a 59-58 lead with 6:38 left to play. From there, the Seminoles outscored the Hokies by a 27-18 margin. Florida State was 25 of 28 from the free throw line in the second half and totaled 25 of its 50 points after intermission from the free throw line. The Seminoles made 25 or 30 free throw shots and outscored the Hokies by a 25-18 margin from the line during the game.

Also in double figure scoring for the Seminoles were junior Jalen Warley with 18 points and Spears with 10.

"Virginia Tech, they've always been an extremely talented team because they execute so well," said Florida State Head Coach Leonard Hamilton. "They have a great combination of basketball savvy players, but they have the ability to shoot the ball well from the perimeter. They amaze you with their ability to take the ball to the basket and finish. They challenged us from a defensive standpoint on all levels."

Florida State challenged Virginia Tech defensively throughout the game. The Seminoles outrebounded the Hokies by a 34-25 margin (after being outrebounded in both regular season games), totaled 10 steals, blocked three shots, and limited the Hokies to a .357 field goal shooting percentage in the second half.

The Seminoles won the points off turnover margin (25-9), the points in the paint (48-32), second chance points (13-10) and fast break points battles (18-24).

"That's what they've done in his time (Coach Hamilton) at Florida State. They're really good and very disruptive. It's uncomfortable.

"I thought we had some very good shots that we got down in the first half. Consequently, we go in at the half up one. I thought we had some very good shots in the second half, but we weren't shooting the ball -- Hunter had a couple of great ones, and he's been terrific throughout his career. Just didn't have his best stuff."

Warley scored 10 of his 18 points in the second half. He made eight of 10 field goals (he was a perfect four of four in the first half for eight points). He also handled the ball well with four assists and two steals in 25 minutes of playing time.

Spears scored eight of his 10 points in the second half. He also added two assists and two steals.

Senior Jaylan Gainey totaled four important points (all in the first half) and Florida State rallied from an eight-point first half deficit to only trail by one, 37-36, at halftime.

"In the first half, they (Virginia Tech) were blowing by us like the wind," said Hamilton. "The second half I thought we did a much better job containing the dribble and getting our hands up and contesting shots. That's normally a pretty good formula. I thought we got some offensive rebounds and got some put-backs, too, that helped us a little bit on the other end."

Spears Leads Seminoles Against North Carolina In ACC Tournament.

By Chuck Walsh

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Primo Spears led Florida State with 17 points and Jamir Watkins scored in double figures for the 19th consecutive game as No. 1 seed North Carolina defeated No. 9 seed Florida State, 92-67, in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament at the Capital One Arena. Spears and Watkins were joined by Jalen Warley in double figure scoring as the Seminoles finished the ACC Tournament with a 1-1 record after defeating Virginia Tech in Wednesday's second round.

Guard RJ Davis led the way for North Carolina with 18 points and 3 assists while Armando Bacot (14 points and 10 rebounds) earned a double-double and four Tar Heels scored in double figures as the No. 1 seed advanced to Friday's semifinal game against the winner of the Pittsburgh vs. Wake Forest quarterfinal game.

Spears played well for the Seminoles with 17 points on eight of 14 shooting from the field along with two steals. He scored 10 points in the second half on five of nine shooting from the field.

"Congratulations to Carolina," said Seminole Head Coach Leonard Hamilton. "I thought they had a great defensive plan. At the beginning of the game, made it very difficult for us to initiate our offense. It's kudos to them for having a much more aggressive plan."

Hamilton spoke glowingly of North Carolina's Bacot. North Carolina's Hubert Davis, the ACC Coach of the Year, spoke well of Florida State's Watkins.

"He's one of the better players in our conference," said Davis. "His ability to attack the basket is real. He's got great size on the wing, athleticism, and when he gets to the cup, he has the ability to finish and also draw fouls and get to the free-throw line. So it was a huge emphasis on us, one, to defend him and make it hard for him just to catch the ball, not allow him to go to spots in space where he feels comfortable offensively, and to be able to do that without fouling him. It's hard to do.

Watkins has scored in double figures in each of the last 19 games.
